Authors Note: The next couple chapters will not focus too much on them reuniting. I wanted to keep it as more Sesshomaru's POV than Rins because Sesshomaru did not have a clue on where she could be, but she always knew where she could go to find him but decided to keep away because of her own insecurities. They will meet up again.
Sesshomaru wakes up like any other ordinary day and gets himself ready for work. Jaken informs him of all his meetings he will need to attend and a dinner his father is planning for Inuyasha's engagement.
"I do not know why they continue to invite me to anything that has to do with that half breed" he says to himself.
He has not been back to that suite since Rin left, it just harbored too many memories and he tried to keep away reminders of her as much as possible. How could he let his mate slip away, she could have been his that night, but he held off because of her fragile nature. If she were a demon, he would have just taken her no questions asked.
He did not mention anything to anyone, but he always kept things to himself anyway. A couple times he almost slipped and asked his father for advice as he married a human, and she has his lifespan and they been together for hundreds of years.
To appeal to the humans, he would have to hide his markings so if he tried to get a whiff of Rin's scent, he could not in the state he was in.
He attended all his meetings for the day and before the dinner, Sesshomaru thought he would have a drink. He goes to his mansion and pulls out some Jameson and takes a shot.
Although he stopped his search, he never stopped thinking about her. He kept a souvenir of hers that she did not realize he may have taken. He goes to a secret drawer and pulls out a pair of lingerie shorts and sniffs them and his eyes flashed red. He could remember the taste of her dripping in his mouth.
He gets an erection and puts the shorts back up and goes into the shower and masturbates at all the memories flashing once again. That is how he got through his days, smelling the remainder of her scent on her shorts. She did not have them on long, but it still had a faint scent on it.
Sesshomaru gets ready for the party he really does not want to attend because everyone annoys him. He arrives there and is greeted by the host, and he is shown to his seat. Izayoi comes out of nowhere.
"Oh, my dear Sesshomaru, I am so glad you could make it out to your little brothers engagement party".
He turns and looks to her and then turns away, "It is a pleasure".
"Your father will be so happy that you finally came out and spent time with the family".
Sesshomaru responds, "Hmph".
"Big brother!" yells a very outspoken woman. She waves at Sesshomaru and he turns his head as if he never seen her.
"They are just a like, always yelling, no kind of manners" he mutters under his breath.
She finally makes it up to him, "Big brother, are you ignoring your dear sister?"
"You are not my family girl".
"Oh, somebody is in a bad mood today!"
"Oi, Kagome, I do not know why you even try, he is always going to be that way. I keep telling you he does not like anyone".
"At least someone is making sense" Sesshomaru says.
Toga walks up to the group. "Oh, my dear husband, look Sesshomaru is here" Izayoi says.
Sesshomaru glares at Izayoi.
Toga says, "I can hear you all from across the room, take it easy okay. Sesshomaru it is nice to see you this evening, I did not know you would make it".
"Why don't we all grab something to eat, it is so much, and we all can catch up" Izayoi says.
Sesshomaru does not get anything, he just sits there acting as if no one is there.
The others sit down and Kagome yells out, "Oh my God Sesshomaru, if you were going to be a negative Nancy, you should have never come!"
"Be quiet girl, This Sesshomaru is not ruining anything of yours, pay more attention to your party than me".
Kagome goes to try to yell something, but Inuyasha told her to just let it go and let him sulk in whatever he is going through.
"So, tell us about the preparations Kagome" Izayoi tries to change the subject.
"You have been such a good help with everything, and it is all coming together. I have a couple family members that are coming down and will also help the preparations".
"Oh good, good, the more the merrier".
Toga looks at Sesshomaru and he seemed more troubled than usual, and he decides to pull him to the side.
"Sesshomaru what has got into you lately, you are moodier than usual".
"It is nothing father, I assure you".
"You know me, and your mother have been talking and we are growing worried that your mate has not appeared yet".
Sesshomaru eyes widen, "Father I am not worried so you should not worry either".
"You are of age to mate Sesshomaru, it seems your brother found his before you and you are older, that is odd Sesshomaru, have you been avoiding it?"
"I will not have this discussion. I will be taking my leave now".
Sesshomaru goes to leave, and Kagome pleads with Sesshomaru to stay, "You should stay, you may have a good time for a change, and maybe even meet someone special, you never know!"
Sesshomaru was losing his temper as his family was treating him as if he were a child and was incapable of finding a partner.
Sesshomaru just grunts and leaves.
"I was trying to get him to stay, I wanted him to meet my cousin. I think they would be a good pairing" Kagome says.
"Kagome, Sesshomaru does not like anyone and for damn sure he does not like humans, he stomachs them for the sake of father. He is not going to be interested in your cousin. I can't even picture him showing any kind of intimacy with anyone" Inuyasha says shuddering in disgust.
"Good thing I have not told her anything about him, maybe they will not be a good pairing after all and plus she is not going to make it, she is tired from her flight".
Toga tells Inuyasha not to tease his brother, they sit and enjoy the rest of their meal.
"I do not know why I picked him as my best man, he is such a dick" Inuyasha says.
"Inuyasha, Sesshomaru has a cold demeanor we know that, but lately he has been acting strange. I think it has something to do with him not finding a mate. He sees you with yours son, and I think he is a little jealous, he is lonely" Toga says.
"A lonely prick that is for sure" Inuyasha replies.
Sesshomaru gets home and calls Jaken, "Have you found anything yet?"
"No, my lord, I have not found anything, I wish I could have got her information, it is rare we do not save contacts as they always tried to ruin your reputation. This one, got away but good thing she made herself nonexistent".
Jaken did not even know the circumstances around Rin, he just thought Sesshomaru was looking for her just so she would not try to expose him.
Sesshomaru just dismissed him and went and got ready for bed as it will be the same tomorrow.
