Chapter Seven

Awakening

Rin sighed as the suitor walked away. This was the 6th suitor to ask for a small amount of time to speak to her. The presentation was going smoothly so far. She had been walked out by her father to which everyone in attendance bowed. Her father did his speech and once she was seated, the feast had begun.

The princess turned to see that Maiko was still gone. Thankfully her parents had not noticed that the servant was missing.

"Princess, there is another suitor who wishes a moment of your time." Her personal guard Asano stated with a bow.

Rin bit the inside of her cheek, very annoyed at how she was being seen as nothing more than a prize pig being sold, "Yes, it's fine."

Rin forced a smile on her face as another suitor stepped towards her seated position.

"Princess, you look beautiful tonight. I am….."

Maiko crept along the dark hall, double-checking behind herself. She was relieved to see no one around. She was correct that everyone would be in attendance for the princess's presentation. She had only passed a few guards making their rounds.

She reached King Ishida's private study and quietly opened the door. Quickly shutting the door behind herself, Maiko let out the breath she had been holding. Calming herself, the servant walked to King's Ishida's desk, but the book was not there.

Being alarm, Maiko quickly began looking around the room across the various shelves. Not finding the book, Maiko began to quietly panic.

"It has to be here," Maiko whispered.

Running behind the king's desk, she began pulling open the drawers and felt relief fill her when she spotted the book in the bottom draw. Maiko hugged the book to her chest. She was just about to shut the drawer when a folder letter caught her attention. Realizing that this must be the letter that came from the courier from the western lands, Maiko quickly snatched the letter and open it. After reading the contents of the letter, Maiko gasped.

"Oh my gods….." The servant whispered in shock.

Maiko stuffed the letter into the book and shut the drawer. She needed to get out of this room now.

Maiko had just stepped into the hall and shut the door behind her when she heard a voice asked, "What are you doing?"

Rin let out a huge sigh, she needed space. She needed to get away for a few moments. Suitor number 10 had just walked away.

"Father, I need some air." Rin stated as she stood from her seat.

"Arina, please wait for Asano to escort you." Her father stated and then turned to her personal guard instructing him not to leave her side.

Asano walked ahead and lead Rin to the large patio doors, Rin pushed them open and practically ran to the banister. The princess let the night air cool her face, closing her eyes to the stars.

"The stars pale in comparison to your beauty princess."

Rin jumped at the voice that spoke to her.

Asano quickly stepped in front of her Rin, blocking the view of the voice.

Rin peered around Asano and found a tall pale man standing with his hands up in submission.

"My apologizes, I did not mean to startle." The man said with a bow.

"It's ok, Asano, allow us a moment," Rin stated, coming forward to find herself facing a tall man with his long dark hair in a ponytail. Rin found it a bit odd, but he appeared to be wearing red rouge on his lips and was dressed in a light blue haori with red patterns on it and brown hakama.

The pale man now seeing that it was safe, stepped closer and fixed Rin with a polite smile. He also had purple eyes.

"I'm afraid your name escapes me, kind sir," Rin stated, eyeing the man.

"I'm sorry, princess, allow me. My name is Byakuya."

"Byakuya….I'm afraid I'm drawing a blank." Rin said she did not know this man at all.

"Of course, I've only lived here in the kingdom for a few months now. I've heard of the celebration tonight and came to see the beautiful princess. A lowly simple man of my standing could only hope to marry such a beautiful princess as yourself. I came to only gaze upon your beauty." Byakuya stated, his head tilting to the side with a smile.

With it being the princess's celebration, all the kingdom was invited. Each guest was thoroughly searched and questioned before being allowed admittance. To ensure the safety of the royal family, all guests were only allowed in the main entryway and dining hall of the castle. All other areas of the castle were completely blocked off.

"Your words flatter me, my lord," Rin said with a forced smile on her face. Even though this man in front of her appeared harmless, there was something about him that did not sit right with her.

"Did you come with anyone else?" Rin asked.

"A sister, she is around here somewhere," Byakuya answered with an amused smile on his face.

"I see, well it was a pleasure to meet you Byakuya, I'm sure my parents most likely have another suitor waiting to speak to me. I must head back in now." Rin said with a head nod and turned to leave only to walk right into a red-eye woman.

Both women were knocked off balance and Byakuya quickly rushed forward to help Rin regain her balance. Asano rushed forward as well placing himself between the princess and the other two guests.

"Princess, please forgive my sister. She tends to be clumsy and not pay attention to where she is going. Come sister, apologize to the princess." Byakuya said, coming to stand next to the red-eye woman.

Rin watched as the woman snapped her fan closed and bow low, her soft voice stating, "Please forgive me, princess. I did not watch my step. I hope I did not injury you in any way."

Rin hesitated, taking in the appearance of both figures in front of her. The pale man said they were siblings, but they looked nothing alike.

"No harm done; I must be going now. Thank you both for attending and I hope you enjoy the rest of the celebration." Rin stated slowly backing away.

"Thank you, princess," Byakuya answered with a smile.

Byakuya watched as the princess walked away.

"Did you get it?" A clearly annoyed voice asked.

Once Byakuya was sure that the princess and her personal guard were back in the main dining hall, the incarnation turned back and with a smile, "Of course dear sister." And opened his palm to reveal the few strands of hair he managed to pluck from the princess's head.

"Good, I'm tired of being here. Let's go. Oh, and next time, don't call me clumsy."

"Of course, Kagura." Byakuya answered.

Both incarnations walked back into the large dining hall and disappeared into the crowd of the other guests.

Toda and Oda laughed while running after each other. The young twins knew this was a big party for their sister but were both bored. They had managed to slip past their nanny and were now chasing each other around the main hall.

Oda had just turned around to run past his brother when he slammed right into a pair of legs. Oda stumbled back and landed on his butt. Shaking his head, Oda looked up, his young eyes widen in fear. Toda quickly ran to his brother to protect him.

"My young princes, I'm sorry to have disturbed your game. Allow me to help you up." The pale man with red lips said, leaning down with an extended hand.

"NO!" Oda screamed and scrambled away in fear.

At that moment, their nanny Ayumi and one of the guards found them.

"Boys!" The exasperated nanny said, quickly running and picking both boys up and dusting them off.

The young twins quickly hide behind their nanny. Ayumi looked up to excuse the young boys but found the tall pale man had vanished.

Ayumi grabbed the hand of each twin and heard Oda say to Toda, "He had no color." To which Toda added, "He was cold."

Ayumi not understanding what the young princes meant, simply shrugged off the comment, leading them back to the dining hall.

Kokoro sat in her room, taking deep breaths.

'I can do this….I can do this….I can do this…..' The young servant chanted over and over in her head.

Kokoro had decided to go look for the book, she knew it had to be in the king's private office. Everyone was at the celebration, now was her chance to grab the book and give it to the princess.

The princess had kept her promise and not told anyone about the book, no one had said anything to the young servant. Kokoro was indebted to the princess and wanted to repay her kindness. Since the princess was due to leave tomorrow, Kokoro had decided to retrieve the book. Even if it meant sneaking into the king's private office.

Having mentally prepared herself, Kokoro stood and made her way to the king's study. She had just come around the corner to the king's office when saw Maiko quietly walkout.

"What are you doing?" Kokoro asked.

Maiko quickly turned around; fear written all over her face.

Kokoro looked to see Maiko was clutching a book to her chest.

"You found it?!" Kokoro gasped out, seeing the title of the book.

Maiko had just opened her mouth to answer when both women heard voices coming.

Kokoro quickly grabbed Maiko and pushed them into the king's study. Both women pressed their ears to the door, listening for any signs.

Maiko and Kokoro both gasped in fear when they saw the doorknob turn. Kokoro quickly looked around and grabbed Maiko by the arm and ran behind the king's desk. Both women scrambled under the desk, they both had to tuck themselves in tight and could barely breathe.

They both heard the door open, and footsteps enter the room.

The footsteps stopped just on the other side of the desk, both women shaking. Kokoro clamped a hand over her mouth and Maiko bit her lip to keep the whimper from escaping her mouth.

"Everything looks fine, come on. I want to get something to eat, Tenchi and Taho will be on their way to take over for us." Both women heard a guard say.

"Hold on, I thought I heard something when I opened the door."

Both women turned to each other in horror.

They both started shaking in fear when they heard the footsteps come closer to their position when the guard called out, "I didn't hear anything, come on. Yamato and Gahaye passed by earlier and didn't say anything about this hall."

Nothing but silence stretched on as both women pleaded to whatever gods that were listening that the guards would leave. After what felt like an eternity, their prayers were answered.

"Alright, come on."

The footsteps walked away and soon the door closed.

Both women turned to each and let out the breath they had been holding and climbed out from under the desk.

"Kokoro, what are you doing here?!" Maiko asked.

"I was coming to look for the book that you are currently holding. I wanted to find it for the princess since she is leaving tomorrow but it appears we had the same thought." Kokoro answered once she had caught her breath.

"Come, we need to leave while the guards are changing and I have been away from the princess's side far too long," Maiko said, grabbing Kokoro's hand.

Both women cautiously exited the room, Kokoro going first, making sure the coast was clear. When Kokoro saw that the hall was empty, she waved Maiko out and both servants quickly went their separate ways.

Rin felt like beating her head against the table by this point. Suitor number 15 was just droning on and on about his horses and his farm. Even if Rin wasn't already promised to the Inu family, there was no way her father would ever consider this suitor for her.

This man had to be double if not triple her age and was bald. He didn't appear to be in top form either with his large belly sticking out. He also seemed to be wheezing every other sentence as well.

Rin looked to her father, silently pleading with him to end this conversation for her.

Her father caught up on her pleading eyes and came to her recuse, "My good sir Touya, your time is up. The evening is late, and my daughter needs her rest."

Touya seemed surprised at his dismissal but nodded to the princess before stepping away.

"You have done well, Arina, that was the last suitor. You can either stay or you may call it a night." King Ishida whispered in her ear.

"I would rather call it night father; this evening has worn me down. I wish to be escorted to my room and be alone for the rest of the night." Rin sighed out.

"Of course, dear daughter." Rin watched as her father searched for Asano and turned just in time to see Maiko suddenly appear.

The king quickly gave commands to Rin's personal guard and servant.

King Ishida then turned and called attention to everyone in the great dining hall.

"Everyone, the hour is late, and my daughter is exhausted from the festivities. The princess will be retiring for the night. Arina, come. I'm sure everyone would like to hear a few words from you before you retire for the evening."

Rin eyed her father; she knew was he was really trying to tell her was that she needed to say goodbye to her people. Rin thought back to the conversation she had with her parents from the day before:

Rin sat poking at her breakfast and sighed. Two more days and she would be leaving the kingdom. She would be leaving her home for the western lands. She knew that everyone in attendance for the celebration tomorrow had no idea their princess would be leaving the day after, never to return.

Rin had been wondering how her parents were going to explain her absence to the kingdom or that she had accepted a marriage proposal so soon after the celebration.

"Father…how are you going to tell the kingdom about me leaving?" Rin asked, placing her chopsticks down, finding that she had no appetite.

Over the past few weeks, Rin had found that she could barely eat. She had only noticed this morning when she had tied her kimono in place and realized that it was too big around her waist. She was already on the petite side; it probably wasn't good for her to lose any more weight.

Rin knew it wasn't healthy that she wasn't eating but with everything going on, she found all her favorite meals tasted bland to her now. Maybe once she was in the western lands, their food would be different…..maybe she would finally be able to eat again.

"Well, we plan on giving it at least two weeks before any formal announcement was made. Your mother and I planned on telling everyone that a marriage proposal came on the same day of the celebration via courier, and you accepted the day after the celebration giving it much thought."

Queen Kaori then spoke, "Regarding your disappearance, we will tell the kingdom that you have left to inspect the mining operations at Asago at your father's request. It's time for the princess of the lands to be familiar with the operations that brings coin to our kingdom. While you are in Asago, your future husband will be picking you up from there. Hence you had no need to return to the kingdom."

"I see…." Rin said quietly.

How had she been so blind…..her parents had always controlled everything she did. Even now with her leaving, her parents were still controlling her.

Finding that she could no longer be in her parents' presence any longer, Rin quickly excused herself, not even waiting for confirmation from her parents.

Rin rounded the corner quickly to find herself alone. She paused and cupped a hand over her mouth, holding back the sob that threatened to escape her dry lips.

"I can't be here anymore…." The princess quietly said.

At that moment, Rin realized that her home no longer felt like home. Rin made the slow walk back to her chambers feeling completely alone.

Rin stood from her seat at the end of the table and made her way to stand next to her father. Taking a deep breath, she looked out upon the sea of faces, the people she had come to love. The people who had lost so much due to the war.

Clearing her throat, "Thank you all so much for coming tonight. I cannot tell you how much it means to me that you have all decided to celebrate my special night."

Looking once again at her people, Rin saw a few faces with smiles and a few with somber looks.

Feeling a heaviness upon her heart, knowing that the somber faces could only be because of lost loved ones, Rin added, "I want you all to know how much I love our kingdom and that I would do anything to bring you all peace. Anything…..I am your princess and would see to my kingdom's happiness and I will do whatever takes to ensure our kingdom prospers."

Rin was in tears at this point, bow low to her people, and choked out, "I give you my word, I will do my best for our kingdom!"

Rin felt tears run down her face and then heard soft clapping. Looking up with teary eyes, Rin saw that a few people in the crowd were smiling at her. Soon the great dining hall erupted in cheers and applause. Rin could only stand there in shock. Smiling through her tears, Rin felt her father lead her away and be handed off to Maiko and Asano.

"That was beautiful princess," Maiko whispered wrapping an arm around her waist, allowing the princess to cry on her shoulder.

Rin felt her body relax once she sunk her body into the tub of warm water. Upon reaching her chambers, Maiko had helped her out of her heavy furisode and had ordered the guards to bring the large tub in. Once the tub was secure, Maiko had pulled on the lever releasing the hot water and filled the tub with rose and lavender petals.

Rin leaned her head back and could feel her muscles relax. Rin took the time to quiet her mind, tomorrow her journey begins to the western lands. Traveling by sea was going to be exhausting but there was no other choice. If they took a carriage, then that would take 3-4 weeks.

"Maiko, are you prepared for tomorrow? Have you said goodbye to your family?" Rin said with her eyes closed.

Rin heard Maiko sighed and she quietly answered, "Yes we have said our goodbyes. My parents are proud of me. They know I've been loyally serving you and it's a high honor to accompany you to your new home. We will write of course but….I will miss them."

Rin opened her eyes, turning to her servant. She took in Maiko's sad appearance, "Maiko I'm sorry…I didn't even think about you leaving your family until now. I mentioned earlier that I can find some excuse to keep you here if you wish-" but was cut off by Maiko.

"Princess, I am staying by your side no matter what. You have my word." Maiko said as she knelt next to the tub and patting Rin on her head.

Maiko allowed the princess more time to soak away her worries while the servant tidied up her chambers and packed away her furisode.

"Come come, time to get you ready for bed." Maiko stood with a large clothe to help Rin dry off.

Maiko had just wrapped the clothe around the princess's body when a knock was heard. Maiko quickly ran to the door to halt whoever was at the door.

Maiko soon stood back as Queen Kaori walked in holding a large box.

"Rin, you did splendid tonight. I know it must have been hard." Her mother said.

Rin bowed to her mother, not really knowing what else to say. Rin just wanted to be away from her parents. She didn't trust anything they told her anymore.

Queen Kaori noticed her daughter's muted response. Kaori turned towards Maiko, but the servant only bowed as well.

Fighting back the sigh that she wanted to let out, the queen instead walked to the Rin's bed and laid down the large box.

"This arrived this morning from the western lands. It's a present from the Inu family." Kaori said with a smile.

"I see….I'll leave it for the morning. Thank you, mother." Rin politely said.

The queen sadly smiled; she understood her daughter simply wanted her to leave.

"I shall say goodnight then dear daughter."

"Goodnight mother," Rin said, facing away from her mother, putting on her robe.

Once the door closed, Rin heard Maiko say, "Princess, I know that you are itching to look into that box."

Rin turned back to her trusted servant and let out a happy squeal and ran to the large box.

Rin removed the large lid and folded back the washi paper that laid on top. Her hands flying to her mouth in shock once she saw what was inside.

"Well, what is it?!" Maiko asked coming up beside her to peek inside.

Rin reached in and removed the garment.

"It's beautiful," Rin whispered.

It was a deep red heavy cloak perfect for cold winter days. It was soft to the touch and the hood was lined with fur pelt. Maiko helped Rin pull it over her shoulders and secure the knot in front. Rin also noticed that on side of the cloak there was a family crest stitched in white. Rin lifted her arm to look closer at the symbol.

"Is that their family crest?" Maiko asked as she patted down the cloak, allowing it fully to engulf the princess.

"It must be," Rin said fingering the fabric.

Maiko moved Rin to the large mirror so she could see herself. Maiko watched as for the first time in the past few weeks a true smile graced the princess's face.

"You look beautiful in it," Maiko said readjusting one side of the hood.

Rin smiled at her appearance. It was a well handmade cloak; she couldn't wait to thank the Inu family for the gift.

Rin walked back to the box and looked in again to see a note. She reached in and pulled out the piece of paper.

For your special day.

"The Inu family….." Rin quietly whispered.

"They seem kind so far, princess," Maiko said with a smile.

"Yes….I hope they are." Rin answered.

Maiko helped Rin out the thick cloak and was about to set it back in the box when Rin called out, "Maiko, you have done enough for me tonight. Please go, spend some time with your family before you go to bed. I insist. I can handle the rest."

Rin took the heavy cloak and placed it on the bed, turning to hug her long-time friend. Maiko bowed and then closed the door quietly behind her.

Rin went back to the box and pushed open the washi paper to place the cloak back in when something shimmery caught her eye. Moving the washi paper out the way, Rin discovered another item of clothing. Pulling out the item, Rin gasped.

It was a long dress with thin straps. The front of the dress had a gradual slope, coming to a v shape and a low dip in the back. Or at least, Rin hoped it was back. It was almost white in color but had an iridescent shimmer to it. Rin looked towards the box and saw another note.

For you to find rest in.

"To find rest in?..." Rin said, looking back at the dress now realizing it was a nightgown.

Rin studied the note again, this note had no name though and the handwriting was different. Was this from Inuyasha? Was he expecting her to wear this on their wedding night?

Worriedly chewing on her lip, Rin walked back to the mirror and held the dress in front of her. It was beautiful. Feeling embarrassed that her future husband would pick something out like this for her to wear, Rin lowered the dress.

"For my kingdom…." Rin whispered, the princess shrugged out of her robe and stepped into the dress.

The nightgown slid sensually over her figure and fit her just right, the length coming to her knees. The garment enhanced her petite figure and stepping towards the mirror, Rin realized that the dress was sheer. Her nipples were almost visible through the dress. Turning around to examine the back, Rin could see the back was so low that with just a few more inches the beginning of her bottom would be visible.

Coming to fully look at herself again, Rin felt a blush come upon her face. She had never worn anything like this before. Rin did a few twirls and found herself laughing when the dress spun around her. Rin came to a stop when she got dizzy, going towards her bed. Rin moved the box to the floor and laid down.

Rolling around a few times, Rin loved how the material felt against her skin. Turning to her side, the princess let out a sigh and closed her eyes.

'I'll just rest my eyes for a few moments and then take this off.' Rin thought to herself as a yawn overtook her.

Rin groggily opened her eyes and saw that she was by the God Tree.

"When did I get here?" Rin said, looking around in confusion.

Rin then looked down and gasped, she was still the nightgown she had received.

Quickly standing up Rin looked around to see if amber eyes was present. Finding no one Rin turned around only to bump into a solid mass. Stumbling back, Rin closed her eyes waiting for the impact of her fall but felt herself being pulled upright and pressed against something warm.

Realizing she was now standing; Rin slowly opened her eyes to find herself staring at someone's hard muscle chest. Taking a deep breath, she allowed her eyes to slowly traveled upwards until she found herself staring into a pair of golden amber eyes.

Rin felt all breath leave her body as she gazed upon who the mystery man was.

Amber eyes stared back into her hazel orbs.

He was beautiful.

How could a man be so beautiful? Continuing to look upon his ethereal face, Rin realized he wasn't a man.

'He's youkai…' Rin thought as she took in his unnatural eye color, his silver hair, the crescent moon upon his forehead, and the magenta stripes on his cheeks. He even had the same magenta stripes across his eyelids. He also had pointed ears and some sort of thick fur pelt that wrapped around his shoulder.

He was huge too, he had to be at least a foot and half taller than her. She only came to his sternum.

"Are you?..." Rin quietly whispered.

"Hm." Was all amber eyes said.

The youkai and human woman came to a standstill, neither moving nor speaking.

Rin swallowed past the lump in her throat and slowly raised her hand towards his face, wanting to touch his stripes. Her hand was quickly caught by his larger one and all motion stopped. Rin held her breath, not sure what to expect.

Amber eyes gently slid his hand from her wrist to her small fingers and brought her hand to his mouth and kissed the center of her palm. The youkai continued holding her hand, staring intently into her eyes.

"Did any suitors touch you tonight?" Amber eyes suddenly asked, tracing her fingers with his thumb.

"No…" Rin answered.

Rin was at a loss; she should be terrified of this youkai holding her so close and touching her so, but she wasn't. His light tracing of her fingers and palm was causing her body to feel tingly. She had never felt this sensation before. It felt like her body was tightening, she felt a heat building in the pit of her stomach.

"Good," Rin heard amber eyes say before he tucked her hair behind her ear and leaning in to sniff at her neck.

Not daring to move, Rin let out a shaky breath and asked, "Why does it matter if any suitors touched me tonight?"

"Because you belong to this Sesshomaru," Amber eyes said before Rin felt his wet tongue lick a line from the side of her neck to her jaw before capturing her lips in an open mouth kiss.

Rin had gasped when she felt his tongue touch her and amber eyes used that to his advantage, swiftly pushing his tongue into her sweet mouth.

Rin was confused at first when his tongue entered her mouth and didn't know what to do. She stiffly stood there until she felt his tongue pushing against her, coaxing her along. Following his lead, Rin slowly pushed back. She felt amber eyes….no Sesshomaru push her until her back hit the God Tree. He then angled his mouth over her's deepening the kiss, causing the young princess to moan out at the new sensation.

The princess could now feel a warmth spreading from her belly to her womanhood. Needing to relieve the achy feeling that was now coursing through her body, she tentatively rubbed her thighs together.

Sesshomaru then pulled away, his hungry eyes sweeping over Rin's heated body.

Rin stood there, trying to catch her breath, and found Sesshomaru's eyes fixed upon her chest. Looking down, Rin quickly crossed her arms. Rin had forgotten that the nightgown was sheer, and the earlier actions had caused her nipples to harden and were now straining against the fabric.

Rin pulled her still captured hand free from Sesshomaru's grasp and turned away, pressing her forehead to the God Tree.

'I shouldn't be doing this; I've been promised to Inuyasha.' Rin thought to herself.

"I can't…." Rin whispered out.

With Rin's back now visible to Sesshomaru, she then felt his soft fingers brush along her expose skin. His hand trailing dangerously close to her bottom, his warm fingers pressing against her cool skin. Rin's breath hitch and she shuddered. A soft zing coursing from the spot Sesshomaru had pressed upon to between her thighs.

Rin then felt Sesshomaru press his chest into her back, gently caressing her hips.

"Why?" Sesshomaru asked, leaning down, and nuzzling the side of her face with this nose.

"Because….I…" Rin found it hard to speak with the way Sesshomaru was touching her.

Gods, she felt like her whole body was burning, the ache building up in her belly. She could feel dampness growing between her thighs.

Sesshomaru then lowered his hands from her hips to her thighs and then slid his warm hands between her creamy legs, widening her stance.

Rin was panting, all coherent thought gone.

She knew she shouldn't be doing this but…..his hands…the way he kissed her….

She could feel his mouth kissing along the back of her neck, stopping occasionally to lick and gently bite.

'I can't….I can't…..I can't…..' Rin was repeating over and over in her head.

Rin felt Sesshomaru bunch the fabric of her nightgown between her thighs, looking down Rin watched as Sesshomaru's hand disappeared between her legs and his warm hand sliding up her quivering thigh.

She had opened her mouth to tell Sesshomaru they needed to stop but her voice caught in her throat when she felt his warm finger slowly and softly brush against her wet sex.

Rin whimpered at the new feeling and Sesshomaru growled out, "Hmm…. you're so soft my little Rin…."

Sesshomaru then slid his free up to her covered breast gently massaging it and rubbing his thumb against her nipple.

Rin no longer able to hold back the feelings that were coursing through her body, leaned her head back against Sesshomaru's chest and started panting.

The soft pants of a trembling Rin filled the small space surrounding the God Tree.

When Sesshomaru had learned that Inuyasha would be going in his place, Sesshomaru had stormed out of the castle in pure rage and destroy a nearby forest. His father found him a few hours later sitting in the destroyed forest and said nothing.

His father merely sat next to him and both youkai watched as the sun rose.

Sesshomaru rolled to his side, "Soon, my mate….."

Ok, so let's talk about the smut. I wanted this smut to be more about the sensuality of a young teenage woman having her first orgasm. Now Rin thinks she is promised to Inuyasha but she isn't. We all know at this point, she is marrying Sesshomaru (I'll come back to that in a moment) but she doesn't know that. While this is happening, Rin knows she shouldn't be doing this but her body is feeling touches she has never felt before and her body wins. This is why I went with lighter smut for this chapter. It was more about the feelings she was experiencing than anything else.

Now did everyone catch on to why Sesshomaru had Kagome make him that charm?

The next chapter deals with Rin traveling to the western lands and her mental state. Rin thinks she has just cheated on her future husband, has barely been eating, and is somewhat depressed. All these will take a toll on her in the next chapter and a catalyst will cause things to come to a head.
