Kagome was able to get Sesshomaru's number for Rin. She had not been so nervous in her life to speak to someone; it was all a big misunderstanding. She decides to text first and see if he would give the chance for her to call. She feels text messages can give out the wrong message depending on how you read it.
Rin: Hi Sesshomaru, it is Rin. I know you are probably wondering how I got your number. I wanted to talk to you about what happened yesterday. If you are available, could you give me a call?
Rin thought she would leave out whom she got his number from and hoped that he would just call her without questioning anything.
The phone rings, "that was fast".
"Hi Sesshomaru".
"Rin what do you want to discuss?"
"Although we did our thing in class yesterday, I think that there was a big misunderstanding. I was out of line for the things I said. It does not excuse the behavior I exemplified. You had nothing to do with it, you were simply responding because of my actions. I understand that we are all responsible for our actions and shouldn't be too surprised when someone responds defending themselves".
"Hmm, I can take that. I also will apologize for what I said to you. It could have been taken as a threat".
"Thank you, I am glad we were able to talk this through. We are the best dancers in there and it would be a shame for everyone to look to us, and we can't get along".
"You are quite right. I am the better dancer".
Rin giggles, "Okay I will let you have that. You do have some moves on you. Oh! I was also wondering about the other day when you took me home, I wanted you to finish that conversation".
Sesshomaru feels delighted to be able to talk to her. He felt bad for how things ended up, but he had to look like he cared about Kaguras's feelings. He truly did not want to hurt Rin or make Kagura look dumb by not defending her.
"You remember the conversation? You may need to refresh my memory," he says acting clueless.
"Well, I believe you were going to ask me how I got into dance."
"Oh right, how did you?"
"Well, I always wanted to dance. I had older brothers that were into it and me being the baby sister, I wanted to be just like them. It was my thing for a while until an unfortunate event happened and I thought I would never dance again. Eventually my heart found its way to dance again and another strike of more bad luck, I walked away from it yet again. But now I feel a lot freer. I dedicate my dancing to my brothers who loved it probably way more than I did".
"May I ask what those events were that led you to not want to dance anymore? You don't need to respond if you don't want to".
"You caught onto that huh".
"Hmph" Sesshomaru genuinely wanted to know, he wanted her to keep talking.
"Maybe we could talk about it some other time. Maybe we could become friends. I would not mind hanging outside of class".
"Are you sure? You seemed quite fond of that boy at the bar. Do you think he will be uncomfortable?"
"Are you serious?" she giggles. "I was just seeing if I still had it and I do. I have no one tying me down. I will never want that feeling again". She says the last part sharply.
Sesshomaru caught that and thought maybe that was one of her bad experiences she did not want to discuss.
"Kagura seems to like me now. I think she did not trust me around you for some odd reason, but she has nothing to worry about. I may have said that I could have you if I wanted to, but it was just to make her mad".
Sesshomaru thinks if he were not with Kagura, he would have her in every way possible.
"That is just the oddest thing to say. You females say some things that are just evil to each other".
"It is not right but we do it anyway. I don't mean to offend but she honestly was working my last nerve".
"I hope you meant what you said about making Kagura mad. Sometimes when people speak like that, it is the truth. Do you think you could have me if you so willed it?
Rin thought yes but she couldn't reveal that to him, so she diverted the question.
"I think this is a newfound friendship". She giggles. "I am going to let you go, I will see you in class if not since I have your number, we can chat it up sometimes".
Sesshomaru annoyed because he wanted to keep hearing her sweet voice, but he would pretend he had things to do as well. He noticed she dodged the question but that was fine for now. He will ask again at an appropriate time.
"What have you got planned today?"
"I am going to my self-defense class today. What are you doing?"
"I have to review some paperwork and that is all".
"Okay I hope you enjoy the rest of your day, Mr. Businessman".
"You too little Ms. Fighter".
Ring hung up the phone in a better mood. She did not want any beef with Sesshomaru, she actually genuinely liked him. She was attracted to him and was annoyed with the fact he had a girlfriend. She secretly hoped they would become partners because she has been working on a number for that private dance. She was nervous about it; she never danced for anyone in that manner, not even her ex. She impressed herself with this confidence.
After Rin's self-defense class, she gets at text from Kagome saying she would like to meet up the next day to work on the dance routine, Yuka will attend too.
The next day the girls meet up to go over the routine. "Why didn't you invite Kagura?"
"I don't have Kaguras's number, and I don't think she will make it, she is always late, and she is not dependable. I hope she has the routine down packed. I remember when we did the routine as a group, and she fell because she was late and had to learn quickly. If she really was interested, she could have reached out to any one of us".
"Yeah, that is true. I think they may have an idea who our dance partners will be anyway," Yuka says.
"I think so too," Rin says.
A couple days later they enter the class and like Rin predicted Kagura was not there yet anyway. The group practice their dance routine together; they were confident they would blow it out the box. They were now ready to perform to the class.
"Okay from the looks of it, we have one group ready to perform their routine. They are minus one, but I believe it will work either way," Sango says.
The music begins and everyone is on one accord. They coordinated the dance very well. Sango whispers to Miroku, "Those two seem to connect very well. They complement each other".
They were impressed and so was everyone else. They really had the best team leaders to get the group in harmony with one another.
Some of the other groups were ready to perform; they did very well too. "So, we have 2 more groups that will perform, and they said they will be ready by next class. Also, within that time we will let you know who your new partners will be. Good job everyone!"
Sesshomaru was enjoying himself so much; he did not even realize Kagura never showed up to class.
As the girls are leaving out, "Kagura didn't even show up. I wonder if that will mess up her chances with her own boyfriend being her partner. They were already in the same group together," Yuka says.
"She may have had something important to take care of. It is really none of our business". Rin says.
"Maybe you are right. I see you all on Friday; I am going with Inuyasha tonight".
"Sounds like you both will have a fun night" Yuka says.
Rin laughs and she looks over and sees Sesshomaru and he glances at her. She waves to him, "See ya Friday Sesshomaru".
Sesshomaru nods, by the end of the class, Sesshomaru realizes Kagura never showed up. He gave her the benefit of the doubt but now her behavior is becoming a nuisance. He would have to confront her and get to the bottom of this. This will determine their relationship, will it end? More than likely, Sesshomaru's patience with Kagura no longer had anything to hold on to, he was done. This life with Kagura bored him and it was time for him to cut ties.
