Olivia enters her room, and quickly realizes it's empty. After checking the bathroom, and then looking around the room. She notices the closet door is ajar. After pushing it open further, she sees Mellie's duffle bag is missing. She sighs as she says out loud, "Where are you Mel?"
Shaking her head, she looks out the window and sees her car is gone. She then decides to call her. Upon dialing her number, the phone rings four times and then goes to voicemail. Knowing she must have rejected the call, she hangs up and calls back. But this time, the rejection comes much quicker.
Annoyed, but knowing that this is par for the course with her. She takes a breath, and by the time the voicemail plays she leaves a message. She says, "Hey Mel. I'm just calling to check on you. I heard about what happened between you and Abby. And, I wanted to make sure you were okay. Please call me back. Bye."
She wanted to say much more before hanging up. But, what exactly could she say? She doesn't want to appear to be taking sides, and to be fair. She can't take sides, because she didn't witness what occurred. All she knows is two of her closest friends are at odds, and the happiness of their living situation depends on this getting resolved. Ergo, it's imperative she fixes this mess for all of their sakes as soon as possible.
Trapped in her head, trying to figure out her next move. The surrounding quiet is helping her; but that quiet ends as her phone buzzes. She checks her phone and sees an email alert. As she clicks on the alert she sees it's an email from the condo management company.
Curious, she opens it and sees a notice about some break-ins that have been happening in surrounding neighborhoods. And, as a result the security will be increasing until the offenders are apprehended. Additionally, they are asking everyone to review their camera footage to see if any criminal behavior was captured.
As if someone slapped her in the back of her head, it hits her like a ton of bricks, as she says, "Shit, the cameras." She suddenly remembers their doorbell camera. If she got this email, so did Mellie and Abby. And since they all have access to the security footage via their security app. Either one of them could review the cameras at any point, and discover Fitz's latest visit.
Why didn't she think about the cameras till now? She ponders. Realizing how quickly this could unfold. Her anxiety rises as she realizes her and Fitz's secret is on the cusp of being revealed much quicker than either of them anticipated. And, there's truly nothing she can do to stop it.
Completely unsure in the moment of what to do; just that she needs to touch base with Fitz. She gives him a call; but there's no answer after five rings, and the call goes to voicemail. Thinking that's incredibly odd; yet she still leaves a message. "Hey, I hope everything is okay. Anyway, call me. I just realized something we need to talk about. Bye."
No sooner than her call ends, she gets a text. "Hey, sorry. Mellie's here. I will call you in a minute." She reads the text a few times, and she is in pure shock. What in the hell is she visiting him for? Has she already seen the footage? Is that why she sent her call to voicemail? Or is she running to him, while she licks her wounds from her bout with Abby? Inquiring minds want to know indeed.
She paces for several minutes, and then just as quickly as worry set in a moment ago. She realizes this is Mellie's motive every time she needs sympathy. This is how she always gets his attention, she cries on his shoulder until she feels better. Then she's off and running like nothing ever happened, and he's left thinking she actually values their friendship. When all along, she just used him to tend to her bruised ego, so he's left to deal with his feelings alone.
She feels herself getting upset, as she says, "What a bitch move. Please don't fall for it Fitz." She's aware of her emotions. But, she's not sure of what she's feeling emotional about more. Is it that he could fall for her antics, and be swept back into her web? Or is it that she's incredibly over Mellie's ill treatment of Fitz. And, she's ready to check her about her behavior because she cares for him on a deeper level, or is it just because their friends? Hell, does it even matter why she's upset? Either way, she feels in her gut that Mellie's motivations are super selfish, and like Abby said earlier, somebody has got to help her understand behavior has consequences.
Olivia's mind is swimming with random thoughts and questions, and she has to get a grip. She knows that she can't answer the questions herself; the answers she needs can only come from two people, Mellie or Fitz. Her thoughts now focus on what's happening between them right now. And she decides to let it be; it is what it is. She'll find out soon enough.
As if someone knew she needed a distraction, her phone buzzes and she sees messages coming in asking about party details for tonight at her house. She's confused at first but then remembers Mellie's drunken party planning fiasco.
Her annoyance spikes when she sees a message from Sara, her condo association chair, who is advising there's no permit on file for them to have a gathering tonight. "Fuck!" She says out loud. How's she supposed to clean up this mess?
Meanwhile, Fitz is sitting on the couch, with Mellie a few cushions down from him. While Harry and Drew are sitting in the chairs, and Stacy is sitting on the arm of the chair Drew is sitting in.
As Fitz observes, he listens as everyone tries to talk to her, and explain their opinion of her situation with her parents, and her fight with Abby. Yet, it's becoming more obvious that she's losing her patience with them because nobody is in agreement with her reasoning, that her parents can't just tighten their purse strings whenever they want.
But they all advise her that she has to answer to them, if she chooses to live off of their dime. And, they all feel her anger toward Abby is misplaced. She's really just angry at her parents for forcing her hand, at revealing what she's doing before she was ready to share anything with them.
This general group consensus sends her into another orbit of frustration, that Fitz clearly identifies, by her tone and body posture. While he feels for her to a degree. If he's being honest he's only been partly listening. He can't help but think to himself, did she always sound this whiney when she showed up on his doorstep in the past? She's talking a mile a minute, and from what he can make out, she's in rare form, and is clearly not considering anybody's point of view but her own.
As he taps back into the discussion, he notices how quickly she glosses over Harry's inquiry about how she was spending the money. He could see the uneasiness in her body posture and hear it in her voice.
His interest peaks the more she seems to squirm in the moment; he knows what is set to happen next, it's what she always does when she gets overwhelmed. He then hears her say, "Oh my God! Why can't anybody see how I'm being wronged? This is bullshit! I deserve better than this. Some friends you all are!" She then storms off and goes into Fitz's room and slams the door.
They all look at each other as Fitz says, "Well that went well." They all crack a smile, as Harry replies, "What in the entire fuck is her deal man?" Fitz shrugs his shoulders as he responds, "She has an issue with being told no." Stacey shakes her head as she responds, "That's clear."
Drew chimes in, "Beyond that; why did she think we'd agree with her angst?" Stacy replies, "Good point babe. Maybe it's because you all have known her for so long." Harrison responds, "Or maybe she's just being Mellie, playing her usual game where she uses Fitz to save the day."
Fitz looks at his friend and smiles, as he replies, "Get out of my head bro." Drew and Stacy both agree instantly with what has been said, and simultaneously say, "Makes sense." But Stacy asks, "How exactly does she think you're going to be able to fix this situation? Especially with Abby."
