Abby walks into the house, feeling much better than she did when she left earlier. The gym visit was definitely a necessity. With her head clear, she's ready to face whatever the day has left ahead. And knows that her emotions have to stay in check for that to happen.
When she gets half way into the house she sees Liv sitting on the couch, on the phone. They share a look, and Abby heads downstairs to her room. But before she gets all the way down the steps. She hears Olivia say, "Thanks Sara, see you tonight. Bye." She instantly turns around and comes back up the steps, as she asks, "Uhm, what did i just hear?" She takes a breath as she replies, "My God. I almost don't even want to talk about it. Mellie is like the mistress of chaos."
Abby quickly says, "On that we can agree. But what does that have to do with Sara coming here tonight?" She replies, "Sara sent me an email about the party Mellie drunkenly invited people to, because we don't have a permit for a party." Abby shakes her head as she says, "Damn, she invited neighbors, that's how she found out about it." Olivia nods as she replies, "Yup. And of course neighbors talk. Even the ones who aren't coming, but got the invite. So anyway, i called her to discuss the situation. But, before i could say anything she told me everything was fine. She'd talked to Mellie and worked everything out."
Abby asks, "So Mellie called her and settled it before you could?" She replies, "Apparently so. But yet she's not taking my calls. I called her twice, she sent me to voicemail both times. And she hasn't called me back yet."
Abby has a look of confusion, as she asks, "Wait, I thought you went to talk to her before i left for the gym." Olivia replies, "Oh, fun fact. She must have left either before i got home, while you were downstairs. Or she left while you and I were downstairs talking. Because when i went to her room, she was gone along with one of her duffel bags."
She rolls her eyes as she outwardly says, "My God she's so fucking childish. How is she going to throw a party and she's not even here?" Olivia shrugs her shoulders as she replies, "You tell me so we both know. Because i have no idea. Unless she plans on coming home at some point. In the meantime, that high-jacks our plans for game night."
Abby shakes her head as she responds, "I feel like we are living in the twilight zone sometimes when dealing with her. Only she would force people into having a whole damn party, just because she's upset. So because her life is in disarray right now, everybody else has to pay the price. That's what this is about, you know that right? She's in her damn feelings because she's not getting her way. It's a classic tantrum."
She nods as she says, "Yes. I do. And to be honest. I don't have the energy to care. If she wants to throw a party to deflect from the crazy that is her. Let's do it. Because right now. I don't think anything I can say to her privately that would do well for our friendship."
Sensing there's a hell of allot more to her irritation with Mellie in the moment. She asks, "What did I miss?" She didn't realize her annoyance was so obvious; but she clearly can't deny how she's feeling. So she says, "Like I said, when i went to talk to her I found out she was gone. And then I found out she went to the guys house." Abby laughs as she sighs, and says, "Oh, the old Fitz will protect me and defend me game huh?" She sighs as she replies, "You got it. She pulled that card immediately. Because she knows she needs him to help her get back in her family's good graces."
Abby says, "But she is in their good graces. She just has to produce Nick. And follow their guidelines regarding her spending." Olivia replies, "Girl, you know that's not what she wants to do. So if she can get Fitz to help her fix things with her parents; that's what she's going to do." Abby responds, "Liv that's incredibly disrespectful. Do you think he's going to fall for it?" She sighs as she replies, "I surely hope not. Especially after he's already told her he's not pursuing her anymore. But, he did care deeply for her."
She nods as she says, "I know. But he deserves better than someone who is just using him." She agrees as she replies, "Yes. I agree with you there. It just pisses me off that she knows how he felt about her, and that he is moving on with his life. But she has the gall to ask him to help keep her gravy train going with her parents, by likely compromising himself to do it. It's wrong for her to do that to anybody, but especially to do it to him."
Something about her tone that hits different in the moment. Abby looks at her and then Olivia feels her stare. She asks, "What's wrong? Do I have something on my face?" Abby walks over to her, sitting a cushion away as she says, "I've been noticing something different about you lately when it comes to talking about Fitz." She instantly reacts, saying, "Girl stop it. What are you talking about? I'm not doing this with you." Her attempt to dismiss her approach doesn't work though; Abby persists, as she says, "Liv. Look at me. Is the friend you've been spending time with Fitz?"
The direct question hangs in the air for what feels like several minutes, but really is just a few seconds. She knows there's no avoiding it. No quick witted comment is going to put this to rest. And given her last conversation with him, and the fact that she could literally pull a video of their first encounter that took place here, two weeks ago; she decides if not now, when will she tell her? She takes a breath and says, "Yes. it's Fitz."
She clasps her hands over her mouth, and shakes her head as she says, "Damn it. I knew it. I knew it. Why didn't you tell me?" She admittedly replies, "Abs, i wanted to. But things have been moving so fast that I didn't know how to tell you. I'm sorry. We truly were trying to figure things out first. There are some delicate moving parts to this thing. Please don't be mad at me."
She hears her, and understands her point. So she lets her off the hook as she says, "I'm not mad at you Liv. I get it. I've suspected for a minute who it was. But, i didn't want to push you. That said, Damn girl. He must have some unforeseeable moves for real the way he's had you swooning." They share a laugh as she replies, "Whatever." Abby presses as she responds, "Nah, you owe me details lady. Whatever isn't going to cut it." She agrees she does owe her some tea. To be honest it feels good to be able to share what she's been experiencing emotionally. But, given all they have to get done for tonight; this isn't the time for a full dish session. So she replies, "I agree. I owe you info. But, we have allot to get done for this party tonight. So, let's get things in order. And i promise as soon as possible I will answer everything." She doesnt want to let her off the hook. But says, "Okay. Deal. But despite not giving me the tea. What are you going to do about Mellie? She's going to shit a brick when she finds out about you two."
