As they give in to the kiss, allowing the moment to move them. The sound of buzzing phones break their vibe. Normally they'd be cool with ignoring the phones. But, with both of their phones going off simultaneously. It's a given that something important must be happening.
Breaking their kiss, they both reach for their phones and once they open them up, in unison they say, "Oh shit.' They both look at one another and know that if Mellie didn't know about them before, she certainly will know about them soon. She hears him say, "She clearly hasn't seen this yet, because she hasn't called either one of us." She agrees as she adds, "Or came home."
He nods as he says, "True. Who posted this?" She sighs as she replies, "Monica. Looks like she's a bit pissed off." He didn't recognize the user name, but when he hears her legal name he recalls her, but asks, "Why would she be pissed, and why post this?" She takes a breath and brings him up to speed about their conversation last night. When she finishes he's grinning as he says, "Damn babe. You were going to throw hands over me? That's hot" She laughs as she replies, "That's all you heard." He nods as he smiles and they share a laugh as she responds, "Typical man."
As their laughter settles, he asks, "Seriously, how are you feeling about the picture being posted?" She shrugs her shoulders as she responds, "I don't feel anything except ready for it to be what it's going to be. And this picture sums it up. We are unapologetically together, and now everybody knows it." He smiles as he replies, "I like that. Unapologetically together."
She smiles in return as she responds, "Me too babe." They share another kiss and smile and he says, "Come on, let's go start the game, and I will order the food." She agrees and they walk hand in hand into the living room, where they get ready to watch the game.
20 minutes later they're eating and watching the end of the second quarter, when Mellie walks in hotter than fire. They both see the rage in her eyes before she speaks, and prepare to deal with what they know is an unrelenting task from hell. The moment their eyes meet hers, she says, "Isn't this cozy. What's this a continuation from last night?" They hear the anger in her tone, and it's obvious she's seen the picture. Still, Olivia wants to remain calm as she says, "Mel, we wanted to talk to you before it got out…..."
She cuts her off as she scoffs. "You wanted to talk to me about fucking around behind my back, Gee thanks. Was that before or after the photo was posted on the gram?" She sighs as she responds, "Mel, it wasn't like tha.." She cuts her off as she replies, "It wasn't like what Liv? Are you two sneaking around behind my back?"
Fitz is getting annoyed with her, but tries to remain calm too as he replies, "Mellie, we are willing to talk to you. But not like this. You've got to calm down." She smart;y quips, "Easy for you to tell me to calm down when you're not the one who's been lied to and betrayed by their friends, and made to look like a complete fool!"
Olivia is getting fed up as she replies, "Oh my God. you can't be serious. You of all people have no place to talk about being betrayed or lied to." She smartly asks, "What's that supposed to mean?" Fitz chimes in, 'It means you're a hypocrite!" She scoffs, "How?"
He takes a breath as he responds, ``For starters, you invited Nick here knowing I'd be here. And, you did it to try to hurt me. Because I refused to continue to dupe your parents into thinking we were a couple. What kind of friend is that? How is that not an act of betrayal to both me and him? Because I'm sure he had no clue why you were really bringing him here. I'd even bet you had to convince him to come."
Angry he hit the nail on the head regarding Nick, and her hypocrisy; but refusing to acknowledge he's right, she picks through his statement, and replies only to the part that she wants to address, as she dismissively responds, "Please, me bringing Nick here is nothing compared to you two screwing unbeknownst to me, especially with me being right down the damn hall, after just going on a date with you! How the hell can't both of you see how fuckd up that was? Then to top it all off, I find out by seeing a picture of you damn near fucking on the dance floor, in our backyard posted on the gram for everybody to see! That shit is embarassing as fuck!"
While he can see her point to a degree. He can't believe how one-sided she is, but still, he tries again to appeal to her better nature as he replies, "Mellie, you feel embarrassed because Liv and I hooked up, and didn't tell you until now, Okay fine. But we didn't hook up to piss you off or embarass you. On the other hand, you literally brought Nick here purposely to embarrass me. How are you missing that fact?"
Unwilling to hear him, she quickly responds, "How are you missing the fact that you hurt me by you two carrying on in secret? This is not right. I don't deserve this! You both are dead wrong for doing this to me. What kind of act of friendship is this?"
Before he can respond to her, Olivia feels her temper rising, and she lets it go as she chimes in. Ready to handle business she looks at him as she says, "I got this babe."
He sees a look in her eyes he's never seen before, and he's both intrigued and a little afraid, Nonetheless, he relents as he watches her in action as she continues,
" First of all, "let me say this. You are entitled to how you feel, I cannot and will not argue with how you feel. But during this conversation you're not going to dismiss our feelings and highlight your own, that's some bullshit I'm not going to tolerate." She considers interrupting her, but thinks better as she sees the glint in her eye. She listens as she hears, "Second, while I appreciate your feelings. What you're not about to do is play victim; because neither one of us feels sorry for you and your fake ass outrage. So, I'd advise you, to get, the fuck, over yourself! Because newsflash, this isn't about you Mellie! Nobody lied to you or betrayed you, despite what you want to believe. The truth is, your situation with Fitz was over before him and I were ever intimate. Could we have come out sooner? Yes. But we opted to keep our relationship private, until we decided what we were going to do. Ergo, believe it or not, at no point was what we are or were doing, ever going to be about anybody but us. So don't be mad at us because the party you forced on us, ended up being our coming out party. That is called karma, not betrayal."
Fitz is in awe, as her words hang in the air. All he can think is damn, that was epic, His thoughts are interrupted though as Mellie manages to say, "Get over myself? Really? Way to own up to what you've done here Liv. You betrayed my trust! There's no denying that no matter how you want to spin it."
Olivia angrily quips, "You mean like the way you've owned up telling Jake my personal business about my relationship with Eddie ending; even sharing the particulars of the break up including his infidelity with Jasmine. And invited Jake to the party, without my knowledge, knowing damn well I don't like him, and he's always creeped me out."
The look on her face reveals that she didn't realize she was aware of their conversation, and Olivia adds, "Yeah, I know about your little chat with him. So when you speak of betraying someone's trust. Perhaps you want to chew on that for a while first. Especially when it's likely the information you gave him is why he had a recording device strapped to his body when he came to the party, to try to get me to give him a scoop for a story he is writing to save his job at the Enquirer."
Her response surprises her as she asks, "Wait what? He was wearing a recording device?" Fitz responds, "Yes. And luckily Liv didn't say anything he could use. But, had you not invited him here, or told him about Liv and Eddie. He wouldn't have showed up." Realizing how bad the situation could've gotten, she replies, "I didn't know he was going to do that. I didn't even know he was a reporter."
Olivia shakes her head out of frustration as she responds, "It doesn't matter if you knew or not. What matters is that you have a terrible habit of setting shit into motion out of pure pettiness. And not caring about the fallout, until it's too late. One day, someone could get seriously hurt or worse, and your intentions once again won't matter."
"She hears her but still feels like her feelings are not being considered as she says, "I get angry when people cross me. And I can't help how I react sometimes. Just like in this situation, you're my roommate and my friend, but now fucking my ex. How am I supposed to feel about that? Particularly when it's obvious you used information I told you in confidence to get in bed with Fitz."
Before she can reply to her Fitz says, "Damn, You're really fucking delusional;" She responds, "No. I'm directly on point. When did she tell you about Nick and I exchanging numbers? Because I told her the night I came home, which is the same night of your first hook up, right?"
Thinking she dropped a bomb, given the smirk on her face post comment. Olivia bursts her bubble by replying, "I didn't tell him about Nick until last night. Including the number swap." The look on her face is priceless, She didn't expect that response, and she knows it's true.
Taking advantage of her pause he says, "So you see, Liv didn't lure me into bed that night. As she said, I didn't learn about you and Nick until yesterday. But you're choosing to dismiss both of us telling you our relationship has nothing to do with you, Because the truth doesn't fit your narrative of being victimized. So, okay, whatever. But what is really interesting to me is that all of a sudden, I'm your ex and you're so heartbroken about me being with Liv, who happens to be your roommate and a friend to both of us. But yet. You don't have any misgivings about exchanging numbers with Nick when we were on a date together. How does that make sense Mellie?"
He sees once again she's shaken by both his tone and his question, and he continues as he says, "Let me help you. It doesn't make sense. You only care about Liv and I being together because of how you think us being together makes you look. Which is absolutely insane. And the main reason why you need to see a fucking therapist, that level of narcssism isn't healthy."
Still looking to remain the victim in the situation, she walks off as she replies, "You're not going to make this about me. Fuck both of you for putting me in this situaiton. As far as I'm concerned neither one of you are friends of mine anymore. You can both go to hell!" They watch her walk off and don't have the energy or care enough to stop her, as they hear her door slam seconds later.
Olivia sighs as she says, "Well, that went about as well as we thought it would." He agreeably replies, "Yep. It did. Now what?" She shrugs her shoulders as she responds, "Now we finish eating and turn the game back on. I've said all I needed to say. But you can't communicate with someone who isn't willing to listen."
He agrees as he says, "Very true babe." He takes her hand though as he asks, "Are you good though, that was heavy." She nods as she responds, "yes. I'm fine. It is what it is. At least it's out in the open now." He nods as he says, "I know. I was thinking the same thing. But you know this isn't the end of her tantrum." She nods as she says, "I know. All I can say is let the games begin." He smiles at her and they share a kiss, which settles the moment, until Olivia's phone rings. And when she looks at the caller Id she is first surprised and then confused.
Thank you for reading my fan fiction tale. Whew chile. This was a hefty installment. Plenty of things happened and so much more to come. What did you think of Mellie's conversation with Olitz? Did it manage to meet the hype? How do you think Olitz handled her? I'm not sure anything they said would've mattered, she has her own perspective no matter what the truth is. Anyway, in the next installment we find out who is calling Olivia, what happens with Jake and how his arrest ties into the coming events. We also find out how Mellie and Nick's night ended last night; hint. It wasn't even close to how Olitz got down LOL. But then again, nobody compares to them.
I look forward to your reviews, they truly make my day. Thanks again for all of your support. Until next time, happy reading!
