It had been a long night.
Well, at least for Tanya anyway.
It felt like everybody around her was treating this situation as if it were absolutely normal. As if leaving her child behind, having to move back home with the people you ran away from, and then having them smack you around was completely okay.
Maya hadn't even directly apologized to her about it.
Her, Olivia, and their father just sat around the fireplace singing kumbaya, and completely ignoring her.
Tanya sighed heavily and sat up from what was now her new room. Her parents had taken everything from the old house and simply set it back up. It was supposed to give it a sense of familiarity, but instead it felt like she was stuck in a time capsule.
She had run away from home years ago, and none of this felt like it belonged to her anymore. She could barely even recognize it.
They only thing Tanya remembered was a picture frame that had Nicolas' first baby photo in it. It had been a gift from her parents, and she was surprised that they had kept it this whole time. She reached over to grab it from her nightstand, and then slowly ran her fingers down the glass in the frame.
The memories surrounding that time in her life were starting to slowly creep back in. She was young, her Maya and Eli were upset, and most of all, she was scared. Of course she put on a brave face and pretended like she wasn't. To the outside world, she was happy about the baby. She was proving to everybody that she was a grown up, and shouldn't be treated like a child anymore.
But, that was the furthest thing from the truth. Even when Olivia tried to help her, she pushed her sister away. Tanya didn't want anybody to see that side of her. Not even her family.
When Nicki was born, things got even worse. She knew that raising a baby would be tough, but she could have never anticipated the sacrifices she was expected to make. The birthing classes and television shows made things look so easy. The harsh reality of it, though, was that she barely felt a bond with him for the first couple of months. Luckily, during that time, her parents were so busy fawning over their grandchild they barely noticed the disconnect that she was having.
What infuriated her even more-so, though, was the fact that nobody trusted her. Once she was finally ready to step up and try to be a mother, she was sabotaged at every turn. Everybody around her felt like since they were older, they could make better decisions for Nicki than she could. Her mother chose what daycare he went to, her father would buy his clothes, and Olivia would call back and nag on everything she had an opinion on.
And while Tanya knew that everyone was just trying to help, she felt smothered.
The only decision that she ever got make while living in her parents house was the decision to run away. They left in the middle of the night while Nicki was asleep, and she got in the car with her then boyfriend and rode off into the moonlight. For a while they stayed with him, but he kicked them both out once the relationship went sour. She was a teenager and living on the streets with a baby who was barely out of diapers.
Initially, she thought she would be able to handle it. Tanya enrolled Nicki into a low income daycare, and he would stay there during the day. She would panhandle, work odd jobs, or get in line at a soup kitchen to feed herself. In the evenings she would pick Nicolas up, and they would couch surf with some of the friends she had in the area.
Her breaking point, though, was only after a couple of weeks. She had picked Nicki up from the daycare, and he had developed a terrible diaper rash. Tanya couldn't afford the cream to help soothe his irritable skin, and he screamed all night long. Eventually, even her friend kicked her out that night.
It was freezing cold outside, and she knew they wouldn't make it unless they found somewhere to go. Only then, was she able to swallow her pride long enough to call her sister.
Even though it was 2am, Olivia answered on the first ring. She and her parents had been looking for them for weeks, and this was the first breakthrough that they had gotten.
Just like when they were younger, Olivia was there to fix what Tanya had broken. She immediately got into her car and drove through the snow until she found the park that they were in.
Tanya was sitting on a bench with tears in her eyes and a suitcase beside her with all of their belongings. She had Nicolas tucked away inside of her coat, bundled in his baby blanket and the warmest clothes that she could find for him.
She was relieved to see her sister running in her direction, but the pit of disappointment also bundled in her stomach. Here she was again, not prepared and messing things up.
Before she could get too lost in her own thoughts, she heard someone walking outside of her bedroom door. Her heart immediately skipped a beat, but she concluded it was just her dad walking around the house. He had always been an early riser, so she figured nothing had changed. Just in case, though, she laid back down and put the covers back over her head. She still hadn't even gotten thirty minutes of sleep, and her body was starting to ache.
Before she could even shut her eyes, though, there was a knock at the door. Tanya glanced over at the clock and saw that it read 4:30am. Her eyes immediately squinted because she didn't understand what anybody would want with her so early in the morning.
'Tanya.' Eli said softly from outside the door, accompanied by another knock. 'Are you awake in there?'
Tanya continued to ignore her father. This was exactly the type of behavior that made her run away in the first place years ago. Smothering.
'I'm going to come in, baby.' He announced. 'I need to talk to you.'
When he still didn't get an answer, Eli hesitated. He didn't want to just burst in just in case she wasn't dressed.
'What's taking so long?' Maya impatiently asked.
That made Tanya roll her eyes. She probably could have gotten away with fake sleeping her dad, but her mother was a different animal entirely. Olivia used to say that the reason that the two of them could never get along was because they were so much alike.
Tanya didn't see it though.
Much to her surprise, the next voice she heard was Olivia's.
'Your sister is still sleeping.' Eli said, his tone sympathetic. 'We should leave her be.'
'No.' Maya shook her head. 'We need to set expectations, and we need to set them early. Our house, our rules.'
Eli looked to Olivia for some support, but she simply shrugged her shoulders. She knew that the reason that they were in this mess was because they all had been too soft on Tanya in the first place. They gave her too many bail outs, and now it was time to fix their mistakes. They owed that to her. While she didn't want to, she knew it was the best thing.
'Open the door, daddy.' Olivia responded, gesturing towards the knob.
Maya watched as her husbands bottom lip poked out into a pout. He had always had a soft spot for his girls, but she couldn't fault him for that. When Eli hesitated, she reached over to turn on the handle herself.
The bright light from the hallway immediately caused Tanya to sit up. She shielded her face from the seemingly obnoxious glare using her arm, and lightly hissed.
'What is going on?' She asked, obviously not appreciating the wakeup call.
Olivia took a step in. 'This is how we start our mornings.'
Tanya groaned. 'It's not even 5am.'
'I know.' Eli retorted. 'We're running behind. We wanted to give you some time to sleep in.'
'Sleep in?' Tanya scoffed. 'What are you all even talking about?'
'Every morning we get up to run a mile and a half through the neighborhood.' Maya stated, much less sympathetically than her husband. She tossed a pair of running shoes into the room that landed right beside the bed. 'I hope you're still a size 7.'
'You can't be serious.' Tanya grumbled, flopping back onto her mattress. 'I can't do this today. It's too early, and I'm tired.'
'There's no better time than the present, sweetheart.' Eli optimistically stated. 'It's time to get you on a schedule for success.'
Tanya immediately looked to Olivia for help, but was stunned to see that she was already dressed in a running outfit. So much for sister solidarity.
'Olivia, you do this every time you visit?' She asked, looking for any means of escape at this point.
'I do.' Olivia nodded to confirm. 'And Nicki does it when he visits with me.'
'And with much less conversation, too.' Maya bit, making Eli shoot her a pleading look to stop.
No more than 20 minutes later, the Popes were leaving out of the front door and into the elements. It was still freezing cold, so Maya loaned Tanya one of her jackets to wear. She was somewhat surprised to see her daddy was still in such good shape. He was stretching and jogging in place as if his growing age didn't affect him at all.
Maya stretched her arms, and then checked her smartwatch on her wrist. 'We'll only go a mile today since it's your first day running with us. We keep it to a pace a little faster than a jog, and then we end with some yoga stretches in the front yard.'
Tanya nodded her head, confirming that she understood. As soon as Maya turned her back to them, though, she leaned in to whisper to Olivia. 'How long is a mile?'
She chuckled lightly. 'We'll go around the block 4 times.'
'Oh.' She lightly smiled. 'That doesn't sound too bad. I can do that.'
Olivia looked her up and down, and had to keep herself from laughing. She hadn't seen Tanya exercise a day in her life, so her new found confidence was a bit amusing. 'I sure hope so for your sake.'
Breaking them out of their conversation was a loud blow of a whistle. Tanya immediately clenched the sides of her head, her face scrunching up as her eardrums rang out.
'Enough chitchat, ladies.' Eli said as he also synced up his smartwatch. 'When I blow my whistle again we go.'
Before Tanya could even catch her breath, there was another blow of the whistle even louder than before. She watched on as everyone sprinted in front of her, falling into somewhat of a natural order. Eli first, then Olivia, then Maya right at her heels. Once again, she was feeling out of place amongst her own family.
After their morning of torture was over, Tanya immediately showered and got right back in her bed. It was still fairly early in the morning, so she figured she had some time to at least nap before she got her day started. Nobody seemed to object when she shut the door behind her, and she was grateful for some much needed rest.
What was supposed to just be an hour siesta turned into an eight hour slumber. While she was shocked when she looked over to see the clock read 2pm, Tanya knew that her body needed the rest. Her legs were already starting to feel pretty sore from their run earlier that day, and she'd be surprised if they worked at all.
The only thing that motivated her to get out of the bed was the smell of food coming from the kitchen. Her incessant stomach rumbling reminded her that she hadn't had anything to eat since they left DC. After her altercation with Maya the night before, she found it hard to make herself eat. Even if it was her favorite food.
Tanya groaned and she stood up from the bed. As soon as her feet hit the floor, she thought that her knees would give out. Actually, every part of her body hurt.
She managed to get out of the door and stumble to the living room, but was a bit surprised when she didn't hear any talking or chatter. Tanya held on to the wall for stability and made her way to the kitchen. She found herself extremely disappointed when the only person there was Maya stirring something in a bowl.
They hadn't been in a room alone together in years and after last night, Tanya wanted to keep it that way. She tried to slowly back herself out of the doorway and get back to her room, but she had already been caught.
'Good afternoon, Sleeping Beauty' she called out over her shoulder. 'Were you just going to come in and not speak?'
Tanya sighed to herself. Maya always had a way of catching her in the act.
'No, ma'am.' She shook her head. 'I was just going to see where Liv and daddy went.'
'Your daddy and Olivia went to the store to pick up some things for dinner.' Maya noted as she opened the pot in front of her to take a small taste. Her face immediately turned sour before she reached up into her spices cabinet. 'It's just the two of us here.'
'Oh.' Tanya said softly.
'Is that a bad thing?' She asked, chuckling a bit as she read something on the back of one of her seasoning bottles.
'No, ma'am.' she answered, still a bit wary of the situation. Tanya tried her best to think of a reason to wiggle her way out of the room, but nothing was coming to mind at the moment.
'You don't have to lie to me, Tanya. I can hear the truth in your voice.' For the first time, Maya glanced at her daughter over her shoulder. She had a bit of a smile on her face, but it still didn't sit right with Tanya.
'Why don't you come and have a seat?' She suggested, gesturing over to the barstools. 'You can help me taste this gumbo.'
'It's probably poisoned.' Tanya grumbled under her breath, stumbling over to the stool.
Maya chuckled under her breath. It was obvious that her daughter didn't remember how good her hearing was. But, she couldn't blame Tanya for being a bit cautious of her. It would take time for them to grow their relationship again, and even she would admit that her actions the day before didn't help the situation at all.
But it sure felt good at that moment.
She closed the pot to her dish and then walked over to the freezer. Maya pulled out two ice packs that she had prepared earlier, knowing that Tanya would probably feel a bit sore after their run. She tossed them on the counter top in front of her.
'For your knees.' She remarked before returning to her cooking. 'You're going to be sore for a while, but your body will get used to it.'
'Thanks.' she murmured, grabbing them and placing them on her legs. Tanya hated to admit that her mother was right, but her joints were definitely singing praises at the moment. 'Since when do you all start running in the mornings?'
Maya's lips pursed a bit, but she had decided to not stray away from the topic. She continued to chop up her vegetables, never looking up to meet Tanya's eyes. 'After you left with Nicki, your father had a heart attack.'
Tanya's eyes immediately widened. Olivia had never told her that, so she had no idea. At the time, she didn't think her parents would care if she ran away. The way she saw it, it was just two less mouths to feed in the house, and she was ready to be out on her own.
'I- I'm sorry. I didn't know.' She said quietly.
'You don't know things when you leave, Tanya.' Maya replied, but she didn't sound mean or spiteful.
There were going to be a lot of hard conversations in the next few weeks, and this was just one of them. 'Did you think we were happy when you left? That we didn't care that our teenage daughter and her infant son just vanished in the middle of the night?'
She sighed, this time turning her head away from Maya. The guilt was beginning to eat her alive, but she didn't want her mother to know that. 'I said I was sorry. What do you want me to do?'
'You don't have to apologize, Tanya.' Her mother replied, still keeping her eyes set on her food. 'But, you need a dose of reality. You ran away from all of your problems, and now they're coming back to bite you.'
Maya took the large, metal ladle she was using to stir her pot, and dipped it into her gumbo. It was a secret family recipe that had been passed down for years, perfected and changed just a bit as it touched each new generation. She scooped out just enough to fit into a small ramekin bowl that she had sitting close. She swirled its content around a bit, before walking over to the table where Tanya was sitting.
'Try it.' Maya instructed, holding it up to her mouth.
Tanya's eyebrows quirked a bit, and she hesitated.
'It's safe.' Maya chortled. 'Scouts honor.'
She sighed, but nodded her head. Her head bobbed forward a bit, and Maya tilted the bowl so that it would reach her lips. Tanya took one large gulp, her whole body tingling as the warmth spread through her nerves.
'Need anything?' Maya asked.
'No.' she shook her head. 'It tastes just like how you used to make it.'
She smiled. 'Good to hear.' Maya returned back to her spot over the stove, dropping the ramkin off in the sink on her way back.
'Why are you being so nice to me all of a sudden?' Tanya grumbled.
'Because I'm your mother.' she stated, as if the answer was so obvious. 'And, I love you.'
'You sure as hell have a funny way of showing it.' she retorted, using one of her hands to touch the spot on her cheek that Maya had slapped the night before.
'Language.' she scolded.
'Sorry.' Tanya muttered under her breath.
'And you're right, I shouldn't have smacked you last night. I'm sorry about that.' Maya finally turned to face her daughter, crossing her arms against her chest. 'But, you deserved it.'
Tanya cut her eyes at her mother. 'Why can't you just be like a normal mom? Why does everything have to be a fight?'
'I'm not fighting with you.' she shrugged. 'Just having a discussion - and I'm telling the truth. You deserved it.'
'I didn't!' she argued. 'I'm trying to change, and everyone sees it but you!'
'Lower your tone, Tanya.' she retorted calmly. 'And you don't get to avoid the consequences of your past just because you feel like you're changing now. You put me, your father, and your sister through the most heartbreaking few years of our lives. And even worse, you weren't even your best self for your son.'
'I didn't even get a chance to be my best self for him!' Tanya bit back at her mother. 'From the time he was born you all took over and practically stole him from me-'
'Nobody stole him from you.' Maya slammed her wooden spoon down on the table, clearly tired of hearing whatever Tanya was spewing. 'We stepped in to pick up the pieces that you dropped, and how do you repay us? By speeding off in the middle of the night with some man we had never met, and that you've never seen again!'
Before their conversation could continue, the pairs attention was brought to the garage door opening. she gave her youngest daughter one more menacing look, cutting her eyes at her. 'You're nobody's victim, Tanya.'
Maya walked over to the door, opening it wide and meeting her husband with a smile. 'Welcome home.'
'Thank you, honey.' he smiled and kissed her cheek, squeezing past her with all of their shopping bags.
'Did you get everything on the list?' she asked, shivering a bit as the cool air rushed in the house. 'Your lips are freezing.'
'Everything and more.' his eyes rolled. 'I knew it was a bad idea to take Olivia with me.'
Olivia walked in after her father, carrying nothing but a cup holder filled with Starbucks drinks. 'Hey! You should be happy I wanted to go.'
'An extra 150 on my shopping trip and expensive coffee?' he scoffed. 'What would I have done without you?'
'Not have a very delicious pumpkin spice latte.' she teased, walking their drinks over to the table and setting them in front of Tanya.
It was only then that she started to realize the tension in the air. She could only imagine the numerous things that Maya and Tanya had been talking about, but she really didn't want to know. It was going to take a while for them to start to warm up to each other again.
Olivia took her drink out of the carrier, then tried to give a warm smile to Tanya. 'Help yourself to a drink, Tanya.'
'Oh, um, I don't drink coffee.' she shook her head, looking away from them. Tanya was hating how happy they all were. How could everyone be smiling while her life was turning upside down?
'Look what I got you, baby.' Eli grinned, pulling a box out of the Target bag. 'Eggo waffles! You used to love these!'
Her nose crinkled. She hadn't had an instant waffle since she had left, but she wasn't going to be difficult. 'Thank you, dad.'
'I'm glad you still like them!' he said excitedly. 'I bought 6 boxes!'
Tanya groaned to herself. Her stomach was already turning at the thought.
Once the food was ready, the newly reunited family all sat down for a meal. The rectangular dining surface allowed for everyone to have their own section at the table, and Tanya was grateful for that. Maya and Eli both sat on both ends, and she and Olivia sat directly across from each other. As intimate as the setting seemed, Tanya had never felt so far away from anyone in her entire life.
Olivia joined them a bit later, coming to the dining room with a smile on her face. She sat in her chair and nodded apologetically towards her parents.
'Sorry I kept you all waiting.' she said, taking her seat and putting her napkin in her lap.
'Hmmmm.' Eli grinned deviously. 'Must've been talking to that boyfriend of yours. What's his name?'
Olivia nearly blushed, but shook her head. 'You know his name, daddy.'
'Oh, you're right.' Eli brought his voice up a few octaves in an attempt to mimic her tone. 'Tommmmyyyyy.'
She chuckled. 'I do not call him Tommy.'
'Eli.' Maya scolded. 'Leave her alone, and say the prayer so that we can eat.'
'Fine.' he sighed.
Maya, Eli, and Olivia all reached around the table and grabbed each other's hands. It took a bit of stretching, but they completed their half circle with little issue. When Tanya hesitated, both her parents grabbed her hands for her.
'Father, thank You for this food that we are now about to receive. Bless my beautiful wife who made it, and thank you for bringing my two daughters to us safely. Amen.'
'Amen.' they all said in unison.
'Now,' Maya interjected. 'when will we be meeting Mr. Tommy?'
'You all haven't met him yet?' Tanya scoffed softly.
Olivia shot her a look. 'Soon, I promise. Things are just really crazy right now.'
'You've met him?' Eli asked, turning his attention to Tanya. He was trying his best to engage his youngest daughter as best as possible. 'What is he like?'
Tanya's nose crinkled. She had never been fond of Fitz, so she didn't know how much of an opinion they wanted from her. But she also knew better than to cross Olivia. Now wasn't the time to further push the bad blood between her and her sister.
'He's.. tall.' she shrugged.
'He is.' Olivia nodded in agreement, still regarding her sister closely. She was silently daring Tanya to make an out of line comment.
'Are we hearing wedding bells?' Maya asked, her eyebrows raising a bit.
'Of course not.' Tanya's nose crinkled, appalled that anyone would ever imply such. 'Olivia wouldn't marry some showboat athlete. They're all just manwhores looking for another lay around the city.'
Her face immediately scowled to match her sisters. Fitz had already proven to her that that wasn't true, but it did remind Olivia of her initial fears of daring an athlete. Tommy certainly did have a reputation for himself before he finally settled down. 'Tanya, I think that question was geared towards me.'
'You obviously trust him a lot if you left him with Nicolas for the weekend.' Maya commented lowly, taking note of the new found tension between her daughters.
Olivia hadn't been very forthcoming on the situation with Tanya. She simply called and said that she was ready to come home, but Maya knew better. She knew her daughters better than anyone else in the world. Tanya would never come home on her own accord. Something had happened, and nobody wanted to tell her the whole truth.
The comment made Tanya huff. She couldn't stand Fitz as is, so her son being in his sole care bothered her greatly. She wasn't sure why he couldn't just come with them for the weekend.
Eli cleared his throat a bit. He could see this conversation was about to get a bit catty if he didn't step in. 'I think-'
'Honey,' Maya cut in, glancing lowly over at her husband from across the table. 'I've asked Olivia two questions, and she keeps getting interrupted. I would like to hear her answers, before I hear your thoughts.'
'Of course, dear.' he nodded his head and turned his attention to Olivia.
Tanya's eyes rolled. She hated how her father bowed at Maya's feet and kissed the ground that she walked on. In her opinion her father was weak. He was kind, but weak.
Olivia couldn't help but snicker a bit. She actually found her parents' relationship quite hilarious. As tough as Maya seemed on the outside, she was basically a kitten on the inside when it came to her father. They really kept each other perfectly in check.
'I do trust Fitz, and Nicolas adores him. It's actually very annoying.' she smirked, remembering all the drawings of Fitz Nicki had done at school. 'I'm starting to think he likes him more than he likes me.'
'That's good to hear.' Maya commented. 'Great, actually.'
'Nicolas needs a strong father figure in his life.' Eli added.
Tanya's open palms clenched into fists, causing her knuckles to turn white. It wasn't meant to be, but Eli's comment felt like a dig at her. As if she hasn't been enough for Nicki by herself.
'And the wedding?' Maya grinned.
Olivia sighed, but smiled. 'No ring yet, but we've had a few conversations about it. I'd be happy with, or without the marriage.'
Eli's nose crinkled. 'Unacceptable. He's going to marry you if he plans on sticking around.'
'He's just going to try to string you along.' Tanya grumbled.
Olivia picked up on the comment, and cut her eyes at her little sister. 'Fitz has already proposed. I said no.' she said in a matter of fact tone.
Eli, and Maya were surprised, but Tanya was absolutely shocked. Sure Olivia didn't tell her everything about her personal life, but this was pretty big.
'Why?' her mother asked curiously.
She sucked her teeth. The only reason Fitz initially offered marriage was because they wanted to file for custody of Nicki. The lawyer had suggested they'd have a better case if he would be going to a two parent home. Olivia had no intentions on revealing that to anyone at the table, though.
'I had my reasons.' she responded vaguely. 'Marriage isn't out of the question, but we weren't ready. If he were to ask again, I'd reconsider my answer. Our situation is much.. different now. It's better.'
Maya's eyebrows quirked a bit. As far as she was concerned the only difference between now and then was that Olivia didn't have custody over Nicki. She knew her grandson had something to do with it, but she couldn't exactly pinpoint the exact reason.
'And it would be?' Eli asked, trying to pry the answer from her.
She chuckled. 'It would be yes, daddy. A resounding yes.'
'Hot damn!' Eli grinned, loudly clasping his hands together. 'Box seat tickets to the game!'
'Daddy!' Olivia huffed, swatting at him. 'Fitz isn't your personal ticket scalper.'
'He will be if he plans on being my son in law.' he crossed his arms against his chest. 'If not, I will refuse to give him your hand at the wedding.'
As Olivia and Eli continued to bicker amongst each other over hypothetical baseball tickets, they managed to tune out the rest of the table. Tanya began to push her food around on her plate, hoping to become completely invisible. She wouldn't get that wish, though. Maya had been paying close attention to her baby girl as she slumped down into her chair. It was obvious that it would be one person in the family not so excited about these potential upcoming nuptials.
She wasn't exactly sure what else she could do for Tanya. She needed to heal from whatever was hurting her so much, but it would be up to her to figure that part out. The only thing Maya could do at this point was to support her from the sidelines.
Tanya's nose crinkled a bit, and she sunk her neck low in the lining of her winter coat. Eli, Maya, and Olivia had taken her to her new college for a tour, and it was freezing cold outside. They still had a few weeks before the beginning of the semester, but she really wasn't sure if she was going to thrive in an environment like this.
It had been a long time since she had somebody telling her what to do, and when to do it.
Maya and Olivia were quiet, mostly talking amongst themselves. Tanya knew that she hadn't gotten any real scholarship money, just enough to take care of some books, so she wondered how much her family was contributing to the cost of her education. She knew this would be just another reason for them to be on her back for the next two years. If her sister and mother were footing the bill, they would be expecting results.
'Look what I got!' Eli called out, running up behind them. He had disappeared almost an hour before, and had stopped answering his phone. Anyone else would've been worried, but Maya knew her husband. He liked to wander and explore.
It also helped that she had his location tracked back to her phone. She knew exactly what he was doing.
Olivia rolled her eyes after getting one good look at her father. He had found the campus bookstore, and it looked like he had cleaned them out for everything they had.
He was wearing a blue and white Luke Community College tshirt, a letterman jacket, a foam hand, and a hat that read 'Proud Dad of a LCC Student'. Olivia wasn't even sure what he had done with the clothes that he wore that morning.
'You look amazing.' Maya complimented, although she felt like it was a bit much. She understood what he was doing, though. He wanted to show Tanya that he supported her.
'They gave me a wagon to carry the rest of my stuff.' he said, gesturing back to the buggy he was pulling alongside him. 'I got us all tshirts, hats, blankets, socks, cups, mugs, lanyards-'
'Daddy, how much did you spend?' Olivia questioned.
'It was a sale!' he said, strategically avoiding to answer to his daughter's prying eyes.
Maya sighed, but smiled and shook her head. She'd take a look at the credit card bill later, the most important part was that it seemed as if Tanya was smiling for the first time since she had seen her.
The beautiful part of playing a major league sport in a large city was that there was always a game going on. All the players from all the teams from all the teams knew each other, which made it easier to navigate through the sports seasons. Now that he was an active part of Nicki's life, Fitz wanted to give him every opportunity he could.
When Nicolas showed an interest towards hockey, he wasted no time calling his friends over at the DC Capitals. They had been going to games, and Fitz even had convinced some of the players to stay afterwards for some private skating lessons. He had ordered every piece of equipment that he could, and made sure it was the best of the best.
Only the best for his boy.
Olivia hadn't been thrilled when Fitz encouraged him to try the sport, but she let him lead when it came down to this. She wasn't very big on athletics, but she knew she would have to trust Fitz's best judgement in some situations. They'd be raising Nicolas together now, so they needed to work as a team.
During the home games there was a small session during halftime where the little league team played. It was just a small, fun scrimmage to get the kids involved, and the adults thought it was adorable.
'You look great, champ.' he grinned, getting down on his knees so that he could be eye level with Nicki. He wanted to take as many pictures as possible.
'I'm ready to whoop some butt!!' Nicki growled lowly, banging his hockey stick against the floor.
'Atta boy!!' Fitz grinned. 'Now take a picture with just a smile so I can send it to your Aunt.'
'Cheese!!' he grinned widely, showing off his new loose tooth in the very front.
'Alright, let's get ready to go.' Fitz stood up and grabbed the helmet he bought for Nicki. He helped him get it on his head, and held his hand as he waddled in his ice skates to meet his team.
Nicki hadn't been playing as long as the other kids, his real passion was baseball, but he seemed to get along well with them. Well, at least most of them.
Mikey was another little boy on the team, and he was a bit bigger than Nicki. He had curly red hair, tan colored skin, and was a bit husky for his age.
Fitz wasn't exactly sure what the problem was, but he chopped it up to just boys being boys. Sure the kid was a little mean, but that was a part of growing up. Nicolas was going to have to learn how to stick up for himself.
Tonight they would be playing against each other on opposing teams. It would also be the first time that Nicolas would play in front of a crowd, but he wasn't nervous. He had seen Fitz do the same in packed out arenas, so he knew he could do this.
'I'm going to be in the locker room waiting for you, Nicolas.' Fitz said, patting his head once more. All of their parents would congregate there where they could watch the same from a screen.
'Okay.' he nodded. 'I'm going to score tonight, you just watch me!'
'You better.' he grinned.
Once Fitz walked away, Nicolas felt something hit him on the back of his helmet. He huffed and turned around, grumbling a bit when he noticed it was Mikey.
'You're not scoring tonight, because I'm playing goalie.' he commented, smugly.
'I don't care if your mama is playing goalie.' he bit back. Fitz had taught him some trash talk comments, but he had no clue Nicki was actually using any of it. 'I'm still scoring.'
'You're going to regret ever saying that to me.' he huffed.
The coach had been hyper aware of the growing rivalry between Mikey and Nicolas, and he immediately walked over to break them up. He never imagined signing up to coach 5-7 year olds would raise his blood pressure up so high. It didn't help that Fitz was basically DC royalty. He needed to keep Nicki happy at any cost.
'That's enough, boys.' he shook his head, pushing them apart and causing them both to stumble. Neither of them were all that great on their skates. 'Mikey, go line up with your team. You shouldn't be in their line, anyway.'
Mikey grumbled a bit. He had been on the team for a while, much longer than Nicki, and he hated the special treatment that he got. He didn't care that Tommy was his uncle; in his opinion Nicolas didn't deserve to be fawned all over the way that he was. He got special one-on-one training with the Capitals team, he had the best equipment, and he got to hangout with the players as long as his uncle was around. It just wasn't fair.
When they heard the buzzer sound they knew it was time for them to skate out. Nicolas shot Mikey a dirty look, although it would have been much more effective if his face wasn't covered by mask on his helmet, and he followed the rest of his teammates out.
Although they had very general practices, the games were really just for fun. The coach was there to simply facilitate the scrimmage, and he gave very few instructions. Some of the kids were still learning how to skate, so he assisted getting them to their spots before the referee put the puck down.
Nicki was team captain tonight, so he was front and center for the start of the round. Some of the other kids were too busy looking in the crowd to pay attention, but not him. He had one goal in mind. He was going to score a goal on Mikey if it was the last thing he did tonight.
The kid games went a bit slower than the actual matches. They weren't as fast on their skates, and they fell very easily. It wasn't rare that they would go the whole round and neither team would make a goal at all.
With only a minute left on the clock, though, Nicolas' determination grew. Mikey had managed to block every other shot he had attempted, so he knew he only had one more chance. As soon as he managed to get the puck, he charged right past the other kids on the ice.
Mikey hit his mitts together, cutting his eyes a bit as Nicki rushed towards him. He thought he was prepared for anything that would have shot, but when Nicolas got the puck in over his head he knew he had missed.
The buzzer went off loudly, and the thousands of people in the stands all erupted with cheering. Nicki grinned victoriously, raising his hockey stick in the air as he skated around. He knew the match was almost over, so there was no need to get into position for a new play. His teammates for the night all raced over to him, hugging and bumping into him.
Mikey threw his helmet down in frustration, struggling to keep himself from crying. His disdain for Nicki was growing even more as he watched how people reacted to his victory.
It was likely the combination of adrenaline and rage that sent Mikey skating towards Nicolas. Nobody else was paying much attention to him, assuming that he was headed back to the locker rooms since there were only another few seconds left on the clock.
Instead, though, as soon as the other kids left Nicolas' side, Mikey took his opportunity. He pushed Nicki down onto the ice, and he fell flat on his face. The referee immediately blew his whistle and started rushing over to where they were, but the damage had been done.
Nicolas immediately stood up, not even noticing his now bloody mouth. Mikey was bigger than him, so he knew it would be harder to knock him over. Instead, he immediately went to punch him in the face. It was something he has watched all of the Capitals players do during the games, so it felt pretty natural.
Before they could continue, the coach and referee pulled the boys apart. The crowd roared with laughter and applause at the show before them, some making note to keep up with their careers in the future.
The other kids went off with their guardians, while Fitz and Mikey's parents and twin sister waited in the locker room. They were both too afraid to even look Tommy in his eyes at this point.
Out of all the fucking kids to push, it had to be Tommy's kid. his father thought to himself.
Since Mikey was the aggressor, the coach held his hand and dragged him along. He sat him on the bench next to his sister.
'Mr. Tommy-' the coach started, fumbling over his words. 'I am so sorry that this happened. We-'
Fitz held his hand up, prompting him to stop talking. He pulled Nicki's helmet off his head to inspect the damages. He winced a bit when he got a good look at his busted lip. 'Does it hurt, kiddo?'
Mikey scoffed. 'I barely touched him.'
'Michael!' his mom shot him an evil glare, daring him to say another word.
'Ya.' he nodded his head and reached up to touch his face. 'Is it bleeding?'
'Yep.' he nodded in return. 'You may need stitches.'
The coach's breath got caught in the back of his throat as he started to smell a lawsuit coming on. 'I don't think-'
'Hey,' Fitz glared over to him. 'don't you see I'm talking to my kid?'
'M- My apologies Mr. Tommy.' he took a step back away from them, suddenly feeling a bit safer on the side of the room with Mikey and his family.
Fitz sighed and shook his head. Getting hurt was all a part of playing a sport, so he wasn't very upset about the busted lip. He couldn't only imagine, though, the reaction that Olivia would have to this whole fiasco. He could only pray that she had been too busy with her family to watch the game live on tv.
'Well, he punched Mikey in the face.' Michael's dad commented. 'They boys should be even, now.'
Nicolas huffed. 'Mikey started it!'
'You said something about my mom!' Mikey complained.
This nearly made Fitz snicker, but he held it in. If Olivia was going to trust him more with Nicki, he would need to be a responsible adult when it came down to these tender situations.
He also didn't want Nicki to go back and tell her that he was the one that taught him the joke.
The coach groaned, his mind immediately wandering to thoughts of sending in his letter of resignation. 'Michael started the physical portion of the altercation, which means that he is at fault. He can't go around assaulting people because they scored.'
'So then, what are you suggesting?' Mikey's mom asked, her hands fidgeting a bit.
'I don't think that Michael should play on the team anymore.' the coach suggested.
As the adults began to go back and forth and bicker, Nicolas kicked his skates off his feet. Fitz had promised him pizza after the game, and he was ready to reap his reward. He shivered a bit as the cold air of the stadium nearly froze his little toes in his socks.
Once he looked up, he realized that there were a pair of eyes staring directly at him. He swallowed hard as he realized that Mikey's twin sister had been eyeing him the entire time. She was a bit smaller than Mikey, closer to Nicolas' height, and she had red curly hair with brown eyes.
She waved over at Nicolas, and his breath got caught in his throat. He looked around the room to see if it could be anyone else she was greeting, but there was nobody. He pointed to himself, and she nodded her head in return.
He picked his hand up off the bench slowly, and waved back at her. Mikey hadn't been paying much attention, but this interaction did catch his line of sight.
'Leave my sister alone.' he grumbled lowly from across the room.
Nicolas' jaw dropped, appalled that he would even imply that he wanted anything to do with his stinky sister. 'She was the one looking at me!'
Fitz, who had heard enough by this point, stood to his feet. 'Nicki, pack up. We're leaving. I want to go get your lip looked at by the trainer.'
'Okay, Uncle Fitz.' he nodded obediently and went over to where his small cubbyhole was located.
'Don't kick the kid off the team.' Fitz resolved. 'Little boys are rough, and Nicolas is fine. He just needs better home training.' he glanced towards Mikey.
Mikey's father cut his eyes at Fitz, but he decided to let the situation go. He knew it could've ended up a whole lot worse if Tommy had decided to pursue any other form of punishment.
Fitz walked over to where Mikey was sitting, and ruffled his hair up a bit. 'You played well out there tonight. You can't win every game, that's just a part of life.'
Mikey huffed and crossed his arms, looking away from Fitz. A part of him loved that Tommy was giving him this sort of attention, but the other part hated it. This was the exact reason why he was so jealous of Nicki.
It hadn't taken Nicolas long to get out of his uniform, mostly because he had been wearing his real clothes underneath, and he walked over to them while lugging his gym bag behind him. He had on a simple Capitals jersey, with a pair of dark washed jeans, and Fitz had already grabbed his coat from the players rack.
'All ready!' he smiled.
Fitz smirked and grabbed the bag from Nicolas, it was nearly twice his size, and threw it over his shoulder. Nicki took hold of his freehand, completely ignoring the dirty look Mikey was giving him.
'Bye, Nicki!' Mikey's sister called out, waving at him.
Her brother's nose crinkled. 'Kayla!' he scolded.
Nicolas saw this as a perfect opportunity to mess with Mikey, and he shot her a sweet smile. 'See you around, Kayla.'
Mikey growled lowly. 'I'm going to get you, Pope!!'
Nicolas stuck his tongue out at him, chuckling as he followed his uncle out. 'I'd like to see you try it, Weiner!'
'My last name is Winder!' he shot back, although Nicki and Fitz never stopped moving.
He waited until the door to the locker room shut, and they were out of earshot and chuckled. 'Weiner?'
Nicki grinned widely. 'Ya, I call him Mikey Weiner.'
'That's hilarious.' he simpered, but then immediately bit his lip to keep himself from laughing. 'You can't be mean to the other kids.'
'He was mean to me first.' he grumbled lowly. 'Mikey-'
'Is immature.' Fitz cut in.
'What does that mean?'
'Oh-' he muttered. 'it just means he acts like a little kid.'
'But I'm a little kid, too.' Nicki quipped.
'Right.' Fitz sighed. 'But, you're.. different from Mikey. He still has a lot of growing up to do.'
'But, so do I.' he looked at him quizzically, eyebrows furrowing.
He smiled softly and ruffled his hair a bit. 'You sure do, Nicki.'
Before they could walk off, Fitz felt someone grab his shoulder. He immediately turned around, only to be met with a young man wearing a Press tag around his neck. He was tall and skinny with a face full of acne, but he wore a kind smile. His shaking hands though told Fitz that he was a bit nervous to approach him, though.
'E-Excuse me, Tommy.' his voice cracked. 'Nicolas was chosen as Little League Player of the Night. He has to do an interview.'
He regarded him closely. 'He doesn't have to do anything. He's injured.'
The nervous intern swallowed hard. 'Of course! It's just standard, sir.'
Fitz glanced down at Nicki. 'What do you think, big shot? Up for a post game interview?'
Nicolas grinned widely. 'Like the ones you do?'
'Just like them.' the intern nodded, interjecting himself into the conversation.
'I can do it.' he nodded excitedly. 'What are they going to ask me?'
'Not sure.' Fitz shrugged. 'But you're going to do great no matter what.'
The trio walked over to the press box, where there was already a little area set up for Nicki. They'd be showing his interview on the Jumbotron during the next break, so there were cameras pointing exactly to where he needed to stand. The announcer was a young woman, who also seemed to also be a bit starstruck when Fitz walked into the room. She had met a lot of famous athletes, but Tommy was the hottest thing in town at the moment - regardless of the sport.
'Oh,' she smiled, excited. 'will you be joining your son in his interview?'
Nicki nervously looked down. It wasn't often that someone referred to him as Fitz's son, they didn't look anything alike, and he was a bit nervous about what he would say in return. He knew he wasn't actually his kid, but he at least liked to think of him as his dad. He was the closest thing he had to one.
Fitz brushed by her comment, simply shaking his head. 'Of course not. This is Nicki's moment. I've got nothing to do with it.'
'I just think the fans would love to see the both of you on camera.' she remarked.
He chuckled. 'If the fans always got what they wanted I'd be the centerfold of a magazine.'
She bit her lip at the thought, and then immediately tried to brush it out of her brain. It was very unprofessional to be having those types of thoughts about Tommy right in front of a child.
Nicki joined her front and center in front of the cameras, occasionally looking back to Fitz for any form of reassurance.
When the interview finally did start the announcer held the microphone up to Nicki's face.
'Tonight here with me I have little Nicolas Pope who shot the game winning shot tonight. How does it feel to finally score a goal?' she asked.
'It felt great.' he smiled and nodded his head. 'But, it wasn't just me. My whole team helped. I wouldn't have been able to do it without them.' he commented, basically parroting things that he had heard Fitz say before during interviews.
'We saw you took quite a fall out there on the ice.' she frowned.
Nicki sighed, but nodded his head. 'Yes, but I'm okay. Just a little blood.'
'Well, we found this out there for you.' she reached underneath her chair and pulled out a small container.
Nicki studied it for a moment, and then gasped. 'My tooth!!'
In the commotion of the evening, Nicki hadn't even noticed that his once wiggly loose tooth was now gone. He grabbed it from the announcer and held it up for Fitz to see. 'Uncle Fitz, my tooth fell out!!'
Fitz grinned and gave him a thumbs up from right off camera. The on duty tooth fairy would be sure to treat Nicki well tonight since all he had in his wallet was a 50 bill.
After a quick stop to get Nicki's lip seen, the boys headed back to Fitz's house. He was a bit nervous as he awaited an angry phone call from Olivia. She was highly against Nicki trying hockey, so it was going to be his head on a platter over this situation.
He tried his best not to show his expression to Nicolas, though.
The doctor didn't believe that Nicki would need any stitches - his mouth would just be sore for a few days. By the time they made it home Nicolas was worn out. Fitz forced him into the tub for a bath, and then he put him straight to bed.
While he wasn't ready for the tongue lashing that Olivia was sure to give him, he found himself quite perturbed that she hadn't called.
Doesn't she realize I can't go a day without hearing her voice?
They'd be leaving for their vacation in two days, and Fitz took this opportunity to pack up his bags. He didn't care much about the clothes, but he had one piece of precious cargo that he knew he couldn't leave behind.
He had been hiding Olivia's ring in plain sight - at the bottom of his underwear drawer. His maids did the majority of his laundry, so she never had a reason to snoop around in there. Fitz dug underneath his multiple layers of boxers until his fingers ran across the box that he was looking for.
While the ring was special itself, he had also had the box custom made. Whenever it was opened it would play the tune to Stevie Wonder's 'I Was Made To Love Her'. He hadn't heard the song before meeting Olivia, but it was apparent that he identified with the lyrics.
If baseball suddenly disappeared, he lost all his money, and he no longer had any strength in his body; the only thing that would remain was how deeply, madly, and devastatingly in love he was with Olivia Pope.
He wrapped the box up in a few pairs of socks, another form of Olivia repellent, and put it in his carry-on suitcase. It wanted to keep it as close to him as possible. Before Fitz could continue, though, he heard the front door open.
It was nearly midnight by now, and he definitely wasn't expecting anyone. Jenkins was locked away in his crate, but he hadn't even started barking.
Fitz went to his closet and grabbed the baseball bat that he kept there. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he was about to get to the bottom of it. He tiptoed through the hallway, making sure to close the door to Nicolas' room on the way, and kept his weapon at a ready stance.
'Who is it?' he called out, hesitantly turning the corner to the living room.
While he didn't see an intruder, the front door was cracked open. His heart began to beat even faster in his chest, more worried for Nicki than himself. He approached the door slowly, then flung it open and swung the bat as hard as he could.
'Are you crazy??' Olivia screamed. Her only saving grace was that she had bent over to pick up her suitcase off the ground. If he had been two seconds later she would have had a bat to the temple.
'Livvie!' he gasped, dropping the bat. He quickly grabbed her bag and shoved it inside, before grabbing her by her arms and bringing her in as well. 'What are you doing back here so late? I thought you weren't coming home until tomorrow.'
'I missed you guys and decided to come back earlier.' she huffed. 'I would have stayed back though if I had known you were going to try and kill me!'
'Don't say that.' he murmured. 'And you're going to wake Nicki up if you keep yelling. I thought you were a criminal.'
'You live in a gated neighborhood with armed guards at the entrance.' Olivia grumbled back to him.
Fitz took a deep breath and grabbed Olivia by her waist, pulling her body closer to his. He visibly relaxed when he felt her presence in his arms. 'I'm very glad you're home.'
'You've got a funny way of showing it.' she murmured.
'Olivia,' he groaned. 'I'm sorry. You were the last person I expected to see here tonight.'
'Oh?' she questioned, pulling back from his embrace. 'You were expecting someone else?'
He immediately blushed. 'You know what I meant. Don't tease me.'
'Were you already asleep?' she reached up and took hold of his cheeks, rubbing her thumbs underneath his tired eyes. 'I'm sorry if I woke you.'
'I was actually packing.' he chuckled.
'Why don't you finish that up, and I'll go take a quick shower and join you in bed?' she suggested with a smile.
By the time Olivia was done in the bathroom, Fitz was already sitting up against the backboard of the bed and waiting for her.
She soon emerged wrapped in nothing but a white towel. Fitz was typically the type to pack last minute, so she was pretty proud of him when she saw his suitcase sitting up next to hers.
'I'm impressed.' she gestured over to his bag.
The real reason he had been so eager to pack was because he was absolutely giddy about their trip. Olivia was already his in every meaning of the word, but in a couple of days they'd be ready to officially take their relationship to the next level. While he had no doubt that her answer would be yes this time around, he still found himself a bit nervous.
'You should've never doubted me.' he grinned.
'But you've proven time and time again that you can't be trusted with your packing.' she chuckled. Olivia walked over to the laundry basket in Fitz's walk-in closet and discarded her bath towel. 'Did you pack Nicki's bag, too?'
His breath hitched, he just knew he had forgotten something. 'Not yet, but I'm going to.'
Olivia smirked and shook her head. She could tell that Fitz was trying, so she wouldn't be too hard on him. She returned from the closet wearing nothing but a lavender colored silk robe that ended right at her upper thighs.
'We'll do it together tomorrow.' she offered, loosely tying the belt around her waist.
'How was your trip?' Fitz asked. 'Did Tanya put up a fight?'
She chuckled. One of the reasons she came home so early was actually because of Tanya's comments at the dinner table. Olivia knew that Fitz loved her, but her sister had managed to touch on one of her main relationship insecurities. In the beginning she always felt that the famous 'Tommy' was simply using her, or would throw her away once she was bored. And although Fitz had proven to her time and time again that it was all in her head, it didn't make it sting any less when she heard it from someone else.
Olivia sauntered over to Fitz's side of the bed, greeting him with a warm smile. Her left hand pressed against his bare chest, and she leaned down to take his lips. He was pretty surprised by her forwardness, he assumed she would be tired after such a long trip, but he wouldn't complain about it either.
'I don't want to talk about Tanya right now.' she stated, pulling back so that she could start kissing him down his jawline.
Fitz swallowed hard. 'Livvie, you're going to get me all worked up.'
'I'm not doing anything to you, Fitz.' she simpered. Olivia waited until she made it to the lobe of his ear and she took it into her mouth.
He huffed loudly. She knew that that was one of his secret hot spots, and she was taking advantage of the knowledge. As the tent began to grow in his sweatpants, he decided to give in to her actions.
Olivia pulled away, and he groaned in complaint. She crossed her arms against her chest, causing her breasts to spill out of the top of her ensemble. Fitz licked his lips as her mounds caught his eyes.
'Fitz, do you love me?' she asked, ignoring his wandering gaze.
'Ya, sure.' he nodded, never looking away from her chest.
She reached out and took a hold of his head, her fingers gripping the hair on his scalp. Olivia pulled his face up until they could see eye to eye.
'Fitzgerald,' she said in a somewhat icy tone. 'do you love me?'
This time she had caught his attention. He cut his eyes at her a bit. 'Of course I love you. I tell you all the time.'
'I know.' she nodded, releasing his hair. 'You tell me a lot of things.'
His nose crinkled. 'You're speaking in riddles.'
Olivia ignored his comment, and instead slid into the bed with him. He had the comforter covering his legs, but she quickly got rid of it. She straddled his waist, sitting directly on top of his growing member.
'How much do you love me?' she asked, now grinding her body into his.
Fitz groaned, his eyes nearly rolling to the back of his head. He always took the lead in the bedroom, so this was new territory for him. He liked seeing this side of her.
'So much.' he nodded, his breath catching in the back of his throat.
'How much, Fitzgerald.' Olivia questioned, her hips never slowing.
She knew exactly how much she could tease him until it got to be unbearable, and she planned on pushing him to his limit. Her hand traveled to one of his exposed nipples, and she lightly pinched it. The simple action caused Fitz's entire body to jerk, and she had to keep herself from laughing at his reaction.
'Ahhhh.' he moaned lightly against his will. 'So much, Sunshine. More than anyone else.'
This made her eyes widen a bit. 'More than anyone?'
'Yes!' he nodded, now painfully hard underneath her unforgiving hips. 'C- Can I get rid of these pants?'
'No.' she pinched his nipple harder this time. 'Not until I'm done asking all of my questions.'
Fitz groaned loudly. 'What other questions?'
Olivia hummed softly. She really didn't have any intentions on taking their night in this direction, but she did find him extremely sexy when he was under her mercy.
And she had no intentions of being merciful.
'Sunshine, please?' he sighed, his head falling back. 'What's your next question?'
'What would you do for me?' she asked, biting her lip to stifle back a moan. The teasing was causing her to even stumble a bit, but she wasn't ready to give up their game as of yet.
'Anything you wanted.' he swallowed hard.
'Anything?' she asked, suddenly plopping her full weight down on his cock.
Fitz nearly squeaked. 'Anything!'
'Hmmm.' she murmured. 'Touch me.'
He eagerly nodded his head. There were few other things he ever wanted to touch more than the woman sitting before him.
Fitz's hands found themselves underneath her robes, fondling any part accessible to him. He started off at her taut stomach, appreciating the valley beneath her breasts. When he finally made it up a bit higher, he used his thumbs to tweak and tease her nipples.
'Anything?' she questioned again.
'Livvie,' he murmured softly, this time her eyes met his. 'why are you asking me these questions? You know I love you.'
She looked away from him, unwilling to admit that Tanya's taunting had brought up a very sore portion of their relationship. Olivia knew that Fitz hated when his past was brought up, and she didn't want to start an argument with him.
Instead, she turned the situation back around on him. Olivia raised off his lap, support herself on her knees, and reached into the waistband of his sweatpants.
'I want you to show me how much you love me.' she replied, taking note that Fitz's body was trembling in anticipation.
He lifted his hips off of the bed and assisted her with getting his bottoms down to his knees. As soon as his cock was free it sprang into its upright position, now pressing into his belly button. Fitz let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding in once he felt the reliefs of freedom.
Olivia took hold of the base of his penis, squeezing her hand tightly as she worked up and down his shaft. He nearly cried out with pleasure as she worked him.
'Olivia.' he groaned. 'Stop, I'm going to cum.'
'You won't.' she shook her head. Olivia leaned forward and took his mouth, sliding her tongue into his parted lips before he could even catch his breath.
'I love feeling your dick throb in my hand, though.' she commented, making Fitz's head spin. He thought he was going to be able to hold out, but he was driving her nuts.
When Fitz's body began to shake and quiver, she knew that he was close. She waited until he was about to burst, then removed her fingers.
'Olivia!' he nearly gasped, out of breath. She had never denied him an orgasm before, and he wasn't sure if he hated it or if her constant teasing was making him want her even more.
She used her hand to take hold of his cheeks, pinching them together a bit as she forced him to look at her in his eyes. His face was completely red, and his eyebrows were quivering in sexual frustration.
'Shut up.' she demanded.
Before he could respond, Olivia sat down completely on his cock. They usually would take it slow in this position, but not tonight.
She didn't stop until he was completely sheathed inside of her. Fitz's eyes nearly went cross, and Olivia couldn't help the satisfied smirk that took over her face. He was so deep she could nearly feel him in her abdomen, and she would swear that he was going to tear up her insides.
Fitz's hands clutched the bed sheets tightly as Olivia set the painstakingly slow pace. She leaned forward and licked the outer rim of his ear, causing him to shiver, before whispering slowly. 'You're so deep inside me.'
She took hold of one his hands and placed it at her core as she continued to mutter sweet nothings into his ear. 'Touch me, Fitz. Make me cum.'
