My impression of Lumine is totally derived from the Japanese and Chinese voiceover. She sounds much more calm and cold in comparison to the English voiceover.
There are quite a few jokes (and also mistranslations!) in Genshin Impact that just do not work in English, thus this fic will be based mostly on the Chinese and Japanese versions. Many characters also give off a totally different impression when playing with CN/JP— Childe's mistranslated dialogue in the Golden House is a very well-known example. My Korean isn't fluent enough yet to understand the Korean version oop-
If you squint hard enough you might find Lumine/everyone, but people catching feelings are not a focus of this fic.
Spoilers for Mondstadt's Daily Commission where you have to help Rudolf (the father in the Church) pick out a gift for his wife Jilliana.
"Have you ever seen the owl of Dragonspine? If you look directly at it, it seems to look right through you, while letting go none of its secrets...Quite fascinating, don't you think?"
-Kaeya Alberich
"The moment he gripped the sword, thunder roared, billows howled, and the clear skies were suddenly swallowed by the raging winds...With the might of the magic sword, my grandfather went on to defeat a hydra, a silver-haired banshee, a wicked dragon..." Kaeya threw his arms out dramatically, trying to excite his audience with tales of the hard-fought battles his non-existent pirate grandfather had won.
"...…" The traveler's usual impassive face never changed even at the efforts of the dramatic Kaeya.
My, the traveler sure wasn't as naïve as she looked, Kaeya thought with a slight twinge of pity. Well, it didn't matter if the traveler knew he was lying. As long as...
The Calvary Captain looked at the twinkling eyes of the U.F.C (Unidentified Flying Creature) beside her.
And so, with some riddles he had come up with within a minute, he made the traveler and her pet take a spin around Mondstadt, eventually arriving at the "Lost Arcadian Ruins". Paimon had excelled at her job in luring treasure hoarders to the ruins, and after nabbing the flustered group squatting outside the ruins, Kaeya decided it was time for the climax of the show.
"...…"
—was exactly the reaction the traveler gave him when he announced his presence, walking in suavely with two knights flanking him.
Kaeya sighed internally. He had been hoping that the traveler would at least humour him with a slight widening of her eyes. The young lady had kept up with his pirate charade all this time after all, what was one request for her to move her eyelids?
Hmm. But one shouldn't get too greedy.
After the small scuffle with the Ruin Guard, Kaeya exposed the two, "Though the treasure didn't exist, you did want it for yourself, didn't you?"
He watched embarrassment cross the traveler's face.
So she can be embarrassed. Interesting.
"You have my apologies for the deception. I will not use the same method twice."
"Meaning you'll use a different method next time?" Now it was her turn to expose him. The traveler rarely said something, leaving her pet to do most of the talking for her. But every time she spoke up, she would have a wonderful quip prepared.
Kaeya chuckled and smoothly avoided her question, "What a wonderful day. Now, I have to go interrogate my suspect..."
This young lady wasn't giving him any chances wasn't she? Usually his charms worked well on girls her age...maybe a little too well with the number of love letters he receives every Windblume.
A traveler was a traveler after all. She must have seen and experienced more than the little girls well protected in Mondstadt ever could.
The Calvary Captain would sometimes take time out of his busy schedule to watch the traveler.
Mondstadt's Honorary Knight was just as busy as him. Other than taking daily commissions from the Adventurer's Guild, the kindhearted girl would occasionally help out others, like finding Magaret's "sweet little Princey" who seemed to go missing every other day. Kaeya was pretty sure the cat had a kink for people chasing after him.
On somedays when he would catch the busy golden-haired bee resting at Angel's Share, he would teasingly offer some Death After Noon to the traveler and watch her reach for it, only to swipe the tankard away before her fingers could close over the handle. The first time he did it, he took great pleasure in the slight pout and the admonishing "Kaeya!" that followed after. The second time, he had to pull out his best cajolery skills to get her to reach for the tankard... only for Kaeya to whip it out of her reach again. The traveler almost threw Paimon off her lap to punch Kaeya as he laughed his head off. But of course, the traveler had good upbringing, so she kept to her seat and only huffed a "Hmph! I should have known!" while Paimon went on to give Kaeya the beat down. By the third time, the traveler just sipped her grape juice in silent contempt.
Lumine didn't even like alcohol that much, but having the option barred completely just because she looked underage was annoying. Well, yes, technically she was underaged, just not in human years.
However, it wouldn't be as annoying as putting in the effort to argue with them about her real age, and giving them a fake but more realistic number would be lying to these kind people. Lumine disliked lying. So she kept quiet and accepted her fate.
Aether never let her drink too much beyond a small cup, always saying that alcohol was bad for the body; when Lumine was done panicking over her missing twin, she actually was hoping for a chance to drink as much as she wanted without Aether constantly supervising over her like a hawk.
Though now the people of Mondstadt, especially Diluc, had become that hawk.
Lumine turned the cup of grape juice in her hands, ignoring the icy glares Diluc was shooting at his brother, who was once again trying to tempt her with his tankard.
"You...If you don't stop it I'll kick you out of the tavern," the red-haired hawk warned with folded arms across the bar.
"Relax, Diluc. She's not even responding to me anymore, right, traveler?
Lumine nodded, still keeping her eyes on her unfinished grape juice.
Kaeya chuckled and the two brothers continued bickering. Lumine barely paid any attention to any of it.
Sigh.
Always being "invited" by either of these two brothers to the tavern just so them two could have a good bonding session (if you counted arguments short of punching each other's faces then yes, they were bonding) with her as the in-between was hilarious and also exasperating. If the two of them were more honest Lumine wouldn't have to sit in so many sessions of listening to them throw insults at each other. Surprsingly, it was Sister Rosaria whom had given the advice to act like a wall, and only make their presence known when things get too heated.
"If it's you, they'll stop," Sister Rosaria had caught the bewildered Lumine before she exited the church after completing a commission, "I would rather enjoy my after hours without being a pacifier for those two idiots."
With a smirk, she added, "I think I would enjoy my night more if they fought."
And thus Lumine became a replacement for Rosaria who had been searching for one since forever.
Lumine didn't pry much into what happened to the two brothers for them to be at loggerheads with each other. But from all the gossip people always shared with her, it wasn't so easy for the pair of brothers to admit they still cared for each other.
She drummed her fingers lightly on the table in boredom, staring at the motes of dust dancing in the filtered sunlight shining through the bar windows. The sun was setting.
Another day without Aether by her side.
Lumine watched the two brothers come to the end of another satisfying round of "bonding".
How nice it would be if alcohol was in her cup instead.
As the traveler grew closer to the people of Mondstadt, she became more generous with her expressions and would occasionally steal the hearts of everyone with a warm smile. Cats and dogs around the city loved to gather around her as well (except for Prince), and it was rumoured that the amiable yet aloof Chief Alchemist had taken a liking to her, given how sometimes she would disappear to Dragonspine for days. There were bets going around the taverns whether the Chief Alchemist was interested in her romantically or experimentally, and Kaeya witnessed just how smitten Mondstadt's people were for the traveler.
"What do you mean?! How can the Chief Alchemist possibly be worthy of our saviour of Mondstadt, the gentle moonlight of our city!" The drunken man shook his finger angrily in the face of his foe. "He may be a genius of the century but he clearly loves alchemy more than anything! Our gentle Knight will suffer at his hands!"
The also-drunken foe stood up and placed a foot on his chair, "I support our Honorary Knight's true happiness! If our Honorary Knight loves him, then so it shall be! No one shall obstruct our Knight's happiness!"
"Nonsense! Our Honorary Knight deserves better!"
Another voice joined the fray, presumably the only sober person in this whole tavern, "We don't even know if our Chief Alchemist likes her or—"
"DON'T BE ABSURD! HOW DARE OUR CHIEF ALCHEMIST NOT BE TAKEN BY HER!"
Kaeya watched the tavern dissolve into a chaotic uproar with amusement.
The next day after the tavern almost collapsed under the passion of the men (and women) for their Honorary Knight, Timaeus received a lot of dirty looks and tongue clicks in Albedo's stead.
Timaeus: "Sir Kaeya...did I do something wrong?"
Kaeya could only offer a comforting pat on the shoulder.
Timaeus: (´Д` ) ??
The Calvary Captain thought he should show some appreciation for the traveler for their help in defeating Stormterror and contributing to Mondstadt by running commissions for the people every day.
"What is this?" The traveler looked from the official Knights of Favonius letterhead paper to the smiling Kaeya.
"I don't know," replied the Captain, still smiling like a Cheshire cat, "I suppose I must have gotten drunk and started scribbling nonsense."
Kaeya watched the traveler's eyes narrow in doubt. You-are-bullshitting-me-right-now was written across her face. The meticulously detailed list of treasure hoarders, mercenaries and bandits, their personal profiles, area of acitivity—everything was written in a tiny, neat handwriting that was undoubtedly Kaeya's. The traveler was pretty sure all criminal activity around Mondstadt could be eradicated for good with this stalker-ish list.
She looked pointedly at the note in the margin of the list. It said, "Otherwise, things would get too boring."
The traveler raised an eyebrow at the mysterious Captain who just shrugged his shoulders and said, "If you are facing any trouble with the Abyss Order, you can come to me."
Then he walked out of his office for his daily drink of Death After Noon.
A few weeks later, the traveler barged into his office, looking slightly—just slightly—pissed.
"I see, so that little list you made when you were bored came real handy." The traveler put her arms on her hips, glaring at the confused Captain.
"Still as cute as ever even when angry, dear Traveler," Kaeya effortlessly tossed out a flirtatious compliment as he rose from his seat to welcome her, which only served to escalate the traveler's anger from slightly pissed to pissed. "Pray tell, what did I do to make our Honorary Knight so displeased?"
"You— " The little lady raised a finger to point at him, but put it down again because she found it too rude. "Vile didn't inform you yet?"
"Oh, you mean the gift I prepared for Jilliana? My, I didn't think that you of all people would find it distasteful. I'm surprised." He sighed, turning all puppy-eyed on the traveler, "I thought we had a connection, my friend..."
Sister Jilliana, a treasure hoarder who escaped from the organisation to Mondstadt, had been blackmailed by her former comrades using Rudolf and Lily for years. Jilliana was then given a subtle "reminder" of her past through a present from Rudolf, prepared by Vile.
Who, of course, was listening to the orders of the infuriating man standing before the traveler.
"Couldn't you have...…helped her in a gentler way? When I defeated the treasure hoarders and saw her standing at that cliff's edge, I really—" She frowned deeply, then turned to glare at Kaeya again. "She wasn't planning on returning to Mondstadt at all! If I wasn't there..."
Not know how to put her anger into words, the traveler punched Kaeya in the arm. Being someone who rarely got angry, she didn't have much experience scolding others. In fact, she didn't even talk much on a daily basis. If only Paimon wasn't sleeping, the rambunctious fairy would have given him a piece of their minds.
Kaeya gave a large yelp and rubbed his arm even though the punch hurt no more than a pillow slapping into him.
The traveler looked disdainfully at him then turned away with crossed arms.
Kaeya couldn't help but chuckle at the young lady. He debated on telling her how she was just like a cat giving its returning owner from a business trip the cold-shoulder (he would love to see her hiss like one) but decided against it. He was pretty sure instead of hissing the traveler was going to walk out of the door and proceed to not talk to him for at least a few days. Placating the angry kitten was more important.
"It's because I trust you, traveler." Kaeya dropped to a serious tone, startling the traveler a little. He could read her much better now compared to when he tried hoodwinking her with his pirate grandfather.
Sometimes, a spyglass was needed to spot her facial expressions, yet sometimes she was as open as a book. Though he noticed the traveler tended to clam up with a ambiguous, polite smile when inquired about her brother or her past.
Doesn't matter, everyone has their own secrets.
"Traveler, you know perfectly well that Jilliana was the only one who could overcome her past. The present was a necessity," Mondstadt's best son-in-law candidate appealed to the Honorary Knight's back, "I trusted that you would be able to bring back Jilliana safe and sound. Vile must have explained to you, sending the Knights of Favonius would have exposed Jilliana's secret which she tried so hard to keep, and there was no guarantee that they could have defeated the treasure hoarders."
Kaeya pulled on her tails of her scarf gently, smoothing a small crease on the end with his hands. "You are as strong and clever as you are kind, my friend. Which is why I knew that you were the perfect for the job."
"And I was right," he smirked.
Not a single apology from Kaeya, nor any words calling for forgiveness. He knew his actions were contentious but within reason. If the traveler were to demand an apology— no, if anyone were to demand an apology, the Captain would never comply.
However, the traveler was not looking for an apology. The young lady burst into the office, fuming and ready to pummel Kaeya, but not once did she say: "You should not have done that." Instead, she questioned Kaeya— why, for all his cunningness and resourcefulness, he could not have found a less dangerous approach in helping Jilliana?
What if everything had not gone according to plan? What if the traveler had arrived to the scene late, to greet a beaten and bloody Jilliana? What if she hadn't been able to stop Jilliana from leaving Mondstadt, abandoning her husband and child without any sort of explanation, just like what her brother did?
Anything regarding families and safety was a landmine for the traveler, especially with a missing brother.
The traveler understood Kaeya, but she was still disappointed.
The tall, dark and handsome man swung the tail of her scarf like a pouting child begging for candy. "Our dear traveler, please don't be angry at me anymore, okay?"
Seeing her still standing like an unmoving rock, Kaeya finally decided to reveal all his cards, "To tell you the truth, I had a few of my...acquaintances in the treasure hoarders keep an eye out for Jilliana."
He leaned in closer to the young girl, "Why do you think Vile knew her exact location, hmm?"
The flower in her blonde locks grazed his cheek as the traveler finally whipped around to look at this conniving man. Her mouth opened as she tried to find words that dodged her.
"Traveler," he stared down into her golden eyes, velvet smooth voice bringing a faint flush of pink to the blonde's cheeks. "In the group of hoarders ambushing Jilliana, they were ready t— "
His words were cut off by the traveler pushing his face out of her personal space. Her other hand flew to readjust the flowers in her hair, or perhaps was it to cup the ear Kaeya had just breathed into?
Kaeya blinked quizzically at her as if he didn't know what he had done. But his attempt to communicate with his eyes failed since his office table's leg was somehow catching all her attention with its fading polish and mundanity.
She cleared her throat, then realising that her hand was still on the side of her head, awkwardly put her hand down, but couldn't decide to resume crossing her arms or let them hang naturally. Kaeya watched her struggle with amusement until she looked up and their line of sight crossed.
The blush across her cheeks deepened. She began inching closer to the door, "S-Sorry, I...uh..."
"I-I understand! I shouldn't have been so rude...Sorry for barging in..." Her eyes flitted one more time around the room, miraculously glossing over the smiling, blue-haired "elephant" standing smack dab in the middle of the room. "Good night! See you...um..."
The flustered traveler barely finished her words before boosting herself with Anemo to the door, almost slamming it shut in her hurry to escape.
The gust of wind left the lingering scent of the nameless flowers in her hair swirling gently around his office. Kaeya could almost feel the petals brushing against his cheek again, tickling like a feather. Something within him itched to run his fingers through her hair, maybe they would be as soft as the petals—
The Captain caught himself before he could continue the line of thought further. He glanced out his window, catching a flash of the traveler's white dress as she dashed out of the headquarters and behind a corner.
"Hm," he chuckled, "I haven't had my drink yet I'm already feeling tipsy."
Rosaria came to see how the traveler was holding up being the bridge for the two stubborn brothers.
The contents of the girl's cup had upgraded from grape juice to a Berry and Mint Burst.
The brothers though, were still the same as ever.
"If you find them annoying, you can leave. I'll take care of it." Rosaria gave the traveler a smile that could only be described as a quirk of her lips. Still, it was rare that Rosaria would quirk her lips at anyone.
"My, my, this icy Sister of the Favonius Church, don't you have anything else better to do?" Kaeya interjected, "Like...your nightly prayers?"
It was certainly after work hours, and the stars outside were slowly becoming brighter. Usually Rosaria would set out right after the sun had set to shadow and eliminate the enemies of Mondstadt, but today she made a special effort to come and see the traveler.
"Not dark enough yet..." Rosaria took a sip of dandelion wine, her light wine-coloured eyes locking onto Diluc who was silently wiping an already clean and dry glass cup behind the counter. "Not dark enough yet for the Darknight Hero to appear, certainly."
Diluc pretended he hadn't heard anything and continued polishing the shiny glass.
Kaeya chuckled and toasted his drink towards Rosaria. "You noticed, huh?"
"What kind of idiot wouldn't be able to tell?" The sharp Sister knocked her empty tankard twice on the counter as a signal for seconds. Diluc reluctantly put down the gleaming and glistening glass to pour her another cup of dandelion wine.
"You were certainly not trying your best to be inconspicuous," The master of Dawn Winery retorted.
"Really? I think I kept quite a low-profile. Unlike this...Darknight Hero." Rosaria made a face at the cheesy name. "He sure didn't bother to not use that flashy fire of his, blatantly flaunting it in the darkness so everyone would notice him."
The traveler choked back on her laughter and choked on her juice instead. The sleepy Paimon on her lap opened one eye to pat her leg lethargically.
"I didn't throw any big fire birds out there, bathing half of Mondstadt in light and waking the citizens up from their sleep." The ruthless Sister didn't bother to leave any face for the biggest tycoon of Mondstadt. "In retrospect, I like doing my job quickly and silently. In fact, I always made sure to take a big detour every time I see a flash of fire." Rosaria raised her eyebrows at Diluc who had given up on polishing the radiant glasses and instead stood there with crossed arms, "I wonder how my private, nightly routine came to be known by this..." she waved a hand vaguely at Diluc, "...businessman."
"Was it you?" Rosaria's cutting glare landed on the Calvary Captain on her left, but her tone was still as light as the flower used to make the wine in her tankard. A veiled threat, it was.
"Me? Ho, not me, definitely not!" Kaeya put a hand to his chest, "I have no interest in talking about women's nightly routines to anyone."
Rosaria narrowed her eyes suspiciously at Kaeya. The poor Captain threw his arms up in exasperation "You have to help me, traveler!"
The traveler copied Kaeya with an expressionless face.
Rosaria's lips curved upwards into something infinitely closer to a smile. She turned back to Diluc and gave him a head to toe. Her eyes lingered a little longer on his expensive attire.
"I see," concluded Rosaria.
The traveler couldn't tell what she saw, but it must be something that gave her a satisfactory answer.
The tavern was getting busier with the darkening sky. There was silence as Diluc tended to another customer coming up to order drinks. Charles the bartender had taken an urgent leave, leaving Diluc to fill in for him.
The traveler, while patting a sleepy Paimon on her lap, spoke the first words of her day, "I think Sister Rosaria should get a name too."
"Hm?" Three pairs of eyes shot to the traveler.
"Like how Master Diluc— "The traveler paused, checking their surroundings for any patrons that might be in hearing distance before continuing in an excited whisper, "Like how Master Diluc is 'Justice Man', Sister Rosaria should be 'Justice Woman'!"
"...It's 'Darknight Hero'. Not 'Justice Man'." Diluc who hated stupid name the most was unexpectedly the one to correct the traveler.
"Oh? Sorry about that. I've been listening to Paimon's nickname for so long that I accidentally switched it around," the traveler giggled.
"...Paimon's nickname for me was 'Captain Pyro'," said Justice Man.
"Oh? Sorry about that. I've been listening to my own head for so long that I accidentally switched it around," the traveler grinned.
Silence was the only reply to the traveler's shamelessness.
"You have a terrible naming sense, traveler." Rosaria commented, "Worse than that floating child."
"Thank you for the compliment."
There was a reason why everyone defaulted to calling the traveler, "traveler".
When the traveler first arrived, Amber eagerly (and innocently) introduced their newest visitor of Mondstadt, Mike_ocksmall, to everyone.
Kaeya only had to say the name once, and decide to never call the traveler by her "name" again.
The deadpan look that the traveler was always able to keep when people called her by her name was something Kaeya could never hope to achieve. The astute Captain was sure as hell that it was not the traveler's real name, but he had no proof. If anyone were to ask the traveler about how or why she got her name, she would say: "I named myself. Why? You got any problems with that?"
No one knew if she deliberately chose the name because of what it entailed, or because she genuinely thought it was a nice-sounding name, but it was enough for everyone to default to calling the young lady "traveler" instead. Everyone knew who the "traveler" they were all referring to, so there was no other need to pester the girl for her real name. Also, harassing a girl for a name they didn't even know whether was real or not wouldn't look good on anyone.
There was a time though, when Kaeya swallowed his pride and tried testing the traveler by calling her "name" as many times as he possibly could.
"Mike_ocksmall, how was your day? Did Klee blow up anything today?"
"That must have been hard, Mike_ocksmall. Thank you for always taking care of Klee."
"Jean wanted to thank you for always helping her with a meal at Good Hunter, are you available tonight, Mike_ocksmall?"
"Mike_ocksmall, I also happen to have a commission for you..."
"No problem, Mike_ocksmall."
"Mike_ocksmall! You look positively radiant today!"
"I'm tuckered out from all the paperwork, want to go to the tavern together, Mike_ocksmall?"
The traveler first thought it was odd that someone was using her name, since almost every Mondstadter was already used to calling her by "Honorary Knight" or "Traveler", and it was even more unusual for Kaeya to switch back to addressing her by name in every sentence he could fit it into.
She wasn't dumb. Of course she knew what he was trying to do.
And it was the perfect chance she had been waiting for.
The traveler arranged to meet the Captain one day after work in the market square. She brought out a small "prototype" that Albedo had supposedly gifted her, although it just looked like a normal red crystal to Kaeya. It did seem to emit a weird warmth unlike any other crystals, and according to the traveler, it was a device that could project real-time images of places where she had placed the similar "miraculous ess— uh, miraculous devices".
She had a surprise for him (Kaeya was really touched), and to see it, he just had to activate the red crystal in his hands.
"How do I activate this?" Kaeya turned the "device" around in his hands, looking for a switch or button that could start it. The perfectly smooth surface of the crystal— no, device—twinkled back at him.
"Oh, it's voice-activated! Albedo set the activation spell as my name, isn't that cool?"
Paimon: "Actually— "
The traveler grabbed the floating Paimon, smashing the wriggling imp into her chest in a forceful hug, "Aw, Paimon! Don't spoil the surprise! You always do that!"
Paimon: "Lefoofgome— "
"You just have say my name three times and it'll activate!"
"Hmm, alright." Kaeya took in a deep breath, "Mike_ocksmall, Mike_ocksmall, Mike_ocksmall."
The device in his hands twinkled just like any crystal would.
"Oh? It does not seem to be working."
Paimon managed to lift her head: "She— "
The traveler squished Paimon harder, confusion written across her face, "But it worked when I tested it last night..." She glanced at Kaeya's slowly rising eyebrow and knew he was starting to get suspicious. "I swear it worked last night! Maybe you were too soft? Try shouting my name loudly this time!"
Kaeya smirked, but decided to humour her, "Here we go then."
"MIKE_OCKSMALL, MIKE_OCKSMALL, MIKE_OCKSMALL!"
The bustling crowd in the market square whirled around to look for the source of the noise, only to find their Honorary Traveler standing there with an incredibly smug look on her face, and a somewhat unamused Calvary Captain.
"Oh no," said the traveler with a big smug smile, "Why didn't it work~?"
"Oh ho, I'm pretty sure it worked, dear Traveler," Kaeya plopped the extraordinarily common crystal back into her hand, a grin of revenge on his lips, "It worked very, very well."
And that's how Kaeya got the concrete proof that he wanted.
The Windblume Festival's preparations always start many months before the actual event, and the Knights were gradually getting swamped with the increasing workload.
Kaeya had been stuck in his office for many days— he even had to skip out on his beloved Death After Noon to pull an all-nighter twice now.
Just as he was to give up and sneak a trip to the tavern, three knocks on his door sounded.
The Captain could immediately tell from the sound and position of the knocks that the strongest fighter of Mondstadt was visiting. "Come in, Klee."
"Big brother Kaeya!" The red burny girl bounced in, "Have you seen big sister Honorary Knight?"
"I haven't seen her in a while. She's probably busy out doing commissions for others, no?" Kaeya patted his thigh and Klee raised her arms so she could be picked up. The Captain settled the little elf onto his lap, adjusting her bulky backpack so it wouldn't make her uncomfortable.
"But Klee asked everyone else and they said they haven't seen big sister Honorary Knight for quite some time. Klee went to find big brother Albedo at Dragonspine, but he is still busy, so Klee wanted to find big sister Honorary Knight to play with!"
Kaeya hummed, "She must be at Liyue then. Big sister Honorary Knight is busy making new friends there."
"Oh..." Klee looked crestfallen, "Big sister Honorary Knight is always at Liyue these days. Klee misses her..."
Kaeya patted her head, "You can go blow up some fishes today, I think Master Jean might be too busy to notice it this time round."
"Really? Klee can go play with the fishes today?" Klee twisted around, unwittingly grating her backpack painfully against Kaeya.
"I'll cover you if anything happens," he winked.
"Yay! Are you busy, big brother Kaeya? Can you come and blow up fishes with me?" The eager fish terrorist was already halfway to the door when she extended the invitation.
"Sorry Klee, the Knights are busy preparing for the Windblume Festival. I'll play with you...hmm...when the Festival is over?"
"Big brother Kaeya!"
"Just joking, ha ha ha ha, I'll play with you tomorrow."
Kaeya sent the enthusiastic child off before sinking back into his chair. The stacks of paperwork seemed to never decrease— or maybe it was due to the lack of help from a certain person happily gallivanting around in Liyue.
A traveler was a traveler after all. A heartless bunch, they were.
1. Justice Man ( 正义人)is Paimon's nickname for Diluc in the Chinese dub (instead of Captain Pyro).
2. The red crystal/ "prototype"/ "device" was the miraculous essence (event item) used in 1.2 The Chalk Prince and the Dragon to exchange for items in the shop. Yeah, basically the traveler really duped Kaeya there.
3. In the Chinese and Japanese dub, Klee addresses everyone with big brother and big sister (except Jean whom she calls Master Jean; and Auntie— uh, Big Sister Lisa!) In Chinese it's gege (big brother), or jiejie (big sister), in Japanese it's onii-chan (big brother) or onee-chan (big sister). So it would be "Kaeya gege/Kaeya onii-chan!" For Lisa, it was ah-yi (auntie in chinese), or obachan (in japanese).
4. If you don't understand what Mike_ocksmall means, try reading it out loud quickly. Or replace the "ke" with "c" in Mi_keocksmall.
