Chapter 2
The First Night
When the uniform was delivered, it came with a booklet titled 'A Guide to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza for those who are new to the fun!'. Issei opened it, but only bothered to read the names of the Animatronics: Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Bunny, Chica the Chicken, and Foxy the Pirate Fox.
The names of the characters came with pictures of them, and it surprised Issei that they looked less detailed than he was expecting; it almost gave him the chills. But it doesn't matter, midnight is coming in half an hour, and Freddy's was located halfway across town.
When he walked out of his room in his new uniform, everyone else, wanting to see him off in his new uniform, waited for him in the living room. After watching his parents rant about how proud they are of him, Issei got on his bike, and rode to Freddy's.
When he got there, a man was waiting right next to the front door for him.
"Hello there." Issei said to the man
"Hi. Are you Issei Hyoudou?"
"Yes, I am."
"I'm Henry, we talked over the phone."
"Oh! Hey, how ya doing?"
"Well, I'm just here to give you the keys to the building, and let you know that there's a recording left in your office by your mentor, who was in your position before you. He's gonna show you the ins and outs of the job, so you might wanna check that out."
"Okay, thanks."
Issei took the keys, as Henrywished him a good night while getting in his car, and driving off. The door was unlocked, but Issei had the keys, so it wouldn't have been a problem.
Inside, Issei scanned the room, observing the dining area, with its blue-and-red tiled floor, and the festive design of the chairs, tables, and party hats. He then turned to the right, noticing the stage, with three of the four animatronics on it: Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica.
"Brrr, these things look creepier in person. How can Americans love these things so much that they go international?!" Issei says aloud.
He then searches for the security office, and finds it in the back of the building. Issei found the look of the room odd, with the fact that it had 2 entrances on either side, and the old-fashioned fan blowing away on the desk. But, that doesn't matter, time to get to work.
Issei sat down in the chair, when a small beep could suddenly be heard, and curious as to what it could be, he followed in sound. Turns out, it was coming from a small answering machine; that was when Issei remembered what Scott said, and figured it could have been the guy who worked before him.
Issei turned the message on, and a shaky, nervous-sounding voice said, "Hello? Hello?! Um, hey. Um, if Issei is listening to this, I hope you're doing well. So, um, I'm the guy who worked in that office you're in before you, but I've recently been promoted to the dayshift. But anyway, enough about me, I'm supposed to be showing you how to do what the night guard does – though, I'm pretty sure Scott already told you that."
As Issei listened to his mentor, he could tell by the shake in his voice that this is probably his first time giving instructions to the newbie.
"So, uh, first thing you want to notice is that there's a tablet on your desk, if you see it, please turn it on, it'll provide you with live security camera feed."
Issei immediately noticed the tablet, and saw that the first camera that came on was the one for the main stage, with the core 3 animatronics still on display.
"Now, this is where we get to the important stuff, so, please listen up."
Issei temporarily turned the cameras off, so he could listen to the next part.
"So, there's this little greeting from the company that I'm supposed to read to you, it's just a legal thing, ya know? *clears throat* 'Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, a magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Upon discovery of damage or if death has occurred, a missing person's report will be filed within ninety days or as soon as property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached and the carpets have been replaced', and it goes on, but trust me when I say that the rest in unimportant."
Despite this person's assuring words, Issei is still confused by the fact that they needed to imply that he might get injured or killed. If the mentor didn't have his attention before, he certainly does now.
"Now, I know it sounds bad, but trust me, there's nothing to worry about, you're going to be okay, man. So, just be aware that the animatronic characters do, tend to, well, wander every now and then. You see, they have a free roaming mode that kicks in after being off for too long - or at least, I think that's the case."
"Wait! So, these things come to life at night?! A moment ago, they were creepy, but this is just downright absurd!" Issei said to himself.
His mentor's message continued with, "Now, we've been looking for a new guard after I got promoted, because we need someone to monitor their actions. Now, concerning your safety, um, I-if these animatronic characters see you after hours, just know that they have this glitch in their optics, to where they won't see you as a person, but rather as a metal endoskeleton without it's costume on. Now, of course, that's against the rules, so they might try to stuff you inside one of those suits in the backroom, which is a problem because of the crossbeams, wires, and other things that'll, well, make your eyes... and teeth, pop out the front of the mask."
Now, after hearing this new information, Issei is freaking out of his mind, but tries as hard as he possibly can to keep his cool. When he managed to keep himself from panicking, he continued to listen to the message.
"Yeah, it's crazy, I know. They used to walk around during the day, but then came the Bite of '87."
"The what?!"
"Oh, shoot! I'm sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned that. Anyway, check those cameras, make sure to keep a close eye on the animatronics, and remember to close the doors only when it's absolutely necessary, we need to conserve power. Alright, good night, and good luck!"
That's when Issei noticed the digital power bar, also sitting on the desk, showing that he has only 97% left from the message playing. He then looked to the camera, and Bonnie had already left the stage. After a few seconds of looking for him, he appeared on the camera for the dining hall. Issei sighed a sigh of relief, knowing he's nowhere near him, when suddenly, the camera filled with static, but when it came back after a few seconds, it showed that Bonnie went from being in the dining hall, to being down the left hall from the security office.
Issei thought back to what his mentor said about what would happen if one of these robots got too close to him, and he immediately ran next to the button that closes the door, ready to push it at the right time. In almost no time at all, Issei hears footsteps coming from outside the door, that go on for a few seconds, and then... Bonnie comes walking down the hallway. But unfortunately for him, Issei has been able to see in the dark ever since he was reincarnated, so he knew the right moment to close the door.
Issei, now feeling a little bit more safe – but not by a lot – goes back to the cameras, and sees that Bonnie has somehow quickly traveled back to the dining area.
"Well, that was surprisingly quick." He said.
Bonnie came and went, while the rest of the animatronics didn't move for the rest of the night. Eventually, 6am rolled around, and Issei got to go home.
Back at the Hyoudou house, Xenovia was just heading back to her bedroom from the bathroom, when Issei walked in, and she immediately noticed, and with excitement in her voice, greeted him with, "Welcome home, Issei!"
But as Issei was about to respond, he fell to the ground. In a panic, Xenovia runs to see if he's okay, and Asia walks out of her room to see Issei on the ground. She rushes down to him, as do the others who are awakened by the commotion.
"How is he?!" Xenovia asks, as Asia checks on him.
With a sigh of relief, Asia replies, "Don't worry, he's not dead or injured, he's just tired. He's been out all night."
"In that case, let's get him into bed. He deserves a good night's rest." Rias said.
