(A/N: Chapter 5 and 6 are not the most interesting chapters as they basically just follow the plot of the movie, so I posted them the same day. Enjoy.)
Chapter Six
Elena's POV
By the time we got out the building my light headedness had faded slightly, but I wasn't as much help as I wanted to be.
Natasha and Clint were working on getting the cradle, a conversation I could hear over the comms, and Steve was fighting Ultron. As I didn't have any weapons to help in the fight and my hand to hand skills probably wouldn't do much against a robot, I used my time to get all the civilians out of the way.
Some were smart and ran, but others gawked at the scene.
I followed the fight, clearing the way up until we managed to get to the top of the train. Yes, they landed on a moving train, and I followed. I will say that in all my years at Hydra, that was a first.
Ultron blasting Cap through a hole in the train was also not expected. The fight moved to the inside of the train and the blast had knocked Cap down.
I did what I could and jumped on Ultron's back. I was easily knocked off, but it bought some time. I slammed back towards some scared passengers. I got up, in time to see a blur knock into Ultron. It was Pietro.
Wanda appears as well. Ultron pleads with them. "Don't do this."
Wanda responds. "What choice do we have?"
Ultron flies away, out of the train.
Steve talks to the team as I look at the controls of the train. It's all smashed. I turn back to Steve and the twins. "Guys, we're going to crash."
Steve takes charge. He points to Pietro, "get the civilians out of the way."
Pietro speeds away as Steve turns to Wanda, "Can you stop this train?"
She doesn't say anything, but red sparks spread around her fingers.
"I hope that's a yes." I mumble.
The train thankfully screeches to a stop and the four of us regroup.
"Are you okay?" I ask an out of breath Pietro.
He looks at me strangely, perhaps wondering why I would even care. It may be a good question. "I'm fine." He answers. "I just need a moment."
"I'm tempted not to give you one." Steve states, also still frustrated by their team-up with Ultron.
"Where's the cradle?" Wanda asks.
"Tony will take care of it." I say.
"No. He won't." Wanda says, worried.
"Stark's not crazy." Steve says.
"He will do what it takes to make things right."
Steve checks the comms. No one responds.
We show up at the lab, just as Tony is about to start up this creation.
"What are you doing, Tony?" I say.
"I'm fixing things."
"Shut it down!" Steve commands.
"Nope." Tony replies.
"This is wrong." Steve tells them.
"Are you sure?" Bruce shouts. "Maybe she's in your head, again?"
Wanda puts her hands up, "I know you're angry…"
"Oh, we're way past that." Bruce says.
Everyone's talking at once, arguing, and I stand there, not sure what to do. I've never been part of a team before, but shouldn't we be working together.
Pietro speeds around the room, destroying the equipment. "Go ahead. What were you saying?"
His gloating only lasts for a second before he falls through the floor thanks to Clint.
They start fighting and I stand back. I won't fight with my teammates, and I hope they realize soon that we need to work together.
With that thought, Thor burst in, hitting the cradle with his hammer. Lighting charges the machine and I turn away from the brightness.
When I turn back, a figure pops out. It sounds like Jarvis, so I ask, "Jarvis?"
He turns to me. "No. I'm not Jarvis." He turns to the others, "I'm not Ultron, either."
Wanda speaks, "I looked in your head and saw annihilation."
"Look again." Vision replies.
"Yeah. Her seal of approval means jack to me." Clint states.
I almost laughed, still feeling bitter about what she had done earlier, despite the save on the train.
There's more back and forth.
No one really trusts this new creature.
Not until he picks up the hammer, handing it to Thor. Apparently we can all trust Mjolnir's seal of approval.
"Well then," Steve says. "Three minutes. Then we go to Sokovia."
Elena's POV
I walk over to the weapons room. Due to the fact that we're fighting robots, I actually grab two guns. I strap one on my thigh and the other one, the larger one, behind my back. I grab a few other things, before turning around to head for the ship.
As I'm leaving the room, I run into Pietro and Wanda. Pietro speaks first, "Hey, we were just looking for you."
"Why?" I ask, wearily, unsure of them still.
"We wanted to apologize for before." Wanda says.
Pietro adds, "we thought we were doing what needed to be done."
I don't know what to say to that. I don't know if anyone's ever apologized to me before and I'm not sure how to respond.
"We understand if you don't forgive us… we just want to let you know we'll do what we can to make this right." Wanda finishes.
"I do forgive you both." I say. "We're on the same team know, and that's what matters. I got your backs. Plus, I meant what I said, everyone deserves a second chance."
I give them a small smile as I walk past them to the ship. That was fairly awkward, but it's true. I wanted them to join the team, to redeem themselves from Hydra, before they had joined Ultron, and, I guess, better late than never.
We load up on the Quinjet and make it to Sokovia quickly. Steve and Tony talk of the plan, getting people out of the way is the top priority, next to stopping each and every one of Ultron's robots.
When we have feet on the ground, I help the team get people going to safety.
The fight goes in almost a blur. I'm on autopilot as I blast robots out of the sky and on the ground and as a help people get to safety.
At first I'm over with Clint and Wanda. We're being quickly overwhelmed. Clint grabs Wanda and we head out of the way.
I'm still shooting robots from behind a wall as Clint tries to stop Wanda from having a meltdown. It was a good pep talk and soon he leaves her to join me in the fight.
We're still taking them out one by one, when Wanda comes out and blasts them all with her powers.
"Wow, that was nice." I say to her.
"Thanks." She nods to me and Clint.
Clint speaks into the Comm, "Alright, we're all clear here."
Steve voice comes back. "We are not clear!"
"Alright, coming to you." I say.
Pietro speeds in, picks up Wanda. He winks at me and shouts at Clint, "Keep up old man!" before speeding away.
Clint aims an arrow at Pietro, "Nobody would know."
I laugh and give him a pat on the back before heading back towards the action with Clint right behind me.
I meet up with Steve and the others quickly, just in time to see the cavalry arrive. Fury with the helicarriers would be a huge help.
Pietro looks up in awe, "This is SHIELD?"
"This is what SHIELD's supposed to be." Steve answers.
"This is not so bad." Pietro says.
"Told you so." I say with a smile.
I work to get as many people as possible on the boat. I teamed up with Steve to get the stragglers.
I hear the all-clear from Steve and I make one last sweep to double check. Then I head to the rescue ship, ready to heal anyone who needs it.
I'm getting on and I see Clint resting. It takes me a moment to register what's next to him. Pietro.
"Oh my god, what happened?"
Clint sat up. "He died a hero. He saved me and a little boy."
I knelt next to him, desperate to be of use. "I can do something. I can help him."
I put my hands on his chest, but Clint grabs them. "Elena, it's too late. He's dead."
"I—" I start.
"There are others here who need your help, people you can help."
I nod. He's gone.
I get up and start healing the passengers that need me.
