Prologue: My Life Story

It started out as a normal day.

I had woken up in my bed, and shortly afterward, went to work at a boring office job. I can't remember much of what went on, or even the company I worked for, but I think it was an uneventful day. At least, I think it was. All I remember from that shift was sitting in an office, staring at a computer and papers all day. If I try to remember any specifics, everything just seems… hazy.

The only thing that I can clearly remember, to this day, is the night after work. My lifelong friend, Max was over at my home. We were sitting on my bed, a drink in our hands as we talked.

My room was nothing special at the time. Just a white bed in the right-hand corner of the room, as bland as could be. In the left corner of the room was a desk, with my laptop resting on it. The desk had a few other smaller things on it. Pictures, trophies I had won as a kid, and a few Pokémon plushies. In front of the bed was a shelf, with various books and games I had collected all of my life. I remember Max and I were sitting at the foot of the bed, going through some of the items I had on my shelf.

"Heh, all these years, and you still keep these old games, huh?" He chuckled picking up a copy of one of my favorite games- Pokémon Silver. "I must've sold all of mine years ago. I can't find them for the life of me" He laughed, collapsing next to me on my bed. His words were starting to slur together, the couple bottles we had earlier were clearly starting to get to him.

"Hey, I still enjoy them." I said with a small huff, pouting at my friend. "They may still be kids games, but I know plenty of adults that still play these sorts of games" I pointed out to him, yanking the case out of his large hands

Max just laughed and shook his head at my protests. "Chill, I was just messing with ya, Sky." He said with a playful wink. "I still kinda enjoy those games too. At least, the ones I still have with me" He smirked, slipping off of my bed and walking over to my bedroom door.

"On that note, I should get going. Got work tomorrow, and my ride is waiting for me outside. See you around, Sky~" He said with a final wink, before disappearing behind the door as he closed it behind him.

That was the last time I saw him.

After Max left, I didn't do anything of note. I cleaned up the mess of bottles we had accumulated in my bedroom and kitchen, tossing them away in my recycle bin. After taking a quick shower, and brushing my teeth, I walked over to my bed to go to sleep.

I don't remember anything strange about that night. Aside from the alcohol I had with Max, I hadn't eaten or drank anything strange that day. Nothing was out of the ordinary, either. Everything seemed fine as I closed my eyes, and went to sleep.

And that's all I remember. Everything I can recall about my past life, and what I was like before I woke up the next day. My name, my friend Max, and that I worked at a boring office job at a nameless company. I remember being content with where I was at, and that I was sure that the next day wouldn't bring anything more exciting than a new stack of papers to work with at my job.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

Chapter One: Waking Up to a New Life

The feeling of something cold and wet running down my cheek was what woke me up that next day. I was laying on something, hard, damp, and cold. A far cry of what my bet was supposed to feel like.

My eyes fluttered open shortly afterward, blinking away the blurry and groggy feeling from a long night's sleep. Though, it didn't take long for me to fully be awake, after realizing that I was no longer in my room.

Instead, I was in a dark, damp cave, laying on the stone floor of the natural structure. The warm lighting of my room was replaced with a dimly lit cave, where I could barely make out the features of my surroundings. I was laying in a large, open area of the cave. Behind me was a small pond, with crystal blue water, and in front of me seemed to be a pathway, leading to an end that I couldn't make out in the dark lighting.

My eyes widened, and I jolted up to a sitting position, panic setting in. I had no idea where I was. The cave was completely foreign to me, with nothing standing out that could help me get an idea of where I was. I thought for sure, that I was kidnapped in my sleep, and I hadn't noticed during my slumber.

I frantically looked around, searching for anyone, anything that could explain what I was doing here. In my panic, I stood up, to get a bearing of my surroundings.

It was then, I noticed a feeling of something brushing against my legs. It felt soft, like a silky elegant fabric one would find on an ornate dress. Looking down, at myself, I realized I was wearing just that. A long, white gown covered my legs. The dress had multiple slits in it, showing off my legs a little as it waved slightly from my sudden jump to my feet.

But that wasn't the most striking thing about my appearance. Right in the center of my chest, as if I had been impaled, was a red spike. The thing was, I wasn't in any pain. I hadn't even noticed the spike through my chest, as if it was a part of my body. I gingerly prodded it with my finger, only to find a new discovery about my body.

My arms were now completely green. My hands weren't spared either, as the green tint reached from my shoulders, down to the tips of my fingers. I froze up, a sudden feeling of recognition washing over me as I examined my body.

"No…. I can't be…!" I whispered to myself, dashing over to the pond that was behind me. Getting onto my knees, I stared at my reflection in the water, praying to see my face staring back at me. Instead, I was greeted by a new, yet familiar face.

In the reflection from the water, was a gardevoir. She looked slightly different than any of the other gardevoir I had seen in the games I had played as a child. She had long, green hair that went down well past the spike on her chest. Her sharp red eyes were filled with a sense of panic and desperation, matching my own feelings. It didn't take long for me to figure out that the gardevoir staring back up at me, was none other than my reflection.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I just stared at my reflection, in complete disbelief.

"H-how…?" I muttered, my voice trembling from the rush of emotions hitting me all at once. I raised my now green hand to my cheek, still taking in my new appearance. I felt my cool hand brush against my face, just as the gardevoir touched her face. There was no denying it. I was now a gardevoir.

A small bubble of laughter rose up in my throat, as a soft giggle left my lips. "No… this has to be a dream, right?" I said, my nervous laughter echoing through the halls of the cave "Turning into a gardevoir… this couldn't be more than a dream. A lucid one, for sure" I said with a nod, getting to my feet.

"Then… all I need to do is imagine myself as something else, and everything will be normal again" I muttered, closing my eyes. "I… just need to play along with this dream, until I wake up for work" I said in a hushed voice.

With everything I could, I tried to imagine myself back in my bed, as a normal human again. I knew that after I woke up, I would just head back to work at my company, and then…..

My eyes shot back open, as I realized that I had no idea what company I worked for. Greeting me as I opened up my eyes, was the very same cold cave I woke up in. I was still a gardevoir, with no memory of how I got into this cave. In fact, I had no idea who I was.

I knew my name was Sky. And that I had met up with Max at my house after work. And then going to sleep for the night. Everything else, like the company I worked for, my other friends and family, and where I lived was all blank for me.

Tears started to well up in my eyes, as the panic returned. I was completely lost, in a cave, remembering nothing about myself, aside from my name.

Helplessness would be an understatement for what I felt then. I must've cried for at least an hour, or what felt like an hour. The reality of the situation was starting to settle in for me, and it hit me like a large bag of bricks.

Eventually, I calmed myself, wiping the tears off of my cheeks. I knew that if I sat here crying all day, I wouldn't get anywhere. I first needed to find my way out of this cave.

With a glance back at where I woke up from, I walked into the empty void in front of me. With nothing but the soft taps of my feet against the hard floor to accompany me through the dark halls of the cave.

One would expect an unknown cave to have multiple paths, branching out into several dead ends that would make it impossible to navigate through. But something about this cave was different. I just kept going on and on. A completely straight path forward, with no end in sight. It unnerved me, but I was thankful for the straightforward path ahead of me. At least I couldn't get lost if I just kept walking forward.

Just as I thought I was trapped in an endless tunnel stretching forward, I heard a voice. Not just one voice, but a pair, talking with each other. The first voice I heard was a deep gruff sounding voice, that was masculine. It would've sounded intimidating, had I not heard been in the situation I was in.

The other, was also a masculine-sounding voice, though it was a higher pitch than the first I heard. He sounded sly and cunning. Almost as if he was plotting something, or was up to no good.

"….was a relatively easy haul. Those fools never saw it coming" The gruff voice said with a grim chuckle

"Yes, and we got enough to last us for a lifetime~! We're gonna be rich~!" The sly and cunning voice said.

It was then, when I walked into a large open area of the cave, that I saw where, or rather, who the voices were coming from. In front of me was a zangooose and weavile pair, with several bags around them. The two had their backs turned towards me, their heads practically inside the bags they were carrying, searching through their items.

The zangoose matched his voice rather well. The normal type was tall and very strong-looking. His red and white fur rippled with the muscles hidden underneath, giving him an even more intimidating feeling than his voice already did.

The weavile beside him looked small in comparison. He was lean and somewhat skinny. He was around a foot shorter than the zangoose, and around 5' inches shorter than I was. His frame was slim, with some toned muscles visible under his dark fur.

I blinked in surprise at finding out where the voices were coming from. The shock of understanding what they were saying wasn't as great as finding out the sudden change in species for me. It did make sense that since I was now a pokémon, I would be able to understand them.

If I was in any other situation, I would've made sure to steer clear of these two shady figures. But I was too relieved to notice the red flags that signaled these two were trouble. I was just happy to find someone, anyone, to talk to.

I cleared my throat, getting their attention. The duo spun around to face me as if they were looking for a fight. The zangoose had his claws pointed at me, and the weavile seemed to be charging up an ice attack, preparing to fight if he needed to.

Their sudden moves startled me, causing me to take a step back and gasp in surprise. My heart raced, pounding against my chest, as I did my best to give them a small, friendly smile. "S-sorry…" I stuttered out, apologizing for scaring them. "I'm… lost. I have no idea where I am" I explained, taking another step forward. I opened my mouth to speak up again, but the zangoose sneered and spoke up before I could.

"Heh, what's a lass like yourself doing here? These caves are dangerous~" He said with a grin. Though, the grin was far from friendly. The pair was looking at me as if they had caught another prize.

"A gardevoir roaming around a cave like this? That's strange indeed" The weavile smirked, placing a paw to his chin as he looked at me. His eyes darted up and down, checking me out. "Quite a pretty little thing too~ You got a name, doll?"

A sinking feeling started to set in my stomach. The two were looking at me, licking their lips as if they had found their next meal. The zangoose drew closer, now only a few feet away from me.

"S-stay back!" I shouted, raising one of my arms. My whole body was trembling in fear, as the two male pokemon got closer to me. I'm not quite sure why I raised my arm. Maybe I had thought I could push the two back? Or maybe I was trying to attack them, to defend myself. Regardless, the raise of my arm did little to deter the encroaching pair.

"Why don't you come with us, babe~?" The zangoose catcalled, his grin showing off the rows of sharp teeth he had "We'll show you a way out…. And a good time~"

That definitely wasn't going to happen. Not with these two creeps. I took another step back, only to be met with my back against the wall. I was now trapped between the hard rock behind me, and the two creeps in front of me.

Panicking, I closed my eyes and tried to think of something. Surely, as a pokémon, I should be able to use an attack against these two. The thing is, I had no idea how. I just did the first thing that came to mind: try to do an attack of some sort. I focused all of my energy into the palm of my outstretched hand, trying to form some sort of attack.

I was only met with laughter from the two. If I had conjured up an attack, it probably wasn't anything too intimidating.

"You think that small pebble of a moonblast is gonna hurt us?" The weavile cackled "You're adorable~"

I peeked my eyes open, to see that in my hand, was a pink ball of energy. It looked similar to a moonblast attack though not nearly as powerful. It really was the size of a pebble, though it was slowly growing larger over time.

With nothing else better to do, I threw the attack at the weavile, hoping that something, anything would happen. And something did. The weavile took one look at the ball of energy heading towards him and batted it away harmlessly with his claw.

"Pathetic" He growled, the smirk still present on his face. "Told you that wasn't gonna get you anywhere, babe. Now you just made this a whole lot harder on yourself~"

The two stepped closer, now only around three feet away from me. With my back pressed against the wall, and with no other options, I did the only thing I knew I could do.

I closed my eyes again, my arms close to my chest, and let out a terrified shriek "Somebody!" I called out "Please, someone help me!' I cried out, in both fear and desperation.

"Heh, that won't do you any good here, girl" I heard the zangoose say behind my closed eyes "You really think someone is going to-"

His words were suddenly cut off with the sound of footsteps racing towards us. I didn't dare open my eyes. I was too scared to do so at the time. But I heard those footsteps run closer to us, followed by the sound of the two men in front of me crying out in pain. The sound of a fight echoed in the dark room of the cave, as whoever came into the cave started to take out the perverted thieves that were harassing me just moments ago.

It wasn't until I heard the soft thump of two bodies hitting the rock floor, that I decided to open my eyes. What I saw next made me cover my mouth with my hand in shock.

The weavile and zangoose that were cornering me were now sprawled out on the floor, looking pretty beaten up. They were both unconscious, with soft groans coming through their gaping mouths. In between the two bodies, was alone Lucario, with his back turned to me. I hardly had a chance to speak up, when he turned around and gave me a warm, friendly smile.

"Are you alright, ma'am?"
