I greatly appreciate the response I've gotten so far! Please, give me as many plot ideas and word prompts as you like.

Also, congratulations TalosLives! Not only am I going to use one of your ideas, but I'm also going to incorporate one of your scenarios into another one of my prompts! Thanks for the suggestions.

Jackal-Rabbit Drabbles

Drabble Pack 3!

12. Nicknames

"C'mon, Luc*! Try a Lava Cookie!" Cinderace urged eagerly, holding the baked good up to Lucario's muzzle. [* pronounced like "Luke" /luːk/]

Lucario pushed Cinderace's arm away and grumbled, "For the hundredth time, I'm not hungry right-." Lucario froze mid sentence, then he slowly turned to look at the rabbit and said sternly, "What did you just call me?"

Cinderace grinned and said, "It's a nickname! I thought it up just for you! It's short and sharp and sounds cool. It fits you perfectly, Luc!"

Lucario scowled and gave his most dangerous, angriest look and said darkly, "Don't. Call me that. Ever."

Cinderace's smile fell, and he actually backed away as he said, "Uhm. It's just a nickname. I mean, you can call me 'Ace' if you want to."

Lucario kept up his angry glare for a bit, only for the glare to break and shift to into a smirk. "Or. . ." he said quietly, "I could just call you Bigfoot."

Cinderace's ears hung low at this, and he sighed sadly. Then he looked at the Lava Cookie in his hand and smiled, "Well, more cookie for me!"

As Lucario watched Cinderace shove the Lava Cookie into his mouth like a hamster and walk away, he shook his head and muttered, "'Ace'. . .hmph. . yeah right. . . more like 'Joker.'"

13. Death (featuring TalosLives)

Lucario launched another Aura Sphere at a distant tree, and smiled when it hit. "Good. Right on target. Glad to see my aim is still good," Lucario thought to himself, "Let's try it from further back."

Lucario took several steps back, then got into proper position to charge up yet another Aura Sphere. He had charged up the attack and was about to launch when a voice suddenly cried out to him.

"STOOOOOOOP!"

Lucario was bowled over, and the Aura Sphere was sent flying up into the air and detonated harmlessly. Lucario quickly realized that it was Cinderace that had knocked him over, and he snarled and pushed the rabbit off of him.

"Get off me, you idiot!" Lucario shouted as he sat up and glared at the rabbit sprawled out on the ground in front of him, "What did you do that for!?"

Cinderace got into a seated position himself and looked at Lucario with a look of utter desperation, "You need to stop using your Aura and throwing it around so much!"

"You're not the boss of me! What's it to you if I practice aiming my Aura Spheres!?" Lucario shouted back.

"You could die, Lucario!" Cinderace exclaimed, his eyes actually starting to tear up.

Lucario balked at that, his mouth hanging open at the proclamation. "Wh-what? What are you talking about, Cinderace," he asked in a calmed tone.

"Don't you remember that story that Ash told us?" Cinderace asked, "The one about Sir Aaron's Lucario?"

Lucario did indeed remember that story. Goh's original goal was to catch Mew, and that added to their encounter and subsequent battle with Mew's clone not to long ago would naturally lead Ash to bring up the other times he and Pikachu had encountered the most elusive of all Legendary Pokemon. Ash's adventure at the Tree of Beginning, a tale that Pikachu referred to as Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, was quite the harrowing and bittersweet tale. It already had a sad beginning, with Sir Aaron's Lucario being sealed away in a staff for hundreds of years. Then there was the moment where Ash and the accompanying humans were all nearly devoured by the Tree of Beginnings defenses. And of course, there was the heartbreaking conclusion of Sir Aaron's Lucario giving up all his Aura in order to save Mew and the Tree of Beginning, sacrificing his life just as Sir Aaron had down hundreds of years before. It had left quite the impression on the gang, even causing Goh to make a vow to not make the same mistakes Kidd Summer had made in her misguided attempts to track down Mew.

And now, it appeared Cinderace had been profoundly affected by the tale as well, as he sat in front of Lucario and on the verge of tears, his mind overcome with worry.

"If you use too much Aura. . .if you run out of it. . .You'd. . .You'll. .. I don't want you to die, Lucario," Cinderace whimpered, "You're my friend, and I really like you a lot. Even when you get mad at me. I like battling by your side. And I just. . .think you're cool and stuff. . .and. . ." Cinderace just tailed off miserably, unable to form any more words.

Lucario sighed and looked his friend dead in the eye and said, "Cinderace. . . . using Aura Sphere and my other Aura senses won't kill me. It doesn't work like that. Sir Aaron's Lucario. . .died because he gave up all of his Aura. He gave everything he had in order to save Mew and the Tree. He did it on purpose because he knew it was the only way. I have more than enough Aura, and I can't even think of a situation that would cause me to have to use it all up other than a Tree of Beginning type situation. So please don't worry about it, because I am in absolutely no danger of running out of Aura and dying."

Cinderace perked up slightly at this. He blinked the tears out of his eyes and asked, "You swear?"

"I swear in the name of Sir Aaron," Lucario said with a smile.

Cinderace let out a sigh of relief, "That's good."

Lucario nodded slowly, frowning as dark thoughts began to grow in his own head.

Cinderace noticed Lucario's somber disposition and said quickly, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you sad or mad. I was stupid and-."

"No, no, no, it's not you. It's. . ." Lucario spoke quickly, but trailed off. He considered keeping it to himself, and yet Cinderace's words from earlier had touched him a great deal more than he would have ever expected. The rabbit had shared some of his innermost fears and feelings with him, the least he could do was return the favor.

". . .knowing that Ash almost died in that Tree, it scares me," Lucario admitted as he hung his head low, "Even worse is that. . .when I look closer into his Aura. . .I get the sense that he's had near-death experiences many times before. . .too many times. I even asked Pikachu about it to make sure, and he proved it when he kept dodging the question. Then it got me thinking about that battle we had against Eternatus. If things had gone wrong, that monster could have easily. . .k-killed Ash. . . or Goh, or both of them, or all of us. Even just thinking about it. . . losing Ash. . . I just. . ."

Lucario suddenly felt very cold, and he shut his eyes tightly and said, "I wouldn't know what to do. . .or where to go. . . It was Ash's Aura that gave me to will to even hatch out of my egg in the first place. Without Ash. . .I'd be nothing. I'd have nothing."

Then, Lucario suddenly felt very warm.

Lucario opened his eyes and realized that he was being hugged by Cinderace. Strangely enough, he didn't mind it all that much.

"You're not nothing. And if anything. . . bad happened, you'd have the rest of Ash's team," Cinderace said gently, albeit still with a happy eagerness in his tone, "And you'd have me."

Lucario just sat silently within Cinderace's hug. He didn't hug back, but he didn't move to break free either. Eventually, it was Cinderace who ended the hug, and he crawled backwards so that they were face to face. Then the bunny said, "Look, Ash is a really strong and quick human, just like Goh. Nothing's gonna happen to them. Not no way, not no how. But if you're still worried about it, then how about this. If something ever happens to Ash, which it won't, but if in some crazy impossible way something does happen to him, then I'll tell Goh to take you in."

Then, in the blink of an eye, Cinderace became dead serious with a serious frown and a seriously furrowed brow, "And if he doesn't take you in, then I'll leave him and we can travel together by ourselves."

Lucario's eyes widened in disbelief. The idea that Cinderace would even joke about leaving Goh seemed utterly impossible until right then and there, and yet Lucario couldn't deny what his own ears were telling him.

But then, in another blink of an eye, Cinderace was back to his normal, happy, smiling demeanor and said, "But that's silly. Of course Goh would take you in! But that's silly too! Because nothing's gonna happen to Ash! Okay?"

Lucario took a moment to digest everything Cinderace had said, then he smiled and said, "Fair enough. But everything you said about what you'd do if something happens to Ash? The same thing applies to what I'd do if something happens to Goh. You've been a good friend to me, and that means a lot. If you've got my back, then I've got yours."

Cinderace's eyes once again welled up with tears, only this time they were tears of joy. He once again leaned in to catch Lucario in another hug. Lucario felt awkward this time, having spilled his guts and gone into such a vulnerable state was not something he was comfortable. He sighed and patted Cinderace gently on back, and he said, "Alright, that's enough. We'd better break it up before-."

"HUGS!?"

Lucario's and Cinderace's eyes widened in terror, and they turned to see Ash's Dragonite flying right towards them with a smile and arms wide open.

"Not again!" the pair shouted as they were caught in one of Dragonite's trademark bone crushing hugs.

14. Poke

Cinderace was relaxing beneath a tree, which was a rare occurrence for the normally hyperactive rabbit. He had his legs stretched out in front of him, and he lifted his gaze to find Lucario standing nearby. The jackal was staring at him, or to be more precise, a specific part of him.

"My face is up here, ya know," Cinderace remarked.

Lucario blinked, and his eyes snapped back up to look at acknowledge Cinderace properly and said, "Sorry. It's just. . ." Lucario then resumed staring at the rabbits foot pads and said, ". . .so, all that fire. . .comes from those three dots on your feet?"

" . . .yeah," Cinderace replied as if it was the most obvious thing ever.

Lucario blinked again, and he thought on this fact. It did make sense upon further thought. He channeled his Aura through his paws, although Aura did flow through his entire body. It made sense for Cinderace inner fire to work in a similar way.

". . .Wanna touch them?" Cinderace asked casually.

Lucario shot Cinderace a surprised look, then frowned and said, "I'd rather not be kicked in the face."

Cinderace cocked his head and asked, "Why would I kick you?"

Lucario briefly relieved a certain night of snores and tickling in his mind, but then let it go and said, "Promise?"

Cindreace smiled and held up a paw, "I promise I won't kick you."

". . .Okay," Lucario said calmly, and he slowly approached Cinderace, kneeling down in front of his feet. Carefully, Lucario poked each of the yellow dots. Thankfully, Cinderace did not kick out at him. Lucario took a quick look up at the rabbit, and he was still smiling and relaxing against the tree.

Lucario gave the spots a few more pokes and said, "They don't feel hot."

"Alright, gimme a minute," Cinderace said with a smile, and he focused on his inner fire, causing the dots on his feet to glow slightly. "There. Try it now," he said proudly.

Lucario looked curiously, briefly using his Aura powers to see the fire move through Cinderace's body. Then he stretched out his right paw and poked the largest spot.

Cinderace lurched back in shock when Lucario suddenly cried out in pain, clutching his paw and shouting as he crawled backwards away from the rabbit.

"ARRRGH! IT BURNT ME! YOU BURNT MY PAW!" Lucario roared out in pain.

As Lucario shut his eyes and turned away, Cinderace worked himself up into a tizzy and shouted, "Ohmigosh, ohmigosh, ohmigosh! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean, I thought, I just, it wasn't, I didn't use that much, I'm sorry, I'm sorry-."

"HA!" Lucario laughed as he turned back to face Cinderace again, smiling and pointing at him with his paw, which was perfectly fine, "This time, I got you!"

Cinderace's jaw dropped, and he just stared for a moment. Then he frowned and said, "Alright. Then I guess now it's my turn to chase you down. . ." Then he smiled mischievously and said, "And you know that I'm faster than you are."

Lucario suddenly realized that he might have made a mistake.

15. Partners (TalosLives)

Absol was knocked out by a well placed Pyro Ball from Cinderace, leaving Gliscor all alone against Lucario. Gliscor dived at Lucario using X-Scissor, only for to pass right through the Double Team illusion. This allowed the real Lucario to land an Aura Sphere on Gliscor, knocking him back onto the other side of the field.

As Absol's trainer recalled her fallen partner into her Pokeball, Gliscor's trainer took a look at his exhausted Ground/Flying type and frowned. "That's enough, Glisocr. The battle's over. We've met our match."

Gliscor was exhausted and couldn't go on much longer, but at the sound of his trainer's voice, he suddenly became very much aware and turned around to give the human a look of utter disbelief.

"Let it go, Gliscor. We'll do better next time," the trainer said.

Absol's trainer frowned, and she said, "Oh boy, here comes Gliscor the sore loser. Again."

The male trainer shot the girl an irritated look, then he turned to Ash, Goh, and their Pokemon and said with a smile, "Great job, you two! You and your Pokemon make an unbeatable team!"

As the humans smiled and gave their thanks, Cinderace and Lucario turned towards each other. This was very tough battle for everyone involved. Both of them were pretty beat-up and exhausted from their double battle against Absol and Gliscor. Cinderace was slumping slightly and his arms were hanging from his shoulders due to his inability to hold them, and Lucario was on his last legs, which were wobbling a great deal. Nevertheless, the pair smiled and nodded at each other before turning to go back to their trainers.

Meanwhile, Gliscor stared hatefully into Lucario's back. The fact that he was bested by this Pokemon so badly that his trainer wouldn't even let him finish the fight enraged him in a way he didn't think was possible.

"How DARE he!" Gliscor thought angrily. And it was at that moment that Gliscor decided that he would not lose today. He make that Lucario pay for humiliating him like this in a way that he would never forget.

Drawing strength from his anger and hatred, Gliscor suddenly leapt forward at Lucario while his back was turned, clearing the distance swiftly in an incredible feat of speed. Gliscor's claws glowed with blue energy as he roared out, "GUILLOTINE!"

Due to his exhaustion, and the belief that the battle was officially over, Lucario did not sense Gliscor's cowardly assault until it was too late. The attack connected with a sickening slash and crack just as Lucario turned around.

It was a terrible sight to all who saw it.

"CINDERACE!" Goh exclaimed in horror.

Lucario's eyes were wide and his mouth hung open as he beheld the aftermath of an exhausted Cinderace being slammed down into the ground hard with one of Gliscor's claws around his neck and the other around his legs. Cinderace's weakened state, combined with Gliscor's hate fueled savergery, caused clear and obvious wounds and injuries that were already apparent on the rabbit's body.

Gliscor immediately let go upon noticing that he hadn't landed the hit on his desired target. He then slowly looked up at the still standing Lucario, confused by the fact that he had somehow been cheated out of his revenge.

Lucario just stared blankly at Gliscor for a moment, then he looked down at Cinderace's limp form, then back at Gliscor. Lucario face twisted into an enraged snarl as he said, "You. . .you . . .YOU!"

Lucario's body then became outlined in an orange and white glow as he used Reversal, and with a vicious snarl he punched Gliscord in the face with all the strength he could muster.

One of Gliscor's fangs went flying.

Gliscor made a skid mark on the ground from the force of Lucario's punch, but before he could even register the first hit, Lucario was already on top of him and began using Reversal over and over and over, raining down relentless punches on the Fang Scorpion Pokemon. Lucario let out a vengeful roar with every single punch, his weakened state greatly empowering his strikes through Reversal. Lucario was possessed by a single minded desire to pulverise every single inch of his enemy's body. Voices were calling out to him, but Lucario didn't care. All he wanted to do was hurt the one who had hurt his friend and partner.

"I'll knock out every one of his teeth! I'll rip his wings off! I'll crush the end of his tail with my bare paws! I'll-!"

Then an arm wrapped tightly around Lucario' torso and pulled, and this time the voice came in loud and clear.

"LUCARIO, STOOOOOP!"

Ash's command finally came through, and Lucario snapped back to reality. He looked down and saw a trembling, badly battered and bruised Gliscor below him. He looked up and saw Gliscor's trainer looking horrified, and Absol's trainer looking mortified.

Lucario then turned his head to see that Ash was holding him tightly, a serious let concerned look on his face. Lucario felt shame flow through him as he realized how he had lost control and made Ash look bad. However, he then heard another desperate voice from behind them.

"Cinderace? Cinderace! Cinderace, wake up! Please!" cired Goh in desperation.

Lucario resisted the urge to snarl, and his shame was replaced with the feeling of being fully justified in his actions.

"Alright, alright, I've seen enough!" came the commanding voice of an Officer Jenny.

Those that were still conscious turned to see the law woman approach.

Gliscor's trainer pointed an accusing finger at Lucario and said, "Officer Jenny! That Lucario's crazy! It just-."

"Don't give me that! I saw what happened!" Officer Jenny interrupted sharply, "Your Gliscor tried to land a dangerous attack on that weakened Lucario while its back was turned, and ended up badly injuring what must have been a very close friend of his. Maybe you're both at fault, or maybe it's just you who's at fault for allowing your Gliscor to instigate this. But we can figure that out later. Right now, we need to get these two Pokemon to the nearest Pokemon Center for some immediate medical attention. Now!"

Everyone immediately obeyed Officer Jenny's orders, and the two Pokemon were swiftly put under the care of Nurse Joy and her staff of healing Pokemon. It turned out that Gliscor's injuries, while serious due to Lucario's ruthless assault, would heal relatively quickly provided he didn't battle for a while. Cinderace was in a similar position, although special focus needed to be given to his neck and legs due to Gliscor's Guillotine attack.

When Pikachu saw the rabbit lying on the hospital bed with braces around his neck and legs, he felt compelled to mention how it reminded him of the injuries he received from the point-plank Hyper Beam from Sho's Raichu in Sinnoh. Quite frankly, Lucario didn't give a Wormadam about what Pikachu had to say as he sat at Cinderace's bedside next to an equally distressed Goh and an utterly broken Drizzile. The Water-type appeared almost catatonic as he beheld his older brother figure in such an awful state.

Officer Jenny cleared Ash and Lucario of any wrong doings, and Gliscor's trainer did apologize. Once again, Lucario didn't give a Hoothoot and refused to even acknowledge the other trainer.

It went without saying that Goh and Drizzile wasn't going to leave Cinderace's side, and it was only natural for Lucario to do the same. Therefore, Ash and Pikachu wholeheartedly joined in on their vigil.

Night eventually fell, and Ash and Pikachu were the first to fall asleep. Goh tried his best to stay awake, but inevitably drifted off to sleep as well. Drizzile silently shed tears throughout the night, until he eventually cried himself to the point of exhaustion and slipped into slumber.

Lucario was the only one left awake as the clock struck 1 A.M., with one thought preventing him from getting any sleep.

"He took the hit for me. He sacrificed himself to save me. After all those times been so mean to him. . ."

Lucario reached out and took Cinderace's paw in his own.

"He such a loyal Pokemon. To all of his friends. He's so kind and innocent and well-meaning. . ." Lucario thought, which then caused some less than happy memories to resurface in his mind.

"Quit the back-slaps, you clown!"

"My face. . . Leave me alone!"

"You got food on my face again! I'll tear you apart!"

"Why can't you do it the normal way?!"

"I'M GONNA KILL YOU!"

"This clown is not a part of Ash's Team!

"Don't. Call me that. Ever."

'Ace'. . .hmph. . yeah right. . . more like 'Joker.'"

"Get off me, you idiot!"

"He's been a much better friend to me than I have, for certain," Lucario thought guiltily.

Lucario held Cinderace's paw tightly and said in a soft voice, "Cinderace. . .please wake up. Goh needs you. Drizzile needs you. . ."

Lucario hung his head and shed hot tears of shame. "I need you," he admitted, "I'm not worth you suffering like this. Please wake up. Please. . .come back to us. Come back to me, Ace."

. . .

. . .

. . . . . . .

". . . Ace?"

Lucario's head shot up and he saw that Cinderace's eyes were open. The rabbit couldn't move his head much due to the neck brace he was wearing, but he was still looking right at Lucario through slightly sleepy eyes.

"Did you just call me. . . Ace?" the rabbit asked in amazement.

Lucario smiled warmly, tears of joy replacing his tears of shame as he nodded and said, "Yes. Yes I did. And you can call me 'Luc' if you still want to."

A delight smile spread across Ace's face, but then he winced in pain and said, "Owww. . .I feel like rubbish."

Lucario felt his guilt return, and he said, "I won't insult you or disgrace you act of heroism by saying that you shouldn't have done it. . . Instead, let me say that I will never forget what you've done for me, and I'll be eternally grateful for it."

Ace continued to smile and said, "You were my battle partner, and more importantly: my friend. And I know you'd the same for me."

Lucario nodded and said, "Yes. I believe I would. I would never stand idly by and let someone I care about be hurt."

Ace's smile got bigger and he said, "You really do care about me . . .Cool."

Lucario tightened his grip on Ace's paw as the two smiled at each other. And then, Lucario suddenly felt something arise from inside him. It was almost like an instinct, something he could not nor did he want to stop. Lucario closed his eyes and let his Aura flow, and it move through his body and through his arms, through his paw and in through the smaller white rabbit's paw he was holding.

For a solid minute, Lucario's Aura cycled through the Cinderace's body, and as quick as it began, it was over.

Lucario opened his eyes and stared into Ace's eyes, which were wide with wonder and far more alert than they were a moment ago.

Ace blinked owlishly and said, "Woah. . . that felt awesome. And the pain is all gone. What'd you do?"

Lucario wasn't exactly sure himself, as he was acting entirely through some kind of instinct. However, after going though it in his mind, Lucario answered, "I shared a tiny bit of my Aura with you."

Ace's eyes widened with panic as he recalled what happened to Sir Aaron's Lucario.

Lucario quickly assuaged Ace's fears by saying quickly, "I only used a tiny bit. I'd never even notice it unless I fully drained by own Aura, which I don't see happening any time soon unless we fought Arceus or had to resurrect Mew and his Tree or something. But anyway, It'll help you heal faster, and maybe make the parts where that pathetic coward. . .where Gliscor hit you with Guillotine become even stronger than they were before."

Lucario then smiled knowingly and shook a paw at Ace as he continued, "But that doesn't mean that now you can be reckless and take any unnecessary risks, you silly rabbit."

If the "silly rabbit" remark bothered Ace, he didn't show it. Instead, his worries faded away and he said with a smile of the purest, most innocent of joy and said, "Luc. . . thank you. I already love Drizzile like a little brother, but now I really love you like a big brother. Thank you so much."

Lucario blushed, but accepted it and said in return, "Thank you. . . I love you, Ace."

"I love you too, Luc."

Yes, I will be keeping the nicknames throughout this series. But here's how I'll be using them:

When a drabble is primarily from Lucario's perspective, I'll use "Ace" more and only use "Luc" when Cinderace is using it.

When a drabble is primarily from Cinderace' perspective, I'll use "Luc" and "Ace" frequently and equally.

When a drabble is from a third character's POV, then the nicknames will be used only by Cinderace and Lucario.

When a drabble from a general Third Person Perspective, I'll use the nicknames freely.

And remember, "Luc" is pronounced like "Luke".

Thanks again TalosLives for the ideas. Please suggest more if you'd like. Anyone can suggest as many prompts and ideas as they'd like!

But I have a question: should I bump up the rating from K+ to T because of the content of this particular pack? Please let me know if I should, because more serious drabbles are surely yet to come. But don't worry! Plenty of comedic and fluffy drabbles will be coming as well!
