Wander and Sylvia sat on a hilltop, overlooking a newly rebuilt city on one of the many revitalized planets. Meanwhile, parked in orbit above them was the pair's very own starship. The magnificent, fantastical, orbble juice powered, nautical themed Star Nomad was many things: a means of transport for the multitude of fugitives to get from the formerly Secret Planet to their newly restored home planets, a base of operations for the traveling pair, not to mention a proper reward for the only two creatures brave enough to stand up to the former Lord Dominator and spur the rest of the galaxy into action.

At this particular moment, the two were simply relaxing on the hilltop. Wander had taken his banjo out and was strumming it as he sang a little tune.

"There's lots to do, there's so much to see

Here in the galaxy, if you just stick with me

But watch out for Lord Hater, if you do not mind

I'm dedicated to teachin' him how to be kind"

Sylvia smiled and said, "Heh. You know what, buddy? I'm starting to actually believe that you could change him."

Wander hugged the Zbornak and said cheerfully, "That we can change him."

Sylvia hugged him back, and the pair sat comfortably like this for a moment. However, Wander's eyes widened and he sat up like a bird dog on the alert.

"Ya hear that, Sylv?" Wander said urgently.

"What?" Sylvia questioned.

"Someone's crying!" Wander said with great concern, then he turned around and pointed into the dense woods behind the hill they were sitting on, "In there! Someone needs help!"

Sylvia got up and jumped in front of Wander, "Say no more, hop on and point the way!"

And the pair were off, running straight into the new forest as Wander's inexplicably keen sense of hearing when someone in need of help was involved led the way. Before long, Sylvia could hear the terrified weeping as well.

"In there!" Wander shouted, pointing into a dark cave.

Sylvia slid to a halt and said, "Ooh boy. It sounds like crying but it smells like a trap. We better be smart about this- of course he's running right in!"

"It'll be okay!" Wander called out into the cave in a kind, singsong voice, "I'll be right there!"

Sylvia followed closely behind her friend, and they turned a rather sharp corner within the cavern that led into a darker, nearly pitch black alcove. They could both just make out a figure slumped against the cavern wall.

Wander reached into his hat and pulled out a lantern. He set it on the ground and turned it on, illuminating the cavern. "Alright, here we are," Wander said as he adjusted the light level by turning the knob, he then lifted his head to look up at the sobbing figure, saying, "Okay, now let's get down to business. We're here to-."

Wander's eyes widened.

Sylvia's jaw dropped.

The figure lifted her head to look at the new arrivals, and she revealed herself to be a badly beaten a bruised, swollen lipped, double black eyed, bloody nosed, trembling Dominator.

The Vengeance

Dominator had a large metal band fastened around her midsection and arms, held closed by a large padlock. The band had a chain attached to the back of it, which was in turn fastened to a large fetter imbedded into the cavern wall behind her. She was clearly not going anywhere at the moment. Dominator's fearful, shrunken eyes immediately zeroed in on Wander. However, she then noticed Sylvia standing not too far behind him. A look of euphoric relief seemed to come over the beaten villain as she beheld the Zbornak, and she smiled widely in spite of her swollen upper lip and many missing teeth.

"See!" she cried out desperately, "I didn't kill her! She's right there! There she is! Your best friend! I wasn't actually gonna go through with it anyway! It was all just a joke! Like the ice sculpture!" Dominator forced out a laugh that oozed terror, and she nodded repeatedly as she continued to ramble, "So you don't have keep doing this! You can let me go, I'll leave, and we never have to see each other again! I can't do anything anymore! I'm powerless now! I can disappear. . .I can. . .I can. . ."

Sylvia was dumbfounded by this unbelievable sight. She couldn't believe that this was the same Dominator that had tormented them for an entire season. . .of their lives. Where once she saw a horrible, psychotic, irredeemable monster; there was now a broken, pathetic little teenage girl.

Wander, meanwhile, was overcome with sympathy for the clearly injured villain, and he stepped forward, "What are you talking about, Dominator? I'm-."

Dominator's swollen eyes lost their euphoria and widened in fear. A mixture of blood and snot dripped from her nose as she shrank back from Wander and pleaded, "Puh-puh-please! Please, don't kill me! Please! Please!"

Wander could only stand and watch in utter confusion as Dominator hung her head and cried on the spot. He looked around aimlessly a bit, then he slowly approached the trembling villain and said, "Dominator, why are saying this? I'd never hurt you. I'd never hurt anyone. How did you get here? Who did this to-."

Sylvia's tail suddenly shot out and muffled Wander, silencing him. He turned to Sylvia, who shushed him and motioned back towards the cavern entrance. Sure enough, a new sound could be heard. It was the sound of a banjo being played. What's more, a very familiar, gravely voice could be heard singing.

"You know, I've been thinking

About you and me

Was this preordained?

Was this meant to be?

Somewhere deep down, I

Thought that you could change

Fighting means nothing

But I'll fight anyway"

In addition to the familiar voice, a very familiar shadow was cast on the wall facing the mouth of the cavern.

"There's not a bit of good inside

You followed the path of genocide

You're gonna have a bad time

I'm sending you straight to-"

The new arrival turned the corner, and he abruptly stopped playing his banjo, ending on a sour note. He was Wander's doppelganger in every sense of the word. His fur, his hat, his banjo, everything was the same. There were a few differences though. For one thing, he was in Wander's vigilante superhero persona from the Dr. Screwball Jones incident. His hat pulled down over his face, with eyes in the brim; along with the light blue cape. Then there were the eyes themselves. They were the same shape, size, and color; but there was something different about them. It was as if they had seen things not meant to be seen, and a lot of those things too.

The second Wander stared at the three of them. Dominator had finally stopped crying, and was looking between the two Wanders, trying her best to understand this new development.

"Well, grop," the doppelganger said in that deeper superhero voice as he shoved his banjo back into his hat, "I hate it when this happens." He then pulled out a day planner and pen out of his hat and began to make notes in it, "Let's see. This makes the 91st time I've met a Wander, and the 38th time I've met a . . .Sylvia. . .huh. Still hurts. Guess it always will."

"Who the flarp are you!?" Sylvia damned furiously.

The doppelganger put away the book and pen, and he said with a smile, "It's me, Sylv. Your best friend-."

"Save it you imposter!" Sylvia shouted angrily, and she gestured to the beaten up Dominator and said, "Are you the one who turned Dominator into that blubbering mess back there? 'Cause you got a lot of nerve pretending to be my buddy, ruining his good name, while you did it!"

"Of course I did it, and I'm not pretending to be anyone," the mysterious double said with a shrug.

Wander looked between the broken Dominator and his smiling twin. "But. . .why would you do that to her? She's already suffered enough, she has no army, no ship. She was in the perfect place to become a new friend, but now. . . just look at her! You hurt her. . .bad! Why? And how come you look like me?"

"'Cause I am you, of course," the other said in classic cheerful demeanor, then he became rather downcast and said, "Just from a different universe."

Sylvia frowned and demanded curtly, "Quit being so cryptic and explain."

"You want details? I'll give em to ya," the vigilante said calmly, still in his super serious "Picture a tree. It all starts at one single trunk, and then it grows branches. Each branch is a universe, and the tree is what we call the Multiverse. Only the Multiverse has infinite branches, because each branch is caused by decisions and choices and random stuff that happens. Like, there's one universe where you had toast for breakfast, another where you had cereal, another where you skipped breakfast, and it just goes on like that forever. For every single choice, big or small. Every single possibility that could possibly happen has its very own universe, each one different, but some way more different than others. For instance, in my universe. . ."

The dark Star Nomad slowly pointed a finger at Sylvia and said coldy, ". . You're dead."

His lower body completely frozen, Wander could only look on in horror at what was being displayed on screen above Lord Dominator's control panel. Sylvia was held down on the ground by Lord Dominator's robots, directly in the path of the planet killing drill.

"PLEASE! PLEASE DON'T DO IT! I'LL DO ANYTHING! JUST LET HER GO!" Wander wailed.

Lord Dominator just laughed and said mockingly, "'Waaaaah! I'll do anything, just let her go!' How about you just stand there and watch the Zbornak die the most painful death possible before having a very entertaining mental breakdown, okay? Okay. Good. Here we go!"

As Lord Dominator grabbed the lever, Wander tearfully turned away and shut his eyes tight. But then, he felt the metallic claws of Dominator's robots grab his head and pull open his eyelids, forcing him to watch as the massive drill came down and utterly obliterated Sylvia's body, set to a soundtrack of Lord Dominator's maniacal laughter.

The traveler from another universe took in the reactions of the three before him. Sylvia looked properly horrified, and Dominator looked properly pissed off. Wander, however, just looked. . .saddened. . .sympathetic even.

"Well, gosh. . ." Wander finally said, "Other me. . .I'm so sorry that happened to-."

"You can't say anything. You don't know how it feels, and you never will," the vigilante said dismissively, both his fists clenched, "You have no idea what that did to me. . . how it awoke something inside me. . .something. . .primal."

Lord Dominator's laughter was interrupted by a shattering sound mixed with several loud explosions. She turned to see, much to her surprise, that not only was Wander free from the ice, but the two robots that had been holding his head were now cracked open like a pair of eggs. What's more, Wander had his hat pulled over his face, his eyes visible through a pair of eye holes in the brim, a blue cape, and a banjo in his hands. He was staring up at her, a uncharacteristically dark and serious look in his eyes.

Lord Dominator's surprise quickly faded, and she pointed at him and laughed a bit before saying, "Oh no! Whatever will I do now? It's 'Super Wonder' to come save the day! Ah-ha-ha-."

Her laughter was suddenly cut off by a loud strum of Wander's banjo, accompanied by a loud laser blast that shot out from Wander's banjo and struck Dominator's outstretched arm. The attack knocked her to the ground hard, and she laid there in shock for about a two seconds before scowling and sitting up quickly. Glaring at the now hot eyed Star Nomad, Dominator put all her rage in raising her right arm to burn Wander's face off.

Nothing happened.

Dominator's head quickly turned to look at her right arm, which was hanging limply at her side. No matter how hard she tried, no matter how much she willed it to move, the arm did nothing.

Dominator's rage burned even hotter as she turned back towards Wander and screamed, "YOU BROKE MY AR-!?"

Another lazer blast from Wander's banjo struck her in the face, knocking her helmet off and throwing her across the room. She recovered quickly and screamed, "BOTS! KILL HIM!"

Several bots leapt at Wander, but were quickly taken out by blasts from Wander's banjo. He then deftly pointed the banjo at Dominator's left arm, blasting it right before she could attack first. A loud snap and a scream indicated that her left arm was not only broken, but dislocated right out of its socket as well.

Dominator stumbled backwards, but barely had time to react as Wander zipped over to her and began slamming her with musical energy blasts and physical strikes from the banjo itself, most of which were aimed right at Dominator's exposed face. It was like a dark, corrupted remix of his fight with Dr. Screwball Jones, only Wander's attacks were merciless, relentless, and filled with hate fueled vengeance.

It only took several minutes for Dominator's armor to be completely destroyed, leaving the defeated villain lying against the wall. She had lost nearly ever tooth she had, her right eye was swollen shut, and her nose was completely broken. It hurt to breath, possibly due to a broken rib or two. As Wander stood a few feet away from her, Dominator could only look at him with a mixture of disbelief and fear.

"Ith's. . .impothible. . ." she slurred out, "How. . . you. . . you can't. . .you're not. . ."

Wander began to walk closer to Dominator, the corners of his mouth twitching as he saw her shrink back away from him in fear. Then, he said in a deep, gravely voice, "There's nothing redeemable about you at all. You're just. . . vile, toxic filth."

Wander swung his banjo twice, and Dominator screamed again as the bones in her both her legs shattered.

"You just want to see everyone else suffer," Wander continued, "But the tables have turned now."

Wander walked across Dominator's chest, making sure to stomp hard onto her cracked ribs. Soon their faces were inches away from each other.

"You win. . ." Dominator gasped out, "My thip ith yours. My bots, my power core, ith's all yourth. Merthy. . ."

"You want mercy?" Wander asked flatly, "I'll give you mercy."

Wander shoved his banjo right into Dominator's neck.

"DIE!"

"And the worst part was that it wasn't enough!" the alter ego shouted to the disturbed faces of the three gathered before him, "I wasn't satisfied. I still lost everything. Everyone else was so happy that Dominator was gone and all the planets came back to life, but it didn't matter to me. Nothing did. All I could do was drift around from planet to planet, galaxy to galaxy, being miserable. . . Until I met that scientist and learned about multiverse theory. And that's when it hit me."

The vigilante Star Nomad pulled his banjo back out of his hat and slowly advanced upon this universe's Dominator, "If I could travel to alternate Universes, that meant that I could kill Lord Dominator over, and over, and over until I was satisfied. Mastering inter-universal travel wasn't easy, but when there's a will, there's a way."

Wander jumped in between Dominator and his alternate self and said, "What you're doing isn't making anything better! You're never gonna be satisfied by taking lives! And don't you see? This Dominator didn't kill Sylvia! You're punishing someone for a crime they didn't commit!"

"There is no good inside her," the vigilante said with great certainly, "She would've gladly killed your Sylvia if Lord Hater hadn't created that shield in time. She deserves to die, just like 979 others I've destroyed."

Wander's wide eyes looked the vengeful creature up and down, and he said sadly, "You've. . .been at this for that long? And you still don't see that you're never gonna be satisfied?"

"If I'm never satisfied, so be it," the other said with unwavering conviction, "The Multiverse is infinite, so I can spend the rest of my life killing Dominator again, and again, and again!"

". . . No. . . NO! That's terrible! You'd be no better than she was!" Wander shouted in a surge of emotion, then he outstretched his arms and said, "I'm not letting hurt anyone else! There is good in Dominator, so I'm not letting you hurt her anymore!"

"I've seen you do this 91 times already," the other growled out impatiently, then he pointed his banjo at Wander and said, "I don't care about you, and I don't care about any other Sylvia other than my own, and she's dead. I've already destroyed other versions of you two lots of time before because they got in my way. If you two don't leave right now, then I'll destroy you too."

For Sylvia, it was at this point that the full extent of the danger they were in finally sunk in. She turned to Wander and said, "Buddy, we better go. Now. This freak's dangerous and out of our league."

Wander frowned and said resolutely, "Not. Without. Dominator."

Three things happened at once.

The vigilante from another universe fired a blast from his banjo.

Sylvia dived forward and tackled Wander out of the way.

Dominator screamed and threw herself flat onto the ground.

As a result, the blast missed and ended up striking the fetter that attached the chain to the wall, breaking it and somewhat freeing Dominator, as she still hat the metal band around her.

The vigilante growled and was about to fire again when a blast ended up hitting him in the face and throwing him against the wall and knocking off his hat.

Wander had pulled out his own banjo and counter attacked against his doppleganger. He was about to say something when a loud rumbling and cracking echoed through the cave. He turned and saw that the vigilante's attack no only broke the chain's fetter, but cause a huge crack to form in the cave wall. As the crack grew and spread up into the ceiling, Wander called out, "Sylvia! Grab Dominator!"

"On it!" Sylvia shouted as Wander jumped onto her back. She used her tail to pull a dazed and confused Dominator up onto her back as well, and she quickly ran out towards the entrance of the cavern.

"WAIT!" Wander shouted as he turned to look at the one they were leaving behind.

Huge boulders then fell down between the vigilante and the fleeing trio. The dark Star Nomad dived forward, only for a large rock to fall and crush his lower body. He cried out in pain and agony as more dirt and stone began to fall all around him. He reached into his hat, which lay a few few away from him, and pulled out a large electronic bomb with a digital readout counting down from 5 seconds.

He blinked once, then smiled and nodded. "Just what I needed. . ." he said, then he closed his eyes and whispered, "I'm coming, Sylv. . ."

Sylvia carried Wander and Dominator out of the cavern right before the entrance collapsed in on itself. Then, a few seconds after that, there was a huge explosive, incinerating fire ball that blew the area where the cave once was to dust.

The trio were thrown several feet forward by the blast, but were no worse for wear all things considered. As the three of them rolled over and stared at the ascending cloud of smoke, Wander nodded slowly and said, "I know why did it. . .I know he was like that. . .wanting to keep killing."

Sylvia gave Wander a look of longsuffering and said, "Please don't tell me that he was lonely."

Wander shook his head, "No . . . it was because. . . he didn't want to live. After seeing. . . what he saw, and never finding out that Dominator did have good inside her. . . he started to hate life itself. It didn't mean anything to him anymore. And since he didn't really wanna die, and he wasn't so far gone as to destroy innocent people, he obsessed about taking Dominator;s life away."

Wander the nodded slowly and said, "But now. . .I think he's at peace. . ."

" . . . I wish you would stop hiding your intelligent side and use it more often," Sylvia remarked drolly.

Wander shrugged, and then he turned his attention to Dominator. Her mouth was hanging open, and there was a far away look in her eyes. Wander smiled and pulled a skeleton key out of his hat. He then used it to unlock the padlock that held the metal ring around her closed, and it popped open, finally freeing her arms.

Dominator snapped out of her trance and turned to look at Wander. "Why?" she asked, although it sounded almost like a whine, "Why are you being so nice to me? That other dweeb was right. I was totally gonna kill the Zbornak-."

"Can't you just say my name for once!?" Sylvia remarked irritably.

"So why? Why are you helping someone who tried to destroy the one person you care about the most?" Dominator implored.

Wander took the villain's hand and said in earnest, "Because everyone's life matters. I don't want anyone to lose their life if I can help it. Life is good, and that other me stopped believing that. I guess being forced to watch. . .it. . .kinda broke his brain a bit, and I get that. But with my not-broken brain, I'd say that after a heaping does of consequences, it's time for some good old rehabilitation. And well . . ."

Wander gestured to all the wounds Dominator had received, "Look at yourself. On top of having your ship blown up, your army destroyed, getting kicked right off the villain leaderboard while Lord Hater is right at Number 1, I'd say you'd suffered enough."

Wander patted Dominator had and said with a smile, "So. . .what d'ya say?"

Dominator blinked owlishly at Wander. "I. . . don't understand. . ." she said awkwardly, "I can't understand. . . I just . . . I can't. . ." She then pulled her hand out of Wander's grip, stood up, and walked away.

Wander and Sylvia watched as the villain disappeared into the forest. Then Wander shrugged and said, "Aww, she'll come around. Just give her time."

Sylvia managed to crack a smile, "Huh. Maybe you're right. You've been right about a lot of things I've been wrong about before, so. . ."

Wander ran in close for a hug, which Sylvia gladly returned in full.

"Sylv?"

"Yeah, buddy?"

"Don't die."

". . . I'll . . .stick around for as long as I can, Wander."

"Okay, Sylv. . . okay."
