Author's Note: Sorry to keep you in suspense, but the story of the Ninetales will come after this one.
Cinderace- Getting Hot Feet
High above the frigid arctic lands below, around 40 kilometers from the ice and snow covered surface, a jet plane flew through the sky. It was a relatively small plane with a small number of passengers. This was to be expected, as this place had a singular purpose that did not require a large number of participants. While still in flight, the jet plane's door slid open, and then, without further ado, a Cinderace jumped out at a height of 25 miles above the planet's surface.
Cinderace had a determined smirk as he dived through the air at a steep angle, building up speed as his ears and hair were pushed back flat against the sides and top his head. The strong, forceful winds whipped through his fur and slapped against his whisker tufts on either side of his face. Inspire of all this, however, Cinderace endured and maintained an aerodynamic diving shape with his body. His legs and feet were together and his arms were at his sides as he dived downward. His smile got wider and wider as he built up speed, the entire experience exhilarating and fulfilling to him.
Then, after reaching his desired speed, Cinderace stretched out his arms and did a mid-air backflip, whooping and laughing as he flipped up and over as he fell. After a few flips, he then spread his legs apart so he could perform a windmill spin sideways through the air.
Cinderace righted himself, then spread himself eagle so that he was falling flat, and then stuck out his right arm and made a fist as he went into a superhero-like dive at a slight angle. He was wide-eyed and laughing gleefully as he zoomed speedily though the sky above the miles of wide open space below him.
Eventually, Cinderace rolled over onto his back and appeared to be relaxing on this air as he continued to fall. His facial expression was that of someone at peace and fulfilled, the occasionally happy chuckle escaping his mouth from behind his big two front teeth. Then, with a sigh of contentment, Cinderace reached over and grabbed the cord connected to the parachute he was wearing. The Striker Pokemon then gave the cord a good, strong yank. There was a loud snap, and the cord came away in his paw.
Cinderace, still smiling, looked at the broken cord in his paw. He slowly craned his neck to look at his parachute, and he saw how the cord had snapped right where it came out of the pack, making it impossible to pull out. Cinderace's chest began heaving, and his nose began to twitch madly due to how hard and fast he was breathing. His smile was finally broken as he yet out a horrified scream and flailed his arms and legs around wildly as he continued to fall down towards the still distant ground.
Cinderace sood settled into a fetal position as he covered his eyes with his paws and sobbed. However, his sobbing suddenly stopped and his right ear began twitching. Cinderace uncovered his eyes and revealed the look of urgent desperation on his face as his eyes widened from a sudden recollection. He then reached into his twitching right ear and pulled out a small pebble. Cinderace then maneuvered his body so that he was falling feet first, and then he flicked the small pebble he had been carrying in his ear down to his feet. He then began to quickly kick the pebble back and forth between the pads of his large feet as fast as he could, all while he was still falling straight down fast. It didn't take long for the pebble to become a Pyro Ball, and Cinderace kept juggling it, making it grow bigger and bigger.
Cinderace nodded his head encouragingly, laughing brokenly as he fell and the Pyro Ball grew. Soon the ball was about half as big as him. He then took a glance at the ground, and his pupils shrank when he saw how quickly he was approaching it. He let out another horrified scream and shut his eyes tightly. He pressed his paws together in a begging position as he sent his legs into overdrive, kicking the Pyro Ball back and forth between his foot pads and causing it to grow as big as he was, and bigger still.
The next thing Cinderace knew, there was big explosion and a burst of smoke and steam. The Pyro Ball had exploded upon hitting the ground, and had sent Cinderace forward and away from the point of impact. Cinderace's eyes were opened wide, and he was screaming in terror as he was fiercely flung forward. However, he after taking a deep breath, pulled his arms and legs in and rolled through the air, only to stick his legs out ahead of him so that he would inevitably land feet first instead of on his head.
Cinderace's feet were parallel to the smooth ground when they made contact, and Cinderace grimaced as he slid forward, a loud hissing sound and clouds of steam being left in the wake of his still hot feet due to the massive Pyro Ball he created. As he slid forward, Cinderace used all his upper body strength to pull himself up into and upright standing position. He then bent his knees and turned in order to stop his slide. After a brief 270 degree spin, Cinderace finally came to a halt and stood panting as he slowly caught his breath.
Cinderace slowly looked at his hands, then down at his still steaming feet, and then looked up up with a thrilled expression on his face. He cheered and jumped for joy, spinning around and walking backwards as he did a little victory dance, overjoyed by the simple fact that he was still alive.
A subtle cracking sound caused him to pause his celebrations, as it was quite clear to his big, sensitive ears. Cinderace looked downwards and saw that he was not standing on solid ground, but on solid ice. What's more, the ice was crystal clear, allowing him to see the deep, dark chasm below him. Cinderace looked up and around him, and it became clear that he was standing on a long cantilever-like ledge that jutted out from a massive glacier.
Cinderace let out a small gasp and quickly stepped forward with the intention of getting off the narrow ledge and onto the actual glacier and safety. However, his first step created a loud hiss and several more cracks as the ice melted beneath Cinderace's hot feet. The Striker Pokemon could see more cracks form into the ice right before his eyes, and he knew that the ice he was standing on was all the stood between him and the dark chasm of freezing water and jagged rocks and glacier shards below him. His ears hung back at the sight of the worsening cracks, and his quickly lifted up his right leg and frantically shook his foot in a vain attempt to get it to cool off. As he did this, his left foot created more steam, hissing, and cracking as it seemed to sink in deeper into the ice.
Cinderace froze, not daring to move a muscle as his eyes darted around nervously in thought. He then let out a shaky sigh and put his right foot back down. Ignoring the resulting cloud of steam and cracking, Cinderace closed his eyes and began to slowly stroke his whiskerd with his paws. He breathed in and out slowly, softly repeating a mantra to himself. He gently massaged his cheeks in between breaths he took in through his nose and out through his lips. After a minute of this, Cinderace opened his eyes and looked down at his feet. He fist pumped when he saw that they weren't emitting extreme heat anymore, and he started to walk forwards off of the ledge. However, he was stopped on his second step. He turned around and saw that his left foot had indeed melted itself about an inch down into the ice and was now frozen in.
Before Cidnerace could really make sense of this, a loud massive crack sent him reeling. A large chuck of the ice ledge was breaking off, and unfortunately for Cincerace, his left foot was currently stuck within that massive chunk. He was pulled backwards by his left leg, and quickly found himself hanging by his paws and right foot, which were all grabbing on to the new ledge left behind by the broken chunk of ice. All the while, Cinderace's left leg was being stretched by the huge chunk of ice.
Cinderace struggled in vain to pull himself up, gasping for breath and panting as he held on with three of his limbs. Then he cast a glance at his right foot, and inspiration struck him. He breathed in and out loudly, huffing and puffing as he focused on his left foot. Slowly but surely, Cinderace's left foot began to heat up. Then, with a cloud of steam, it melted itself free of the chunk of ice, letting it fall down into the chasm below.
Cindreace quickly scrambled back up onto and back onto his feet, laughing in relief as he massaged his left leg. Suddenly, cracks began to form under his left foot, causing Cinderace to cry out and frantically bunny-hop on his cooler right foot onto the main body of the glacier just as the cantilever finally broke apart and fell away.
Cinderace spun around and landed flat on his back, his breathing slowly returning to normal as he stared up at the sky. He then raised his head slightly to look at his feet. His wiggled his toes a bit before sighing and looking over to the smart watch he wore around his right wrist. After logging in and sending his GPS coordinates for his pick-up, Cinderace laid his head back and simply lay there on the cool ice as he finally allowed his tense body to relax.
