Orange - Day 6- sessxkag week 2021
The first snowfall of the winter season blanketed the entire western lands.
In the western palace, just beyond the sliding doors were the private gardens from the master rooms that included flowers, fruit trees and herbs of different variations.
Kagome had just finished her duties and was going back to her private sitting room that is adjoined next to the master bedroom.
She was glowing with happiness as she would be able to have her first taste of kishu mikan (mini manderin orange) that she grew from her private garden. It has been a few years since she last had any.
Humming happily, she entered the room but was surprised to find her mate waiting for her.
"Hello my loving husband. What are you doing here? I thought you would be busy until dinner time." She asked as she sat beside him and kissed his cheek.
"I left Jaken to deal with the rest of the paperwork. I wanted to taste this kishu mikan you have been talking about and spend time with you." He lovingly nuzzled her.
Smiling widely "oh my that's so sweet of you! Here let me serve some tea first." as she poured two cups "It is the special blend you brought back from your last visit to the village."
They cuddled beneath the warmth of the kotatsu as they sipped tea while they looked at the snow covered garden.
"I'm glad I was able to pick the mikan this morning before the snow fell." Kagome snuggled up closer to Sesshomaru for warmth.
"Tell me why you are happy to have this mikan. Is there any reason behind it?" Sesshomaru asked with curiosity.
"I have fond memories with my father because of it. Every winter we would watch the snow fall and eat it together. We even planted a tree and grew our own. The first time we picked from it I was about 3 years old. After he died, I helped grandpa tend to the tree and eventually I took over. We had 4 trees when I left home." Kagome explained.
"Your father must have loved you very much to have made those memories together. You're quite knowledgeable in growing them." He picked up one and looked at it "it's quite small."
"Small but delicious!" Taking it from his hand, she began to pull it open like a flower in bloom. Breaking the pieces apart, she fed the first slice to her husband.
"Well? What do you think?" She asked as his face remained stoic as he chewed on the fruit slice.
Taking a slice, he fed her.
Kagome's face lit up with joy "this is really sweet! Must be the sweetest I've ever had!" She exclaimed.
"Indeed it is. I can see why you like it very much." He replied with a smirk.
"Oh I have an idea! We can use some to make mochi for New Years!" She excitedly said "I can dry some slices for tea as well!"
"You have many uses for this little fruit. I hope you do not eat it all before these other delicacies are made."
Kagome pouted "I hope you're right! It's not a lot this year but I'm sure next year we will have more and hopefully share with everyone else." Biting into another piece, she smiled once more.
"I get so happy when I see, smell and taste them. It reminds me of little balls of sunshine filled with happiness, love and warmth." As she fed another piece to her husband. "I can make some into candies!"
"How about we plant more trees in the spring? This way we can have an orchard filled with them." The gracious demon lord offered "I will help you so as not to over exert yourself."
"Yes I'd love that! We would be able to enjoy them in all different ways but I do just love eating them just like this with you." Placing a gentle kiss on his lips.
