Sesshomaru had a look of complete shock on his face. Midiriko's death had haunted him for many centuries. Now it was haunting Rin. "You got there just as she died." Rin stated as she held onto him tighter. Sesshomaru lowered his head in shame. Rin raised a hand to his cheek. "I never should have left her." Sesshomaru stated softly. Rin shook her head. "No, Sesshomaru, Midiriko told you to go, had planned on using that technique from the start. It was the only way to stop all the demons." Rin stated living the memory through the eyes of Midiriko, allowing her access to her thoughts and feelings.

Sesshomaru looked at her strangely. 'How could she have known that?' He thought to himself as he carried her back to the house. Once he cleared the treeline he scented a demon, one he didn't want to deal with. He kept Rin in his arms to keep her safe. "Who's here?" Rin asked her mate. From out of the house walked InuKimi, Sesshomaru's mother. "So Yuka was right, you mated a ningen. How like your father, you are." InuKimi stated as she walked up to meet them. InuKimi looked at the scene before as a memory flashed before her eyes. From seven years ago.

"I see. The human child I brought back for you." InuKimi stated. "It is her, isn't it?" She asked. Sesshomaru looked from his mother to Rin, all he could do was nod. InuKimi saw the slight smile and light in his eye. Giving a small smile of her own she nodded her head. Sesshomaru looked up at his mother as Rin motioned to be let down. Sesshomaru set her down; keeping her beside him. "Very well, my son. I know what Midiriko meant to you." InuKimi then flew away as she saw the look upon both their faces. Rin looked up toward Sesshomaru. "Well that was unexpected." Rin stated softly. Sesshomaru nodded his head.
