CH 170
The next morning Sam called a taxi to take her to the bus dept where she was getting on a bus that would take her to silver creek. On the way the bus stops every three hours so the passenger can stretch their legs and grab something to eat. It was the next day when the bus pulled up at silver creek bus station. Sam picks her bag and walk off the bus to see tom there in his uniform smiling at Sam
"Welcome back Sam"
"Thank" they walk over to his patrol car and got in
"Your wagon and things are at home, your more than welcome to stay with us for the night"
"Thanks tom but I want to check on things at the cabin, I'll be leaving in the morning… I want to get back home so I can find out what the latest is on the mission"
"Sure thing Sam, I understand"
When they stopped outside of tom place, Sam saw her wagon park in their driveway. Tom pulled car keys out of his pocket and passes them to her
"Here you go Sam"
"Thanks Tom… I don't know when the next time we will be up this way"
"Ok, I understand, take care"
"I will thanks" then she got out of the car
"Tom, I'll give you guys a call when I get back home so you would know that I'm home safe and sound"
"Ok Sam, take care"
"Will do and thanks"
"No problem"
Then Sam closed the car door and walked up to her wagon and unlocked the door and opened it and got in. a minute later she was on the road back to the cabin. On the way she stopped off to buy a few groceries and had some lunch while in town before leaving for the cabin.
When she got there, she checked the place over and took the groceries bags, her bag, pillows and blankets into the cabin, she left the rest in her truck. After she got everything sorted out, she went and got change then she got herself-a drink and walked back outside and sat down on a wooden chair looking over where the lake was, thinking about Jack and the mission.
That night, she liked eating junk food, so he was happy that she brought some from the supermarket since that is what she was craving for at nighttime. It reminds her of Jack bringing home takeaways on Tuesday night since that day is always the busiest day of the week and on Fridays when they go out for dinner some place.
Sam sat at the dining room table munching on cream doughnuts, potato chips with dip, ice cream, cookies and other junk food. When she finish she lean back in her chair and put her hands on to her stomach
"Well kids I hope you're happy for now" she felt them move which made her smile.
She cleaned up her mess and went to bed with a bottle of water and packet of mix nuts for her midnight snacks. Soon as she was in bed, she was asleep seconds later.
Early the next morning, Sam packs everything up and checks everything before she locks the cabin and leaves in her truck just before dawn. Sam went to the dinner, which is in town; she knew what time it opens for breakfast in the mornings. When she parked her wagon she got out and close and lock the doors before she walked into the shop. She walked over to the bar and sat down just as a waitress walk out and smile at her
"Morning Sam, what can I get ya?"
"Morning Emma, I'll have glass of apple juice and the chief special with extra maple syrup and hash brown please"
"Sure, you must be hungry"
"Little one is this morning" she patted her stomach, Emma smile
"I know that feeling, been through it six times myself" the she walk over to the counter between the kitchen and where Emma is
"Who here?"
"Sam Carter her she want one of you special with extra maple syrup and hashbrown"
"Sure and Jack?"
"She alone" then a guy who was in his sixties walk through the door and over to Sam
"Sam, is everything ok with you and Jack?" He said with a concern look on his face, Sam smiles
"Yes everything is great… Jack was called back on a mission few days ago and I'm heading back to Colorado this morning"
"Are you sure you will be ok to drive?" Sam smile
"Yes, I'm going to be taking my time, ask tom tomorrow afternoon if he has heard from me I said I was going to call him when I got home"
"Ok now I better you your breakfast, others will be here soon"
"Sure" then he walked back into the kitchen where Sam heard him making breakfast, Emma poured Sam a glass of apple juice and passed it to her then she turned the radio on where they all listened to some music.
"So do you know if you are having a boy or a girl?"
"We don't know yet, we want to wait till he or she is born"
"Ok… names?"
"Yes and I'm not saying"
"Come on you can tell me"
"Sorry" then the door open and five guys walk in and sat down not far from Sam, Emma walk over to them
"What can I get you gentlemen?"
"Coffee and what good here?"
She pick up five coffee mugs and put them on the counter and she pour them their coffee then return the coffee pot back on the shelf and press a button then she turn to the five guys as she pulled out her pen and paper
"Everything's good here" They look at the menus
"I'll have the chief special"
"Same here" they all agree
"Ok" she wrote it down then walk over and told the chief
"Five specials" then she walks back over to where Sam is.
"Did you and Jack enjoy yourselves at the carnival the other day?"
"Yep, Jack dunk tom three times" Emma laugh
"I heard all about that and you fix the two cotton candy machines, you were fast in fixing them"
"Thanks, what did you think of the different-colored cotton candy?"
"Different is good to have things which are different, I like the green one… I ended up with green tongue," she said smiling
"That good to know"
They talk for couple of minutes when emma heard the chief called out so she walked over and pick up a plate, plus knife, fork and napkin, she walk over and place the plate in front of Sam
"Thanks" Then she started eating breakfast when the news came on.
Sam stops eating when she and the others hear that a rescue mission almost failed and that there were a number of rescues who were injured, and no one knows what has happened. Then it went on about other things then Emma turn the radio off
"Sam, I'm sure he is fine"
"Hey why did you turn the radio off" Emma turn to the guys
"This woman's husband is one of the men who on the rescue team" they look at Sam they could see that her eyes are close
"Her husband… sorry I didn't know"
"Well know you do" Sam open her eyes then she carry on eating
"Jack is fine"
"How do you know?" Sam looked at the guys
"I know, at the moment I can tell he angry about what happen" then her cell phone rings so she put her knife and fork down and open her bag and pull out her phone, she saw the caller display then answer it
"Carter… yes sir I just heard, how bad was it sir… what happened do you know… Can you put me through to him, only I can calm him down… thank you sir" then she waited
"Jack sure is angry, he just yelled at the chief of staff, I'm talking to general Ryan, they going to let me talk to him" then she heard a click on the phone and heard jack voice
"Hey what this I hear my husband yelling at the chief of staff… What happened Jack… yes… he did what…carry on… yes…no I'm not, what else… Yes so plan 'B' then was it… ok, sounds like a mole to me…any ideas… ok… Jack, how many were wounded… yes… yes… ouch at least you can tease him with a box of doughnuts and rubber ring" Sam smiles knowing she just made Jack smile.
"You're welcome, are you calm enough to talk to the general… good… in silver creek, I'm at dinner having breakfast… ok we will talk when you return… ok love you… I know, bye…"
Then she hung up and put her phone back in her bag then she picked up her knife and fork then carried on eating again, she noticed the five guys were starting to eat their breakfast.
"Is everything ok Sam?" Emma asked
"It will be in time"
"Ok"
"You can turn the radio back on if you like"
"Sure"
She walked over and turned the radio back on, then she picked up the coffee pot and refilled the coffee mugs just as more customers walked in and sat down.
When Sam finish her breakfast she pulled out her wallet and pulled one bill from it and put it on the bar then she stood up
"Thanks Emma" she walked over and pick up the money and put it in her apron pocket
"Your welcome Sam, have a safe trip"
"Will do" then she picks up her bag and walks out of the dinner.
She unlocked the wagon and got in then minute later she was on the road, she went to the cemetery first where she put artificial flowers on Jack's parents and both grandparents' graves. Both her and Jack were planning on visiting the grave before they returned back to Colorado.
"Sorry Jack can't be here in person, he is on a mission, we were going to tell you together… I'm pregnant with twins, Jack and I know that you would be not just proud but happy as well for us. Jack doesn't care what we are having, but for me I'm hoping that one of them is a boy so he can have the O'Neill name, if we going to have twin boys, we both be happy, if they are girls' well we will keep on trying so our son can pass down the family name. Well I better get going and go a long way to get home and next time we are in town, we will come and visit before we go to the cabin, Just in case something like this happens again… Oh you will be proud of Jack, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and I'm now a captain. I hope you are happy with Jack and me, who knows when the next time we might be up this way… we might be parents, we just have to wait and see, bye till next time"
Then she put her hand on the bump of her stomach then turned around and walked to her wagon and got in, then she was on the road back to Colorado Springs. She stopped a few times along the way and even stopped at a rest area where she had a nap for a couple of hours before getting on the road again.
It was just after two in the morning she pulled up in the garage and turned off the motor. She made the garage lights turn on and the garage door closed before she turned off the lights and got out of the wagon. She walked inside the house turning lights on and garages lights off.
She walked up to their bedroom with a couple of bags in hand. She put them down on the bed then she walked into the bathroom where she did her night routine before going to bed.
Few minutes later she was in bed with bags on the floor next to her bedside draws. She turned the lights off and rolled over and fell into peaceful sleep.
Later that morning after Sam unpack the truck and put things away, she went into town for some brunch and also got some groceries, then returned back home. She unpack everything then she put a load of washing through the machine then she got herself a drink then sat down and relaxed for the rest of the day.
That evening she called Tom to let him know that she was back home safe and sound. She spoke to him for a few minutes before hanging up.
Then she left to go into town to a Mexican restaurant where she got herself some takeaway then she went around to KFC and bought herself a barrel of chicken then she returned back home. When she got home she ran a hot bubble bath which she enjoyed while eating her Mexican dinner.
When finished, she lay back and relaxed till the water started to go cold so she got out and dried herself down then she clean up the bathroom and took the rubbish down the stairs. Then returned back up the stairs to the bedroom where she took her robe off and climbed into bed and turned off the lights then rolled over and closed her eyes, she was asleep within seconds.
The next morning Sam just finish putting a load of washing in machine and started it when the phone rang, so she walk quickly down to the kitchen to answer it
"Carter"
"Sam it General Hammond" Sam smile
"Morning sir, what can I do for you?"
"I just call to let you know Jack plane would be landing in half an hour"
"Ok, thanks for calling, I'll be there"
"Ok see you soon" then they both hung up.
Sam quickly ran up stairs to their bedroom where she packed a change of clothes and toilet bag for Jack then she left a few minutes later to Peterson air force base. When she got there, She parked her wagon and then got out. She picks up a Jack bag and walks over to the hanger where she knew the plane would stop. When she got there, the staff members smiled and greeted Sam.
Five minutes later Sam watches the plane land and stop not far from the hangar. She watches as the back of the plane door lowered then she waited for Jack. She saw the guts walk off the plane with their backpacks.
When Sam saw Jack her smile gotten even wider, when he saw her, he walk over to her and drop his pack on the ground then they both hug and kiss
"I miss you Sam"
"I miss you Jack, welcome home" then they both kiss again.
"How did you know"
"General Hammond called"
"Ah, well I better go and freshen up" he pick up his back pack while Sam pick up a bag and pass it to him
"Thanks Sam, where are you park?"
"Normal spot"
"Ok, I'll meet you there"
"Ok then we can go and get some lunch"
"Sounds good to me" he gives her one more kiss before walking towards the locker room.
