Chapter XV: Transitional Tranquility

Yongen-Jaya Park (四軒茶屋 パーク)/Yongen-Jaya, Tokyo (四軒茶屋, 東京)/March 31, 2019 (2019331) (Reality: March 31, 2021)/11:15 PM (JST)

Since the demise of the Yokai wave at Meiji Shrine, there had been a gradual but slow rise of malevolent spirits causing mischief and even reports of a few human slayings. One of these malevolent spirits is the infamous urban legend, the Kuchisake-onna. This was the first case of an urban legend running loose since Louis, Makoto, and Haru encountered the Ghost of Sanders, which occurred before the First Yami Matter Event.

Having gathered information from locals, Yuriko advised the Phantom Thieves, the Vein Remnants, and the Spiritual Gamblers about meeting potential evil spirits. It was not yet certain if the Yami Matter had anything to do with this, but the groups remained cautious.

Needless to say on this night, the Thieves, Revenants, and Gamblers cornered the Kuchisake-onna.

Joker, Panther, Sion, Tennyo, Skull, Mircalla, Mona, Tamamo, and Brave faced off with the Kuchisake-onna. This malevolent spirit resembled a sickly pale-skinned young woman. She was seen garbed in a beige overcoat, black leggings, black shoes, and a surgical mask that covered her mouth. Her eyes are glossy and pale blue. She wore her long black hair down her back and past her shoulders.

Taking out a pair of scissors, the Kuchisake-onna approached and creepily asked the group. "Heeeey, am I pretty?"

"I don't know. You're wearing a mask, so how are we supposed to know?" Brave rebuked.

"Yeah, lose the mask and we'll tell ya if you are," Skull replied to the woman with the surgical mask.

Confused by their initial responses, the Kuchisake-onna growled with irritation. "Am I pretty?!"

"Hey, lady! Are ya hard of hearing?! We just said we don't know!" Skull snapped at her.

Tamamo clamped both hands together. "Could you maaaaybe give us a little peek? Pretty please?"

Sighing, Joker conjured his Tyrant Pistol and shot Kuchisake-onna. The bullet not only went through the malevolent spirit but knocked her back.

"Yo, what the hell, man?!" Skull balked at his friend wasting no time shooting the masked woman.

"Use your heads, guys. Our search is over," Panther shrugged as she readied her Naraka Whip.

"That's the Kuchisake-onna we've been searching for," Sion promptly stated as Tennyo summoned her ko-naginata.

Upon recovering from Joker's gunshot, the Kuchisake-onna growled intensely as her mouth seemed to twitch uncontrollably behind her surgical mask. The sound of her chattering teeth became unsettling to their ears.

"Looks like she wants some more," Mircalla scoffed.

"I asked… AM I PRETTY NOW?!"

Skull had enough and shouted. "Geez, shut up already! No! You ain't pretty, how's that?!"

As Skull verbally blasted her with a disparaging remark to her, the Kuchisake-onna growled.

"Dumbass, you shouldn't have said that!" Brave chided Skull. "Confusing her with a 'maybe' would've given us a chance to attack her!"

Tamamo nodded. "Yep, how do you not even know about the Kuchisake-onna urban legend?"

Skull muttered. "Well, duh I've heard stories here and there."

The grisly woman uncovered the surgical mask, revealing her mouth to be slit from ear to ear. Her lips were shaped like a Glasgow smile. When she opened her mouth, torn skin on the sides of her mouth seemingly ripped open and revealed razor-sharp teeth.

"Well, am I pretty now?!"

Having seen the woman's real face, Skull freaked out. "GAH! HOLY SHIT!"

"Ugh, never mind that! Just attack her!" Mona shouted.

When she didn't get the response she wanted, the Kuchisake-onna fiercely attacked them with her scissors, howling like a banshee. The four Thieves, the three Revenants, and the two Gamblers spread out. All of them evaded getting slashed by the Kuchisake-onna's scissor strikes. Panther tossed her Naraka Whip at Kuchisake-onna, attempting to disarm her scissors. However, the evil spirit vanished and teleported behind Panther.

"Duck, Lady Ann!" Mona intervened on Panther's behalf and shot the slit-mouthed woman with an explosive from his Sudarshana slingshot.

After getting shot by Mona, the evil spirit vanished instantly and reappeared in mid-air. She pulled out two pairs of scissors and tossed them like shuriken at Mona and Panther. Suddenly, a long scorpion's tail came out of Mircalla's back and stopped Kuchisake-onna's scissor blades.

"Thanks for the save, Lady Mia!" Mona waved to her.

"Let's see you get out of this, you slit-mouthed…!" Before Mircalla could finish, the Kuchisake-onna vanished and teleported away from the Revenant.

Kuchisake-onna reappeared far away from her adversaries. As she turned to flee, Joker, Sion, and Tennyo cut her off from the pass.

"Going somewhere?!" Sion grunted as his red eyes glowed.

Taken aback by Sion's gleaming red eyes, Kuchisake-onna was confused. Not only was this the first time she's had a group of people fight back and counter her attacks, but seeing Sion's Revenant eyes somewhat spooked her. Perhaps, she had a morbid curiosity about the kind of people she was fighting. All her previous victims have been normal people until now.

Tennyo quickly rushed the Kuchisake-onna and swung her ko-naginata toward her. Kuchisake-onna sidestepped Tennyo's attack and teleported behind Tennyo. Quickly taking out another pair of scissors, the spirit prepared to slit Tennyo's throat. Before she could commit to the deed, a demonic hand poked out through her chest. Some black ectoplasm exploded from her chest and spilled all over. The grass around them became soaked in Kuchisake-onna's blood. The spirit looked down at the Ogre-Type Blood Veil sticking out of her chest. She looked over her shoulder and saw Sion behind her.

Sion's red eyes once again glowed, which disturbed the Kuchisake-onna. Wasting no time, Sion invoked his Envoy form and donned his white-and-dark gray battle outfit again. Not giving her a chance to recover, the power radiating from Sion's white aura effortlessly pushed the evil spirit back.

Ambushing the disoriented Kuchisake-onna, Tennyo spun around and cut the spirit. After getting slashed by Tennyo's ko-naginata blade, Kuchisake-onna screeched loudly and rolled around in pain. Then, Skull readied a bludgeon and clubbed the Kuchisake-onna's face with it. Kuchisake-onna fell and rolled away while rubbing the spot Skull smacked her hard.

"You keep askin' us if you're pretty? Well, how about me?!" Skull thumbed his chest. "Am I pretty to you?!"

Kuchisake-onna blinked in confusion over Skull reversing the question about his handsome manly features.

Brave gawked. "Dude, you saying that just sounds wrong."

Panther nodded. "Narcissistic even."

Tamamo clapped. "No, he's doing something right! He's throwing her off!"

Mircalla turned to Skull. "I guess you do know about the Kuchisake-onna legend?"

"Nah, but y'all suggested I try reverse psychology. So…" Skull quickly turned to the malevolent spirit and smirked.

Kuchisake-onna growled and picked up her scissors. However, Joker shot it out of her hands.

"Do you think I'm pretty?!" Kuchisake-onna asked Skull.

"I wonder, do you think you're pretty?"

Kuchisake-onna once again blinked, completely befuddled by his query. "...do you think I'm pretty?!"

"Do you think I'm gonna shove this in your mouth?" Skull brandished his bludgeon.

"DO. YOU. THINK. I'M. PRETTY?!"

"Do you even know who you're asking?"

The malevolent spirit snapped. "DO YOU THINK I'M PRETTY?!"

Then, Tennyo walked up to the Kuchisake-onna and replied nonchalantly. "You're average."

With a confused look, the Kuchisake-onna's head tilted to her left side. She seemed to space out, leaving herself open for the group to attack her at once. Tamamo conjured her Nine-Tails Guardian Spirit and sent it to attack Kuchisake-onna. Brave brandished her spear and imbued her weapon with Janomecho's spiritual power. Brave rushed Kuchisake-onna and slashed her with multiple strikes, including one vertical slash that almost split her in two.

As Kuchisake-onna noticed the Gamblers' spiritually-based attacks seemed to harm her, the Thieves and Revenants closed in for the finish. Joker shot her again with his pistol. Panther ensnared her with her whip, enabling Mona to strike Kuchisake-onna with another slingshot attack.

Having witnessed Sion activate his Envoy form, Mircalla remembered she was the only one of the main Revenants who hadn't unlocked her full potential. She cursed herself for falling behind Skyler, Louis, and Yakumo.

When the Kuchisake-onna turned and flew at Mircalla, the female Revenant felt a sharp sensation running through her head and body. Before she could even understand what was happening with her, a white veil of light engulfed Mircalla. Everyone witnessed the white light forming over Mircalla.

"You've finally achieved it, Mia. Good job," Sion smiled at this eventful occurrence.

"Way to go, Lady Mia!" Mona cheered her on as he and the others marveled at Mircalla's Envoy of John appearance.

As the white light faded, Mircalla checked over herself. Her outfit became a white inversion of her Revenant attire. There were pink accents also added to her white outfit.

Smiling, Mircalla nodded knowingly. "My cognitive self had this power. I'm glad it's all coming back to me. Now, your turn!" She quickly faced the Kuchisake-onna with laser-focused eyes and pointed her Bayonet rifle toward the spirit. Firing a barrage of white bullets from her Bayonet, Mircalla blasted Kuchisake-onna.

After neutralizing the spirit with her Bullets of Aramis, Mircalla dashed toward the Kuchisake-onna. When the spirit tossed a scissor blade barrage, Mircalla uncoiled her Stinger-Type Blood Veil and deflected the evil spirit's deadly projectiles. With a swing from her metal tail, Mircalla effortlessly sent the Kuchisake-onna flying back.

"Piece of cake," Mircalla furtively grinned as the evil spirit crashed into the ground.

"Now let's end this!" Sion declared as he, Tennyo, and Joker converged their attacks on the immobilized spirit.

Tennyo summoned Io/Moonlight into battle. Moonlight materialized her halberd and stabbed Kuchisake-onna with it. Then, Tennyo blasted the spirit with Divine Thorn. Imbuing his Queenslayer Blade with white light, Sion ran his blade through the Kuchisake-onna's body and began to exorcise her.

"It's over, evil spirit," Sion scowled, ripping his sword from her body.

As Kuchisake-onna fell to her knees, Joker put his Tyrant Pistol to her forehead. Kuchisake-onna looked up, staring fearfully at the Phantom Thief, who was a trigger away from shooting her.

"What did you ask us? Oh right, 'am I pretty?'" Joker muttered, intensely glaring into the spirit's cold blue eyes.

"Do you think I'm pretty?"

"You're average. But, am I handsome?" He shot back with a calm and wily grin.

The Kuchisake-onna gave a blank expression. She then lowered her head as if trying to comprehend his question.

"Don't you think you've hurt enough innocent people?" Joker asked her. "We're not the ones who wronged you. It was the one who indirectly caused your suicide. Take it up with him in the afterlife."

"You mean…?" Before Panther could say anything, Tennyo interjected.

"Her husband was the one who gave her those facial scars."

"Take your vengeance on him if you must, but leave this world and understand there are people who think you're still beautiful," the Phantom Thief leader genuinely said as his words seemed to touch the vengeful spirit. "It's ok. Let it all go."

Then, a white veil of light formed over the malevolent spirit. The bright light enveloped the Kuchisake-onna, changing her from the disfigured monstrosity into a woman garbed in a purple yukata with white flower embellishments. Her face was normal and free of her disfigurement. She once again became the woman defined by her majestic beauty. The woman genuinely smiled and vanished in the white beacon of light.

"Man, that was all it needed to take?" Skull sighed. "And here I was ready to bash her head in. Eh, can't be helped."

Panther smiled at Joker. "Wow, I didn't expect that from you."

"Well done, my friends," the sound of Yuriko's voice caught them by surprise. The group saw the shrine maiden approach them. "You've helped to release the anger and vengeance she's had pitted up inside her for the longest time."

"Yeah, good for her, but not so much for the victims she's hurt and killed," Brave said, conveying her disdain for the vengeful spirit's insidious actions against the innocent. "She can rest peacefully, but her victims probably won't."

Yuriko nodded. "You're right, which is why I'm here to send prayers to the fallen and hope they'll rest in peace knowing the Kuchisake-onna has been exorcised." With that, she clapped her hands and chanted a prayer.

"I still can't believe we stopped the Kuchisake-onna," Panther said.

"Dude, we used to hear gossip about her at the academy. Now, we managed to stop her!" Skull reminded Joker of the rumors about the Kuchisake-onna urban legend.

"Yeah, I remember. I hope that's the end of her."

Mona shrugged. "We can't ever be sure."

Tamamo added genuinely with a smile. "She looked at peace to me. Maybe she'll stop."

Sion checked with Tennyo and Moonlight. "Are you two ok?" The ladies responded with corresponding nods. "That's good."

"What's better is Mia unlocked her Envoy of John form. Well done," Moonlight congratulated Mircalla.

"Ah, c'mon. It was nothing but I'm happy all of our Envoys have been achieved, Skyler," Mircalla winked toward Sion.

"Wait until Louis and Yakumo hear about this," Sion said.

"Big cheers for Lady Mia!" Mona openly showered Mircalla with praise, causing the female Revenant's cheeks to blush red.

"Oh, stop. You're embarrassing me, Mona," Mircalla sheepishly chuckled.

"Don't be modest, Mia!" Tamamo clapped for the Revenant.

"Lady Mia, huh? So, what about Lady Ann?" Panther scoffed, flicking her long blonde hair back.

"Io, did you sense any Yami Matter influence with that spirit?" Tennyo asked Moonlight, who sat down beside her and leaned against her.

"No, I didn't," Moonlight replied. "Do you need me to heal you and Skyler?"

Tennyo shrugged. "I suppose but we didn't receive any injuries."

Sion chuckled and patted Moonlight's head. "Thanks, Io. Just for that, I'll let you feed on me." He offered to give his blood to Moonlight.

"And mine, too," Tennyo offered her own blood to the Persona Vein.

"How about one at a time?" Moonlight suggested.

Stretching her arms out, Mircalla added. "Well, that was a fun night out. Even better now that I've unlocked my Envoy mode. Moreover, I wonder how many of these evil spirits will be running amok while the Yami Matter is still out there?"

"True, while the Yami Matter may or may not have an indirect influence on these spirits, they may somehow be drawn to the dark presence and that could bring them out from the shadows," Mona deduced the possibility of other malevolent spirits resurfacing due to the Yami Matter presence.

"Consider this. The Vamkyries may be giving these spirits more range since they've been able to conjure Abnormalities and affect our reality," Tennyo suggested.

"One thing's for sure, we'll fight these evil spirits and make sure they do more damage than they've already caused," Sion proclaimed as he faced Joker's direction. "Am I right, Joker?"

The Phantom Thief leader nodded. "Yeah, we'll stop as many as we can. Maybe fighting more of them will lend us clues where to find possible Yami Matter and Vamkyrie activities."

"Woo boy! I'm spent! I can sure go for some Zzzzs," Skull yawned.

"Thank you all for helping to exorcise this spirit. There'll sure be others," Yuriko informed the group.

"Nothing to it, Yuriko!" Tamamo merrily chimed in.

"Ready to go, Mona?" Mircalla asked as she waited for him.

"Yeah…" Mona paused, giving a momentary glance to Joker and Panther. "I'll see you two when I see you. Make sure there's still plenty of sushi when I get back!" With a wave, he sprinted off and left with Mircalla.

"Mona's gotten closer to Mia these days. What could she be feeding him that we wouldn't?" wondered Panther, unsure of what to make of Morgana's attachment to Mia ever since he's been staying at her and Nicola's apartment.

"Who knows? At least he knows he's always welcome home with us," Joker smirked, watching Mircalla and Mona having a friendly exchange with each other.

Roppongi High School (六本木高校)/Roppongi (六本木)/Minato, Tokyo (港区, 東京)/April 1, 2019 (201941) (Reality: April 1, 2021)/8:00 AM (JST)

Following their opening orientation, Shinya, Nicola, Reiko, and Li-Ming sat in a circle of chairs to discuss their plans for the start of the school year, including joining clubs.

"Aw, right! We need to decide what clubs to join," Nicola said.

"That's right. Joining clubs is pretty much mandatory," Reiko pointed out. "I think I'll be joining the botany club."

"If there's a gaming club, I'll totally join that," Shinya grinned. He then lightly elbowed Nicola's side. "What do ya think? Wanna join?"

"I...I'll have to think about that one, Shinya. I mean, other clubs pique my interest."

"Eh? Like what?"

Nicola simply shrugged. "Can't say. Maybe I'll surprise you?"

"C'mon, what could be cooler than a gaming club?!" Shinya blurted out loud, to which a man in a suit entered the classroom and cleared his throat.

"I do believe homeroom has started, young man," the man addressed the teenage boy, who quickly plopped down in his seat. He set his briefcase on his desk and introduced himself. "Welcome to the new semester, ladies and gentlemen. I am your homeroom teacher Hojo Fujita, but refer to me as Hojo-sensei." Having introduced himself, he wrote his full name in Kanji on the chalkboard. "Yes, and you happen to be Oda Shinya, correct?" He asked the teenage boy.

"Um, yes, sir."

With a calm and collective smirk, Hojo silenced Shinya. "I do believe we're going to have an interesting year, Shinya."

Upon hearing this, Shinya slipped inside his own seat. The giggling from other students filled his ears.

"First day in, and you're getting our new homeroom teacher's attention. Way to go, dude," Nicola remarked.

Li-Ming giggled. "Getting popular already, huh, Shinya?"

Reiko shook her head. "Shinya, Shinya, Shinya."

Shinya plopped his chin on his deck and muttered. "Oh, man."

Sumire and Eugene's Apartment/Minato, Tokyo (港区, 東京)/April 6, 2019 (201946) (Reality: April 6, 2021)/6:54 AM (JST)

After some early morning stretching, crunches, and buttock exercises, Sumire and Rin returned from the apartment gym. They saw Eugene still in bed and wearing next to nothing except his underwear. When he awoke, Sumire and Rin were on top of him still wearing their gym clothes and yoga pants. He felt his lips being simultaneously locked with Sumire and Rin's lips. They shared a passionate three-way kiss as the man and the women's lips pressed together.

"So, are we still doing this?" Eugene asked them.

Facing one another, Sumire and Rin held each other's fingers and playfully smiled.

"What do you think, Rin? Should we indulge him?"

"He's your boyfriend. It's your call."

"I'm willing to share with you," the redhead playfully smiled, taking off her red hair ribbon and letting loose her long hair. At the same time, Sumire and Rin took off their tops and undid their bras.

As the ladies stripteased, they let him remove their yoga pants. Sumire then removed her boyfriend's underwear as all three were fully nude. Eugene lay on the floor as he and Sumire positioned themselves where he licked her vaginal spot. As he performed this, Sumire sucked on his member and gonads. Kneeling over and placing her crotch in front of Sumire, Sumire motioned over and licked the female Revenant's crotch.

Letting out a sensual gasp, Rin's cheeks blushed. Eyeing Eugene's member, Rin licked her lips and leaned over. Eugene gladly invited the Revenant to suck him. Rin engulfed Eugene's member and sucked it hard, while at the same time, she slid her fingers into Eugene's buttocks and fingered him.

With a playful giggle, Sumire leaned over Eugene's head, laying her firm and toned butt over his face. While sitting on her boyfriend's face, Sumire encouraged Rin to use Eugene's member. Nodding, Rin shoved Eugene's member inside her crotch. Once feeling his member inside the Revenant, he went in and thrust his hard member inside her. With this intercourse going on, Rin let out sensual moans. Following a powerful member thrust into her, Rin tossed her head back as she gave an orgasmic eye-roll and a perverted, stupefied grin on her face, and her tongue sticking out covered with drool that spilled over Eugene's crotch.

Meanwhile, Eugene licked his girlfriend's crotch and then proceeded to lick her butt. Then, Eugene started to eat inside Sumire's crotch, eliciting a loud cry as her cheeks were blushing deep red. Sumire turned around and met Rin, who looked at the beautiful Phantom Thief with lust in her eyes. Sumire and Rin exchanged a passionate kiss.

"You're a better kisser than I thought, Sumire," Rin commented on her friend's loving lips.

"Same with you, Rin. Your kiss is as pleasing as Eugene's," Sumire smirked as she and Rin continued kissing and lip-locking.

As the ladies then held each other, Eugene watched their beautiful intercourse, which gave him lascivious thoughts enough to stimulate his member inside Rin. Feeling his member throbbing hard, he hollered.

"Get ready! I'm about to come, Rin!" Eugene yelled out as he climaxed inside Rin, who threw her head back and let out a loud gasp. Her eyes became deeply depraved as even she, a strong Revenant warrior, was being subdued by a human man. However, Rin didn't mind at all being rendered puny all to please Sumire and Eugene.

"Oh god, yes… that feels so fucking good! Keep coming inside me, Eugene!" Rin yelled out passionately and unashamedly.

After removing his member from Rin, the Revenant's crotch spilled sexual juices over Eugene's face. He engaged Sumire in some intercourse as she lay on the floor. Sumire folded her strong and muscular gymnast legs around Eugene's body. Eugene lifted his girlfriend up and sat her on his lap. While Eugene stood holding Sumire, Rin embraced the man from behind as she and Eugene licked Sumire's feet. Rin licked the left foot and Eugene's tongue massaged Sumire's right foot.

"Mmm, that feels so good. It kind of tickles," Sumire giggled, feeling their tongues massaging her soft soles.

Eugene shoved his thick member inside Sumire. Following a few powerful thrusts into his girlfriend, Sumire let out sensual groans. Once his member throbbed and ejaculated, Eugene climaxed inside Sumire, whose face became bright red.

"Oh fuck…" Eugene muttered.

"It's ok, sweetie. This feels good," Sumire smiled as she grasped her boyfriend and Rin's hands.

As their early morning intercourse came to a close, the three jumped into the shower stall and bathed together. They let the warm shower water soak their bodies, cleansing the passionate sweat and sexual fluids off them. As Rin licked her lips, she watched Eugene get behind Sumire and shoved his member into her crotch. While watching Eugene thrust inside Sumire, Rin caressed her own crotch and masturbated while getting a perfect view of the couple's erotic intercourse.

"Heheh, oh this is fucking great. This is better than any hentai fetish manga I've read," Rin chuckled, her eyes devoid of any emotion except passionate love and depravity.

"I'm happy to please," Eugene said while ramming inside Sumire.

"Yes, me, too!" Sumire let out heavy pants.

The depraved Revenant couldn't be any more pleased. With the water running, Sumire and Rin's sexually aroused cries were drowned out. As Eugene stopped, Sumire turned around and lovingly kissed her boyfriend. After she got done pleasuring herself, Rin's lips locked with Sumire and Eugene's, once again engaging in a three-way kiss.

After they finished showering, Eugene walked out with Sumire and Rin beside him. They put on their fresh, clean clothes and sat on the bed.

"Thanks, you two. That was a hell of a way to start the day," Eugene said.

"It sure was! Gym workout has nothing on what we just did!" Rin stretched her arms.

"Yes, and now I'm energized and ready to head out! Who's hungry for a big breakfast! I could eat three plates!" Sumire shouted with enthusiasm.

"I think you'd outeat us with that bottomless pit," nervously chuckled Eugene.

"Lucky you," Rin sighed.

"Don't worry you can have a small plate of food, Rin. Ok, who's ready?! It's a beautiful day!" Sumire declared.

Tokyo Institute of Technology (東京工業大学)/Conference Hall/Auditorium/Meguro, Tokyo (目黒区, 東京)/April 10, 2019 (2019410) (Reality: April 10, 2021)/7:30 PM (JST)

"So, who is this individual we're listening to, Futaba?" Yusuke asked the otaku, sitting next to her.

"Juzo Mido. Does that name ring any bells?"

"What did you say his name was?!" Louis overheard as Futaba filled him and the others in. "Tell me you're joking."

Futaba furrowed her brow. "I wouldn't kid about this, man. FYI, he looks nothing like what Ren, me, and the others saw from the first Sion's Memory Echoes thing."

Skyler nodded. "Yes, based on the memories from the previous Sion, he did show you everything you need to know about our history with that monster."

Hifumi added. "Yes, I remember everything clearly from it. So much so, Mido's appearance creeps me out."

Io, who came dressed in a white dress instead of her usual torn and bandaged wear, held Hifumi's hand. "Don't worry. He won't get to us."

Jack concurred. "Calling him a monster is being too kind."

Sumire blinked. "Based on your tones, he's done you all wrong."

Eva nodded. "You have no idea. How ironic he'd become a scientist in this reality."

Needless to say, when they heard Juzo Mido's name, the other Revenants' faces showed anger and dismay. However, Morgana urged everyone to calm down to not arouse any suspicion.

"I understand you guys have a history with Mido but he may have no memories of what happened before," Yusuke deduced.

"If he weren't such a bad guy, then I'd say he's done amazing scientific research," Futaba said. "I've run background checks on him and I found no criminal history."

"As far as this Mido is concerned, he hasn't done anything wrong," Makoto stated.

"Yet," snarled Louis, causing Haru to shudder from his deeper and tense tone.

"Nevertheless, don't blame us for staying cautious," Yakumo scowled as he and Emily's eyes were laser-focused toward the stage.

"My, you guys paint this Mido out to be worse than my own father Shido," Akechi took a hint from the Revenant's disdain for this individual.

Listening to Akechi, Eva held back restraint from berating him. "...yes, you'd be right."

Jack answered. "Shido's political corruption has nothing on the atrocities Mido has committed."

"Anyway, why are we here? Miyako and I could be walkin' through town or catchin' a flick. Hell, anything better than some boring lecture," Ryuji leaned back in his seat and yawned.

"Because Futaba invited us, dummy! Besides, it's a free public event!" Ann angrily chided her bored friend.

"Heh, don't worry, Ryuji. I knew you'd find it boring as sin," Futaba chuckled. "We can all get some Big Bang Burgers after this."

Patting his belly, Ryuji replied, grinning from ear to ear. "Hell yeah, that's what I'm talking about!"

Haru chuckled as she looked over to Makoto and Louis. "Would that be ok? I know we wanted to go for something a little healthier?"

Makoto nodded and resigned. "No, that's fine. We haven't had Big Bang Burgers for a while now."

Louis sighed. "I kinda feel bad. It's because of my diet. I can consume solid foods, but I still require that blood diet. I don't want you two to hold back when we're out to dinner."

Makoto responded. "No, no, don't feel that way. Besides, I had to cut back since I actively train to keep myself in shape."

Haru added. "And I'm following Mako-chan's example! You're not the only one on a diet plan."

"Heck, I've put more tone to my body after I started training with Mina. It's been worth it for my modeling!" Ann enthusiastically shared her exercise regimens.

Sumire added with enthusiasm. "That's great you've all been keeping active. I still make time to actively train to become a professional gymnast. I'm even helping Rin train so she can get over her rust."

"You two have been hitting it off very well, Sumire. I'm glad to hear that," Ren said.

"Thanks, senpai. She's been wonderful company for me and Eugene."

Louis couldn't feel any happier for his friends. "Oh my fair ladies, I couldn't be any happier hearing this." Then, his attention immediately shifted toward the stage as Juzo Mido appeared on the stage with a microphone.

Clearing his throat, Mido openly addressed tonight's crowd, which mostly consisted of university students. However, there were public guests in attendance, including the Thieves and Revenants. "Good evening, ladies and gentleman. I'm sure everyone in this auditorium knows or has heard of me, especially you science majors. But, for those who don't, my name is Dr. Juzo Mido. I am deeply involved with the latest genetic bioengineering developments. I also have renowned knowledge in the field of paleontology. Now, you're probably wondering. 'What would I, a bioengineer, want to do with paleontology?'"

"Heh, maybe he's found a way to bring back dinosaurs?" Futaba joked.

"Dude, no effin' way. He could do that? Like that T. rex that chased us while we were go-karting through distorted Osaka?!" Ryuji queried Futaba.

"What? No! Ever heard of a joke?"

"This isn't like the movies. It's feasibly impossible to revive animals who've been extinct for millions of years. Besides that T. rex was just a cognition and nothing more," Yusuke pointed out the fine line between science fiction and fact.

Mia whispered. "Whoa, sounds like you guys had a crazy experience! Wanna clue me in?"

Ryuji snorted. "That big ass dinosaur sure felt real to me."

"Guys, you might keep it down," Skyler asked with a finger to his lips.

Taking a moment to scan his friends, Ren noticed the Revenants have been eerily quiet during Mido's lecture. In fact, minus Skyler telling Futaba, Ryuji, and Yusuke to keep their voices down, none of the Revenants hadn't moved from their seats and maintained piercing glares toward Mido.

Hifumi closely observed Skyler's silent mood. She noted how intense his eyes looked and placed a hand over his. She caressed his hand to calm him down. Mido's presence seemed to bother him and the other Revenants. Io grabbed Skyler's other hand and successfully calmed his nerves.

"I'm sorry, you two, but I can't stand sitting here while he's on stage," Skyler muttered as Hifumi and Io calmed his anxiety.

"Imagine how I'm feeling right now, Skyler," Louis muttered as Makoto and Haru closely monitored him. They could see Louis lightly tapping his foot.

"Easy, Louis," Makoto stressed.

"Yes, we're in public," Haru said.

Suddenly, Yakumo and Emily got out of their seats.

"Excuse us," Yakumo gritted as he and his girlfriend walked out of the auditorium.

"Judging by how Skyler and Louis are feeling, I can't say I blame those two for leaving. Don't those two hold the bigger grudge against Mido?" Makoto tried to recall. She turned to Louis. "Besides those two, you've been acting more intensely ever since Mido showed up in person."

"Um, pardon my asking but did you happen to see and meet Mido during your university time?" Haru asked him.

"When I was still attending, Dr. Mido often visited my school as a guest speaker. He was also…" Louis stopped himself before finding the nerve to reveal his relationship to the man. "He was a mentor and I admired him like a father figure."

"Oh, is that all? I thought it was something serious. Like he might've done something to you or something," Haru said.

"Yes, well I admired the man for his brilliant scientific mind… but, that was before regaining my memories," Louis revealed, which captured Makoto and Haru's attention, making them completely forget that Mido was speaking.

Clenching his right hand, Yakumo balled it up into a fist and restrained himself from finding something to hit and break. Based on their complete memories, he and the Revenants already recognized their connection with Mido. Recalling their Revenant memories, they even remembered their long friendship being orphans before the Great Collapse and joining the military. When they both died during the Great Collapse, they and their friends were found and placed through procedures to revive them into Revenants.

While Yakumo was still in the process of his Revenant conversion, Emily was tasked to be one of Mido's bodyguards. When Mido looked at Yakumo and his friends as likely Successor candidates, Emily volunteered to become the Successor of the Claw in their place, who she selflessly did so to protect Yakumo and their friends. Having sacrificed herself, Emily ensured Yakumo didn't become Mido's experiment. However, Mido betrayed Yakumo's trust by not ensuring the safety of his friends.

And since then, Yakumo continued to bear a grudge toward Mido for leaving his friends to die during their dormancy. Every time he looked at Emily, he would be reminded that he could've been sacrificed into a Successor. Being the loyal and passionate friend she remains to be, Emily continued to bear the burden for Yakumo.

"Can you believe it, Yakumo? What the hell is Mido doing here?!" Emily outright asked him.

"Your guess is as good as mine. You, me, and our group recognized that bastard, and believe me I tried hard not to get up and cause a scene."

"Looks like Louis was going to do the same. I'm glad you didn't, especially with all those people in there."

"Easy now, Yakumo," Emily patted his shoulder and grabbed his clenched fist.

After taking a deep breath, Yakumo relieved himself of his deep anger and anxiety.

"Don't you also find it strange?" Yakumo asked.

"What?"

"I know this is probably based on the size of the crowd, but Mido didn't seem to notice us. This is just speculation on my part, but maybe he hasn't regained any of his memories as we have."

Hearing this, Emily bit her lip and pondered over this notion. "Maybe, but it's hard to say unless we confront him."

"It wouldn't hurt if we approached and asked him some science questions. If he can recognize us, then he probably has some inklings of old memories," Yakumo stated as he and Emily turned only to suddenly freeze up when two individuals passed them by. They saw Gregorio and Cruz Silva heading for the auditorium.

"Yakumo, you just saw…" Emily whispered, her eyes and mouth nearly dropped at the sight of Gregorio and Cruz.

"Gregorio and Cruz Silva are here, too?!" Yakumo declared as he walked up to Gregorio and Cruz. "Excuse me!" He reached for Gregorio, who quickly turned and frowned.

"May I help you?" Gregorio queried, immediately befuddling Yakumo and Emily.

The way Gregorio reacted to Yakumo's approach, he didn't look like he even recognized him at all. Based on Gregorio and Cruz's confused looks, the couple concluded that these two like Mido don't have their full memories back. When Yakumo and his friends' had their memories restored by Io, he verified that Gregorio and Cruz were alive in this reality but Mido's whereabouts were unknown until they saw him tonight.

Gregorio's shocked expression had Yakumo and Emily suspicious about him. Yet, he and Cruz don't recognize them.

"No, sorry. I thought you were someone else," Yakumo apologized, letting Gregorio and Cruz enter the auditorium.

As Gregorio and Cruz closed the door behind them, Yakumo sighed deeply and turned toward Emily, who walked over to converse with him.

"Unbelievable, those two didn't recognize us," gritted Emily.

"It's probably for the best. Io did say they don't have their full memories since her presence hadn't reached them. The last thing we need is for them to remember us and cause an unwanted scene."

"Yeah right, we should still watch them," Emily added.

"Good idea," Yakumo turned toward the auditorium doors and walked in to follow the Silva family members. They observed Gregorio and Cruz walking toward a pair of empty front seats. "They're sitting right close to where Mido is giving his lecture."

Emily nodded, watching Gregorio and Cruz sit down. "They probably reserved those seats."

"C'mon, let's get back to our seats and watch them from there."

With that, Yakumo and Emily walked in and found their still empty seats. Mia turned to them with concern on her face.

"What took you so long? Some of us were getting worried," Mia stated.

"Is everything ok?" Jack asked them.

"You're not going to believe who we saw," Yakumo replied.

"Ok, who?" Mia queried. As soon as Yakumo told her about Gregorio and Cruz, she almost yelled out. "...what?! Those two are here?!" Her loud reaction caused others to give her irked glances. She sighed and whispered. "Are you sure?"

"Look at the front row seats," whispered Emily.

As Mia poked her head over other people's heads in front of her, she barely discerned the large older man and his pale-haired daughter. When she saw them, Mia was at a loss for words. It didn't take long for the other Revenants to see the two individuals. Skyler and Louis were the most surprised, but it was Louis who was surprised by Cruz's surprising appearance. Memories of his and Cruz's time together flooded his head, quickly flowing through like a tidal wave.

"It is her," Louis muttered, laying his eyes suspiciously on Cruz and her father.

"Louis, are you ok?" Haru asked him, who noted his shocked reaction.

"It's Cruz and Gregorio," Louis quietly muttered, but Makoto and Haru were still able to hear him.

"That's her? This would be my first time seeing her."

"Over there," Louis pointed Makoto toward the front row.

Makoto's red eyes scanned the front row seats where Gregorio and Cruz sat together.

"Wow, she's gorgeous," Makoto was taken in by Cruz's beauty.

"I'm surprised she's here of all places," Louis was still in a state of bewilderment.

"She's as beautiful as you've told her from the stories. Since you've interacted with these two in this dimension, have you tried talking to Cruz?" Haru asked Louis.

"I don't think he's in the mood to answer," Makoto watched Louis staring off without so much as acknowledging the two ladies.

Skyler wanted to get up from his seat, but Io and Hifumi convinced him to stay. Io saw Skyler looking rather perturbed. He then got a quick text from Yakumo. Skyler read his colleague's message.

Yakumo: Did you see who's in the front row?

Skyler frowned and typed in his response.

Skyler: Yeah.
Yakumo: Me and Emily bumped into them in the hall. They don't recognize us.

Having read Yakumo's message, Skyler deduced that the Silva family don't have restored memories like them. He and the other Revenants suggested that Mido doesn't have his memories back either. He sent a quick text message to Ren, who checked his phone.

Skyler: Hey, Ren, me and the others recognize some old faces.
Ren: Who?
Skyler: Mido and the two individuals sitting at the front. A large older man and a young woman with white hair.
Ren: Do you have their names?
Skyler: Gregorio and Cruz Silva, they're from our dimension.
Ren: I recall those names mentioned to us before. Are you sure it's them?
Skyler: Of course, I wouldn't be making this up. It has to be them!
Louis: I can vouch for Skyler. I saw them, too.
Ren: Ok. Don't try and cause a scene. Futaba wouldn't like us to get kicked out.
Jack: Yes, we wouldn't like to get removed for making a ruckus.
Skyler: Fine.
Ann: Hey, what'ca texting about? ;)
Mia: I'd like to know, too! :D
Futaba: Really? Seriously, guys? During a lecture, too?! :(
Ren: Heh, sorry. ;)
Skyler: We'll talk about this after the lecture then.

Hifumi checked on Skyler. "Is everything ok now?"

Skyler closed his phone and sighed deeply. "I should be fine now." She and Io both were relieved he was in a calmer state of mind for the time being.

The presentation moved forward with Mido unveiling an exotic-looking bird to the audience. It was a pheasant-sized bird. It has a long neck, a small head with a reddish-brown crest, blue facial skin with red eyes, and a body covered with dark and light brown feathers coupled with white and yellow feathers. The bird was locked inside a cage.

"Yo, check out that bird!" Ryuji yelled out, much to the annoyance of the university students trying to listen to the lecture. This prompted Ann to chastise him very harshly.

"I've never seen such a bird before. It's very pretty," Sumire commented on its exotically colored physical features.

"What a beautiful-looking bird. What is it?" Haru wondered.

"Looks like he's about to tell us," Makoto added.

"Yes, judging by the befuddled looks most of you seem to have, I don't blame you if you aren't aware this bird exists," Mido prodded the cage open. Then, after putting on a glove, he poked his hand inside to entice the exotic bird toward him. When the bird climbed on his hand, Mido showed off the exotic creature. "This is a hoatzin. I found this specimen during an expedition in the mangroves of the Amazon basin in South America."

"A hoatzin? Looks like a brightly-colored chicken to me," Ann remarked.

"It's got such exquisite-looking feathers," Yusuke noted its colorful plumage.

"Should he even bring that here? The poor thing has to be scared," Haru expressed concern for the hoatzin's anxious state of being.

"Honestly, I'd be afraid of being near someone like him," Emily tensely muttered.

Mido chuckled as he stroked the back of the hoatzin's neck feathers. "This happens to be my pet. This beautiful boy is named Eon. Say hello to everyone, Eon." He turned and showed off Eon the hoatzin.

"Pet? I'd like to rip that thing away from him if he even so much as hurts that thing," Skyler growled.

"Easy, Skyler. You even said Mido may not have his memories back," Hifumi said.

"Yeah, that's true, but seeing him there still bothers me."

Just then, Morgana poked his head out of Mia's bag. He climbed onto her lap and scanned the hoatzin.

"Hey, I know you're a cat and all, Morgana, but try controlling your temptation to run down and chase that bird," Mia said.

"What?! No, I don't eat birds!" Morgana snapped back.

Mido continued his lecture with Eon still perched on his arm. "Eon is a hoatzin, a rare bird that's endemic exclusively in the Amazon and the Orinoco basins in South America. As a paleontologist, this specific bird is an interesting case, but why? Well, as recent studies have determined, dinosaurs and birds are closely related. They are the same. Birds just happen to be the only surviving class of animals we call dinosaurs. There are a handful of species that exhibit dinosaur-like physical traits and appearances, such as the cassowary, the ostrich, and the shoebill stork. The hoatzin, like Eon here, is no different. However, it's now been discovered that the hoatzin's DNA has helped us determine that modern birds are descendants of a dromaeosaur-like ancestor. What's a dromaeosaur you ask? Well, think of the raptors you're most familiar with."

"Whoa, raptors? Like the ones from those Jurassic Park movies? Yep, I can see the similarities!" Futaba gasped upon recognizing the attributes between a Velociraptor and a bird.

"And did any of you know hoatzin chicks have claws on their wings? They're the only living bird to retain such attributes from their dinosaur ancestors. Eon used to have claws on his wings."

"Geez, now this guy's tryin' hard to convince us his bird is a dinosaur," Ryuji scoffed and rolled his eyes at the notion.

"Well, that's what he said. And why is it hard to believe? Dinosaurs and birds have similar anatomies," Yusuke referenced. "This hoatzin is no different."

"Next thing you're gonna tell me they had feathers."

Futaba turned around and grinned. "Oh boy, you have no idea, Ryuji."

"Dudes, that makes them less scary."

Jack sighed. "Then, you haven't seen how dangerous ostriches and cassowaries are, have you?"

Eva added. "And what about those birds that dive down and peck at you for being near their nests?"

Yakumo pointed out. "Or, geese. Yikes, those things have a nasty temper."

Futaba chuckled. "Yeah, I get a serious kick watching videos of poor dopes getting chased by geese. Kek."

Ann concurred. "Yeah, some of these birds don't mess around."

Akechi added. "Yes, and since my codename is named after a bird, I can agree."

Yusuke sighed. "Ok, Ryuji, try picturing an over 7-ton ground hawk with railroad spikes for teeth and charging at you at over 20 miles an hour. And that hawk has a bite force equivalent to two automobiles being crushed on top of your body. Does that not sound horrifying to you?"

As he tried his best to picture such an animal described to him, Ryuji said nothing and turned back around in his seat. He mentioned nothing else about the matter.

The otaku snickered and winked at Yusuke. "Way to shut him up, Inari."

"I try."

Meanwhile, Morgana was silent, but for another reason. His glare came into contact with Eon sitting on Mido's arm. He showed suspicions toward the exotic bird.

"Is the bird catching your eye, Morgana?" Mia asked, whispering to him.

"Kinda…" Morgana frowned as the hoatzin seemingly turned his direction and gave him a similar glare. Then, his ears twitched and picked up on raspy-sounding breathing from Eon. "Huh?"

Eon the hoatzin then spoke to him. "You got a staring problem, cat?!" The tone of Eon's voice could be described as scratchy and throaty coupled with hissing. As he spoke, only Morgana could hear him. No one else in the audience, not even a member from the Phantom Thieves and Vein Remnants, could hear the bird verbally speak in a sentence.

Taken aback by Eon's voice taunt, Morgana practically jumped out of Mia's arms afraid, and fell onto Ryuji's lap.

"Whoa, hey! The hell, man?!" Ryuji shouted.

"Morgana?!" Ann cried out. "What happened?"

"Th-that bird just said something to me…!" Morgana gritted while the top of his fur shivered.

"It spoke to you?" Mia blinked in confusion.

"Hah! Yeah, right! We're supposed to believe that?" Ryuji laughed and teased at the cat's expense.

"Of course, you wouldn't believe me, idiot!" Morgana snapped at Ryuji.

"Talking animals shouldn't be surprising if Morgana's any indication," Ren said.

"But, I'm not really a cat! That thing is clearly still a bird. Ugh, such a freaky ass voice! Now, I'm not going to sleep well!"

"And this is coming from someone who kept pressing me to sleep early," Ren remarked.

Ann quickly grabbed Morgana and stroked his back. "Hey, relax. Besides, we've already caused enough of a scene."

"Sorry about that, Lady Ann," Morgana sighed as he watched Mido putting Eon back inside his cage. "Stupid chicken."

"Could it be that hoatzin is not really a hoatzin, but a human like you, Morgana?" Haru wondered.

"No, that thing is still clearly a bird. I know I'm human."

Ryuji chuckled. "That bird scared the crap outta ya, didn't it?"

Morgana angrily hissed. "Shut up!"

"That's enough, you two!" Ann harshly chastised them.

Akechi chortled. "Oh, you guys never cease to keep a guy like me entertained."

After a few closing words, Mido stayed for Q&As with audience members. The Phantom Thieves and Vein Remnants got up from their seats. Skyler and his Revenant cohorts specifically eyed Mido, Gregorio, and Cruz. Louis didn't stop attentively looking toward Cruz.

"So, you want to go down there and confront them?" Ren asked Skyler and Louis. "It's your call, but we might not get another chance unless we go down and see them."

"Might want to scratch that because it looks like they're about to leave and they got security with them," Makoto pointed to the various bodyguards surrounding Mido and the Silva family.

"It's perfectly fine if we go now. We don't want to cause enough of a scene," Louis added, watching Cruz being escorted along with her father.

"Fine, if you say so. Just know we might not have another chance," Ren remarked as he adjusted his glasses.

"As I said, I'm fine with this. Besides, Gregorio and Cruz don't seem to have their memories based on my previous interactions with their current selves. Chances are Mido doesn't have any restored memories like us."

Skyler nodded to Hifumi and Io. "Are you two ready?"

"I am," Hifumi replied. "Io?" She and Skyler noticed Io watching the Silva family and Mido leaving. "Io, we're leaving."

"Huh? Oh, I'm coming," Io broke out of her quiet trance and rejoined Skyler and Hifumi.

"Well, that was an interesting lecture, wasn't it, senpai? Thanks for the invite. Sorry if Eugene and Rin couldn't make it," Sumire addressed Ren.

"It's ok. I'm just glad you were able to come, Sumire. Tell those two I said hi."

The red-haired woman beamed happily. "I sure will!"

"And I'm about to head out and leave. Thanks for indulging me to join you and your friends tonight," Akechi waved off to Ren. He paused when he saw Jack and Eva. "Although, I still have to mend differences with others." He walked by the Revenant coupled as Eva cautiously watched him leave.

"Hey, Eva. It's ok. I've forgiven Akechi. I think you should give him another chance," Jack suggested as he kissed her cheek.

Sighing, Eva complied with his wish. "If you say so, Jack. I'll tolerate him at best when I can."

"Anyway, who's down for some Big Bang Burger?!" Futaba asked her friends.

"Are you buying for all of us, Futaba?" Yusuke sardonically teased her.

"What do I look like, Inari? A yen tree?"

"It's fine, we'll all just buy for ourselves. No big deal," Ren shrugged.

As everyone headed out of the auditorium, Makoto stopped to grab Louis's arm. This also prompted Haru to pause and turn around to see what her two friends were doing.

"For the record, I know who Gregorio and Cruz are. They're from the wealthy Silva family. Can you tell me what I said is true?" Makoto asked Louis.

"Very deductive skills. Yeah, that's right."

"Having learned so much from their previous lives, you knew them well. I believe you and Cruz were even close before. Weren't you and her childhood friends and classmates for a time in your previous lives?"

"That's correct. All of what you said is true. Even in this reality, we still managed to connect. Once we reunited in this reality, we dated and studied together, but we recently broke up. After we broke up, that's when I met you and Haru-chan."

Makoto sighed seemingly with relief. "Oh, I see then. Also, tell me if Cruz was once subjected to experiments and made into a powerful incarnate named the Queen?"

Hearing this, Louis admitted. "Yes, She was the test subject of the Queen Project, but she made that choice to save humanity. Despite her frenzied state and losing all her senses, she hoped someone would hear out her pleas. And to clarify, Gregorio was our ally."

"And yet he doesn't remember you at all?" Makoto queried.

"No, he has no recollections from that time. Otherwise, he would task me with protecting Cruz now."

The policewoman let out a collective sigh and smiled. "I see. That's all I need to know."

"Why do you ask, Mako-chan?" Haru asked her.

Nodding, Makoto smiled and nodded. "Just needed confirmation. Now, c'mon, who's up for some Big Bang Burgers?"

"I certainly don't mind," Haru replied.

Glancing over his shoulder, Louis eyed the auditorium doors and frowned. He wondered if Gregorio and his daughter would ever regain their memories. He suspects if they do, they'll be searching for him to ask him a lot of questions. He also wondered if Cruz regained her memories, would her Queen power reawaken and cause her to go into a frenzied state?

His head became full of memories of his and Cruz's childhood, their time as students, and all of their previous friendly conversations. He even remembered the painful memories of being beside Cruz's bedside while she was undergoing unbearable pain from the various experiments being conducted on her before her complete conversion into the Queen. Her pained cries permeated his headspace, bringing cold chills and painful memories of Cruz's suffering. He also recalls the haunting image of Cruz's eyes turning dark blue and her body radiating with a blue aura. He also recalled after the Queen was slain by Sion and Jack, the Queen's blood came into contact with Sion as he gained her Blood Code and some of her abilities.

After his daughter's passing, Gregorio became the Successor of the Brain. He used this power and Blood Beads to conjure the Gaol of the Mists to contain Revenants and a potential Queen revival from infiltrating the outside world. At some point, after Mido infused him with relics and tried to remove the Gaol, Gregorio became frenzied and turned into the Skull King. With Sion and the other's help to stop the Skull King, who then transformed into the Virgin Born. After slaying the Virgin Born and when Io originally sacrificed herself by becoming the Weeping Tree, Gregorio was among those that recovered and helped reestablish the provisional government.

That was the last Louis had seen Gregorio before meeting his and Cruz's current selves. After regaining his memories, Louis couldn't believe he'd ever see these two again. Seeing and remembering Cruz again made Louis consider the possibility if she'll regain her memories.

"Louis? C'mon, we're leaving!" Yakumo called out, breaking Louis out of his deep thoughts.

"Come one, Louis. I know you need blood but eating a burger shouldn't be too bad," Haru said, walking him along as Makoto stood by waiting for them.

"Daydreaming about your old flame, Louis?" Makoto teased him.

"Let's go and get a bite," Louis replied.

"What would you do if she ever regained her memories?" Haru asked him.

"I guess I'd introduce you two to her, get her up to speed, and hope we all get along?" Louis surmised.

"Well, you don't even need to worry about that now," Makoto said.

"Yeah, for her sake, I hope she just lives the rest of her life in peace and moves on. Because I have you two now."

Hearing this, Makoto and Haru both smiled and held Louis's hands.

Big Bang Burger/Shibuya, Tokyo (渋谷区, 東京)/9:45 PM (JST)

After the conference speech, the Thieves and Revenants stopped by and ate burgers as planned. The group still discussed the Revenants' memories about Mido, Gregorio, and Cruz. Not surprisingly, the Revenants and Thieves chose to remain cautious about Mido's presence. This is even despite the possibility he doesn't have his old memories anymore. Louis wondered if he'll ever see Cruz again.

Before everyone left, Ren and Sumire were down to their last burgers. Exchanging nods, they munched on their burgers. They engulfed each bite, leaving nothing left on their plate.

However, when it came down to the final bite, Morgana urged Ren on. Sumire readily held the final piece and tossed her in her mouth.

"I… ugh," Ren collapsed as his last burger piece fell on his plate.

Inhaling her last bit, Sumire pumped her fist into the air and hollered. "I win!"

"Dude, this girl has a bottomless pit. Man, Ren, you didn't stand a chance," Ryuji gawked.

"That was so close, Ren," Morgana poked at Ren's face.

"I swear she's got an appetite that can rival a Saiyan's," Futaba became fixated on Sumire.

"Could this be the result of her passive abilities from her Persona's Ascendancy?" Yusuke wondered.

"It might be. It would explain the extra energy I get when I train with Mina," Ann said.

"Now that you mention it, my punches have become harder when I fight," Makoto noted her striking power.

"So, even in our normal routines we've inherited enhanced abilities," Morgana said.

"Well, I know I inherited my special abilities through Io," Hifumi said.

Louis rubbed his chin. "Hmm, our powers all tie back to Io. Us regaining our memories and Revenant nature, the Thieves gaining passive abilities from their Persona's Ascendancy, which they inherited from Io's power."

"Do you see the good you've done for us, Io? I don't know what we'd do without you," Skyler said as he head patted her.

Io smiled and nodded. "You'd be in trouble, I suppose."

"Which is why we're all thankful you've helped us," Hifumi said.

"Hey, you know what?" Sumire blinked as everyone turned toward her. "I could go for one more burger!"

Odaiba Seaside Park/Odaiba (お台場)/April 23, 2019 (2019423) (Reality: April 23, 2021))/8:15 PM (JST)

"Happy birthday, Mako-chan!" Haru announced as she, Makoto, and Louis raised wine glasses together.

"Thanks, you two. You didn't have to go through all that trouble since I don't make a big fuss out of my birthday these days. Besides, sis treated me to lunch today."

"We know, but you're with us now," Haru nodded.

"Because of work, we were already planning an outing with the others later in the week," a flustered Makoto tried downplaying her day. "Honestly, age is just another number and nothing more."

"Stop, today is your day, Mako-chan," Louis said, handing a small gift-wrapped box to Makoto.

"Here for you!" Haru smiled, giving the policewoman another small gift box.

As she unwrapped Haru's first, Makoto opened it and revealed a silver necklace. Smiling over Haru's gift, Makoto tried it on.

"Thanks, Haru-chan. It's pretty."

"How about my gift?" Louis smiled casually, waiting for her to open the second gift.

"I don't know if it can top a necklace."

"Try me, Mako-chan."

"Challenge accepted," Makoto replied firmly. She sternly checked the second gift-wrapped box and shook it.

"Just open it. I'm not Skyler. I wouldn't plant some prank in there."

As she carefully unwrapped it, Makoto opened the small box. Then, her stern gaze was replaced with a softened look.

"What is it, Mako-chan?"

"Louis, you didn't have to do this. Oh my god, my god!" A flustered Makoto took out a Buchimaru keychain. "Where in the world did you find this?!"

"A hobby store in Akihabara. I saw it and I remembered you mentioned Buchimaru when we played that Pokémon tournament."

With an endearing smile, Makoto dangled it in her face. "I'm going to treasure this. Thanks, Louis."

"Cheers to Mako-chan!" Haru clapped.

"And to many more years to our Queen!" Louis clapped with Haru.

Makoto smiled and nodded in approval. "And to more years of me dishing out justice."

Shinjuku Toho Building/Toho Cinemas Shinjuku/Kabukichō (歌舞伎町)/Shinjuku, Tokyo (新宿区, 東京)/April 26, 2019 (2019426) (Reality: April 26, 2021))/5:30 PM (JST)

Upon entering their theater, the Phantom Thieves, the Vein Remnants, and the Advent Eight found seats and sat in anticipation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's latest event: Avengers: Endgame. Shinya, Nicola, Reiko, and Li-Ming joined them before with the Dragon Ball Super Broly movie. Akane, Rin, Eugene, Anastasia, Nadia, and the Advent Eight were also invited and joined in the movie outing.

Some of the group cosplayed as the Marvel characters. Ren was dressed as Spider-Man. Ann cosplayed as Mary Jane Watson. Hifumi cosplayed as Captain America. Skyler was dressed as Bucky/The Winter Soldier. Makoto cosplayed as Iron Man. Haru cosplayed as Black Widow. Io cosplayed as Scarlet Witch. Fittingly enough, Akechi dressed as Loki. Although their cosplay characters weren't featured in any of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Marty and Andrea dressed as Cyclops and Jean Grey.

"Dudes, this is it. After all those Avengers movies, we're gonna be seeing the end of it all," Ryuji expressed his hype for this Avengers finale. "It's been a whole freakin' year since Infinity War!"

"Yes, time does fly when we're having fun, huh? Now that we've been active again," Haru said.

"Where did all that time go?" Ann added in her disbelief with the quick passage of time.

"Well, don't forget about the time reset thing caused by the Yami Matter," Makoto reminded everyone. "We should be in 2021 now and we would've already seen this movie."

"Yet, the Yami Matter messing with the timestream somehow made us forget all that happened with pop culture things," Skyler added. "Because I would've remembered seeing this movie."

"At least we'll get to experience it again even if the Yami Matter made us forget what happened!" Futaba said, sharing a big bucket of popcorn with Yusuke. "MmmpfIheardthismoviewas3hourslongmmmpf!"

"Huh? What the hell is she saying?" Nadia blinked.

Yusuke sighed. "Futaba, don't talk while you're eating. We can't even understand what you're trying to say."

As she swallowed her mouthful of popcorn, the otaku answered. "I said, I heard this movie was 3 hours long."

"You're kidding?" Tori balked at the film's running length.

"3 hours? Geez, I hope none of you drank too much soda 'cause I ain't gonna have y'all run by me while I'm watchin' the damn movie!" Ryuji remarked.

"Oh boy, my ass is going to be sore," Eugene whimpered.

"We'll need to tough it out, Eugene! We can do this!" Rin encouraged him with a drill sergeant tone, which only brought on more anxiety for Eugene.

"We're going to be watching this together, Eugene. It'll be ok," Sumire said. "And if your butt goes sore, we can make it feel better with some stretching."

"Thanks, you two," Eugene sighed happily around Sumire and Rin's company.

"Has everybody used the restroom before the movie?" Louis asked everyone.

Mostly everyone showed hands to indicate they utilized the restrooms. Reiko noticed Shinya didn't raise his hand.

"Hey, you didn't raise your hand, Shinya! And you were just drinking a ton of soda!"

"What? I'm not gonna pee my pants! I can hold it during movies."

Nicola reminded him. "Yes, but this is a 3-hour long movie."

Li-Ming demanded. "Go to the bathroom now!"

"Ugh, fine. I'll be back!" Shinya rushed out of the theater to take care of his business.

Anastasia giggled. "Oh dear, that poor boy."

"Geez, what was he thinking? Hey, Reiko, is Shinya this dense sometimes?" Akane asked her.

"Not really, he can be pretty sharp. But, gosh, what was he thinking holding in his bladder for over three hours?" Reiko sighed. "Oh, and Li-Ming, I really like your shirt. The animals on it are very cute!"

Akane noted Li-Ming's shirt. "Oh, that's adorable! Those are the Zodiacs, right?"

Li-Ming showed off her bright red shirt with miniature Zodiac animals. "Thanks, I bought this online. Since I'm a fan of the Zodiac animals and Fruits Basket, I thought 'why not?' My family and I are into traditional stories. And the theme goes well with my Shēngxiào spirits."

Nicola smiled. "We should do something together for the Chinese New Year next year."

Li-Ming nodded in approval. "Yeah, that'd be great!"

Akane nodded. "Make sure and remind me since I'll want to come into town."

"Hey, nice cosplay you two. Though Cyclops and Jean aren't MCU characters," Huey conversed with Marty and Andrea.

"Not yet at least," Andrea said.

"You think we'll see new versions of the X-Men one day?" Samantha wondered.

"Of course, because they always find ways to reboot these comic book characters," Lance stated.

"It's how they keep making money off them," Cammy commented.

Louis turned to Makoto, who was adjusting her Iron Man cosplay. "If you don't mind me asking, why did you choose to go as Iron Man? I figured you'd be Black Widow."

Makoto answered. "Well, for one, I let Haru be Black Widow. But, secondly…"

Interjecting, Skyler smirked as he listened to their conversation. "It's because I'm the Winter Soldier. And since my guy killed Tony's parents, this reinforces my rivalry with dear Mako-kins."

Makoto growled, biting her bottom lip. "You just love getting on my nerves do you?"

"I wouldn't be if we weren't friends, Mako-kins."

"And why did you go as Captain America, Hifumi?" Mia asked the Shogi player.

"Well, I see myself as a propaganda hero much like Captain America. He's very much a symbol for the United States just as I'm the 'face' of Japanese Shogi players."

"But, that's only because the media illustrated you as the symbol for Shogi players," Ren said, recalling his previous conversations with Hifumi after they first met at the church.

"Yes. Also, we both almost bought into the lies we've been fed and we proved ourselves to be humble heroes at the end of the day," Hifumi went on, explaining the symbolic connection between herself and Steve Rogers. "That's what a character like him means to me."

"That's very nice, Hifumi," Haru nodded.

"That's quite moving," Jack added. "Maybe we should've come in cosplay, Eva?"

"Maybe but I wouldn't know who to go as," Eva replied.

"Well as for me, it wasn't hard. After all, one of my Thief guises is named Loki," Akechi smugly expressed.

Jack ironically added. "Well, good for you."

Eva scoffed. "You mean dressing up as the guy who got killed in the opening scene in the last movie?"

Akechi waved a finger. "My dear, Eva. Never count out a trickster. He always finds ways to return in other forms. Though, I confess Loki is deader than dirt. I'm curious if there's even a future for him."

"So, what about you, Skyler?" Makoto raised a brow, giving him an irked glare. "Why else would you dress like the Winter Soldier?"

"Oh, Mako-kins. I thought you'd figure it out, but let me explain. Because in a way we're both super soldiers. Bucky was enhanced due to the Super Soldier serum. Me? I'm a Revenant. Revenants count as super soldiers enhanced through experiments. And since Steve and Bucky are best friends…" Skyler then put a hand on Hifumi's shoulder. "Me and Hifumi cosplaying as them would symbolize our love for each other."

Hifumi blushed. "Heh, oh Skyler…"

"Well, you look good in an armored suit anyway, Makoto," Hiroshi complimented his fellow officer.

"With you wearing it, it gives off serious Samus Aran vibes," Tori added.

"Samus from Metroid?" Makoto asked as she approvingly nodded. "Yeah, I like that comparison."

"Oh, I don't know. I think you look like a great Iron Woman but people often say I look like Tony Stark," a cool and collective voice chimed in, which quickly alarmed the Thieves. As they turned around, the Phantom Thieves saw a tall, well-built man with a square jaw, a riffed-style haircut, and a trimmed mustache sitting solitarily away from them. He came dressed in a black and white suit coupled with a black tie and dark sunglasses. "Hey, fancy seeing you guys here. Like my Tony Stark cosplay?"

"Konoe Akira?!" The Thieves exclaimed as the Vein Remnants and Advent Eight took notice of the Madicce CEO.

Of the group, Akane got up from her seat and gave an intense glare.

"You," Akane whispered loudly.

"This is the first time we're meeting since we've only encountered your Shadow self," Ren acknowledged.

"That's right. We never met the real Konoe Akira until now," Yusuke realized.

"So, what brings you here?" Ann asked him.

"What? I can't go out to the movies like any normal person? But, I'm glad to see you all here. I just wanted to let you know I'm sorry for all that happened back in Osaka."

"The dude totally looks like Tony Stark. Man, it's freakin' scary," Ryuji commented on Akira's perfect cosplay.

"He does, huh?" Miyako grinned.

"Don't forget about his money and being an owner of a billion-dollar company. Yeah, he is like a real-life Tony Stark," Futaba reminded them.

"We know it wasn't you but the EMMA program that manipulated those events and it was that app that caused you to indirectly manipulate Akane-chan," Makoto said.

"Akane? Do you think you'll find it in your heart to forgive me? We were both manipulated and ultimately victims of EMMA," Akira asked as the teenager averted her eyes and appeared unsure of what to think. "But, if you don't, I completely understand."

After a few moments recollecting her thoughts, Akane honestly spoke up. "I'm sorry. I didn't yell out like that. Look, I know you weren't completely there when you nearly had the Thieves arrested. I know too well what it's like being manipulated by an AI. My dad isn't fond of you and I shouldn't be either, but I'm willing to forgive you."

Hearing this, Akira smiled and felt a weight lifted from his shoulders. "That's all I could ever ask. Thanks, Akane."

"I do remember you guys told me about meeting Konoe Akira," Sumire said.

"It's true. Trust us this is our first time meeting him in person," Ren replied.

"Hey, Akane-chan. Don't worry. I know what it's like being manipulated but when you have friends by your side who still believe in you, you can overcome that darkness that tries to drag you down," Sumire openly spoke affectionately with the teenager, who smiled and nodded.

"That's right. You have us, Akane-chan," Makoto said.

"And us," Reiko spoke up as Shinya, Nicola, and Li-Ming nodded in unison.

"Thank you," Akane bowed with tears forming in her eyes.

"Whatever past grievances you may have had, I'm glad it's behind you now," Hifumi said.

"I'm glad they've been able to change the hearts of so many troubled people. It makes me kinda envious. I wish we could do the same," Skyler said, speaking on the Vein Remnants' behalf.

"I think we will get that chance. I have a good feeling about it," Louis stated.

After hearing this, the Advent Eight hoped they could live up with gaining reputations as well renowned as the Phantom Thieves. On the other hand, they realized they had a lot to work ahead of them.

Io gasped as the curtains opened. "The movie is about to start!"

"Hold up! I'm coming!" Shinya yelled out as he ran back to his seat. "Whew! Thanks, Reiko! I really needed to go after all!"

Reiko rolled her eyes. "It's because of all that soda and water you drank." She then handed him some M&M's candies. "Want some?"

"Yeah, don't mind if I do," Shinya took some chocolate candies.

Once the movie previews started, Io opened her box and saw the pizza laying in front of her eyes. She grabbed a slice and started licking the sauce as if it were blood, which elicited chuckles from the other Revenants.

"Oh, you're getting sauce on your face," Hifumi said, using a napkin to wipe Io's sauce-covered mouth.

"It's almost time. Man, hopefully, these previews end," Ryuji remarked, sipping his soda. He handed popcorn to Miyako, who sat beside him.

"Thanks, Ryuji."

"Time to see how Spider-Man comes back," Ren said.

"Well, c'mon, it's obvious," Ann whispered. "Far From Home is coming out soon."

"True, but I want to see how the Snap gets undone."

"We're going to find out one way or another," Makoto stated as she shared popcorn with Haru and Louis.

The group ultimately quieted down once the previews were halfway through.

Already 20 minutes into the movie, the group was in utter disbelief when Thor beheaded Thanos. If they weren't already invested in the movie, this scene left them questioning where the movie events were going to lead.

Then, Futaba muttered quietly as a sneaky grin curved on her face. "...time travel."

Yusuke sighed. "Please don't, Futaba."

"Zip it, brat!" Nadia gritted.

"Quiet please," Anastasia politely said.

The group then became immersed once the Avengers went through the time travel shenanigans.

"So, Back to the Future II time travel is BS, eh?" Ryuji whispered.

"Hey, we don't diss classics like Back to the Future here," Marty cut into Ryuji's conversation.

"I wasn't dissing it, dude."

Andrea chuckled. "No worries, Marty just happens to be a big fan of those movies."

"Man, I can't believe they went back to 2012!" Shinya quietly yelled.

"Sssh, why so surprised?" Nicola asked him.

"I still can't believe Thor got fat," Louis muttered.

"Dude, that was the biggest beer gut if I've ever seen one," Ryuji remarked about Thor's new appearance.

Haru sighed. "That poor guy lost everything."

Tori nodded. "I feel for him but I thought they could've handled his downward depression better than that."

Hiroshi muttered. "To be fair, people cope with depression differently than others."

The audience was shocked when 2012 Hulk smashed through the door, causing Tony to drop the briefcase and the Tesseract to fall out. They were more surprised when 2012 Loki snatched up the blue cube and portal jumped out of sight.

Akechi chuckled fiendishly and ever so proudly. "And look who showed up in the film? Who's laughing now?"

Eva sighed. "It's not the same one."

Jack shrugged. "Either way, Akechi somehow called it."

"Aw man… no way…" Ryuji facepalmed. "Now they gotta catch Loki?"

"No way, that can't be right!" Futaba shook her head in denial.

The scenes involving Thor meeting his mother again, Steve briefly seeing Peggy, and Tony interacting with his father elicited emotional responses from the ladies in the group. Even Reiko, Li-Ming, and Akane were taken in by these moments.

Black Widow's sacrifice shocked the group. None of them saw this coming. Haru, who cosplayed as the character, had her mouth covered in disbelief.

After Hulk used the Iron Gauntlet to perform the second Snap, the group was relieved when it was confirmed to have worked. Then, that ray of hope was shattered when 2014 Thanos and his army time warped into the Avengers' main timeline.

"No way, they just brought back all their friends!" Shinya cried out.

"I knew this was gonna happen. Too good to be true!" Futaba said.

When Captain America held Mjølnir, the audience became captivated when he went to town against Thanos. Hifumi wore an enthused expression as she quietly cheered on Captain America being worthy to wield Thor's weapon.

The biggest moment of the movie came when all of Earth's heroes, including the revived ones, came out of Doctor Strange's portals to aid the Avengers. Ren was most pleased to see Spider-Man back as those revived from the previous Snap. When Cap muttered the words 'Avengers… Assemble', the group along with the audience were emotionally charged.

Some parts during the final battle had certain group members invested. The ladies were excited about the all-female Avengers scene. Io cheered when Scarlet Witch beat down Thanos.

The final moments when Thanos fought off Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Captain Marvel had everyone on the edge of their seats. Their hearts nearly stopped when Thanos almost did the Snap until Captain Marvel stopped him.

Then, the moment when it looked like Thanos was about to erase everyone with the Snap, nothing happened. All eyes were on Tony, who grabbed the Infinity Stones from the villain and fitted them in his Iron Gauntlet.

"And I. Am. Iron Man!"

Snap.

Thanos and his forces were dusted.

The theater was silent throughout the rest of the movie. Between Tony Stark's sacrifice and Steve returning with past Peggy, the Thieves and the Revenants were speechless. The girls were in tears over the post-Endgame battle events. Even Ryuji was on the brink of tears seeing the end of this cinematic saga play out before his eyes.

The movie ended and the audience clapped for the end of Avengers: Endgame.

However, unlike their previous movie get-together experiences, the Thieves, the Revenants, and their colleagues were still speechless.

"Dudes, I can't believe that's how it all ends!" Ryuji yelled out. "I knew either Tony or Steve was going to die, but man how that went down!"

Hifumi smiled. "In a way, I'm happy Steve didn't die. He got to be with his beloved and passed the shield to his friend."

Skyler turned to Makoto. "But, Tony did die. I'm surprised that didn't make you break down."

Makoto smirked coyly. "It wasn't until he died in front of Pepper and the others. And then that funeral. That got to me. Tony died a hero."

Akira concurred. "That's exactly why I cosplayed as him tonight. He's a man who I admire. He has his own sense of justice and is not afraid to speak his mind."

"I enjoyed Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel beating up Thanos," Io openly conveyed some of her favorite parts of the movie.

"Well, that was a movie, but wow that sure didn't feel like 3 hours," Mia pointed out how quickly the long-running time flew by.

"My butt thankfully isn't sore," Eugene sighed with relief over this.

"See? But, we are still going to stretch those glutes!" Sumire declared enthusiastically.

"And I'll be sure to join in and make sure you stretch properly," Rin added.

"Well, I know if our butts start getting sore, I can count on you to massage mine, Nadia," Anastasia smirked, winking to the darker-skinned Elven Princess.

Chuckling, Nadia rubbed the bridge of her nose. "Heheh, and I can leave it to your large boobs to massage mine."

Anastasia laughed coyly. "Oho, I aim to please!"

"Good thing we all used the bathrooms before the movie started. Right, Shinya?" Nicola teased his friend.

"Oh, shut up," Shinya scoffed.

"I think because I enjoyed it enough that it didn't feel like three hours," Akane commented.

"And I told y'all time travel would come into play! But, nooo, a few of ya didn't believe me!" Futaba said this as she stared directly at Yusuke.

"Because I didn't think they'd implement that into the film. It was my speculation, but I didn't think they'd pull it off," Yusuke said.

"Whatever, Inari. Now, I gotta get some collectible figures for Iron Man and Spidey!"

"It's kinda sad that DC totally dropped the ball. They could've done more with their movies and built up Justice League to be big, but nope," Louis remarked.

"Yep, they blundered that, but hey they're trying now," Yakumo said.

"I had a great time, Yakumo," Emily added.

"That was a good time at the movies. It was well worth the money," Lance commented.

Yeah, and we got to spend it with friends," Cammy stated, acknowledging that it was worth hanging out with the other Advent Eight members, the Thieves and Vein Remnants.

"Hey, Makoto, thanks for the invite. Hiroshi and I enjoyed our time!" Tori said.

"We should do this more often but maybe in smaller groups?" Hiroshi suggested.

Makoto smiled and nodded. "That sounds like a plan. I'll pass that idea along to Haru and Louis."

"Looks like we all enjoyed our outing," Skyler said as he saw some people approach them. "And now our cosplays are attracting quite a sizable crowd."

"You guys are cosplaying popular and well-known characters. What do you expect?" Jack chuckled.

"Then, why don't we give them what they want?" Hifumi offered.

With that, Ren, Ann, Skyler, Hifumi, Makoto, Ann, Haru, Io, and Akira posed together for an Avengers group shot. Ann especially embraced this opportunity to pose and show off her MJ cosplay. Another sizable crowd arrived to take pictures of Akechi's Loki cosplay. Even Marty and Andrea got attention with their X-Men cosplay. After taking a few photoshoots, the group left the theater with memories of their experience.

After finishing their photo group shots, the Advent Eight, Shinya's friends, Akane, Akira, and the Elven Princesses left early before the others.

On the way out, the Thieves and the Vein Remnants walked past the large Avengers: Endgame poster hanging beneath the Godzilla statue. Unbeknownst to them, numerous distorted figures materialized and became the familiar Marvel Cinematic Universe characters. Of the iconic characters that appeared: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, War Machine, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Winter Soldier, Loki, Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, Groot, Mantis, Nebula, Pepper Potts, Ronin, Wasp, Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, Valkyrie, Nick Fury, and Phil Coulson.

Then, as waves of ethereal light spread over the movie poster, the Marvel poster characters subtly came to life, which was the direct reaction toward the Yami Matter's latest distortions. Their eyes keenly observed the audiences leave the theaters, including the Phantom Thieves and the Vein Remnants. They lay their sights on Shinjuku and secretly monitored any Yami Matter presence as if someone from another reality was peering into this side of reality.

Underground Facility/Shinjuku, Tokyo (新宿区, 東京)/April 27, 2019 (2019427) (Reality: April 27, 2021)/5:45 PM (JST)

In the months since reawakening into Revenants, Karen and Aurora tirelessly worked on a method to help overcome their thirst for blood. Having realized that they couldn't create Blood Beads without the proper resources. Without blood or Blood Beads to sustain them, the Revenants frenzying out and turning into Lost was still a real danger, which they couldn't afford to allow to happen.

The solution was to create a new Bloodspring. With help from Io, Karen and Aurora figured out she retained elements of the Weeping Tree. With his knowledge of engineering, Louis was recruited by Karen to assist him. Skyler, who regained all of his abilities as the Successor of the Blood, was tasked to grow a new Bloodspring. Having recalled herself as the source of the Blood Beads and the Successor of the Heart, Karen helped to create that new Bloodspring and grow Blood Beads in modern times.

However, they couldn't simply do this while in public or the comfort of their own homes. Karen and Aurora suggested an isolated enclosure that was out of public reach. They discovered an underground tunnel in Shinjuku Central Park in western Shinjuku prefecture. Upon descending further through the tunnel, they found an abandoned and underground facility, which they picked as the new Bloodspring location.

Opening the doors for them, Karen, Aurora, Louis, Skyler, Io, and Haru entered a spacious chamber. Once a space with nothing but empty canisters and boxes, they faced a room with bulbous red orbs filling the floor like a flower bed garden. The stench of artificial blood filled the room, which elicited the Revenant's thirst for blood. Haru could smell the blood as well.

"Welcome to our new Bloodspring," Karen welcomed Haru in.

"This is so…" Haru was taken in by the ironic beauty of the Blood Bead garden.

"This is where the Blood Bead productions will take place. In case you haven't heard from either myself and Aurora, well you can surmise where we've been lately," Karen said.

"Big sis and Aurora have been keeping busy," Louis smirked. "But, I've been helping them out, too. Likewise, Skyler's been a big help as well."

"We all did our parts and successfully reproduced a Bloodspring, which should hopefully resolve our blood shortage problem," Io stated.

"At least it saves us the trouble of having our girlfriends voluntarily giving us their blood. As much as Hifumi doesn't mind feeding me, I feel bad," Skyler said.

"Yeah, I can't be asked to let either Haru-chan here or Mako-chan sacrifice their blood to keep me from frenzying or even suggesting buying blood from a meat market," Louis said.

"Oh, I don't mind! Really, I don't!" Haru confessed. As Louis walked up to her, he patted her shoulders.

"I just saved you the trouble, Haru. But, I'm glad you're here. I know you're wonderful with gardening and handling plants."

"I am. You know I grow my own vegetables."

"I'd like to ask if you'd be willing to help us watch the Bloodsprings? Perhaps you could give Karen and Aurora some tips on how to better care for the Blood Beads. I believe a green thumb like yours would be beneficial."

Gazing into Louis's determined eyes, Haru mulled over this offer to lend some help for the Revenants.

"Don't worry. If you're not up to it, it's quite ok," Aurora said.

"I'd be more than happy to assist you," Haru beamed as she walked in and glanced over the Blood Bead garden. Kneeling over, she picked up a Blood Bead and examined its soft texture. The single red orb glowed with life, captivating Haru's interest. "It's so beautiful."

"So, that's a definite 'yes'?" Louis asked the Beauty Thief.

"Yes, I'm in," Haru nodded. "So, do the others know?"

"All of us Revenants with our full memories do. They've all been filled in and will come here to get their Blood Bead shares," Karen said as she hooked an IV needle through her right arm. "And you needn't worry about me dying of blood loss. As the Successor of the Heart, my sole purpose is to be the producer of the Bloodspring. Right now, I'll have to produce more Blood Beads."

"I understand," Haru nodded.

"Here, let me, Karen," Aurora insisted, gently shoving the needle into Karen's arm.

"Tch, heh. You love being gentle with me."

Aurora winked. "I can't let you hurt yourself now, love."

"How long will this take?" Haru asked.

"A few minutes. Don't worry this won't take long," Io said as they witnessed the blood drawn from Karen being collected into blood packets. Having harvested an ample amount of blood, Karen converted her blood into small round beads, which Aurora placed on the Blood Bead garden.

"One of us has to stay and guard this place. So, I'll be here with Karen most of the time but Davis, Coco, and Rin have each volunteered to guard this facility against intruders. They could be anyone from The Consortium or those Vamkyries that occasionally pop up," Aurora proposed for the others.

"If you need any of us to help, then we're here, sis," Louis offered.

"That's right. Call us and we'll be there," Skyler vowed.

"Thanks, you two," Karen smiled.

"So, are you not at all creeped out with this place, Haru?" Louis asked her.

"No, I've seen creepier. Besides, being here brings me comfort oddly enough."

"You're a strange one, Haru-chan, but that's what I like you the most."

Haru blushed. "Thank you, I guess."

"Ready to get going, Io?" Skyler asked, watching the pale Revenant collecting some Blood Beads. "Just a moment."

"I think we should head back. I know Mako-chan's still out working."

"Don't worry. We can stay here a little longer if you want," Haru said, admiring the Blood Beads around her. Louis sat down and gazed over the red beaded garden.

Skyler and Hifumi's Apartment/Hamamatsuchō (浜松町)/Minato, Tokyo (港区, 東京)/May 1, 2019 (201951) (Reality: May 1, 2021)/10:37 AM (JST)

"Welcome, mother and father," Hifumi greeted her parents as she opened the door for them.

"This is the place you're sharing with this man?" A near middle-aged woman with long brown hair and garbed in a turquoise-colored dress walked in. She has a very frugal disposition, which was a contrast to Hifumi's demure demeanor.

"Yes, mother," the young woman nodded, bowing her head.

"Hifumi, it's been a long while. How beautiful you've become," a slightly older man with short dark hair. The sides of his head are faded with most of that hair having been shaved. He had a thinly trimmed mustache and goatee. He came dressed in a sharp dark gray suit coupled with similar colored pants, a black tie, and dark brown shoes. Unlike his wife, he has a friendlier disposition.

"Father," Hifumi smiled as she kindly bowed to the man.

Mitsuyo sighed. "Are you coming in, Satoshi?"

"Of course," Satoshi answered his wife as they took off their shoes and entered the living room to meet with Skyler.

"Greetings, Mitsuyo-san and Satoshi-san."

As the couple sat down, Skyler set down a tray of tea and small sandwiches to dine on. Hifumi poured cups for herself, Skyler, her mother, and her father.

Sipping some tea, Mitsuyo set her cup down and cleared her throat. "So, Hifumi. Is this boy not the same one you showed us not too long ago? He looks familiar."

"That's because I am that same person. I'm Skyler Jones."

"But, wasn't your name Sion?"

"That's a nickname your daughter gave me. My real name is Skyler Jones."

"I see," Mitsuyo muttered while her brows furrowed and her tone suggested she was not pleased with being made a fool of. "What is it like being Hifumi's partner? Do you enjoy her company?"

"Yes, ma'am. I do."

"You speak our language quite fluently. I'm glad there's no language barrier between you two," Satoshi added, most pleased with his daughter possibly learning a second language.

"Hifumi is learning from my English pretty well. So much so she mixes English words with her Japanese dialogue."

"Understand this, Skyler. I've been very hesitant to allow Hifumi to date any man she wants," Mitsuyo confessed her concerns for her daughter's choices. "This is most especially the case with foreigners."

"Mother!" Hifumi openly disproved her mother's disparaging remark.

"I was most shocked to learn that an American man happens to be sharing a space with my daughter. I didn't know what to think. However, judging by how you conduct yourself and have taken care of Hifumi, perhaps you're not so bad. Satoshi seems to think so and he's convinced me to trust you with our daughter."

Hearing this, Skyler felt a heavy burden lifted off his back. He initially didn't think Hifumi's parents would entrust him to protect their daughter.

"Hifumi, are you happy in your current conditions living with Skyler?" Satoshi asked the young woman.

"I am, father. I couldn't be happier living anywhere else, but with Skyler." She leaned next to Skyler and grasped his hand.

"Then, we leave you to care for our daughter, Skyler Jones. Surely, you won't disappoint us," Mitsuyo stated.

"If Hifumi is happy, then we are, too," Satoshi expressed his approval of their relationship.

Having been given their blessing, Skyler and Hifumi exchanged genuine smiles knowing their relationship wouldn't be hindered by the Togos's approval or disapproval. This further cemented that Hifumi and Skyler would be in for a long-term commitment.

Watching her parents leave, Hifumi waved to them and closed the door. She and Skyler then embraced in each other's arms and kissed. Skyler had the back of his hands around Hifumi's waist. Hifumi's arms rested on Skyler's shoulders.

Just as the couple made out, an envelope slipped through the front door's letter slot. The couple heard and noticed the envelope trimmed with a silver lining. Skyler picked up the envelope and opened it.

"What is it, Skyler?" Hifumi asked. "My parents didn't forget to give us something, did they?"

Upon reading the letter, Skyler's brows furrowed. He handed the letter for her to read. She became shocked by whom the letter came from.

"Skyler, this is…"

"We've been invited to a formal event by... The Consortium."

A/N: This chapter marks the second monster-of-the-week battle that'll be scattered throughout this story. These will be short mini-battles and won't matter much in the long term, but it allows me to include mini-boss battles in my novels. The Kuchisake-onna was decided because of her infamous reputation and is widely considered the most well-known Japanese urban legend. During this battle, Mia achieves her Envoy form and thus completes the four Envoy awakenings.

Shinya and his friends enter their first year in high school. We'll see if Shinya can survive Sae's lover.

With another chapter, we have another spicy lemon scene. This one ft. Sumire, Rin, and Eugene. Wow, Rin is enjoying herself too much!

Our protagonists watch and listen to Juzo Mido's lecture. Needless to say, he doesn't have his memories. Neither do Gregorio and Cruz. That said, the Vein Remnants haven't forgotten all of the atrocities that Mido has caused.

Oh yeah, Morgana is going to be having bad dreams of Eon's voice haunting him. If you want a voice reference, Eon's voice is Andy Serkis's Gollum. That's a pretty creepy voice to hear in your sleep.

In this chapter, we also get Makoto's birthday and Sumire showing us as the glutton she is.

The Avengers: Endgame scenes are pretty similar to the Dragon Ball Super: Broly theater experience. And this one has a few of the cast cosplay as Marvel characters. Originally, Haru and Io weren't going to cosplay, but since Makoto wasn't cosplaying as Black Widow (who only went as Iron Man to counter Skyler being Bucky and Hifumi being Captain America), her girlfriend Haru can be Black Widow. Akechi as Loki is fitting considering that name is his dark codename. Konoe Akira has been added not only to cosplay as Tony Stark (which because, why not) and to resolve matters in person with the Thieves and Akane.

This chapter's Urban Myths are the MCU characters.

This chapter also debuts and gives insight into the development of a modern-day Bloodsprings network. Now, the Revenants will have a fresh supply of blood to last them a long time.

Hifumi's mother needed no introduction since we've seen her in the game, but this is the introduction of Hifumi's father. He's never revealed or named, so I've named him Satoshi for the sake of this story. He makes a great contrast to (what I recall of) Mitsuyo's rigid personality.

This was a nice and calm chapter to write. Tensions are set to escalate with The Consortium soon. And to those who question if we'll see tension involving The Consortium, I can safely say: yes. Kirari and her crew are just the appetizers.

That's all to cover this chapter. Next time, our protagonists meet The Consortium.

As always, leave a comment and review. Later!
