A/N: Hello everyone, I am back with the next chapter of this story. Here, we deal with the aftermath of last time.
Disclaimer: I don't own the Loud House
Rita and Lynn Sr. were frantic. Lynn Sr. paced back and forth hoping to see Vanzilla pull up in the driveway. Meanwhile, Rita was making phone calls trying to track Lori down. A knock came at the door and Lincoln answered to fine a female police officer.
"Aren't you the officer who arrested my mom?" asked Lincoln.
Hearing herself be mentioned, Rita turned and saw the officer.
"Officer Schoffner, have you found Lori?" asked Rita.
Lynn Sr. rushed into the room.
"Where is she?! Where's my baby?!" asked Lynn Sr. frantically.
"Mr. and Mrs. Loud...there's been an accident." began Officer Schoffner.
"What kind of accident?" asked Rita worried.
"Your fan nearly avoided a head on collision with a semi then rolled down an embankment." answered Officer Schoffner solemnly.
Lynn Sr. felt his knees go weak.
"Your daughter is alive." revealed Officer Schoffner.
"Oh, Thank God!" cried Lynn Sr. relieved.
"However, she is in critical condition." added Officer Schoffner.
"How bad?" asked Rita worried.
"If she wasn't wearing her seatbelt, she'd be dead." answered Officer Schoffner.
This hit Lynn Sr. and Rita like a ton of bricks.
"Once I recognized it was your daughter, I had her sent to Royal Woods General Hospital where she's in the ICU. I also wanted to tell you personally." explained officer Schoffner.
"Thank you." replied Rita grateful.
"Kids, we're going to the see Lori! Luna is charge!" called Lynn Sr.
Luna raced down stairs as she joined her others siblings who were listening in.
"I want to go too. After what I've been through, I can handle it." said Luna.
Leni stepped up to the top of the stairs.
"I'll totes be okay being in charge while you're gone." stated Leni.
"Okay." agreed Rita.
Three left and piled into Officer Schnoffer's car. Rita sat in the front while Lynn Sr. and Luna sat in the back. Luna was comforting her father and could heart Officer Schoffner doing the same for her mother. They arrived and the three thanked Officer Schoffner before racing inside. They went to the front desk and revealed who they were after which they were escorted to Lori's room by a nurse who they knew as a friend of Maria Santiago.
"This won't be pretty." warned the nurse.
The Louds were devastated by what they saw. Lori was lying in a hospital unconscious with cuts and bruises all over her body. Her left eyes was blackened. She had a bandage around her head, neck and around both arms as well.
"I'll get the doctor." said the nurse solemnly.
"My baby!" sobbed Lynn Sr.
Lynn Sr. dropped to his hands and knees sobbing uncontrollable. His wife bent down and held him.
"Let it out honey." said Rita.
Meanwhile, Luna felt surreal.
"That easily could have been me." noted Luna.
Horrors of the future yet to come she avoided left Luna dazed.
"Excuse me." said a voice.
The three spotted an African America doctor in the doorway.
"My name is Doctor Jackson." said the doctor.
Rita helped Lynn Sr. back to his feet.
"I'm Rita and this is Lynn Sr. my husband and Lori's father." said Rita.
Rita looked at Luna was still frozen.
"That is another daughter of ours Luna." said Rita.
Luna shook her head.
"I'm here." stated Luna.
Doctor Jackson took Lori's medical chart.
"Lori has a concussion, a nasty gash on her head, minor internal bleeding which she stopped with emergency surgery." began Doctor Jackon.
"Oh God." gasped Lynn Sr.
"The glass also sliced up her arms and neck. She's lucky no major arteries or veins were damaged." added Doctor Jackson.
Doctor Jackson looked through the chart to make sure he didn't miss anything.
"Yes, she also has whiplash from the crash." added Doctor Jackson.
"Thank you." said Rita.
"I should note her blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit." noted Doctor Jackson bluntly.
"We had a fight about that recently." revealed Rita.
"There is an ongoing criminal investigation. Likely DUI and reckless endangerment, but I'm no lawyer." warned Doctor Jackson.
"How can we afford that?" asked Lynn Sr.
"We can help. Pop Pop, Myrtle, Aunt Ruth, your father and Aunt Shirley." answered Rita.
"I'd hate to borrow money from them." confessed Lynn Sr.
"Are you worried about thinking you're a bad father?" asked Rita.
"Yes." answered Lynn flatly.
"They know you're a great father." said Rita.
"If money is issues you can get a court appointed attorney." noted Doctor Jackson.
"See, things will work out." said Rita.
"Doc, is Lori going to be, okay?" asked Luna.
"She will recover but, may have minor scaring. She might also need physical therapy." answered Doctor Jackson.
Rita, Lynn Sr. and Luna looked at Lori.
"It's a miracle she survived." mused Doctor Jackson.
Lori lay unconscious in her bed.
"I can set you up with counselling if you want." offered Doctor Jackson.
"I think that might be a good idea." replied Rita.
"I've got the AA angle covered." added Luna.
Doctor Jackson gave Luna a surprised look.
"I was in a similar situation." noted Luna.
"Well, I'm happy to see Lori has a strong supportive family." stated Doctor Jackson.
Doctor Jackson left to check on other patients.
"What do we tell the kids?" asked Lynn Sr.
"Luan might be able to handle it, but I don't think the others need too many details." answered Rita.
The three stayed a bit longer before they had to go. Luna stopped by Lori one last time before leaving.
"Please God let Lori be okay." whispered Luna.
At the Loud house, the situation was tense. Lincoln sat on the couch with Lola on his right, Lisa on his left and Lily on his lap. Luan sat hugging her knees while Lana curled up in the doggy bed with Charles. Lynn was trying to keep herself busy with sit-ups, nobody knew where Lucy was (which was normal) and Leni sat in the chair looking up at the ceiling.
"I can't believe this is happening." groaned Leni.
"It's not your fault." muttered Luan.
"There like, must have been warning signs." replied Leni.
Leni hung her head.
"If I wasn't so stupid..." began Leni.
"You're not stupid!" declared Lincoln.
"You have brilliant fashion sense; you are the most caring person we know and can pick locks." noted Luan.
"Thanks guys." sighed Leni.
"Linky, Lori is going to be okay right?" asked Lola worried.
"I'm sure she will." answered Lincoln.
Lincoln waited for Lisa to say something about how it would depend on her injuries, but she stayed quiet.
"You okay Lisa?" asked Lincoln concerned.
"I am attempting to comprehend the situation." answered Lisa.
"I'm surprised mom and dad didn't take you since you're a genius and all." noted Lynn.
"While I may have a genius intellect, I am both physically and emotionally a toddler thus or parental unite likely did not think I have the capacity to handle seeing Lori injured." said Lisa.
Everyone else gave a blank look.
"Mom and dad probably thought I was too young to handle it." said Lisa annoyed.
"But, Lori will be okay?" asked Lana, as worried as her twin.
"Royal Woods General Hospital might not be big, but it has a solid staff whom I have worked with on medical projects. She is in good hands." said Lisa.
That seemed to improve the overall mood.
"Thanks." whispered Lincoln gratefully.
"Now is the time to feel hopeful about the situation at hand." said Lisa.
Lincoln gave a confused look.
"It's time to be hopeful." sighed Lisa.
"I'm surprised you're not more upset with Lori considering what happened between you." said Lynn.
"Can you please stop, it's annoying me." requested Lola.
"It's how I cope." stated Lynn.
"To answer your question, I can forgive especially since Lori and I are siblings." revealed Lisa.
"When will mom, dad and Luna be back?" asked Lana worried.
"Soon. I'm sure." answered Lincoln.
"How are we going to do this intervene...thing?" asked Lola.
"Intervention." said Lynn.
"Luna is charge of that." answered Lincoln.
"Are we taking part too?" asked Lana.
"I believe it is our best interest to do so thus Lori will get the message as it were." answered Lisa.
The kids heard a car pulling up.
"They're back." said Lucy.
Everyone jumped.
"Where have you been?!" asked Lola surprised.
"I've been here the whole time." answered Lucy.
The others felt guilty.
"I'm used to it." shrugged Lucy.
Everyone raced to the front door. Rita opened moments later.
"Where's Lori?" asked Lincoln.
"Is she okay?" asked Leni.
"She's coming home, right?" asked Lana.
"She will be coming home, right?" asked Lola.
"Calm down." ordered Rita tired.
Rita entered followed by Luna who was comforting her father.
"You okay dad?" asked Luan worried.
"I'm worn out." answered Lynn Sr.
Luna led Lynn Sr. to the couch and laid him down.
"Lori was in a crash accident." revealed Rita.
There were gasps of horror.
"Lori was hurt pretty bad by the crash, but will survive." added Rita.
"When can we see her?" asked Lola.
"We want to go tomorrow." added Lana.
"Dudes, right now that is not a good idea." said Luna.
"And why not?" asked Lola indignant.
"Because Lori needs to rest." answered Luna.
"Did she say anything?" asked Lincoln.
"She was...sleeping when we got there." answered Luna hastily.
Luan squinted her eyes as she could tell something was amiss.
"How long till she gets back?" asked Lucy.
"It'll be a while." answered Luna.
"She will be okay though, right?" asked Leni worried.
"Yes, but it be a long time until she's back to one-hundred percent." answered Rita.
"We Louds are tough. I've bounced back from a ton of injuries." said Lynn Jr.
"This is a bit different." noted Lisa.
"And wasn't caused by trying to roller blade down the stairs." added Lincoln.
"I did that once!" declared Lynn Jr.
"It's late and you need to go to bed." said Rita.
The kids began to protest
"Now!" declared Rita.
The Loud siblings went up the stairs allowing Rita to focus on her husband.
"Let's go to bed honey." said Rita.
"Okay." agreed Lynn Sr. flatly.
Upstairs, Lisa pulled Luna aside.
"I assume Lori is seriously injured." said Lisa.
"Yeah, she is." confirmed Luna sadly.
Lisa waddled off and the kids got ready for bed. Both Luna and Luan waited until Leni was showering then they both met in their room.
"We need to talk." said Luna and Luan in unison.
"That was weird." noted Luna.
"What's really going on?" asked Luan.
"No pulling the wool over your eyes." muttered Luna.
The two sat on the lower bunk.
"Lori got messed up badly." confessed Luna.
"How bad?" asked Luan worriedly.
"She'll be okay, but she might need physical therapy." answered Luna.
Luan gasped in horror.
"She's cut up and the doctor said she's lucky nothing major was cut. She has a black eye, a cut on her skull, whiplash and they need to do surgery to stop internal bleeding." explained Luna somberly.
The usually comedic Luan found nothing to joke about here.
"Don't tell anyone else, they don't need to know." ordered Luan.
"Of course, not." agreed Luan flatly.
A/N: That's where we'll end things for now. So, Lori survived, but was seriously injured by the crash. Next time, words spreads and we see how Lori is doing. Please review.
