Hey, Dark Gothic Lolita here!
So this pairing has been haunting me since I wrote 'cloud to ground.' Someone over on AO3 also mentioned how this is their like guilty pleasure of a pairing and there are like no stories for them. I decided to indulge in it and see what other stories I could come up with for this pairing.
I don't own Fairy Tail and I'm sorry for the poor grammar and spelling. I can have no excuse other than laziness for proof-reading properly and not even trying to look for a beta reader.
ENJOY!

"Laki? What are you doing here?"
The lilac haired mage smiled a little bit as she came into the infirmary with a tray of food. "Mira's super busy right now, so a few of us are tending to you and your team. Elfman decided to take charge of Evergreen, despite her not wanting it. Wendy is overshadowing to make sure he doesn't hurt her or anything. I thought I'll help out too, since I won't be fighting or anything."
Laxus nodded as he relaxed and sighed while laying there, staring at the ceiling. Laki bit her lip as she looked over at him. She still couldn't believe the fact that someone had attacked him and his team, what chance did anyone else stand? Someone like her who was just made to be a side character didn't have any chance in trying to fight any of the demons. She could be eaten for breakfast.
"Are you okay?"
Laki was pulled away from her thoughts as she glanced over at the man in the bed. She gave him a small nod of the head before walking over to him.
"It should be me asking you that. How are you feeling? Do you need me to change any bandages or anything? Master said that you haven't eaten anything in a while and that if you refuse, I'm well within my rights to try and force you. Seeing as we both know I'm not strong enough to do that, please make my life a little easier and try to eat something. You don't even have to eat the whole thing, just a few bites here and there to show your gramps that you did attempt to eat."
She looked him in the eyes when she finished speaking and saw that he was grinning at her. She couldn't help herself as she felt her body heat up. Was she rambling on too much or something? How embarrassing, now he's going to laugh at her!
"You're cute when you ramble, you know that?"
Laki almost passed out, but she managed to hold herself together as she rolled her eyes, trying her best to act indifferent.
"Gee thanks. I bet you tell that to all the cute girls who ramble."
She had been called cute many times before, so why did it matter when Laxus said it? It shouldn't, right? She shouldn't care. She knew that many men were all surprised by her looks the most over the last seven years. After all, she could have easily been a model to rake in enough money for the guild, but the photographer was an absolute creep, so no.
Laxus calling her cute meant nothing. He said it to many girls before and he'll say it to many girls again. Although, he had definitely changed from the pervert he once was. Either he was still a major pervert and he hid it really well, or his excommunication actually did him some good.
Still, the more she looked at him, the more she couldn't deny that he was an extremely handsome man and that wasn't fair. He had the body of a god and that just so happened to be her preferred body type when it came to men. With the magic she had, it was sometimes a bit too easy to snap things in half. Even when she high fived someone who wasn't on the same level of strength or higher than her could get really hurt. She hated to admit it, but she had shattered many people's bones in the past from such a simple action. Someone like Laxus who was nothing but a broad shouldered man with muscles that rippled more than a lake when she skipped a stone was just her go to kind of man.
"Gotta admit, you're the first one I've said it to, Olietta."
Laki literally shivered at the way he said her last name. There should have been nothing special about the way he said it, but it really set her off in a way that it shouldn't have. How did he even know her last name anyway? She wasn't important to him for him to take any notice of her. She needs to calm down here.
"Hmm, sure."
She had nothing else to say because if she did open her mouth, more verbal vomit would come flooding out and then she'll end up saying something that will really get in a lot of trouble and that was the last thing that she wanted.
She brought the tray over to him and looked for a decent place to put it.
"I can take it from here."
She gave him an unsure look. He was injured and she didn't really think that leaving the tray on his legs would really help for his recovery.
"Are you sure? You're injured."
Laxus scoffed at her and rolled her eyes. "Yeah, injured not a fucking invalid. Just give it to me. I'm starving anyway."
Laki shrugged her shoulders and gave it to him. He winced as he reached out for the tray and Laki stepped closer, slapped his hands away and dumped it on his lap gently. He gave her a dirty look because he felt like she was still treating him like some sort of invalid, but she rolled her eyes back and sat down in the seat next to his bed.
"You are straining to reach and it's such an eyesore. Besides, if your wounds reopen again, I'm going to get the blame and I would rather not get the blame for anything like that, thanks. Now hurry up so that I can be on my way outta here."
Laxus snorted. "Why are you acting like you don't want to be in my presence?"
"Because I don't."
He smirked and shook his head as if he knew something that she didn't. Laki hoped she wasn't being obvious and giving herself away. She had liked him for so long, but she always thought that there was something going on between him and Mira, so she backed off. Not like she was much of a competition to Mira anyway. With her beautiful looks and her innocent, charming personality, she was well liked everywhere she went. She was even an S class mage, showing how powerful she was.
"I am quite literally a nobody. Laxus would never look at a girl like me."
And just the sheer thought of that hurt a lot. She held back a sigh so that she wouldn't catch Laxus' attention before she watched him eat. He was eating quickly, but not in a disgusting way. She found herself smiling as she watched him.
"I guess he wasn't joking when he said he was starving."
Eventually, he finished all the contents on his plate and practically sat back with a satisfied sigh. He turned his head and gave Laki a little smile.
"That was great. Thanks for that."
She shook her head as she smiled and stood up. "Don't thank me, thank Mira for the meal. She was the one who cooked it."
He hummed and watched as she leaned forward to pick up the tray. He couldn't help himself as he took a subtle sniff of her. Her scent was alluring, along with her figure and her hard to get personality. She had really filled out over the years and he was sure she was around one or two years older than him. Not like that made a difference to him.
As she grabbed the tray, his hand brushed against hers, startling the wood make mage. Her eyes were wide from the contact that sent electricity running down her spine and she wasn't sure if he had done that on purpose or if it was that typical feeling that was written about in books.
"Well, at least let me thank you for something. Thanks for bringing me the food and keeping me company."
Laki blinked and fought hard and well to keep the blush off of her face as she nodded like nothing affected her.
"No problem. I can't promise if it will always be me to bring you some food, but yeah."
"Before you go, do you know how the rest of my team is?"
Laki's eyes were soft when she watched how serious Laxus was. They were all practically siblings, of course he would care for his team. His excommunication really did do him some good, because she was pretty sure he never cared about their well being before.
"Evergreen is giving Elfman hell, Bickslow has all his 'babies' running around him and Freed is crying that he's unable to see you."
"Tch, so they're just fine then."
Even though he said it like that, Laki could see the smile on his face. His team is fine and so is he. They all just have to get stronger for whatever else is coming their way.
"Yup! Don't forget how strong your team is."
"Trust me, I don't."
Laki nodded and smiled. "I guess I'll see you when I see you."
Laxus grunted, clearly tired from eating such a heavy meal and Laki left the room. She exhaled heavily and smiled to herself, happy that she was finally able to have a conversation with her crush.
Laxus wouldn't tell anyone, but he was a little disappointed when he didn't see Laki come back to give him his food. Porlyusica had been watching him like a hawk, making sure that his recovery was going well. Where he had taken the most amount of damage from the devil particles, it was taking longer for the antidote to hit.
There was a knock at the door and Porylusica barked her usual "come in." There she was, in all her purple headed glory, no cape, just bruises and tattered clothes. He almost panicked and sat up to make sure she was okay, but not once did she look at him.
"I've got the bigger blood sample that you requested for."
Both their eyes widened when they saw that she was holding a jar full of blood. Porlyusica almost spluttered as Laki held it out to her with a straight face. She didn't really understand their hesitation and she frowned a little bit, thinking she didn't get enough blood. "This is enough right?"
"Y-yes, yes! Of course it is, child! Give me a moment, let me head into the other room to start making more of the antidote. This is perfect! This can even help the whole guild if they were to use their devil particles once again!"
The woman scurried out and all Laki could do was blink in shock because she had never heard that woman praise anyone. Maybe only Wendy. She smiled gently and glanced over at Laxus, surprised that he was awake. She waved over at him a little bit and he watched as she walked towards his bed, acting a little shy. That was cute.
"How are you feeling today?"
"Well, the fact that I'm still in the infirmary should answer that question, right?"
Laki nodded and sat down in the chair next to him. "Sorry, I was just trying to find a way to make conversation."
Laxus felt a little guilty for his snappish response. After all, he had missed her presence and if he was acting like this, it would make her go away instead of stay. He sighed and shook his head.
"I'm just agitated that I'm still here. I shouldn't have snapped at you."
Laki smirked as she leaned forward a little bit. "What's this? Laxus is apologising? I feel like I should go and bring the rest of the guild in here to hear this."
Laxus rolled his eyes at her and her smirk widened. She stood up straight with a sigh, her hands resting on her hips almost as if she were exhausted. Laxus couldn't help but drink in her appearance. The bruises were pissing him off and he didn't like how her body was now more exposed due to her tattered clothes. She didn't seem to be bothered about it though.
"You should get Porlyusica to patch you up while you're here."
Laki looked back down at him and she shrugged. "I guess it would make sense. We're out of rooms though. I'll just sort myself out at home, they're only bruises."
"Or you can get yourself sorted out here, I don't mind. I'm not having you go home looking like that."
His voice was firm and as much as Laki wanted to argue with him and claim that he's not her keeper, she melted and felt touched that he was willing to look out for her. She smiled simply and shrugged her shoulders.
"I guess if you don't mind."
"I don't. Why don't you sit down?"
"Because the only seat here is next to your bed."
"Oh c'mon, I don't bite. Hard."
Laki laughed a little, ignoring her cheeks turning pink as she sat down next to him. It took a lot of practice for her to keep her heartbeat steady, just so he wouldn't hear it. She couldn't give anything away, not when her feelings wouldn't be returned.
"I didn't know gramps would have sent you out to go and fight some demons."
He was staring at her and her body felt hot under his watch, but she forced herself to ignore it.
"We all got sent out in groups to go and protect the remaining councilmen, including those who retired. There were quite a few of them left, but Master tasked me with extracting their blood."
Laxus frowned, not liking the fact that she was sent out by herself. She was clearly capable of looking after herself if all she came with was a bunch of cuts and scars, but he still didn't like it. He knew he was being selfish as it was for the good of the guild and even himself, but he didn't like the idea of her being sent off for his mistakes.
"Why are you frowning, Mr grumpy?"
She had a teasing lilt in her voice and Laxus grunted, wondering if he should tell her what he was thinking. He didn't want to offend her, so he decided to keep it quiet.
"Nothing. So you didn't have protect any of those stupid old men?"
"Nope, I just had to get some blood. It was easier than I thought, but it must have been because I came across an easier demon, I don't know. Either way, I got their blood and now we have a lot of it."
She smiled at him and Laxus felt his heart racing. He couldn't understand why he felt like this whenever she was near. They weren't close or anything, but he couldn't help himself as she did filter intl his thoughts ever since they came back from Tenrou Island after seven years. She had joined his team by hugging him when it was announced that he was allowed to rejoin the guild and he honestly found it surprising.
"Looks like you got a lot stronger during the seven years, huh?"
Laki laughed and shrugged. "It's not like you would know where my strength lay even before the seven years. You never spent time in the guild and you were extremely arrogant back then. Now you seem humbled."
Laxus blushed and turned his head away from her. "Even though we never really interacted, I did miss you when you were excommunicated and then during the seven years."
Laxus' head snapped back so fast and it made Laki giggle a little bit. She saw his confused look and she knew she had to elaborate on her point. She was unable to look him in the eyes as she looked down at her torn dress.
"I mean, as arrogant as you were, you definitely had the magic to back it up. I was really mad at you when the others didn't come back."
"What?! I didn't even do anything!"
Laki looked up. "Well none of us knew that you were on Tenrou Island! I was thinking that you hated us that much that you didn't even want to come and help us out even though you had been excommunicated! I thought you were laughing it up at our predicament wherever you were! I...I didn't know that you had gone to help them out..."
Laki was the one to turn her head this time. Laxus stared at her before shrugging. "I just felt like I was being called by something. I felt like gramps was calling me for help or something. Still doesn't explain you missing me though."
Laki sighed as if she didn't really want to continue. "It was more of the security. Even though you're not here, we know that you're around. I mean, even though you didn't show up during Phantom's attack and then you caused a civil guild fight, I guess it was justified. You were mad that Gajeel and Juvia joined after attacking us and you didn't have forgiveness in your heart. Any other time and I know we were still able to count on you. But yeah. That made me start taking my training seriously."
Porlyusica came back into the room at that time and she had a need in her hand with what was clearly the antidote. Laki stood up and moved out of the way as she prepped Laxus' arm. She still didn't turn to face him, looking as Wendy came into the room to help too.
They were both fussing after him and Laki couldn't help but smile. She knew she had it bad for him and that was why she had to stop seeing him. She slipped out of the room undetected, deciding that she can look after herself. She had to stop indulging in these moments with Laxus. They were giving her too much false hope that she could even capture his attention.
She sighed as she laid a hand over her heart. After he healed up, there would be no reason for them to cross paths again. He wouldn't be alone, his team would be with him.
Just like she thought, there was no reason for the two of them to cross each other's paths. He healed up well right after the antidote was given to him. She made sure that she never looked in his direction, never caught his eye. She even went as far as making sure that whenever he was on one side of the guild, she was purposely on the other side and away from his sight. Soon enough he would forget about her.
Well, that was what she had originally thought anyway. She was so sure that even when they disbanded for the year that he would even forget what her name was. She didn't expect for him to seek her out without his team.
She jumped when she saw him in her gym. Laki had moved to Oaktown, purely because of the forest. Doing her own personal training there was helpful, but she also had to do weight training.
"Laxus? What...what are you doing here?"
He looked up at her from where he was doing bench presses. He placed the bar back on the rack and sat up. He could see some guys eyeing Laki and him up before they turned away in fear, knowing exactly who he was. He almost smirked.
"I heard about this girl with some freakish strength around these parts and I know that Mira and Erza are still in Magnolia, so I had to come and see who it was myself. Imagine my unsurprise that it's you."
Laki didn't look impressed and she showed him by crossing her arms over her chest. "So you knew it was me and you still came. Why?"
"Why not? I can't come and see my guildmate?"
Laki flinched. "Well Fairy Tail is no more and I'm not a mage anymore either. I heard you're in Blue Pegasus anyway. How's that going?"
Laxus shrugged, still staring at her. He stood up from the bench and now towered over her. It had been so long since they last saw each other and even longer since they last spoke. Laki had tried her best to make sure that her mind never strayed too far to where he was concerned, and it had worked out really well for her. Until now. She hadn't realised how much she had missed him.
"It's going. Master Bob is still a perverted creep and Ever seems to be happy that she's taken Jenny's crown. Enough about me, why have you been avoiding me?"
Laki opened her mouth to deny it, but nothing came out. They just stared at each other as he was waiting for her response.
"I haven't been. I haven't really seen anyone around here. I've just been doing some manual labour stuff," she mumbled. It was true. She had decided to work in a lumberjack company, to get closer with her magic. It was a normal job, something completely different from her work as a mage. She hadn't seen anyone in the last 6 months. She didn't actively try to find anyone.
"That's bullshit and you know it. You've been avoiding me since before we disbanded. You didn't even stick around to get checked out that day that you went to get the blood samples."
Laki looked away. Here she was thinking that Laxus would have forgotten about it when it was clearly something that had been on his mind the whole entire time. Great.
"I didn't need a checkup or anything that day, it was just a few scratches. Drop it. As for avoiding, don't be so big headed. We never spoke before that, I just returned things to normal. No harm, no foul."
Laxus was getting agitated with her and she could sense it. Why did he care so much? Why couldn't he just leave her alone until she was able to shake her feelings for him and then she could deal with him?
"Yeah and I was thinking we could change that. I know I'm not the easiest person to talk to, but I felt like we were getting on really well."
Laki's heart thumped in her chest as she stared up at him, unable to respond. She couldn't help but smile when it looked like Laxus was too shy to look back at her and she nodded her head.
"Oh. I thought you were just talking to me to pass time while you were in the infirmary. I mean, you must have been so bored out of your mind being there by yourself."
He shook his head with a sigh. She had definitely read that situation wrong. "You finished here? I could do with a shower and I wanna use yours."
Laki frowned as she glared up at him. "Use the ones here!"
"No. I'm using yours. C'mon, show me to your new place."
He was smirking at her and Laki turned her head to grumble about how annoying and pushy he was being. She didn't argue anymore with him as she beckoned him to follow her. She didn't really know what she was going to do with such a handsome man like himself in her house. And he was going to be naked!
"Okay Laki, you need to calm down. Calm down before he notices."
"Can't wait to see how hospitable the infamous Laki Olietta is," Laxus stated with a dangerous smirk on his face. Laki had to force herself to look away from him.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Everyone knows that you have weapons of torture in your place at Fairy Hills. Weapons you made yourself."
"It's called self defence and I only use them against perverts." She glanced up and down at him, clearly insinuating that he's one. "Exhibit A."
Laxus burst out laughing as they exited the gym once Laki's had grabbed all of her belongings. "I definitely can't deny that I used to be one, but I would like to think I'm more tamed now."
"Oh yeah? How so?"
"Well for starters, have you caught me giving you any inappropriate looks?"
Laki's cheeks turned pink when she realised what he had just said. Her heart almost stopped as she stared up at him, speechless. She didn't know how else to react, considering they were now in the streets. Laxus just kept on moving as if he hadn't said anything outlandish.
"W-well no, but what has that got to do with anything?"
She didn't want to interpret it in the way that she thought he meant it. That would give her too much high hope and that was the last thing she wanted to give herself where Laxus was concerned.
"It's got a lot to do with everything. After we shower, we should go out to dinner, my treat."
Laki's jaw dropped as she found her brain short circuiting. Just what was happening right now?! Was he really asking her out, but making it sound friendly?
"Play it cool Laki, play it cool."
"You're paying? Sign me up. How can I miss having dinner when the wonderfully loaded Laxus Dreyer is paying for little ole me?" She fluttered her eyelashes playfully at him and he rolled his eyes with an amused grin.
Laki couldn't get over how nice his grin was. Laxus only ever smirked and when he was in his teens, he was a moody bitch because his dad had been excommunicated. Seeing him like this was both refreshing and detrimental to her health. She wasn't Juvia, her body wasn't allowed to be this wet for so long.
"Oh shut up. Make sure you dress up nicely too."
Laki raised an eyebrow. "Why would I do that? What, are we going on a date?"
"And if I say yes?"
"How did we get here?"
"I...s-sure?"
Laxus flashed her a grin, one that almost turned her into a puddle of goo. Just how did he have so much power over her? Why couldn't she control herself and her feelings?
"Good. Anyway, I've got no clue where you live, so lead the way."
~x~
Laki couldn't believe that she had actually dressed up for a date with Laxus. Was that his plan the whole time? Show up and then take her out? She wasn't even expecting for him to pull out a tux from his gym bag. It was definitely a surprise.
She was lucky to have a place with two bathrooms. That saved her any embarrassing moments, but she was proud to say that when she came out of her bedroom, Laxus was forced to pick up his jaw from the floor when he saw her. Laki had never felt more alive. She felt like a woman and she hated that she needed Laxus to look at her one before she felt like one. She even ditched her glasses and swapped them out for contact lenses.
"You know I have to ask...why have you asked me out on a 'date'? I honestly didn't think that I was your type."
They were seated now. Laxus glanced over at her before he opened his mouth to explain.
"I have two reasons. The first one is that I'm doing a job and this is the perfect guise."
Laki felt hurt. She should have known he was never here for her. That he would never willingly ask her out and that he actually asked her out because he liked her. His job led him out here. He wasn't here because this is where she was.
Before she could voice her annoyance, he spoke up. "That's also my perfect excuse to leave my team behind and come and see you. I only picked the job because you're here. I wouldn't have bothered looking at the description if I hadn't seen that the job was here in Oaktown. I thought that if you didn't accept my date offer, I would at least do the job."
He was staring at her openly as she fidgeted with her fingers. How was she supposed to respond to that? What did he want her to say?
"Oh...You wanted me to go on a date with you?"
A nod.
"Why?"
"Isn't it obvious?"
A shake of the head. She didn't want to believe it if it didn't come from his mouth specifically. She wasn't about to read any signals incorrectly, so she was going to make him use his words. He sipped on some wine before he stared over at her again. Even though she was in a strapless dress, his gaze made her feel like she was wearing a turtleneck. She was scorching under his eyes.
"I like you. A lot. I know you probably don't believe me, but I was hoping you would give me a chance with at least one date."
Laki smiled shyly as she played with her hair. Laxus chuckled at how cute she was being and the waiter came to take their food order. They joked and laughed with one another as they described their experiences now that their guild had been disbanded. Laxus and the thunder god tribe were still basically doing the same thing, just that their new guild was extremely flamboyant. Laxus was okay with it when they didn't get him to join in with it.
"What about you? You said you're not a mage right now."
"That's right. I work as a lumberjack. I just wanted something different, you know? I mean I still train, but I wanted a more manual labour job than fighting magical creatures all the time. It's been fun, the last six months."
"But?"
Laki sipped on her cocktail. "How did you know there was a but?"
Laxus chuckled, his soft amber eyes drinking her in, memorising her as if they were never going to see her again.
"Because I sense that you want something more. Something much more. I can see it in your eyes. Penny for your thoughts?"
Laki gulped down her fears. If there was something she had come to realise is that she got on really well with Laxus. No secrets, no lies, but bare emotions. She found herself unable to hide things from him.
"It's been fun, but I miss the guild. I didn't join another guild because it's not like I had a team that I worked with. I didn't want to join a new guild alone and then learn to fit in. I was thinking about Mermaid Heel, but I talked myself out of going."
Laxus raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
Laki shrugged with a smile. "Because I missed you. Blue Pegasus is close enough to Oaktown, Mermaid Heel is too far. I know, it's stupid because why the hell would I want to be close to you and not try to seek you out, it makes no sense. Still...I couldn't help myself."
She looked up at him to see his reaction and she wasn't disappointed. She saw a look in his eyes that she never really saw anymore. Pure joy. She couldn't help but smile at him as they finished their food and drinks.
"You wanna get outta here?"
"Sure," she breathed out. She watched as he stuck to his word and he paid for the both of them. He held out his hand and his date took it without any hesitation. They both grinned at each other as they took a leisurely stroll through the town. Laxus even brought her hand up and gave it a light kiss.
"I have to ask. When did you start liking me?"
She was curious, because she didn't think she mattered to someone like Laxus. He had already said that the type of girls he liked were girls like Lucy and that he wouldn't go against the guild if Lucy became his girlfriend. Well, she wasn't Lucy, she's Laki.
"I watched your fight against all the other women in the civil guild conflict. When you cut your hair. I didn't like you back then, but I noticed you. And then when I was allowed back into the guild and you came to hug me...you were plastered into my mind. And then we first spoke when you came to look after me. From there, it's history."
Laki nodded as she stared up at the sky. She knew that Laxus wasn't going to ask her about her feelings, but he was definitely curious.
"I guess you can say I've always liked you."
"What?!" He squawked. Laki laughed and shrugged her shoulders, turning her gaze to him instead.
"Yep, I've always liked you. At first, I was attracted to your strength. I wanted to be that strong and I wanted to ask you about some training tips and what I should do. But you never gave me the time of day because I wasn't an S class mage like you. You were mad that your dad was excommunicated and you got harder and harder to approach. Saying that though, I just thought maybe it was a childish crush that I would get over. Then you became a pervert."
Laxus bellowed out with laughter as he threw his head back. Laki rolled her eyes and shook her head with a smile.
"Guilty. I can't deny how much of one I was when you seem to have a pervert radar."
"Exactly. Either way, I guess I still tried to seek your validation and then soon enough I had a crush on you. I thought it would go away with time, but it didn't. And now I'm on a date with you."
"Sorry if I ruined your plans."
"You should be. But I guess you made it up with how fancy that dinner was."
"I had to find a way to impress you. I know how hard headed you can be, I wasn't too sure you would say yes to me. I mean, you were avoiding me for a reason, right?"
Laki groaned. She didn't want to talk about it. "I wanted to distance myself because I didn't want to get hurt."
They were both silent before Laxus chuckled. He let go of her hand, opting to slide it around her waist instead. Despite now being older than him, Laki was definitely still smaller than him, but she didn't mind. She rested her hand on his broad chest, enjoying the feel of his muscles beneath his dress shirt. She gave him a warning glare that he ignored when she felt his hand brush against her butt.
"I guess we're both idiots, huh?"
Laki scoffed. "Speak for yourself, I'm definitely not an idiot."
"Are you joking? You're an idiot for liking me."
Laki gasped as Laxus ducked his head down low. He pulled her body tightly against his, her breasts pushing up against his chest. She felt her cheeks heat up as she stared up into those amber hues of his. She used one hand to trace his scar as she felt his breath mingle with hers. She smiled coyly at him.
"I guess you're right. I don't regret it though."
He leaned forward and nipped at the top of her ear, causing her to shudder.
"You sure?" His voice was low as it shook her to her core. This man was really going to be the death of her as she tried her best to clench her legs together.
"Just kiss me before I change my mind."
And he did. Laki didn't want to inflate his ego by telling him it was the best kiss she had ever had, but it was. He didn't treat her like fine China. He treated her like a woman and she loved that. He made her toes curl and her heart race. She cupped his face as her eyes fluttered close.
He sucked on her bottom lip and she moaned into his mouth.
They pulled apart for air, panting hungrily as they tried to suck in enough oxygen. Laxus smirked and Laki smiled up at him before she faltered when he kissed her forehead gently. She didn't know that Laxus could have such a romantic side to him.
"I've got to go now. I can smell the guy I'm looking for."
Laki nodded, shivering at the way he whispered into her ear. "Are you going back straight after?"
Laxus hummed in her ear as they ignored everyone else on the streets. To them, no one else mattered and Laxus didn't even want to do this stupid job, not when he had Laki right here.
"Hell no. I'm coming back to you tonight. If you'll have me."
Laki glanced up, feeling like she should tease him a little bit, but she decided against it. She knew that Laxus would have some sort of wise comment that would send her shaking to her core. After all, she needed to have strong legs to get her back home. Instead, she planted a light kiss on his neck and that made the lightning dragon slayer groan at the feel of her lips.
"I'll be waiting for you," she replied in a sultry tone. Laxus gave her one last squeeze before he was gone in a flash of light. Laki's hair billowed out behind her from his magical presence and she couldn't help but feel like such a school girl as she made her way home. Many words didn't need to be spoken between them for the both of them to understand that they were now a couple.
Laki rushed home and made sure that she was clear. She had already showered not too long ago and didn't really feel like doing it again. She slipped into a see-through nightdress, one that she knew Laxus wouldn't be able to resist before lying on top of her sheets. She knew that he wouldn't take long and haha even left the window open for him.
She tried to read a book as she waited for him, but her mind was moving too fast. Her heart started racing when she came to realise that she had shared her first kiss with Laxus. She put the book to her face as she leaned back, kicking her legs and squealing with utmost joy. She'd gone on a date with Laxus. She'd kissed Laxus in the streets, as if they were old lovers.
"This has to be a dream," she mumbled to herself. There was no way that this had all happened today. She didn't realise that her eyes had started closing a little, the excitement of the day catching up to her.
"Laki."
"Hmm?" She had dozed off a little and she sat up and rubbed at her eyes. Laxus had already closed the window, washed up and was stripped down to his boxers. Laki grinned tiredly. She shuffled over on the bed and let Laxus fall onto the bed. She giggled when he wrapped his thick arms around her as she snuggled in closer.
"How was the job?"
"Annoying. He was a lightning mage too. Nothing I couldn't handle."
"Hmm, you definitely went overboard for no reason, just to show him what's what, didn't you?"
"Such a child."
"You love it, don't lie."
Laxus chuckled, that deep chuckle that he does and it rumbles through Laki's chest. She could feel her eyes closing as Laxus' hand ran through her hair lulling her to sleep. She couldn't help the smile on her face when she thought about the fact that Laxus was actually lying in a bed with her. She felt herself frown a little before she kept her eyes on Laxus. His tan eyes stared back down at her.
"What's wrong?"
"I...will you still be here when I wake up? Or will I have to go through some sort of cliche of waking up and being extremely disappointed that you're still not in bed with me?"
Laxus paused. "You want me to be here in the morning?"
Laki nodded and Laxus continued stroking her hair. "Then I'll be here in the morning. Don't be freaked out if you wake up and I'm not in the bed, though. I might be taking a piss. I always need to when I wake up, but I'll be right back by your side when I'm done."
Laki sighed with a smile on her face. "Good. Just make sure you clean up any splashes that you make. And put the seat down. Then wash your hands with soap."
"Yes mum," Laxus replied as he rolled his eyes. He sank lower into the bed as he sighed. He was exhausted from the day, but this was the best way to end it. Being in the same bed as Laki with his arms wrapped around her. They weren't even doing anything other than going to sleep. He heard her breathing even out and he kissed the side of her head again. He remembered that his grandfather always told him 'nothing ventured, nothing gained.' He could almost thank the old man now for that stupid saying.
So how was that? This story was trying to test my patience by making me go back and read some chapters to at least get some of it right haha. I thank everyone in advance for reading this story! I know the pairing is a sure rare pair haha.
Please don't forget to rate or hate, flames or floods! I haven't forgotten 'Liars,' I'm just focused on writing other things for my 10 year anniversary as well!
