Hello everyone and welcome to my very first Danganronpa SYOC! I've never done an SYOC for this fandom before, but it looks fun, so I thought I'd give it a try.
Yes, this has a fairy tale theme and for this story, every character will have a fairy tale role assigned to them by Monokuma, with fairy tales being a big theme. Take that as you will ;) But quick note, Snow White is the one fairy tale already taken. All others are fair game.

Prologue: Once Upon a Time
It was quiet as Maria Kikumoto approached the gates that led to Hope's Peak Academy, a school she had never even dreamed of getting a chance to attend. And yet, here she was, walking ever closer.
I can't believe I'm actually here. So far from home too…Dima and Sasha really won't believe this. Maria thought to herself, allowing a smile to grace her expression.
The ringing of her cell phone, however, cut her thoughts off. Quickly taking her phone out from her jacket pocket, Maria's brow furrowed before she answered it.
"Mamochka, why are you calling? It's too early for you to be up." Maria scolded her mother, slipping into Russian easily. And considering St. Petersburg was six hours behind Tokyo, the raven haired girl thought she was correct in scolding her mother.
"Oh hush, Mashka, you know there's no way I'd miss your first day at this school." Her mother, Alina Kikumoto, said on the other end of the line, no doubt smiling. "You've adjusted to the time zone, yes? And practiced your Japanese?"
"Yes, Mamochka. Papachka made sure I was prepared." Maria rolled her eyes fondly. And it was true. She and her father, Ren Kikumoto, had flown from St. Petersburg as soon as they had all their affairs in order and Maria had finished her time with the Russian Ballet Company.
After all, it wasn't everyday that a seventeen year old was offered the title of the Ultimate Ballet Dancer and a place at such a prestigious school.
In any case, arriving so early had helped Maria adjust, both to the language and the time zone. And she could say with a fair amount of confidence that she could do this.
She was ready for whatever came next because it would affect the rest of her life.
With a smile, Maria focused back on her mother.
"Mamochka, I have to go. I promise Papachka and I will call you as soon as we are able to. I'm at the gates now. Please go to sleep." She whispered to her mother. She could see people in the corner of her eye, whispering as they noticed the language leaving her lips. Maria refused to feel any shame, focusing entirely on her mother.
"Alright, Mashka. You will do just fine and call me whenever you can. I miss you, the house is too quiet without you." Alina reminded her.
"I will Mamochka. I love you. Bye." Maria smiled before she and her mother both hung up.
It was only then that she found herself standing before the gates to Hope's Peak Academy.
This is it…wish me luck, Mamochka, Papachka.
With one last deep breath, Maria stepped forward past the gates of the school.
The second her foot touched the ground, a headache stabbed through Maria's forehead. She gasped, feeling her body stumble.
And then nothing.
Maria's dreams, as always, were filled with ballet. With dancing under the spotlight before a large audience, the orchestra playing Swan Lake as she danced until, finally, it was done, and she bowed.
This wasn't unusual.
What was unusual, however, was where she woke up.
Maria awoke to a pulsing headache that was slowly fading away and a white room.
Moving slowly, confused, she looked around. The room was white, with the exception of some black and red pillows, and some red apple shaped stickers on the walls. The only other thing besides the stickers on the walls was a silver mirror, which had a desk below it, as if to create a vanity.
Maria stood, looking down at the bed she had been laying in as she did so. She froze at the sight of it.
The bed was white with a white blanket, red and black throw pillows laid against the white pillow her head had rested on, and there was a canopy above where she had lain, white with silver snowflakes on it. The bed was also shaped like a glass coffin.
Feeling fear crawl down her spine, Maria quickly made her way towards the vanity. The first thing she did was check her reflection.
Staring back at her was a pale girl with waist length, curly, deep black hair and cool blue eyes. She wore a white button up shirt under a black Russian Ballet Company warm-up jacket, a thigh length dark red skirt, white tights and black ballet flats. There was a dark red choker around her neck and a white flower shaped barrette in her hair.
Exactly how Maria remembered dressing that morning.
That, at least, was a relief and she sighed at the sight, pushing some of her deep black hair behind her ear.
Her eyes trailed off to the side and that was when she noticed a tablet sitting on the desk. Curious, but also cautious, Maria reached out and grasped the tablet, turning it on.
Briefly, the Hope's Peak Academy emblem appeared on the screen before words flashed on the screen.
Welcome, Maria Kikumoto!
It was written in Japanese, but she could read it thankfully enough. After the words faded, a series of apps appeared. Curious, Maria tapped on the 'Profiles' app.
Instantly, 18 profiles appeared, with only one filled in. It looked like a…a pixel version of herself. Furrowing her brow, Maria tapped the profile and looked at what appeared.

"Okay…that's a bit creepy." Maria bit her lip as she quickly closed the app. Looking at the rest of the apps, she noted that the only other useful one seemed to be the 'Map' app.
Unfortunately, all she found when she opened the app was a single room, labeled 'Maria's Room', so that was a dead end. The remaining apps, however, were grayed out and refused to open even when Maria tapped on the icons.
Sighing in frustration, she turned the tablet off and looked around the room. It was actually very spacious, surprisingly, with the bed (which still gave her shivers), the vanity she was currently sitting at, a wardrobe and two doors. There was also a TV on the wall, though she couldn't see a way to turn it on, and a camera of all things. There were no windows, however.
So one of those is the bathroom…and the other is the rest of wherever this place is. Maria mused as she stood up, clutching the tablet tightly in her hands. She was scared, everything about this made her feel uneasy and scared.
But she couldn't just stay hiding in here.
So with one more deep breath, Maria made her way to one of the doors and opened it, stepping into the hallway beyond.
Alright, a few notes before I give the submission outline. This story will have 18 OCs, so I need 9 boys and 8 girls. I will only accept OCs through PMs, no reviews. Please submit them as (Character Name), (Talent), Danganronpa: Happily Never After SYOC. Please don't send more than 3 OCs. As for foreign characters, since we already have Maria, I am allowing three more possible foreign OCs and they HAVE to have a reason behind why they're foreign (example: Maria is from Russia because the Russian Ballet Company is one of the best ballet companies). This is not first come, first serve, so take your time! Don't submit characters that are in other stories. Each character must have a fairy tale role (example: Maria is Snow White). And finally, once you submit your character, their fate is within my hands. The deadline for submissions will be July 10th.
