Hey guys sorry for the very late update, classes just started so I was adapting to my new schedule and lo and behold I got covid. It really sucked and drained all my energy. But here we are now with the new chapter and I hope everyone enjoys it. Thanks so much and apologies for being MIA for a month well 2 months.
According to the clock mounted on the wall, it's almost 7:00 AM. Morning already.
If my hypothesis is correct then the person who hijacked my Monokuma yesterday was manually controlling him then. The morning announcement shouldn't happen.
So I wait.
Patiently.
...
…
…
...
Time goes by slowly, almost as if it was teasing me on the possibility that I might be wrong.
The clock turns to 7:00 AM and…
…
Just like I suspected.
Nothing.
I walk out of my dorm room and head towards the bathrooms, trying to see if someone is in there trying to get inside the control room. But, there was no one.
I guess they won't try so close to the morning where people can be awake.
As I head back to the dorms, I notice a person in the area before the dorms and cafeteria.
It's Jotaro, he's wearing his sleepwear which is just a pair of black shorts.
I guess he would be one of the first people to wake up - he was probably working out in his room. He was also quite close to being voted to be killed...maybe if I voted for Jotaro instead of Mikasa then maybe Tatsumi might...
…
I can't keep reliving that. It's over.
He's gone and I need to accept that.
"Jotaro, you are awake quite early, I see." I greet him.
"Yes, I usually wake up at 4:00 am to start my routine. When I realized that it was 7:00 AM and I thought that the morning time would be announced so I could start running around the halls, but nothing happened." Jotaro explains. That was surprisingly intelligent of him...from what I know of him, he should be as dumb as a rock... I might have underestimated him in that regard.
Before our conversation could continue I heard the steps of three more people coming our way.
It's Shion, Sumire, and Ryoji - all also still in their sleepwear. Sumire is wearing pajama pants with a red ice skate pattern and a black shirt with something on it: it looks like some kind of event's details but I'm not like Tatsumi who would recognize it. Shion is wearing a white shirt and black shorts. Ryoji sleeps in a basic pair of white boxer briefs and a white t-shirt...also with a coffee stain.
I assume it's because of the water being turned off by the hijacker and...me forgetting to turn it on...
Oops.
"So you guys are awake too." Sumire greets us with a smile.
"We can all see that, Sumire." Shion rolls her eyes. "Ugh, ignore her." she says and turns to me. "What the hell is happening? It should be morning time now and the restricted areas should be open for us to use." Shion says, shooting a look at Sumire.
Ryoji is uncharacteristically quiet. I guess losing his perceived best friend so quickly caused him to form some trauma. I pity him but in a game like this that's a weakness waiting to be exploited, I don't think he'll last that long.
As we discuss, more and more people show up. Takagi, Kikuo, and Kite arrive as a group.
Katashi arrives alone, quiet as usual, but with an annoyed expression on his face. He's wearing a pink, red trimmed sleeping hoodie with matching pants.
Yuuji and Rui arrive at the same time, both sporting black pajamas.
Min-Ju arrives with Mitsuki, Kasumi, and Mikasa.
Everyone was wondering if nighttime was over. Min-Ju is wearing lingerie type underwear but over an oversized t-shirt - a sharp contrast to Kasumi and Mikasa both wearing your standard everyday pajamas.
"I don't think nighttime is over because the water is still turned off." Kasumi says with a frown.
"What if this is the first motive? Depriving us of our needs would surely make us want to kill each other." Mikasa guesses.
It's quite a good theory but I know better. I also remember reading about an incident like that in the history books. To be fair, a majority of them were guilty of horrible crimes, they kind of deserved it.
But I digress.
"Is the cafeteria a restricted area?" Kite asks the group.
"It shouldn't be, but are you willing to try and enter it?" Takagi answers.
"If I remember in the first Killing Game, when Sayaka tried to kill Leon, she was able to get a knife from the kitchen." Rui recalls. "So it should be open, right?"
"No, I think she got that before nighttime was announced." Yuuji disagrees.
"There will be nothing gained if we all just stand here talking to each other like a bunch of idiots." Katashi cuts off the group discussion. "I haven't taken a bath and I'm starving, so if no one is gonna do anything I'm just gonna leave you idiots here." Katashi snaps and walks off. Heading where? I don't know if I can find a rat to eat who cares.
Thinking about it, I guess I could have turned on the water while I was in the control room. Oops. I guess I can do that tonight. I don't wanna risk doing it right now because someone might discover me, also I can't enter the boys bathroom without looking suspicious.
"Then what's gonna happen? Are we just gonna stink? This is a nightmare!" Min-Ju squeals in disgust.
"We could just just force someone to enter the cafeteria, it's the best idea we have. We can even go by voting and if the votes stay the same then Jotaro should go." Takagi suggests to the group.
He makes a good point. I know for sure that nothing is gonna happen. I didn't make any executions…
…
I didn't make any...then what did we watch? How the fuck could someone execute Tatsumi if there's nothing here?
Things aren't adding up.
"What about you, Sachi? You've been awfully quiet for a while now." I snap out of my thoughts at the sound of my name being called. Ryoji.
"Hm," I think. "If there was no morning announcement, there's a possibility that Monokuma was shut down?" I suggest unsurely. "I mean, they wouldn't let us just break a rule without Monokuma, right?" I try to give the group some sort of idea that the killing game is halted. Well at least I hope I was able to stop it indefinitely. Maybe I should put an alarm on that lock too.
"Well Jotaro? Are you willing to go first?" Mikasa asks the Strongman.
"UGH! I can't take any more of this." Shion starts angrily, grabs an unsuspecting Sumire, and pushes her into the Cafeteria. At the sound of Sumire's body hitting the floor, everyone turns to stare at her wearily to see if Monokuma is going to suddenly appear. It's like we're all frozen in place - nobody making a move to help her.
Sumire picks herself up off the ground, an uncharacteristically (from what I've seen of her, anyways) angry look on her face. "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!" she screams at her sister, hysteria and panic mixing in with the anger.
Shion shrugs her off and crosses her arms. "You're not dead, are you? Stop being so dramatic." she says.
Sumire probably thought she was going to die, I'd say that's an acceptable level of 'dramatic'.
…
What a b-
After nothing happens to Sumire, everyone, obviously hungry, goes inside as well to eat breakfast. It's quiet, everyone talking silently with each other.
After Takagi had ordered Kikuo to cook for him, he was kind enough to do so for Shion, Kite, Sumire, and everybody else as well after they piled onto him.
"So, what do you guys think happened? Why was there no morning announcement? Why has Monokuma just not appeared?" Rui wonders.
"Maybe the game is cancelled." Jotaro answers with a shrug.
"Do you guys remember when Monokuma had that glitch thing?" Ryoji asks. "When he was telling us about that 'finding the truth about something' thing then he just...bzzzt zap whirrr boo." Ryoji speaks up, making some sort of noises like a robot breaking down. I'm glad to know he's feeling better enough to talk to everyone.
Mikasa hums. "Now that you bring it up," she says. "it was a rather weird thing to happen, and then he just ignored everyone...then..." Mikasa stops and a dark look crosses her face. "Then he made us vote."
A sudden silence goes around the group
"It was very unfortunate to lose Tatsumi so early. I knew he would have been a powerful ally to have but I guess most of you decided to end a threat instead" Takagi says provokingly.
I know for sure Takagi was trying to keep Tatsumi in his pocket. Takagi is one of the most dangerous people in here, not only because he has Kikuo - who is basically attached to him - but because he's very unpredictable. Well, according to Tatsumi anyway.
"No one wanted to vote, no one wanted to kill him," Kasumi says almost defensively.
"You probably voted for him didn't you?" Takagi challenges her. "Are you that insecure about his intel? You do know we just lost our best asset here, right? Most of you probably saw him as a huge problem for when you commit murder."
Takagi makes a good point. Tatsumi would have been the best detective in this situation. He works with information, he solves things pretty easily. Getting rid of him as quickly as possible...that's probably what went through all of his voter's heads.
Kasumi slams her hands on the table as Mitsuki comes to comfort her. "That's not what I-"
"Hey, stop that! I also voted for Tatsumi, most of us did. Why are you even saying this? He's dead, nothing will bring him back!" Mitsuki yells, glaring at Takagi..
Takagi only smirks. "Whatever do you mean, discount me?" he sneers.
This seems to trigger Mitsuki, who runs up to swing at Takagi but Jotaro quickly and easily stops her.
"No fighting." Jotaro states.
Shion sticks her tongue out. "Boo, it was just getting exciting." she says and refocuses her attention on her breakfast.
After that, the rest of breakfast was rather uneventful.
After breakfast, everyone goes around to look for an exit or just to find a way to take a bath.
I decide to go back to my room since I know there won't be an exit. I just need to find the right time to get back inside the control room, replace the AI that the hijacker deleted, and we should be able to get back to the original plan.
As I'm heading to my room, I encounter Kasumi and Mitsuki together. Mitsuki is talking while Kasumi is crying. The former notices me and beckons me to come over.
"What's wrong?" I ask as I approach. "Don't tell me that Takagi affected you that much." I say, raising an eyebrow.
"Obviously not," Mitsuki sniffs. "As if I could be affected by whatever that little troll says, he means nothing to me." she says. "I'm concerned about Kasumi, she's feeling very guilty about what Takagi said. We both voted for Tatsumi but that's because Min-Ju said he would be the best person to get rid of." Mistuki reveals. "We didn't want to make a decision for ourselves, so...we just decided to go along with what she wanted."
I feel a bit bad for her. She needed to cast a vote or else she would be voting for herself. Tatsumi even ended up voting for himself in the end. But, I guess now they can imagine what would have happened if they voted differently.
It's like what I always tell myself: the past is in the past and we have to let go of it.
…
...
But that would be hypocritical of me. Because I will never let go of-
"Mitsuki, can you go for a while? I just want to be alone" Kasumi whispers to us.
"A-Alone? What about Sachiko?" Mistuki asks, confused.
"I'll...I just want...please..." Kasumi begs Mitsuki, distraught.
Mitsuki looks between us with a confused frown but leaves us alone.
"Sachiko…" Kasumi turns to me. "I just want to apologize for what happened to Tatsumi." she says genuinely. "I don't know what's wrong, but I'm so confused...everything has been going so fast and I...I just...I didn't..." Kasumi bursts into tears, sobbing.
Uggghhhh. I don't want to deal with emotional people right now.
I want to get up and leave but suddenly Tatsumi's crying face appears in my mind. His sacrifice to us...why is this affecting me so much?
I sigh and put an awkward hand on Kasumi's shoulder. "Calm down Kasumi, let's not talk about this Killing Game. Shall we talk about something else?" I suggest and Tatsumi comes to mind again. "Tell me something about you, your Talent as the Ultimate Fashion Historian." I say. I don't actually know how to socialize with other people that much but this method always seemed to work for Tatsumi.
"Well…" Kasumi sniffs. "It's...it's nothing too interesting. I make historical costumes...some of my costumes made it into famous movies...heh. Honestly I just did all this so I can make my mother proud." she reveals as she tries to calm down.
"Well, is she?" I ask. "Is your mother proud of your success?"
Kasumi nods. "I...I like to think so...My mother passed away you see...before I even became a success...I never...I never even got to say goodbye to her..." she sighs.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know" I apologize to her. Damn it, Tatsumi would have known that.
Kasumi shakes her head and smiles weakly. "It's ok, I just needed to get things off my chest, I guess." she says wistfully.
I continue to listen to her story and after a while, we part ways.
Lunch eventually came by and after the multiple incidents during breakfast, everyone silently agreed to not eat lunch (and probably any future meals) as a group. However, I encounter a lone Sumire in the cafeteria when I enter. Which is a bit strange since I thought she would be eating alongside her sister but I guess she's still affected by what happened in the morning.
"Hey Sachi, are you just about to eat?" Sumire greets me kindly.
"Yeah."
"I had some leftover pasta if you want, I made it for me and Shion but I guess she didn't like my cooking..." Sumire says, dejected.
"Alright then..." I sit down and Sumire goes inside the kitchen to grab me a plate.
I'm actually quite surprised a lot of people have been cooking in there. And without water, how are they able to clean the pots and pans?
When Sumire returns, I ask her just that: "How did you cook this? Isn't the water still turned off?" I ask as she places down a plate of pasta in front of me.
"Oh…" Sumire blinks. "Yeah, I took some water bottles from the fridge. Also there's just a huge amount of pots and pans in the sink…" she trails off and sighs. "I'm really confused about what's happening. Monokuma has made no appearance since yesterday." Sumire says and goes back to eating.
I look down at the pasta in front of me. Why did I accept this? This could be poisoned...
But I am knowledgeable enough to smell that nothing smells wrong with it and Sumire is even eating it in front of me. There isn't even a reason to commit murder yet since Monokuma hasn't showed up. Without any motive for the nice Kotobuki to actually kill me, I decide to dig in. It's surprisingly delicious.
We eat in silence for a few moments but after a while I get curious and decide to finally ask:
"Why do you let your sister treat you like that?"
Sumire tenses for a second and puts on a forced smile. "Oh you don't have to worry about me like that." she says. "That's just how we are, you know, sisters quarrel - especially twins. We have some fights but we're still sisters you know." she says rather defensively.
A.k.a., drop it.
But, unfortunately for Sumire, Tatsumi's annoying persistence rubbed off on me. "I don't think pushing your sister towards her possible early death is the 'sisterly' thing to do, Sumire." I press.
"Well…" Sumire's smile drops and she shakes her head. "Let's just not talk about it, ok?" she says, ending the Shion conversation there.
Fine. I'll drop it for now.
"So, I remember Tatsumi saying that you also used to do Ice Skating with Shion, right?" I ask.
Sumire nods. "Yeah, I did. Our parents were famous Ice Skaters so it was obvious that they wanted us to follow in their footsteps." she explains.
"But you decided that it wasn't that much fun?"
Sumire's face falls. "Yeah, I guess you can say that." she says. "MeTube just clicked, y'know? It was so much fun." Sumire says with a genuine smile that doesn't last very long. "And I guess I found that it was just more fun doing my own thing than...competing with my sister." she whispers that last part but I still pick up what she said.
After that, we continue to eat and talk about random things. When we're done, we dump our plates in the sink, unable to wash them.
(I swear I'm going to turn it on tonight when everyone's asleep.)
And with that, we go our separate ways.
By the time night comes, there is still no movement from the hijackers. All I can think is that they are probably coming up with a new plan. There aren't any alerts from the Control Room lock so all I can guess is that they didn't try to open it again.
I guess I just need to wait for everyone to go to sleep before I go inside the Control Room to open up the water supply...
I decided to head to the control room after I decided it was time to go. While I was heading there though I heard some banging stuff inside the Cafeteria. I went to check but there was no one there... weird. I continue to head for the control room.
Hopefully I can reset things back to the original plan, even if that plan no longer includes Tatsumi.
