"There he is, the world's best secretary." Carly greeted Clyde as she stepped into the office that morning.

"That feels like a poorly veiled lie, but I'll take it." Clyde commented as he watched her hang her coat. "So, it's your boy's first day of school. How did that go this morning?"

"It was difficult, but not impossible." Carly recounted the events of the morning. "It was so sweet though, to see Bruce really take to him and I don't know what he said to him, but Dick came down to breakfast and he was like a whole different boy."

"Well, I'm sure when you get home, he'll have a full report for you. When I was that age you couldn't stop me from talking." Clyde laughed.

"Yeah I don't think you ever grew out of that phase." Carly teased him. "One more thing, then I have to get to work. Bruce and I are throwing a party. A relatively small one as Wayne parties go, but I know you dream about the parties at Wayne Manor, so I just wanted you to know."

"So, you just wanted me to know that you're throwing a fancy party at your big fancy house. Thanks?" He said sarcastically.

"You didn't let me finish. This is a party that we're throwing to welcome Dick to the family. I wanted you to know that you'll be on the guest list this time, but if you'd prefer that I ask Alfred to take you off the list…" Carly shrugged and began walking off towards her desk.

"Absolutely not!" Clyde gasped. "You know how badly I've wanted to see this inside of that house! I mean to be invited to a Wayne Mansion party?! You literally could not stop me."

"I thought you'd say that. Don't worry, I'll make sure you receive an invite, even if I have to give it to you myself." She promised. "For now, it's time to get to work, so what's the schedule look like today?"

Carly spent her morning preparing several copyrights and patens for the company. Once all the necessary documents were completed, she stuffed them in envelopes and passed them along to Clyde so that he could mail them out with whatever other outgoing mail they had. When she broke for lunch, she realized she hadn't heard from Dick or his school all day. She had to remind herself that on a kid's first day, no news was actually good news. After lunch, Erika who worked in the ecological division, approached Carly. They were having issues with a partner company who was threatening to release their joint research early.

"Oh gosh, I'm sorry I took up your whole afternoon with this!" Erika exclaimed when she caught sight of the time.

"It's fine!" Carly insisted. "Honestly, Bruce never leaves on time, so I end up stuck here working late most days anyway. Thanks for bringing this to me. I'll get in contact with the partners tomorrow and let them know we won't tolerate releasing the research early. If we're not ready to share and the information goes public, we'll consider it a breach of their contract with us."

"Thanks Carly! I knew you would know how to handle it! Let me know if you need more information from me or how everything turns out." Erika said. She said goodbye and returned to her own office.

"I'm ready to call it a day, Boss." Clyde added, getting up from his desk. Carly bid him a good night. With a glance at the clock on the wall, she agreed the workday was over. Carly packed up her things and stepped into the elevator for a lift to the top floor. She was eager to collect her husband and get home to their son.

"So, no calls from Alfred or the school?" Carly questioned Bruce as they walked into the house from the garage.

"I'm sure that's a good sign, Car." He assured his wife.

"You're home!" The couple had only mere seconds of reaction time before their acrobat son had launched himself at them. Bruce caught the boy, mid-air. Carly noticed Dick had already changed out of his school uniform and into a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt.

"How was your day?" She questioned him eagerly.

"It was okay." Dick shrugged as Bruce passed him over to Carly. "But better now that you guys are home." He added, nuzzling her neck.

"Listen, Dick I think I still have some work to do in my office, but I believe Carly wanted to start planning that party we mentioned this morning." Bruce told him.

"You sure do work a lot Bruce." Dick observed. "I guess that's why you have so much money. One of the kids at school asked me if you have a money pool like Scrooge McDuck. I told them I'd seen at least one pool and there was water in it, not money."

"It sounds like you might have made some friends today." Bruce told him.

"Yeah." Dick nodded. "This boy I sit next to he also thinks uniforms are dumb. I think you were right this morning. Thank you again for talking to me."

"Anytime Dick." Bruce promised, mussing the boy's hair. Dick giggled. "My door's always open." Bruce walked away leaving Dick standing with Carly.

"Say Dick, how about instead of doing some boring party planning, I take you swimming in the pool?" Carly offered.

"Really?" Dick nodded excitedly. "I'd love that!"

"Let's go get changed them. I'll race you up the stairs!" Carly began jogging up the steps and Dick followed closely behind.
