CH 57
Kanae wore a frown at dinner. In another two weeks her mother was going to go away again for who knew how long, and this time she was taking Grandpa and Cameron with her. The food didn't taste as good tonight, seeing how mommy had to go away again. Mommy had promised she wouldn't be going away any more.
Jeff was here with Nana and Mayu, so was John and Cameron. Nana got Kanae's attention. "Kaene, there's more scalloped taters here."
Kanae shook her head. "I'm OK, Nana."
"You're not eating much," Nana noted.
"Not very hungry."
"Not even fer blueberry pie?" Nana coaxed. "Come on, Kaene, I know you like that."
Kanae glanced up at her. "My name's Kanae."
That got everyone to look at her. "I thought you liked being called Kaene?" Mayu asked.
"I changed me mind, OK?"
"OK." Mayu said blankly.
Kaede eyed Kanae for a moment, then said, "Kanae, I know yer not happy wit me. Can't say as I blame ya. There are many, millions of people some place else that were livin a fairly good life. The got invaders takin over, and if I doan go, they will lose their livelyhood, their homes, their freedom. I gotta go stop it."
Kanae turned to look at her and cried, "But why you, Mom! Can't these people do somethin themselves?"
"They are being tricked," Duncan said. "Tricked and manipulated, Those people haven't seen the danger until it was too late to stop it. That's why we gotta go help'em."
Looking like she was ready to cry, Kanae cried, "But WHY MOM? Why can't someone else do it?"
"We're the only ones who can, dear. I am sorry about that," Kaede offered.
"It's not FAIR!" Kanae cried and broke down to sob a moment. Wiping her face, she looked at Kaede, and said, "Mom, when I git bigger, I'm comin ta help ya, I swear!"
"I should go too," Nana said blankly, which made Jeff and Mayu stare at her.
Nana explained, "Kaede keeps going out ta save people, mostly by herself. I've done nothin ta help. Lettin Kaede take all the risk and grief ... I've just been enjoyin the peace she lets us have. It ain't right she's gotta keep doin this time an time again, an I ain't helpin atall. Kaede, I'm goin with ya."
"Nana, no!" Jeff cried and hugged her.
Mayu joined the hug. "Nana ya can't!"
Nana patted their arms. "Jeff, Mayu, I love ya both dearly. This is somethin Nana has to do."
"Nana," Kaede said firmly, "This is gonna be hard, it's gonna take a long time and we may hafta kill people."
"Nana knows," Nana said quietly. "Still, Nana wants ta do Nana's part."
Slowly, Kaede said, "I'm very glad Nana hasn't had to risk herself. You don't have to do this, Nana."
Nana sat up and firmly said, "Nana does!"
"Nana, you should stay and help me defend our home," Inari said.
"Mom's right," Kaede added. "If somethin happens an they find our where we live, they'll be comin here. I'd feel better knowing you're here with Mom. Not to mention both Jeff an Mayu can't protect themselves. They need Nana here too."
"We do, Nana," Mayu said in a pleading tone.
"But, Nana feels bad Kaede's gotta go by herself again!" Nana complained.
"She's not," Duncan stated. "I'm going with her, so is Cameron and Amanda, and a few others we'll meet along the way. Kaede's not going to face this by herself."
"Nana, you're not ready to face many bad men all at once, I need ta show ya how," Inari stated.
"Show me too, Gramma!" Kanae cheered.
"Just remember kids," Kouta told them, "We can't talk about any of this outside this house. Kaede has the advantage of surprise, if someone hears about it, she will lose that."
It wasn't a happy night, but it was one where they did get few things settled.
.
Two days later Kaede was at the Inn so Rachel could have a couple days off with her husband. Besides the normal clientele, a well build body builder type man in camo came in. He walked up to the bar and asked, "Is Dame Kaede here?"
Kaede came out from the back. "Ya lookin fer me, Lad?"
He smiled. "I am." he handed her a folded paper. Kaede took it and opened it.
It read : I am Captain Peters, SAS. Myself and my platoon of 30 are to assist you however you need us. Please destroy this now.
Kaede waved to Mayu who was the waitress. "Mayu here, put this in the stove. Make sure it burns up completely."
"K, Mom."
Kaede and Captain Peters both watched Mayu put the paper in the stove. The flames licked up briefly then went back down.
"Done!" Mayu called and went back to what she was doing.
Kaede took Peters over to the room register. She found an empty room and handed him the key. "Please take room two, I'll check on ya after the dinner rush."
"Thank you, Ma'am." he said and went upstairs.
Kaede was surprised she was getting professional help. It did please her. Once most of the dinner crowd was gone and Mayu could handle the dart players who stayed, she went up to visit Captain Peters. She knocked on the door.
He opened it up and stepped aside. "Come in."
Kaede did. After he shut the door, she asked, "Ya know what this is about?"
"All I was told was to come here and see you, and that you were our Commanding Officer." he replied.
"Then have a seat lad, this will take a bit."
.
Mr. Yang met with the Chinese Ambassador on the walking / cycling path by the river. Sitting down on a bench they looked out over the water and around to be sure no one was watching.
"The prime minister is getting nervous. Dame Kaede Kikumura is coming representing the English Queen," Mr. Yang said in Chinese.
The ambassador nodded. Also in Chinese he said, "We have heard of that one. Very secretive, very deadly. We will keep an eye on the fights for when she arrives. Random shootings do still happen. I'm afraid she will be hit with a stray bullet. We have good relations with the underworld. She won't make it to the limo that came for her."
"I knew you would take care of this inconvenience," Mr. Yang said with a smile. "There is one coming with her, an assistant. Perhaps they also need to take a permanent nap," he suggested.
The Ambassador waved a hand. "The assistant is nothing. As a witness, I am sure they will be preoccupied with the following investigation long enough for you to console and coax them to return home." He then checked his watch. "Time is up. I must be going."
They waved, the Ambassador left. Mr. Yang waited a few more minutes, then got up and went the other way.
.
Mr. Cunningham was getting ready to go in for the day. His maid, Annetta, came over and said, "Hold on, Sir," and straightened his tie. Quietly, she said, "I got news. Dame Kaede asked me to help keep an eye on the Chinese. The order originated in Scotland."
Mr. Cunningham eyed her. "An order for you, from Scotland?"
She looked to be sure no one was close by and whispered, "I'm your watcher. We watch and record. We cannot interfere. An exception has been made for this one case. I'm to help you keep an eye on whichever Chinese you think needs watching."
Mr. Cunningham laughed. "Well then, do you know who Mr. Yang is?"
"I do Sir, he's one of the advisors to the Prime Minister."
"Then watch him. Let me know where he goes when he's not working. Pictures if you can."
"Will do. Have a good day, Sir," she said and stepped way.
Mr. Cunningham left. He was a little surprised Kaede had somehow contacted Annetta. Apparently, Dame Kaede was digging hard for information.
Going into the Parliament building, Charles Cunningham went through the metal detector and up to the Prime Minister's offices. He noticed a new picture on Valentin's desk. It was a picture of Kaede being knighted by Queen Elizabeth with a big sword, a man in a Scottish kilt assisting her.
Seeing Charles, Mr. Valentin said, "We've got a photo of this Dame Kaede. Odd looking woman, pink hair, and those look like small horns on her head. This isn't at Buckingham palace. It looks more like a pub. Do you know where this is, Mr. Cunningham?"
Charles didn't know where is was but he knew the man helping the Queen hold up that big sword. "Never seen that place before, a pub in London, maybe?" he offered.
"Why the classic Scottish garb?" Valentin asked. "That Kaede isn't Scottish, is she?"
"It may be her father," Mr. Yang stated. "Her maiden name is Kaede McLeod. That may also mean he has ties to the Monarchy as well. I am surprised he didn't have those bone tips removed when she was a child. Such a deformity does not look good."
"It makes her easy to identify," Valentin said. "I wonder if they have anything to do with these powers she supposedly holds."
"Perhaps we should find out," Mr. Yang said with a grin.
.
Since the biggest problem was in Vancouver, Kaede modified her plans. As 'tourists', the SAS would be with Duncan and Amanda, except for two with her and Cameron. John would collect information, Duncan would call John to get when he'd found out. Since they were so far apart, John would be the contact point. Kaede also had the SAS troops begin to travel to Seacouver a few at a time so they didn't arrive as a 'company', but individuals on vacation. Captain Peters would arrange that.
Right up until they left, Kaede kept up visits to Charles Cunningham. She knew right where Valentin's office was, where he came into the grand Parliament building to go to work, the names of his Secretary and advisors and where they usually spend their day. She even knew the bench by the water where Mr. Yang met the Chinese Ambassador once a week. She also had their addresses.
The whole family saw them off at the airport, along with Captain Peters and three other SAS men who were dressed in regular clothes, not uniforms. Every one had a camera. It was a teary goodbye for the family with lots of hugs before they climbed aboard.
John gave them the latest intel to date, the city of Vancouver officially asked for permission for 'visiting' police to be added to the Vancouver police force. The request had to go to Parliament to be voted on.
"Looks like we're leaving none too soon," Kaede noted.
Climbing aboard, they waved at the family as Duncan taxied out, everyone watching waved back.
.
Once they were in the air, Kaede looked back at the men. Who's coming wit me and Cameron?" she asked.
The two men in the back raised their hands. "Sargent Tibbs and Corporal Weaver, Ma'am."
"Nay lads! First names," Kaede told them. I'm Kaede, this is Cameron."
"Frank Tibs, Kaede."
"I'm Neville Weaver ... Kaede," he said pausing, wanting to call her 'Dame'."
"Till we're in Ottawa, we're tourists," Kaede told them. "We'll see how it goes from there."
"Yes Kaede," they chorused.
"Dame Kaede," Captain Peters asked, "I've been thinking. The quickest way to begin solving this dilemma is to hack into their voting system and change the preferences to Canadians, and lowering the vote counts for anyone with a Chinese name."
"That is being worked on, Captain. We also must consider other options if that can't be done."
"A virus into the system may work well, also," Cameron noted. "Getting physical access to the voting machines would be very beneficial."
"Aye, we'll be workin on that too," Kaede agreed. "If we can act discretely, that's best. That is, if we kin an get the job done."
.
Prime Minister Valentin met with the Chinese Ambassador to hear how beneficial more police would be, especially since Canadian taxpayers were relieved from the burden of funding them. He assured Valentine China had nothing but good and friendly intentions with Canada. He also reminded Valentin swaying the parliament vote the proper way would be beneficial to him.
Valentin nodded. He knew the 'gifts' the Ambassador handed out to him were tied to how well he guided Parliament in their decisions. His 'getaway' vacation house in Costa Rica was a prime example. "I am concerned about this Dame Kaede coming from England," he said.
"In three days," the Ambassador said with a nod. "I am sure she will not be a problem at all."
"You are aware of when she is coming?" Valentin asked.
"I keep myself up with events," the Ambassador said with a smile. He didn't add that he knew the flight, time it was to arrive, at what gate, and the assassin knew also.
Later, he talked to Mr. Yang, who assured him Dame Kaede would be waiting for him at her 'suite' when he was ready to see her.
.
After stopping at Kennedy Airport to get checked into the country, Duncan flew to upstate New York to drop off Kaede and company, then flew on to Seacouver.
Kaede had Cameron rent the car for their trip north out of the account Kaede had made for her. They all had passports, so driving up through NY and getting across the border wasn't a big deal. In fact it was a much shorter distance to Ottawa than Kaede expected. By that evening, they were nearing the city a day early. Kaede had them pick a roadside motel to stop at for the night. Frank and Neville were surprised Kaede was willing to stop at such a low class place.
"We're just common tourists, fer now," Kaede reminded them. She planned to be in the Prime Minister's office right when the plane landed. Kaede had a meeting in her room.
Laying an expanded photo of the Parliament building out she pointed to a window and said, "Frank, Neville, tomarra, I'm gonna climb up inta this window right inta the Prime Minister's office. Keep attention off'a me even if ya gotta git inta a pretend scuffle, Make a deal'o giving Cameron a hard time, fight over her, whatever ya gotta do ta keep people's eyes on the ground."
"That window is four stories up," Neville noted.
"Aye, that why ya gotta keep people from seein me," Kaede agreed.
Frank scrutinized the photo. He pointed to a spot and said, "Over here by this wall so we'll draw attention away from anyone who will be looking." he then glared at Neville and said, "I said she was MY date tonight! We'll start there."
Neville chuckled. "I suppose that will work. lots of arm flinging and becoming loud should draw attention to us."
"This will be fun to watch," Cameron said with a smirk.
.
Knowing there were guards and cameras, the next day when they went into Ottawa to sight see, Kaede made sure she had a cap and scarf over her head when they went into the Parliament complex. Kaede wandered closer to the building and found a carving on the wall to study. Across the courtyard, she heard them begin.
"What? NO! I'm taking her out tonight"
"No you're not! Tell him, you're going out with me!"
Kaede glanced to see them on either side of Cameron, yelling at each other. The guards and the people here all turned to see what the yelling was about. She shot herself into the air.
"Like hell she is!" Frank roared. He wrapped an arm around Cameron to pull her to him. "SHE IS MY DATE!"
"STAND IN LINE!" Neville screamed back, and grabbed Cameron's hand to pull her to him. "GO find yourself someone else!"
A guard came up and firmly said, "That's enough of that! You are disturbing people. Take your argument elsewhere of it'll be the paddy wagon for the two of you!"
"But she's MY date!" Frank complained.
Neville raised his head to shake it in disgust and glanced over at the building. Kaede was gone. He held Cameron's hand and said, "Come on I won't be arrested for that nincompoop's actions!" He moved to tow her away.
Frank quickly got on Cameron's other side and grabbed her other hand. "Nincompoop? You see hon, the things he calls people? Do you really want to be around HIM?"
"Quiet down and move along!" the guard stated firmly.
.
Kaede was in, but no one was here in the main office. Hearing voices from the other room, she went to the doorway and listened. She also felt an immortal presence.
"Sir, the plane just parked, they should begin getting off momentarily."
"This is troublesome, Dame Kaede is a Knight, why take a commercial flight? Why not a private or a charter?"
"Don't worry, I am sure our man will identify her."
Kaede peeked slowly into the other room. A man standing was on the phone, Three men and a woman were sitting, watching him.
"We should have had a more formal welcome," the woman said, "She may take offense to this."
"I'm sure she will," the Chinese man said with a smirk.
"The passengers are coming off now."
The man she recognized as Mr. Cunningham smirked at him. "I don't think things are happening like you want them to," he said to the Chinese man.
"They will," he replied firmly.
The man on the phone's jaw dropped. "What do you mean she was shot? ... It was fake? So that wasn't her? ... Where'd the shot come from..." The man turned to the Prime Minister and said, "A woman with a pink wig with horns on it has just been shot! It's chaos there! The wig fell off then she hit the ground!"
"What about this Kaede!" the Chinese man asked.
"Someone tried to kill Dame Kaede?" the woman asked in a high pitched tone.
The man on the phone said, "They aren't seeing her, all the passengers are off the plane."
"Where is Dame Kaede!" the Chinese man asked in a hard tone.
Kaede took her scarf and cap off and stepped out and leaned on the door frame, eyeing them, arms crossed over her chest. The man in the phone gaped at her.
"Well, where is she!" the Chinese man barked.
"Miss yer mark, Lad?" Kaede asked.
Everyone spun their heads to her except Mr. Cunningham. He only smiled. "Greetings, Dame Kaede." he said calmly.
Kaede focused on the chinaman. "If ya got a gun, ya kin try again, here I am."
Mr. Yang shot to his feet. "How?" he barked.
"So, that was yer grand plan, ta kill me? Ya got anythin ta say for ya die?" she asked.
"It was a random shooting!" Mr. Yang yelled. "It wasn't planed! And you have no right to do anything here!"
"Ya finished?" Kaede asked.
"You will do nothing!" Mr. Yang spat.
"Ya kin die now," Kaede stated.
Mr. Yang opened his mouth, then took on a look of shock. He grabbed at his chest, winced then fell to the floor limp.
Mr. Cunningham grinned. "I suppose we better call an ambulance."
The Prime Minister stared at Yang, then Kaede. So did the woman.
"The Chinese Ambassador was in on it too," Kaede said. "Mr. Prime Minister, what ya gonna do bout that?"
Turning to the man still holding the phone, Valentin said, "Call an ambulance, hurry!"
"Excuse me, I asked ya a question," Kaede said and walked into the room.
Valentin turned to her, shock and fear written on his face. "I... I will have this incident investigated!"
"Ya bet'er." Kaede pulled out her appointment and unrolled it. It lifted in the air and held itself up. "Ya bet'er read this Lad. Queen Elizabeth the Second has Appointed me as Governor of Canada. Yer government has breached it's agreement wit'er. Canada is to be governed by it's citizens, not immigrants, yet ya got many in government. Specially in Vancouver. I understand ya want Chinese police policin here too."
Valentin paled. "You ... she can't do that!"
"Aye lad, she kin," Kaede stated. "Ya gotta ask yerself, which is more important, keepin yer baubles and gifts from the Chinese, or keepin yer government intact? I ain't here ta play nice. I will let ya keep yer jobs so long as ya listen an do as I tell ya."
Valentin glanced at the limp Mr. Yang on the floor. "How did you kill him?" he asked weakly.
"Me?" Kaede asked with a raised eyebrow. "I was nowhere near'im. Didn ya see?"
"Prime Minister?" Mr. Cunningham asked, "I highly recommend you listen to Dame Kaede. Rather, Governor Kaede. She will get her way, one way or another, and I think working with her is much better than civil war breaking out. That is what will happen if you don't work with her."
Valentin paled and sat down. "So, you are taking over," he said weakly.
"Aye lad, but if yer smart and follow me instructions, no one else hasta know it. We kin work this crisis out, and I kin git back home and leave ya ta do yer thing. Or, I'm forced ta address Parliament an tell'em like i'tis, then there's sure ta be big trouble," Kaede explained.
The woman spoke up. "Dame Kaede?" she said meekly, "I must ask if you are here just to enforce the Queen's will, or remove the Chinese influences from Canadian government."
"Who are ya lass?"
"Joslyn Price. Assistant and advisor to Prime Minister Valentin."
Kaede nodded slightly. Her appointment notice rolled itself up and she put it away. "The big reason I'm here, Mrs. Price, is to make sure your citizens here are not displaced and become poor under communist rule. If things keep going the way they are, that's where yer headed. China will let ya keep yer government til they got enough pull ta change everythin. Have ya looked at Hong Kong? They used ta be democratic. Now, to even mention democracy there gits ya put in jail. Ya think Canada will be any different?"
"You're here for the people," Mrs. Price stated.
"Aye, thought I just said that," Kaede replied, eyeing her.
Mr. Cunningham pursed his lips to hold back a chuckle. "Mrs. Price, Kaede is for the common person on the street."
"What did you want me to do?" Valentin asked weakly.
Kaede turned to him. "First off, follow yer agreement wit the Queen. When ya go parliament in a couple days, ya stress Canada is fer Canadians, ta be ruled by and protected by Canadians. Ya reject Chinese holding any office or patrolin Canadian streets in the strongest terms possible. Ya stand up fer yer country steada yerself. Ya also hunt down and find out who shot that innocent woman at the airport taday. Mr. Deadman on the floor there and the Chinese Ambassador was behind it. I know it and you know it, but ya gotta git law enforcement ta prove it."
Kaede's phone rang. she picked it up. "Kaede."
"Frank, everything Ok?"
"Aye, goin decent so far. I'll be a while, tell 715 ta mind the sheep."
"You got it."
Kaede closed her phone up to see Valentin eye her. "You have operatives here," he said.
"No one of consequence. Just infermation seekers. Not yer concern," Kaede told him. Kaede moved to leave, then stopped. "By the way, Mr. Prime Minister, I'll be watching when ya address Parliament. If ya doan do as I ask and at least reject any law enforcement beside Canadian, it's gonna be bad fer yer health."
"Governor Kaede," Mr. Cunningham said and got up. "Perhaps I could acquire suite for you in the hotel across the street?"
"Just Dame, please," Kaede told him. "I already have someone doin that, but thank ya fer the thought. I'll be by later. Mrs. Price, would ya see me out?"
Mrs. Price got up immediately. "Yes, Dame Kaede, let me show you out."
The two women left. Valentin sat staring at nothing.
"I did tell you Dame Kaede was trouble with a capital 'T'," Mr. Cunningham said.
"She... was on the other side of the room, and she killed him!" Valentin said weakly. "How did she get off that plane, and be here in my office before that passengers even got off?"
Mr. Cunningham shrugged. "How does Dame Kaede do anything? I don't know. What I do know is unless you listen to her, you will be in a world of shit."
.
The Chinese Ambassador was happy. The assassin removed Dame Kaede with a singe shot and got away his man had reported. He sat on the bench by the river and waited for Mr. Yang to come tell him the Prime Minister's reaction. He sat back and closed his eyes. Today was a good day, nice weather and plans were going well.
Hearing someone approach, he opened his eyes, then stared.
Dame Kaede approached him, eyes fixed on him. "Surprised ta see me?" she asked.
"I thought you'd been killed," he replied.
"Nay lad, but ya will be."
A sudden pain flared in his chest, he gasped and stared at her. The pain grew, he felt dizzy, the dizziness grew until he passed out.
Kaede had cut the nerves to his heart to stop it beating. She watched him go limp, and kept on walking.
.
Duncan landed in Secouver to find two of Captain Peters' men waiting for them. One had a map they showed on the hood of their SUV after they left the terminal.
"We got a two good paths into Canada. One is by fishing boat, there' so many there, no one takes notice of it. You just have to watch out for the Chinese boats, they do 'accidentally' bang into Canadian boats fairly often. We've found they do pay for damage done, if it can be proven it was their boat that did the damage or sunk the Canadian boat. The thing is, boats getting repaired aren't fishing. The fishermen aren't happy about that. The other entry is just up through the woods to the east. Ten men have a camp near Cultus Lake east of Vancouver, ten more have a place in Deep Cove, right on the north edge of Vancouver. Both these places have locals that are very angry the Chinese are taking over city positions and modifying every law they can to assist more Chinese coming in. They hide our guys too when a Chinese 'survey taker' comes around to get head counts."
"They want to know where mal contents are," Duncan stated.
"Probably why they are pushing to get Chinese police in also, to arrest the mal contents on some charge they made up." Captain Peters stated.
"Yeah," the SAS man in lumberjack clothes agreed. "To help keep people safe, they question everyone who doesn't live there. So far, they aren't taking action because real Mounties are watching them."
"Got any information on who's who in the city government?" Duncan asked.
"The guys up in the camps are searching for that. We go in a few at a time and search. We did find a brand new apartment building for the Chinese. It looks a little more like army barracks if you ask me. Apartments usually don't have guard patrolling the perimeter." the man said.
Captain Peter's sighed. "We need listening devices. Lots of them, and people who speak Chinese well."
"Aye," Duncan agreed. "And be smart too, if this is all the help we're gonna get."
"Start at the camp in Deep Cove?' Captain Peters asked.
"Aye, in a fast fishing boat so we don't get rammed," Duncan agreed. "Do those Chinese boats port here?"
"Initially coming in, they get supplies, go out fishing and return to China, from that I know. Between that and banging up Canadian boats, the Canadian fishing industry is hurting."
"Kaede needs to know that," Duncan said and called her.
.
Kaede was glad Duncan called her so soon. She went to the Prime Minister and informed him about what was happening in the Fishing industry in Vancouver the day before he was to meet with the Parliament. She insisted he speak about foreign infringement on Canadian fishing rights, as well as damaging Canadian fishing boats. Cameron got some videos of Canadian boats being rammed by Chinese boats right in the straight of Georgia which was between Vancouver and Vancouver island. Kaede insisted he show these videos as proof of what China was doing.
Cameron also found a video of masked men going into a news station in Vancouver to smash cameras and equipment and set a couple fires before they ran out. The station was one who did investigative pieces on what was happening in Vancouver. Kaede insisted these be shown also.
Valentin wasn't aware the problem was so bad, or the Chinese were being so blatant. Watching the videos, he began to understand that the Chinese were taking over Vancouver. First he called the Chinese Embassy to talk to the assistant Ambassador. He sent his condolences for the Ambassador who died of a heart attack, then insisted the Chinese fishing ships stop coming into Canadian waters. The Assistant ambassador told him those were civilian craft, and the Government had no power over them. Valentin then called for more Mounties in the area, and alerted the coast Guard to turn away Chinese ships in Canadian waters. If they refused to leave, sinking them was acceptable.
Kaede listened to the call, then called Duncan and told him to sink every Chinese ship they could find. Without gunfire, if possible.
.
The day of the Parliament meeting, Kaede attended as an observer. She just wanted to hear what went on. Valentin knew she wanted to make sure he spoke about what she told him to. Without Mr. Yang in his ear and with Dame Kaede, who proved she was a witch, and he knew he was a dead man if he didn't follow her wishes, he spoke loud and strong against what China was doing on the west coast and showed videos to prove it, he got Parliament to take a vote on removing the Chinese from Canada. The vote was 75% in favor of removing China. The vote to make it mandatory for anyone running for any office to be a Canadian citizen for a minimum of 8 years was also passed.
Now, Kaede could get military forces involved.
.
One thing the SAS guys were good at was making explosives and shaped charges. In Seacouver, Duncan acquired a fishing boat while they got some metal and ingredients for the charges. The cone shaped heads they put on thin pipe spears. Hitting the hull of another ship, they would make a deep hole when they went off. It took a few days to get everything together, then they left port and raised a Canadian flag up on the mast and went searching for a Chinese fishing ship.
There was no fishing gear on board and the holds were empty. Passing into Canadian waters, they found a Chinese fishing ship heading out to sea. Spotting them, the ship turned to intercept. Duncan was at the helm, all four SAS men stood on deck, the spears at their feet.
"Listen up! Duncan, keep turning to avoid enough to keep then turning until the get closer. When I say now, full throttle and then run across their path. Boys, wait till we're mid ships and starting to pass the stern before you throw!" Captain Peters yelled.
Duncan did as he asked turning enough to make the bigger ship keep turning to intercept.
"NOW!" Peters barked. Duncan put the throttle to full as he spun the wheel. Slower turning, the big ship missed them, but not by much.
"Stay close to it, get ready men, aim for the waterline!"
The big ship passed by, Captain Peters yelled, "Throw!"
Four spears sailed over to hit the water just before hitting the ship. All four exploded, sending spray shooting up into the air. The SAS man picked up four more spears and threw them before they passed, making four more explosions. On the Chinese ship, shocked looks were cast at them. An alarm went off and the ship's engine died.
As Duncan turned back on course, life boats were hitting the water and the ship was listing over.
One down. They had six spears left.
Sailing to Vancouver, they were in the straights to see another Chinese fishing boat coming out of the bay. This one turned away to go north.
"Chase them down," Captain Peters said.
Duncan throttled up to max. Not being weighed down with supplies, Duncan's boat was somewhat smaller and faster. As they slowly closed, men came out on the Chinese boat to wave them away. One came out holding an AK-47 to warn them away. Seeing this Duncan left the wheelhouse to grab a spear and stand ready to throw.
The Chinese ship turned away. Duncan judged the distance, and where they would be and threw his spear. It arched up and came down behind the wheelhouse. The explosion knocked all the men visible down. Duncan went back to the helm and turned towards the ship as men on that ship screamed in pain. As they got beside it, Captain Peters yelled, "Up and throw!"
Four spears hit low on the hull, three of them under the waterline. Another spear went over and right into the wheelhouse. The windows exploded out and there was more screaming. that ship kept turning. Duncan sailed back for the bay.
Duncan noted this was all in sight of a town, and many small figures were watching. As he sailed into the bay, many figures had their arms up and were clapping. A few cheers drifted out over the water.
Thankfully, no other Chinese flagged ships came out. They were out of spears. Duncan docked near Deep Cove. They tied up and walked the rest of the way. people, men and women came out to shake their hands and promised to swear that they hadn't seen a thing.
