Chapter 5: Kylie
Prince tossed and turned while having a nightmare. He whimpered and bit down on his pillow while sweating bullets. Then suddenly he shot up from his and screamed. "Emily!" Prince shouted. While breathing hard and realizing where he was, Prince broke down into tears. Rad was in his room and heard Prince scream. He rushed over to Prince's room and found him in his bed crying. "Are you okay mate?" Rad asked, stepping closer to the husky. "Go away! I'm fine," Prince snapped. Rad knew better and sat down on Prince's bed. "Hey, you can talk to me," Rad said, placing his hand on Prince's hand. "It was about Emily," Prince replied. "A nightmare about her?" Rad asked. Prince nodded in response. "I once had nightmares about her and so did Bandit," Rad explained. "You both did?" Prince asked Rad nodded. "It was after the accident I had nightmares where she didn't make it along with Charlie or she didn't make it and Charlie did," Rad explained. "I'm sorry to hear that, it must have been Traumatic," Prince said, looking at Rad. "You have no idea," Rad said, looking at Prince.
Prince looked at the time and noticed it was 5 am. "It's time for me to go for a run," Prince said, getting out of bed. "Oh, do you want me to go with you mate?" Rad asked as he watch Prince get his stuff ready. "No I'll be okay you can do whatever Heelers do," Prince said before leaving the room. "Do whatever Heelers do?" Rad questioned. Prince walked out to the street and started to run down to the park. For the next two hours Prince was running and now making his way back to his penthouse until he stopped at a coffee cart and noticed someone from his past, getting their coffee and a croissant. "Kylie?" Prince said looking at a gray husky, taking off his headphones. "Oh no Prince," Kylie said, seeing the husky. "What are you doing here?" Prince asked. "I could ask you the same thing," Kylie said, taking her coffee and croissant. "I live just around the corner from here," Prince explained with a smile. "Great, the last dog I want to see lives in the one city I've always wanted to live in," Kylie said as she started walking away. "Kylie, wait!" Prince said as he tried to stop her.
"Prince, I don't want to hear what you have to say, you really hurt me," Kylie said, trying to walk past Prince. "Kylie let's just talk please, it's not really the same since my sister, your best friend past away," Prince said, still trying to stop Kylie. "I know… she meant a lot to me but you… I… fine let's meet somewhere but I have to get to work now," Kylie said now pushing past Prince. "Do you still have my number?" Prince called to Kylie. "Yep!" Kylie said as she turned the corner. "Great," Prince said to himself as he started to make his way home. Rad was on a video call with Bandit and tried to convince his brother that Prince is changing for the better. "He really is making progress mate, you should talk to him," Rad said looking at his brother. "I don't know mate. I'm still upset with him for turning my son against me and you know my son is everything to me, all my kids are," Bandit said, crossing his arms. "I know mate, but please try to see his change," Rad said Bandit was about to say something but Prince came home. "Hey mate, how was your run?" Rad asked, looking at the husky.
"Um… it was fine… I ran into… wait are you talking to Bandit?" Prince asked as he walked up to the computer. "Hey Bandit," Prince said nervously. "Hey mate," Bandit said in depressing tone. "How's my nephew?" Prince asked. "He's doing better," Bandit replied "good, tell him I love him and I miss him," Prince said calmly. "Yeah, I will mate," Bandit said softly. "I better go," Bandit said Awkwardly. "Oh okay mate, talk to you soon," Rad replied. Bandit then hung up the video call quickly leaving Rad and Prince alone. "Told you he hates me," Prince said, going to his kitchen. "He doesn't hate you mate, he just hate what you did," Rad said looking at Prince. "Heh, I hate what I did," Prince said making a protein shake. "Well you should, you knew how much Thomas's means to Bandit," Rad explained. "Yeah, I know, that's why I did it," Prince answered while making his protein shake. "Why did you do it? Why did you pin my nephew against his own father?" Rad asked curiously. "I was angry, my dad once missed my birthday after we were getting along and then I hated him for it for a long time," Prince explained "of course I had mom and Emily but dads… they should be there too," Prince explained while drinking his shake.
"But Bandit thought he was going to have Bluey that night," Rad said as he stood up and walked over to the kitchen. "Well I get that now, I was stupid and angry at him for hurting my nephew," Prince said now looking down. "Hey, you're sorry now and that's what matters," Rad said, trying to make light of the situation. "Yeah," Prince said while drinking his shake. "Hey you said you ran into someone earlier, who was that?" Rad asked, looking at the husky. "Oh, um… you don't know her but Bandit does, her name is Kylie," Prince said blushing under his fur.
"Ah, someone you like?" Rad teased. "Well we were a thing and then I messed that up too," Prince said with a sad face. "What happened mate?" Rad asked. "I slept with her and then left the next morning without saying goodbye," Prince answered. "Yikes mate, that's not good," Rad said. "Yeah, total dick move," Prince said while finishing his shake. "Yeah…" Rad said. "So I have to go to practice and you can go do whatever you want," Prince said, getting his stuff ready. "Have a good practice mate," Rad said sitting down at the island. "Yeah, thanks," Prince said while going out the door. Rad sighed as he started to make himself breakfast. Prince went down to the car garage and got into his car and drove to the stadium. While driving to the stadium he thought about his past with Kylie from when she was just his kid sister's friend.
(Flashback)
"Prince! Give me back my doll!" Emily cried to her brother. "Then stay out of my room!" Prince growled. "I only wanted to borrow some paper to draw!" Emily cried trying to grab her doll. "And all you had to do was ask!" Prince said, still holding his sister's doll. "Why do you have to be so tall!" Emily Complained. "Because, dad's tall!" Prince said with a smirk. "Give it!" Emily shouted. "I got it!" Kylie Emily's friend said jumping up and grabbing the doll. "Hey!" Prince said, looking at Emily's friend. "Better luck next time," Kylie said as she and Emily went to her room. Prince shook his head and then went back to his room.
Ten years later…
Kylie was packing her stuff into her car getting ready for college. "Need help?" Prince asked, looking at Kylie. "Help? From you? I'd rather kiss Duke than get help from you," Kylie said coldly. "Come on Kylie don't be like that," Prince said while crossing his arms. "I thought you would be long gone by now," Kylie said while continuing to put boxes in her car. "I don't leave for a few days," Prince answered. "Well I don't need your help," Kylie said just as she tripped with a box in her hand. Prince then caught her and helped her get her footing back. "Um… thanks," Kylie said, standing straight. "Have you talked to Em lately?" Prince asked. "I have," Kylie said as she finished putting boxes away. "How is she doing?" Prince asked. "Better, since the miscarriage, why don't you talk to her?" Kylie asked, looking at Prince. "She hates me still since…" Prince said trailing off. "Since you beat the crap out of her boyfriend in the bathroom after meeting your parents… yeah she told me all about it and you're an asshole for doing that," Kylie said looking at Prince.
"Do you blame me? He got her pregnant when she's at the top of her class," Prince protested. "That was her choice! She loved him and wanted a life with him and you tried like always to ruin it for her," Kylie said getting into her car. "We'll now, they're no more," Prince said, looking into Kylie's car. "Yeah, but don't you dare ruin this new relationship she has or else you'll be sorry," Kylie said as she started her car. "You're the only dog I know who can challenge me and get away with it," Prince said with a smirk. "I'm going to regret saying this," Kylie said to herself before looking at Prince. "Well ever since we were kids, I had a crush on you," Kylie confessed. Prince was surprised by this. "You did?" Prince asked. "Yep, I'll see you later Huskin," Kylie said as she drove away heading off to her college leaving Prince on the side of the road.
(End of Flashback)
Prince ended his practice and then looked at his phone. There was a text message from Kylie.
(Texting)
Kylie: Hey
Prince: Hey
Kylie: Meet me at Mary's bar and grill
Prince: on my way
Prince then puts his phone away and leaves to go meet Kylie. While waiting at the bar and grill Prince ordered himself a coke and waited for Kylie. "Hey jerk," Kylie said from behind Prince. "Still with the names?" Prince asked as Kylie sat down. "Well you still are one," Kylie said looking at the red and white husky. "Right," Prince said looking down. "How are your parents these days?" Kylie asked. "Good for the most part," Prince answered. "And Thomas? How's he holding up since Emily's passing?" Kylie asked while taking a drink of water. "Struggling but he's a strong kid," Prince answered. "Yeah, he gets that from both Emily and Bandit," Kylie said while playing with her straw. "How have you been?" Prince asked. "I've been good," Kylie answered. "Good, seeing anyone?" Prince asked. "Wouldn't you like to know," Kylie chuckled. "It's just a question Kylie," Prince asked. "No, I'm not, not since you and I… well yeah not since then," Kylie explained. "Oh okay," Prince said looking down. "How about you? Are you seeing anyone?" Kylie asked. "No, just girls here and there," Prince answered. "Of course, the big bad Prince gets what he wants and then pushes dogs away," Kylie said with a chuckle while shaking her head. "Kylie…" Prince started to say. "Don't Prince… I opened up to you… you were more than just my best friend's brother and…" Kylie started but held back some tears. "I loved you," Kylie confessed. Prince didn't know what to say or how to answer Kylie.
Kylie then shook her head. "This was a mistake, I shouldn't have come here," Kylie said as she stood up and was about to leave. "Kylie, wait!" Prince said, going after her. "Kylie!" Prince said, grabbing her at the door. "Don't touch me! You hurt me! And all I ever wanted to do is show you love!" Kylie shouted now looking at Prince in his eyes. "I've changed Kylie, I swear I have, me and Rad have been talking and…" Prince started to explain but Kylie cut him off. "Wait, Rad? As in Emily's Rad?" Kylie asked Prince nodded. "I Thought you hated him?" Kylie asked. "I did but… he saved when no one else would," Prince answered as he pulled Kylie closer to him. "Kylie please…" Prince said softly. Kylie noticed this change in Prince that she hasn't seen before. Kylie placed her hands on Prince's muzzle and looked at him. Kylie then leaned in and kissed him. Prince kissed her back and the two started to get heated. Back at Prince's Penthouse the two continued their heat and were all over each other. Heading back to Prince room the two were never so close than before.
