Chapter 48: Bingo's birthday

Thomas and Bluey walk through the shopping center looking for a birthday present for their sister. "I'm bored!" Bluey groaned. "You wanted to come with me," Thomas said as they walked along. "I know, but why are we taking so long," Bluey complained. "We have to find the perfect present for Bingo," Thomas said while looking into shops. "Thomas?" Bluey asked her older brother. "Yes blue?" Thomas said looking at his younger sister. "I realized that this is the first birthday you'll be at for Bingo," Bluey pointed out. "Your right blue, this is the first birthday for me," Thomas said with a smile. "Which is why I have to pick the perfect gift for her," Thomas said as he looked into another shop. "Like you picked the perfect one for me?" Bluey asked as she looked down at her watch. "Yeah, just like the one I picked out for you," Thomas said with a smile.

"How will we know we picked the right one?" Bluey asked as she went into a shop with her brother. "I guess we'll know when we find it," Thomas said while looking at the toys. "At least she's with aunt Trixie and Muffin getting her nails done for her birthday," Thomas while still looking at toys. "You know blue, you could have gone with them," Thomas said, now looking at his sister. "But I wanted to be with you," Bluey said looking at her brother. Thomas smiled at that and then kneeled down to Bluey's level. "Are you sure you wanted to stay with me?" Thomas asked with a smile. "Yeah, we don't spend a lot of time together, just bring us," Bluey said with a blush. "You're right blue," Thomas said, rubbing the top of his sister's head. Bluey smiled at her brother as he stood up. "Alright let's find our sister something she'll like," Thomas said as he continued to look through toys.

"What about this?" Thomas asked as he showed Bluey a puppet of a pony. "I don't think so," Bluey said, shaking her head. "Maybe this?" Bluey said, showing Thomas a sun hat for kids. "Nah," Thomas said, shaking his head. "This is hard," Bluey said with a sad look on her face. "Don't worry Bluey, we'll figure it out," Thomas said with a Reassuring smile. "Okay," Bluey said with a smile. "Let's go to another shop," Thomas said as he took his sister's hand and they walked out of the shop they were in. Thomas and Bluey continued to look around for the perfect gift for their sister but still couldn't find one. Thomas and Bluey then sat down at a water fountain that was in the middle of the shopping center. "Do we give up and call mum and dad?" Bluey asked, looking at her brother. "No, maybe we can get something to eat and then continue looking," Thomas said as he stood up. "Okay," Bluey said as she stood up and followed her brother.

The two dogs got some food and sat down and ate before continuing on their search for the perfect girl for their little sister. "Thomas?" Bluey asked as she started eating her burger. "Yeah?" Thomas asked while eating his food. "Was it always hard for you to pick presents on our birthdays?" Bluey asked. Thomas was a little surprised by this question. "Um… well…" Thomas said while rubbing the back of his neck. Now realizing it he never really picked out his presents for his sisters, his mom picked them out and sent them out to them. "Listen blue… I never really picked them out when they were sent out to you," Thomas explained. "Really? Then who picked them out?" Bluey asked, confused. "My mom did, she just signed my name on them," Thomas confessed. "Oh," Bluey said, lowering her head down in sadness. "Look blue, other dogs may say I'm a good brother but I'm not," Thomas confessed. "But you are! Your best brother I could ever ask for! You made that sign for my bake sale," Bluey said hoping to cheer her brother up.

"That maybe true, but I wasn't the best at being there for your birthdays and getting you things, my mom did those things and just put my name on them saying they were from me," Thomas said looking down from his sister. "But it's important that your here now big brother," Bluey said placing her hand on her brothers. Thomas perked up and smiled at his sister. "Thanks blue," Thomas said softly.

"Hey sweetheart, what do you think about this for your sister?" Emily asked, showing her son a ball pit tent for Bingo. "I guess…" Thomas said while playing on his tablet. "You didn't even look at it," Emily said, trying to get her son's attention. Thomas continued to play on his tablet. "Thomas!" Emily shouted, scaring her son. "What!" Thomas said rather rudely. "Don't talk to me like that," Emily said, giving her son a look. "I'm sorry," Thomas said looking down. "I need your approval for this, will Bingo like this?" Emily asked. "I don't know, she's turning three I guess so," Thomas said, going back to his tablet. Emily sighed and she grabbed her son's tablet. "Hey!" Thomas groaned.

"This is serious, will your sister like it or not!" Emily asked, getting in her serious tone. Thomas had an angry look on his face. "Why don't you ask Bandit or Chilli about it!" Thomas shouted at his mother. "Hey! That is your dad and stepmother and you will show them respect!" Emily said. "Well I wish they were anything to me!" Thomas shouted as he ran off to his room. "That's it, you're grounded!" Emily shouted to him. "Fine! Who cares anyways!" Thomas shouted back as he slammed his door. Emily shook her head as she looked at that ball pit tent on her tablet. "She should like this," Emily said as she pressed the order.

Thomas and Bluey continued looking in shops until they found something. "Look!" Bluey pointed out looking in a window at a shop. "A gumball machine?" Thomas asked. "It's perfect!" Bluey cheered. "Okay, let's see how much it is," Thomas said as he and Bluey went into the shop with the gumball machine. Thomas went up to the gumball Machines and see how much they were.

"89!" Thomas said, looking at the large gumball machine. "But it's perfect for Bingo!" Bluey said, looking at her brother. "I know… but it's twice her size and a little expensive," Thomas said looking at his sister while rubbing the back of his neck. "You could win that gumball machine actually," one of the workers said. Bluey and Thomas both looked at the worker. "Really how?" Thomas asked. "Enter in this skateboard competition and you could win it," The worker said with a smile as he handed Thomas a flyer for the competition. "Thomas! You skate all the time! You could win it for Bingo!" Bluey said with a smile. "I don't know blue…" Thomas said, looking at the flyer. "It's something to think about," The worker said before leaving. "Please Thomas," Bluey said with her please face. Thomas chuckled with a smile. "Well… it does light up when you get the gumball," Thomas said with a smile. "Hooray!" Bluey shouted.

Thomas and Bluey then went over to where the event was being held. Thomas signed for the event and then waited for it to start. "You can do it big brother!" Bluey said with excitement. "Yeah I hope so," Thomas said with no confidence in himself. "What's wrong?" Bluey asked. "What if I don't win it blue? Then this would be for nothing and Bingo would be disappointed in me," Thomas said looking down. "She wouldn't be disappointed in you," Bluey said as she held her brother's hand. "Yes! Yes she would and you would too," Thomas said as he sat down. "No I wouldn't," Bluey said as she sat down next to Thomas. "Yes you would, I never try hard to be the best brother for you or for Bingo when I was younger," Thomas cupping his hands together and covering his face. "But you are the best brother," Bluey said, hugging Thomas.

Bandit looked at his wife with tears in his eyes. "I wish he didn't hate me to be there for his sisters," Bandit said putting his phone down. "It going to be okay," Chilli said putting hands on her husbands muzzle and kissing him softly. "I know but… I want him to be apart of their lives," Bandit said looking into Chilli's eyes. "And he will… just give him time," Chilli said, hoping to calm down her husband. "Okay," Bandit said softly. "Daddy! We need to sing happy birthday to Bingo!" Bluey shouted to her parents. "Come on, let's give our daughter the best birthday possible," Chilli said as she guided her husband to the dining room.

"We're ready to start," said a worker at the event. Thomas looked at the worker and nodded. "You can do it," Bluey said to her brother, rubbing his back. "What if I can't?" Thomas asked, looking at her. "Yes you can!" Bluey said cheerfully. Thomas took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay," Thomas said standing up. "Hooray!" Bluey cheered as Thomas and her went to the skateboard competition. Bluey sat on the sidelines and watched her brother do his thing. Thomas and two other dogs were in the competition. "You can do it big brother!" Bluey cheered for her brother. "Okay contestants! Each of you will compete in this freestyle trick show with your skateboards in order to win your very own gumball machine!" The host explained. The crowd cheered as the contestants each got ready for their turn.

The first two dogs went and did their thing and then it was Thomas's turn. "Okay, if you can beat the previous scores of your opponents then you win the gumball machine!" The host said with a smile. Thomas swallowed hard as he looked down the ramp. "Okay," Thomas said as took a deep breath and went down the ramp. "Come on big brother!" Bluey cheered loudly for her brother. Thomas was doing well for the most part, doing his tricks and keeping his focus. Bluey continued to cheer for her brother as he kept doing tricks although Thomas was doing good there was still

Something in the back of his mind of being a good brother. Thomas lost focus for a split second and fell off the skateboard. Thomas lands hard on the ground as the crowd gasp. "Thomas!" Bluey shouted to her brother as he fell to the ground.

(Flashback)

"It's your sister's birthday! You need to stop being selfish!" Emily shouted. "I don't care!" Thomas shouted while trying to walk away. "Don't walk away from me young pup," Emily shouted as she followed her son. "Why should I even care! Bingo is only my half sister and so is Bluey!" Thomas shouted as he went into his room. "That doesn't matter! She is your sister! They both are!" Emily said while following her son into his room. "I wish they weren't!" Thomas shouted out of anger. "You don't mean that!" Emily said surprised in her son's words. "Yes I do! If dad didn't have them maybe he'd be here with me!" Thomas shouted before laying down on his bed looking away from his mother.

"Is that what you think?" Emily asked. "If he didn't have Bluey then he would've been here on my birthday," Thomas said, still looking away. "Honey, we have been over this, your dad was heartbroken missing your birthday," Emily said as she sat down on her son's bed. Thomas teard up and cried into his pillow. "You can't blame your sisters because of that, it's not fair to them," Emily said, rubbing her son's back. "When will

it ever be fair to me? They have both of their parents and I only have one," Thomas said looking at Emily. Emily's heart broke thinking about that. "I know sweetheart and I'm sorry," Emily said Hugging her son. "I just want dad back," Thomas said as he cried into Emily's arms. I know sweetheart I know," Emily said while hugging her son.

(End of Flashback)

Thomas got up and shook himself off and continued his hardest to win that present for his sister. "Yeah! Thomas!" Bluey shouted for her brother. Thomas did a few more tricks and then his turn was over. The scores came on the Monitor, Thomas made second place only because he fell off his skateboard. "No," Thomas said looking down. Everyone cleared the event as Thomas walked back to his sister. "You did good, big brother," Bluey said with a smile. "But I didn't win Bingo her gumball machine," Thomas said disappointed. "No, but you won her the smaller one," Bluey pointed out. "I did?" Thomas asked. "Yep kid, you did," the host said as he handed Thomas the smaller gumball machine. "Thanks," Thomas said, taking the smaller gumball machine. The host nodded before leaving. "I guess it's better than nothing," Thomas said, handing Bluey the gumball machine. "She's going to love it big brother," Bluey said with a smile. Thomas smiled at his sister and rubs the top of her head.

Back at home, family and friends got together for Bingo's birthday. When it was time for presents Bluey and Thomas gave Bingo her present from them. Bingo opened her present and was surprised by the gumball machine. "A gumball machine!" Bingo said holding up the present. Bandit pulled his son aside. "She really likes your present son," Bandit said with a smile. "I'm glad she does," Thomas looking at his sisters enjoyment. "Is something the matter mate?" Bandit asked, noticing his son seemed sad. "When I was younger dad, I blamed my sisters on their birthdays because you missed mine and I always told mom to just pick something for them that truly wasn't from me," Thomas explained looking down from his father. "But mate you got her this gumball machine and Bluey that watch when it was her birthday," Bandit said, placing his hands on his son's shoulders. "I promise that I'll be more involved in their birthdays from now on," Thomas said looking at Bandit. "That's my boy," Bandit said softly as he hugged his son while wagging his tail. Thomas hugged his father back and wagged his tail. "Who's ready for cake!" Chilli called. "Come on dad, let's see how good your duck cake is," Thomas teased. "Hey! I think I did a good job!" Bandit said with a chuckle as he and his son went back to their family and friends.
