A/N: Not some of my best writing, but I did want to give Eileen a bigger role. Unpopular opinion, but she was fucking awesome. The "blurry wife" just didn't do her justice. I also wanted to tie Kevin back in, since I took out his original plotline. This story is written parallel to, with, and through the canon plotline.

Finally, let's talk for a second about the logistics of Sam and Dean driving to Alaska to in January, which is when this episode aired.

They're driving to Alaska, from the United States.

In. January.

In an impala.

Like… seriously? That's just sloppy writing.

I mean come on. This is like that episode where the writers forgot Cas could see demons. Like, it's not that hard.

Anyway, I don't own Supernatural (actually I'm fixing a lot of their plot flaws).

***Ember POV***

January 27th

There was a good hour or two of confusion after Castiel, Domiel, and Gabriel returned from Heaven. There was a fair amount of hugging and lots of explanations. Dean shouted at things and was angry, Ember took a pill to calm down, Krissy ranted that she wished she had been there, and Sam held Eileen's hand.

"What are you even doing here?" Dean asked Kevin when his presence was finally addressed. "You're supposed to be in Heaven."

"Yeah, not so much," said Kevin.

"Chuck said he was sending you to Heaven," accused Dean. Ember knew that after Sam had killed Kevin while possessed by Gadreel, Kevin had stuck around as a ghost until Chuck had sent him to Heaven.

"Yeah, what he said… not what he did," said Kevin.

"He lied about that too?" asked Jack. "Why!?"

"Turns out, God's a dick," said Dean to Kevin.

In the end, they decided to wait for Castiel, hoping that he could help Kevin get into Heaven.

Ember stayed in the bunker after they fought Chuck – partly because everyone wanted to be together, partly in honor of her newly repaired friendship with Dean, partly because she couldn't find the will to leave, and mostly to be close to the action.

The day after the fight with Chuck was slow, as most of them were nursing hangovers. (Eileen was the only one sober, but she was seven months pregnant, and Dean observed that that was "basically the same thing, without all the fun of drinking.") Eventually, they got up and around. Dean volunteered to go get food and gas, and Ember rallied Eileen and Kevin to begin cracking open books about how to defeat Chuck.

"Are you sure there's even any point?" Kevin asked wearily.

Ember gave him a meaningful look that turned questioning. "You're really lacking the whole instinctual 'I want to get revenge' thing as a ghost, huh?"

"You've got me all wrong," he said, fixing her with an icy glare. "He's definitely at the top of my hit list. But it's God…" Suddenly both of them heard a loud clanging, followed by Dean's arrival.

"Sammy!" Dean yelled as they all made their way into the situation room. "Sammy!"

"Dean?" Sam asked as he came running, tripping on his way into the room.

Ember's eyebrows shot up, and Kevin shot her a confused look. Eileen just looked worried. They had never seen Sam trip.

"Was that a trip?" Dean asked, apparently as surprised as Ember and Kevin.

"Yeah," Sam said, looking embarrassed and confused. "Weird."

"There's a lot of that goin' on," said Dean. "In town, I just got a parking ticket."

"Because you always park in front of that fire hydrant?" Sam asked gesticulating.

"Hah!" said Ember, who had gotten two tickets already for parking in front of the same fire hydrant. "I told you that would catch up with you too eventually!"

"No!" Dean exclaimed. "I mean, yes. I park there every time. But I've never gotten a ticket before!"

Ember caught Sam's eye and laughed.

"And," Dean continued, "This doesn't work." He held up a credit card and slammed it onto the table.

Ember and Sam looked at each other in alarm. "That's the card Charlie hacked for us," said Sam. "The one-…"

"Yeah," said Dean, "The one that's supposed to be our 'no more hustling, always working' Golden Ticket. Nothing."

"Weird," said Sam.

"That's what I'm saying!" exclaimed Dean.

"Are we at risk of being picked up for fraud?" Ember asked, suddenly concerned. She was pretty sure she had used that card during her time as a demon.

Sam looked worried too. "I'll have to check." He sneezed.

Ember and Eileen caught each other's eye in alarm.

"Are you getting sick?" asked Dean.

"I don't know," said Sam. "Maybe. Oh, and dinner's-…" he sneezed again.

"Guys, you've never been sick," Ember said. "Either of you. Ever."

They had talked about it a few times, actually. Ember's demonic side gave her a natural resistance, but Dean and Sam had also always had extremely healthy immune systems. The only time she ever remembered them getting sick was when Pestilence was around.

"Man, this day," said Dean. "What's next?"

The phone began to ring.

It was Garth, who requested their help with a case.

"Are you sure you guys should go?" Ember asked.

Eileen protested, "Sam, I think you're getting sick."

"We'll be fine," Dean said, shooting her his winning smile. "We always are."

***Ember POV***

January 28th

Ember and Eileen called Sam the next morning on Eileen's tablet. Apparently it had been an awful night. Baby had broken down – another thing that never happened – and they'd had to be towed the last several miles to Wisconsin.

"We think it has something to do with the fight with God," said Sam. "Like… we're one of his favorite stories, right? Maybe all the Sams and Deans in all the universes just have… good luck."

"It makes sense," Eileen said, signing with her hands. "I mean, you guys are never sick. The car never breaks down. You never get parking tickets. It's… not natural."

"It wouldn't have made sense for Michael and Lucifer's vessels to die of malaria before the big day came," Ember added.

"Exactly," said Sam as Dean muttered something about "dick angels" in the background. "And now that Chuck doesn't like us anymore, he took away the God luck."

There was silence, before Eileen said again, "Are you sure you should be out on a hunt? You should wait for Cas to get back."

"Garth is a grace-enhanced werewolf," said Dean. "We'll be okay."

"One of us will call every two hours," said Eileen. "Unless you call us first."

"We don't need-…" Dean interjected from the passenger seat.

"That would be good," said Sam.

They were okay, for awhile. Sam called back later, without Dean, to tell them that Garth had a set of twins – one named Sam, after him, and the other named Castiel. "You should've seen Dean's face!" he crowed. "It was hilarious! But you can't tell him I told you."

"Eileen," Ember said, laughing. "You should name your baby Dean. That way there will be one of each of them!"

Sam laughed, but Eileen looked as though she was seriously considering it.

"Wait, seriously?" said Sam. "I mean, I thought about that, but I was sure you wouldn't like it. It's stupid, right?"

"No," signed Eileen. "It would be like naming him after your father. Dean raised you, Sam."

Sam frowned, then shook his head as if to clear it. "Has there been any luck in the research?"

"What do you think, Sam?" said Eileen, rolling her eyes.

-SPN-SPN-SPN-SPN-SPN-

That night, Sam and Dean informed them that they were headed toward a "monster fight club."

"A what?" asked Eileen.

"Fight club," filled in Dean. "For monsters. They all get together and fight for money."

"Why the hell would you go there?" asked Ember. "Just stand outside and use a few Molotov cocktails and a grenade launcher."

"I mean…" Dean looked at Sam as though he was seriously considering it.

"You know we don't work that way," said Sam.

Eileen sighed. "Where's the monster fight club?"

"You're not coming!" Sam said emphatically.

"Don't be stupid!" Eileen said. "I'm pregnant."

"But you're going to need back-up," said Ember. "So I'll come."

Dean and Ember looked at each other, weighing the other's reaction through the tablet they used for conversations that involved Eileen. Both of them nodded. "Might need you," Dean admitted, though it looked like it pained him. "Wear scent blockers."

"Yeah, I know," Ember said.

Dean gave them the address, and they hung up shortly after. Ember turned to Eileen. "You're going, aren't you?"

"Hell yes," she said. "Let's go."

***Ember POV***

January 29th

It turned out to be a good thing they went. They were two hours out from Minnesota when Sam and Dean missed their check-in.

Garth called a few minutes later. "I can't get ahold of Sam and Dean," he said with clear worry.

"Yeah, same," said Ember. "We're on our way to the fight club now."

"I'll meet you there," Garth said.

-SPN-SPN-SPN-SPN-SPN-

Garth, Eileen, and Ember formulated a plan. Garth and Ember would go inside and try to get Sam and Dean out. Ember would be invisible, and Garth would be a werewolf. Eileen, who was both human and pregnant, would stay outside and be ready with a quick escape.

Garth and Ember entered a sea of various monsters. They looked normal overall, except for the djinn, which Ember recognized from their distinctive tattoos. Some of them had fangs out. Still, there was an overall feeling of doom and danger that made Ember shiver and hold tightly to the back of Garth's jacket. The monsters all cheered and booed toward a cage-fight that Ember could barely see. It reminded her eerily of their fight with Chuck a few days before.

Garth set explosive charges near the cage match, and another set toward the back of the building. There, they found Sam and Dean in cages. Sam was trying to pick a lock, which, apparently, was a skill that took far more luck than the two of them had at the moment. Ember sympathized; it had never worked properly for her, though Dean had always made it look easy.

"Garth?" Dean whispered when they walked up.

"I'm here too," Ember whispered, and Dean and Sam both said, "Ember!"

"I tried to call," said Garth. "And when you guys didn't pick up, I figured you were super boned."

"We're super boned," agreed Dean. "Get us out of here!"

Garth's superstrength allowed the door to be easily unlocked, and soon they were breaking free of the sea of sweaty bodies and a light odor of blood.

"Come on!" Dean said, running toward Baby and Eileen. "We gotta – We gotta get somewhere! We gotta regroup! We gotta come up with a plan!"

"Eileen!" Sam yelled. "What the hell are you doing here!"

"Saving your ass!" she said, indignant.

Garth had turned back toward the building.

"Hey, what are you doing?" asked Dean. "We gotta get outta here before the Monster Squad shows up!"

"I've already got a plan," said Garth, holding up the detonator connected to the explosive devices.

"The Monster Squad were the good guys," Garth explained. "We're the Monster Squad."

When the explosion happened, Ember thought that the looks on Sam and Dean's faces were priceless.

"C4 –a Hunter's best friend," said Garth. "Cool, right?"

"Thanks, Garth," said Sam as Dean laughed. Ember became visible again and ran to hug Dean.

"All right. Bring it in," said Garth.

Just as they began to celebrate, a dark figure stepped out of the burning building – a vampire (judging by the teeth), twice the size of Garth. It stomped straight toward them, roaring.

"Go!" shouted Garth. "I've got this." He turned toward the muscley vampire, and they squared off. Garth's werewolf form was terrifying in its own right, all teeth and claws in such a small frame.

"Garth..." said Sam. "Garth!"

But it was no use. "Sam! Give me your keys," said Eileen, and Ember was distracted from Garth and the monster.

Weapons!

Eileen yanked the keys out of Sam's back pocket as he and Dean prepared to back up Garth if needed. But the Impala was still a good ten feet behind the Winchesters, and suddenly Garth was sailing through the air. He fell, unconscious, into the back of a nearby pick-up.

"Hey, did you believe me when I said I thought we could win this thing?" Dean asked as the vampire turned toward the Winchesters and balled his fists.

"Nope," said Sam.

"Yeah, me neither," said Dean.

"Bring it on, Madison!" he yelled at the monster.

Behind them, Eileen had just managed to get the trunk open.

"Hyah!" Dean screamed as he kicked the monster in the groin. It didn't flinch.

In return, it kicked Dean in the groin. Dean fell to the ground, grabbing his groin.

"Ember!" yelled Eileen, and she sent an ax sailing through the air.

The vampire watched as the ax soared through the air, rerouted itself, and soared toward the vampire. By the time the vampire realized the ax was on a collision course with its head, it was too late.

There was silence for a second as the monster's head began to fall to the ground. Ember, disgusted, used her force powers to hurl it into the building, which was still burning.

***Ember POV***

January 30th

Before they parted ways, Garth gave them a lead. "I heard this story once about this place you can go if your luck's gone bad," he said.

"What kind of place?" Dean asked.

"Not sure," Garth replied. "The guy who told me said it was in Alaska, on the road between Barrow and Kotzebue. He said, 'you'll know it when you see it,' whatever that means."

"I think we should wait until Cas gets back," Ember said from the back seat after she, Sam, and Eileen piled in Eileen's Plymouth to make the trek home. (Dean was driving separately in the impala.)

Sam thought a moment as he signed Ember's conversation against Eileen's forearm. Then he admitted, "I think you're probably right."

"You do?" said Eileen and Ember at the same time.

"I can't live like this long term," he said. "But we need the angelic assistance."

"It's not just that," Ember said. "It's still winter. There's no way you'll get all the way through Canada and Alaska unhindered right now in the impala – not with your current luck, anyway. You'll have to fly."

"You're right," said Sam. "But if we fly, we won't be able to take the impala." He sighed. "We need Cas."

-SPN-SPN-SPN-SPN-SPN-

Dean agreed to wait for Cas' return from Heaven, probably because of his hatred of flying more than anything else. So, the next day, the group of them dove into research – Ember, Dean, Sam, Kevin, Jack, and Krissy. There had to be another way to defeat Chuck.

And yet… their search was fruitless.
