Captain Blues: Hello all, the Captain is back. So far, I've updated and fixed chapters 1-8. No major changes, just little fixes here and there so no need to re-read that part.

Re-reading this fic, I'm shocked at the tons of references and crossovers, I mean "Life with Derek?" I didn't even think he knew that show. I'm going to reign all of this in once this arc concludes but from his plans, I know that Derek and Casey will be mainstays, and let's not even get into what will happen with Victoria, Jacob, and Angela.

I have my work cut out for me lol.

But, that's after this arc (Which should end in two-three chapters (not counting this one)). I'll worry about that later. For now, here is the newest chapter! Let's set sail!

The Crimson Eyed Drifter: Distance Between Hearts
Chapter Thirty-Four

Canada – Venturi Residence
Carlisle Cullen

If I were human, I'd vomiting right now.

Two young lives, taken. One, to protect the person he loved and my daughter. And the other, unable to bear the person she loved to suffer alone. Esme would find it romantic and believe me to be a good man for doing what I've done.

But I don't see it that way.

I condemned so many lives to this undead one, and despite the happiness that each of my children has given me throughout my undead life, the guilt I feel from stealing the afterlife from them will always weigh on my conscience.

I swore to myself that I would not be the hand of death, but the weapon for life. It is why I continued my work as a doctor. But now, as I watch these two teens go through unimaginable pain, the guilt and shame fill my hollow form.

"How long does this go on for?" George asked as he held his tearful wife in his arms.

"It can take 1-3 days, depending on the amount of venom," I answered. "I put enough into

"They sound like they're suffering," Nora whimpered.

"It's because they are," I told them. "This next part will be very important. When they awaken, their memories will be dulled due to the pain. For the next few days, you will want and your family to give them every single memory all of you have these two. It will help them remember who they were."

The two nodded before Nora softly asked, "You seem familiar with this process. How many times have you had to do this?"

"Too many times," I softly answered. I stood up from my chair and said, "You will want to start feeding them memories soon. I'll be back shortly."

The humans nodded and with a bow of my head, I left the living room and went into the backyard, passing Jessamine, who was walking inside the house.

No doubt to be with the wolves and the future vampires in Derek and Casey….

I walked to where my children and the other vampires stood and asked Rosalie, "What do we have?" my voice sounding exhausted to my ears.

"Well, it seems a coup is in session," Rosalie answered. "And Jasper was taken to be the leader of it."

"Of course he was. I nearly forgot how his reputation is widespread in this world of ours," I chuckled out before I saw the three new vampires staring at me with wonder.

"I didn't get a chance to comment on this at the beginning, but you look just like our father," the short male vampire said with wonderment. "Even down to the same scent."

"There is a difference to them," the taller vampire male said to the shorter one. "His eyes are golden instead of our crimson."

"And he seems nicer," the woman said with a grin. "Not like our father at all."

"And who is your father?" I questioned.

"Veiss Cullen," The woman answered. "Right-hand man of Deacon Frost."

Knowing of my sire's ability and the comments of these three, I'm pretty sure this Veiss Cullen would be my vampiric doppelgänger. Their scents remind me so much of Alice, Rosalie, and Emmett as well.

"I see, well, I am Carlisle Cullen, the patriarch of my family," I introduced.

"Archie Cullen," The shorter vampire introduced before he pointed at the taller vampire and added, "And this my mate, Royal Cullen. And this is Eleanor Cullen." Archie then pointed to the female.

"Charmed," Royal greeted.

"Nice to meet you!" Eleanor chirped.

"Now that introductions are done, what's the plan then?" Peter questioned.

"We'll have to get in touch with Carine and Earnest. They're our leaders in this. The one thing we need to worry about is Edythe. She's our older sister and she is loyal to our father and Frost, and she is frightfully strong," Royal answered.

From out of the corner of my eye, I saw Charlotte narrow her eyes.

"Anyone else?" I questioned.

"There is Beau. But he's virtually harmless and he's also in the know of our plan," Archie chirped.

"So what is the plan, officially?" Charlotte asked.

"Hm, will Embry, Leah, and Seth be helping us?" Archie asked.

"Of course they will," Peter answered.

"Then we'll need them out here as well," Royal told them. "If this is going to work, we'll need to work fast and make sure everyone is in the know."

"I agree," I stated. "These other members of your coup, we should meet with them as well."

"No can do," Eleanor sighed out. "Carine and Earnest are part of Lord Frost's Cobalt Guardians. His personal guard. They are not allowed to leave the castle under any circumstances. Same with Beau. He's the one who guards all entrances."

"Interesting," I murmured.

That could work in our favor in terms of a plan. But not being able to meet with them is quite the hassle. "Is there any way I can converse with them?"

"I can call them but it will need to wait until feeding time," Royal said.

"Then we'll wait until then to start our planning," Peter said. "Until then, we continue our search for Victoria."

"I will inform Eric and Felicia of this and hopefully, there are enough Nightwalkers to help us," Charlotte announced.

"I will also get in touch with Alice to see if she can give us any guidance," Rosalie spoke out before she turned to me and said, "But Father, we need to talk to Bella. She shouldn't be here in the middle of all of this."

"Bells is as risky as Jazz," Emmett snorted out. "There was no way she was going to hang back in Forks."

"Regardless, look at the last two humans that were involved. They are now being turned," Rosalie stated.

"Victoria has been gunning for Bella since she arrived," Archie informed us. "It's why she teamed up with Lord Frost. She supplies the army he needs and now that she knows Bella is here, the danger has ramped up significantly."

"She'll be unstable with revenge," Royal sighed out as he lit up a cigarette. "Perhaps we can use this to our advantage."

Outrage immediately filled my venom-filled veins. "We are not using my daughter as bait," I hissed out with narrowed eyes.

"Now he looks like Veiss," Eleanor laughed out.

"Not as bait," Royal corrected with raised hands. "But simply knowing her target is close by, it might slow her down in creating the army Lord Frost needs to take over Canada."

"How strong is her army now?" Peter questioned.

"Thanks to Jasper and the Nightstalkers last night, her army of twenty was cut down to ten. Lord Frost at least needs fifty newborns to do start," Eleanor answered.

"Yo pops, shouldn't the Volturi step in and try to stop this?" Emmett suddenly asked as he turned to me. "I mean, they do not allow vampires, other than themselves, to have an army."

"Eric explained it but he's on good terms with Aro," I explained. "Because of that, they wouldn't step in. As long as he doesn't reveal vampires to the world, he could do whatever he wants."

"Favoritism," Rosalie grumbled, causing Emmett to chuckle but I frowned.

"There must be another reason than that," I told Rosalie before looking to the trio. "There must be another reason."

Royal, Archie, and Eleanor exchanged glances before Royal sighed out and said, "There is another reason why they won't make a move. And why Lord Frost wanted the God of War in the first place…."

"Why?" I asked.

"Mele," Royal answered.

"Who?" Emmett asked.

"Mele. She's the second person Lord Frost changed. She has a peculiar ability to absorb and transfer the special abilities of one vampire to another," Royal answered.

My eyes widened. "T-That shouldn't be possible!" I exclaimed.

"We've seen her do it," Archie glumly said. "Our father has an ability. Instant Transmission. It allows him to appear anywhere within a second. But that gift wasn't his. It belonged to Carine. Lord Frost used Mele to have her transfer her gift to him. But it leaves the original holder weak."

Fear raced through me. With that sort of gift, it explained why Aro wouldn't cross him, but now, I understand why my sire would seek out Jasper.

"Wait, is she able to gift abilities to those that already have it?" Peter suddenly asked, coming to the same conclusion that I had.

"Yes," Eleanor gravely replied.

"If Frost can get his hands on Jasper's abilities, he could be strong enough to take over the world, not just Canada," I breathed out.

"How?" Royal asked.

"The Major's abilities is Pathokinesis. He can feel and manipulate emotions," Peter explained. "I've seen him do things with his powers that could make the Volturi terrified."

"Out of everyone in my family, Jasper is the only one Aro is terrified of and refuses to have anything to do with him," I revealed. "I do not know the extent of Aro's fear of Jasper, but I do know that Jasper's abilities make him a bigger threat than many realize."

"How long does it take Mele to do this?" Charlotte asked.

"It takes seconds for her to absorb and transfer the ability, but it takes forty-eight hours for Mele to become strong enough to do it. She had done it earlier this morning to transfer some sort of ability to our father," Royal said. "And when that happens, and Lord Frost succeeds, he won't have any use for Jasper anymore…."

"You don't mean…." Rosalie breathed out.

Royal gave a grave expression.

"Jasper's life will end when it's all said and done," Eleanor announced.

It was then I heard a soft gasp come from within the house on the second floor.

Bella, she overheard everything….

Venturi Residence
Bella Swan

"This is Casey's room. You can stay here for now. It's not like Casey will be here anymore to use it…." Casey's sister, Liz, told me, her voice subdued due to her grief. I tried to crush the guilt I felt in my heart.

This was all my fault….

Her step-brother and sister are being turned into vampires because Derek tried to protect me from Victoria.

"Thank you," I softly murmured.

Liz nodded and walked out of the room, leaving me alone. Her room was vastly different compared to my room back in Forks. Her room had dozens of boy band posters, various pictures of her family and herself as a ballerina.

It looked and felt like a bedroom should, warm.

"Well, it seems a coup is in session. And Jasper was taken to be the leader of it," Rosalie's voice said from outside.

What did she mean by that?

I walked to the window and saw that all of the vampires were out there, sans Jessamine, who I saw enter the house before Liz led me upstairs.

I wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but hearing Rosalie say those words made me far too curious. And so I listened to everything, and with every minute, my worry for Jasper grew until I heard, "Jasper's life will end when it's all said and done," from Eleanor.

I couldn't stop my gasp.

Forty-eight hours….

We have only forty-eight hours to save Jasper from losing his gift and his death.

No, no, no, no, no…..

I can't lose him. Not after being able to see him again.

I have to do something….

Captain Blues: A short chapter but a nice one to let everyone know of the stakes. Now, Mele is a character from Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined who worked for the Volturi and stole Aro's power to give to his wife, Sulpicia.

Rain never clarified why Lord Frost would want Jasper and I figured, what does a man with power want? More Power. And Jasper is very powerful. Bella has now overheard everything and knowing Bella, she's about to do something very reckless...

Now that I have written, this will be updated monthly so until the next chapter!
