The night sky was dotted with uncountable sparkling lights. The air was light, carrying the faint smell of dewy grass. Cicadas chirped their rhythmic song among the trees. Aside from that, the only sound that could be heard was the rustling of soft leaves through the trees.
"Hey, Sayori."
"Yes?"
"…..you'll….always be my friend, right?"
"Of course! Why do you….why are you asking?"
"….it's nothing."
Sayori fixed him with a knowing look. He couldn't do anything but reply.
"…..if….if I did something you….."
"If you did something you couldn't what?"
Nothing could be heard except the quiet breeze of the night. He took a deep breath, steeling his nerves.
"If I did something you couldn't forgive, Sayori….what would you do? If it was something you absolutely shouldn't forgive, no matter what, would you still…..forgive me?"
A/N: Do read on. This isn't quite the beginning of the story. That would be next chapter.
