As much as I love this episode, I keep coming back to how many mistakes all these highly trained people made. From initially taking off the Haz Mat glove to not reporting odd symptoms. This epidemic was mis-handled in so many ways, why not add two more? Although it is hard to imagine Spock not catching McCoy's oversight about transmission methods.

Each of the 2 "New Voyages" books (collections of stories by fans, edited by Marshak & Culbreath) ended with a sonnet, in Spock's voice. The second one, "Soliloquy" spoke of the pain of emotions & his feelings of friendship (or more) for Kirk. This was my effort at Kirk's response. I did send it to the editors, in hopes that they would use it, but there never was a "New Voyages 3".

Saavik comes face to face with Valeris again, this time seeing the betrayal beginning there. But she doesn't know Valeris is twisting Spock's mind against her and himself. A certain Romulan comes to Saavik, she and Sarek reach a peace, but is Amanda right that Valeris will hurt Spock if Saavik gives her one more chance? Between ST V and ST VI; an alternative to my Race of Cain.
