A man in his thirties stepped out onto a dock. "Yo!" he said to the camera. "We're coming to you live from Camp Wawanakwa, somewhere in Muskota, Ontario. I'm your host, Chris McLean. I'm gonna present the best reality show on television right now! Here's the deal: we've gotten sixty, that's right, sixty campers that have signed up to spend time right here at this crummy, old summer camp.. They'll compete in challenges against each other, then have to face the judgement of their fellow campers. Every three days, one team will either win a reward or watch one of their team members walk down the Dock of Shame, take a ride on the Loser Boat, and leave Total Drama Island for good." The camera shifted to a campfire area. "Their fate will be decided here at the dramatic campfire ceremonies, where each week, all but one camper will receive a marshmallow." Chris ate one before continuing. "In the end, only one will be left standing and will be rewarded with cheesy tabloid fame and a portion of wealth, which, let's face it, they'll probably blow in a week. To survive, they'll have to battle black flies-" A swarm of flies was shown. "Grizzly bears-" The camera shifted to a roaring bear. "Disgusting camp food-" It changed to a picture of larvae, which said, "Hey, now."
"And each other," Chris finished once the camera was on him again. "Every moment will be caught on one of the hundreds of cameras situated all over the camp. Who will crumble under the pressure? Find out here, right now on Total...Drama...Island!"
(cue commercial)
Chris was on the docks. "Welcome back to Total Drama Island!"" he announced. "Alright, it's time to meet our first twenty-two campers. We told them they'd all be staying at a five-star resort, with a few exceptions, so if they seem a little T.O.'ed, that's probably why." The first boat arrived. A girl with a green shirt with a lime-green vest, pink pants, glassed covering her dotted eyes, braces, and a brown ponytail put onto the side with a pink scrunchie, dropped her suitcase decorated with orange flowers and ran up to Chris. "Beth!" he announced. "What's up?"
"It's so incredulous to meet you!" she squealed as she hugged Chris. "Wow, you're a lot shorter in real life."
"Uh, yeah." Beth waved to the camera as she walked to the end of the dock. The next boat pulled up. A small boy with a red hoodie, yellow shorts, short brown hair, and black-rimmed glasses covering his black eyes, stepped onto the dock. "A real lake!" he exclaimed with joy. "Trees! Birds! A person other than my mom!"
"You're exited, too?!" Beth asked with excitement.
"I'm Cameron," the boy answered, "And I'm what you'd call a 'bubble boy'. I never talked to anyone that wasn't on a computer."
"Well, we have many more people coming, dude," Chris replied. Another boat arrived. A boy with gray shorts, green flip-flops, a T-shirt with a 'D' on it, and a white hat covering his brown hair grabbed his bags ad walked down the dock. "DJ!" Chris greeted.
"Yo, Chris McLean," he greeted as he gave him a high-five. "How's it going? Hey, are you sure you got the right place here? Where's the hot tub at?"
"Yo, dawg, this is it." DJ grabbed his things and headed to where the others were. "Looked a lot different on the application form," he muttered.
Another boat had arrived. A boy in a green robe, green cap, fake gray beard, sneakers, dark eyes, and a gap in his teeth, grabbed his suitcase with wand decals and a weird staff with three green rocks on top. "Behold!" he announced. "I, the wizard Leonard, have arrived on the island of Wawanakwa!"
"Did you use a spell to teleport here?" Chris asked in a teasing manner.
"Of course not! You cannot use a spell to teleport! It is something you earn!"
"Yeah," Chris replied in an unsure voice. Another person arrived. A girl with a black-and-blue shirt, black hair with teal streaks, dark eyes, a dark-gray skirt, black boots covering dark-gray leggings, and blue lipstick walked up with her suitcases and an unhappy expression. "You mean we're staying here?" she asked.
"No, Gwen," Chris answered, "You're staying here. My crib is an Airstream with A.C. that-a-way."
"I did not sign up for this!"
"Actually," He held up a contract. "You did." Gwen took the papers, ripped it in half, and dumped it in the water as she smirked. "The great thing about lawyers is," Chris told her as he held up more contracts, "is that they make a lot of copies."
"I am not staying here," Gwen told him.
"Cool. Hope you can swim, though. Your ride just left." The boat honked as it sailed away. "Jerk!" she muttered. Another boat came in. A boy with blond hair, an open, pink shirt, a pair of denim shorts, blue flip-flops, and a cowboy hat leaped out onto the dock. A bag was tossed before the boat drove off. "Chris McLean!" he greeted as he grabbed his bag. "'Sup, man? It's a honor to meet you, man."
"The Geoff-ster!" Chris replied. "Welcome to the island, man."
"Thanks, man."
"If they say 'man' one more time, I'm gonna puke," Gwen complained. As Geoff walked towards them, another boat arrived. A boy with a green hoodie, blue sweatpants, yellow-rimmed glasses covering his brown eyes, and messy brown hair was struggling to carry three suitcases and a pink duffel bag. "Greg, is that all yours?" Chris asked.
"No," the boy replied. "A little help?" Suddenly, a girl with a one-sleeved pink dress, red go-go boots, a heart-shaped necklace, spade earrings, her black hair up in a high ponytail, and wielding a black guitar with pink hearts and red lightning bolts, jumped off the boat. "Stage bomb!" she shouted as she crashed onto the dock. "Is she okay?" Cameron asked.
"Destiny always likes to make an entrance," Greg explained. Destiny got back up. "This is so swiller!" she squealed. "A real summer camp! And I got an outfit for every occasion!" She grabbed a suitcase and the pink duffel bag. "Formal wear, swimsuits, snow stuff, pajamas..."
"A bit cheery, are you?" Gwen asked.
"Yeah," Greg replied. "Let's go, Desi." As the duo walked, another boat came up. A boy with an orange baseball cap, teal shorts, an orange hoodie under a gray jacket and gray sneakers walked up with a gray suitcase in hand. "B, everyone!" Chris announced. "What's up?" However, B didn't reply. "You're not a big talker, huh?" B just shrugged as he walked to the end of the dock. "It's okay if you can't talk," Destiny assured him. "If you like, I can play a rift on my guitar."
"At least have a little patience, Desi," Greg told her. "Uh, wait until everyone is settled before you begin."
"Alright. I'll wait. But B is the first to hear."
"Deal." Another boat pulled up. "Everyone, this is Lindsay," Chris announced. A girl with brown cowboy boots, an orange mini-skirt, a red top, blue eyes, and bright blond hair held back with a blue bandana came up. "Not too shabby," Chris commented.
"Hi!" Lindsay greeted as she pulled a pink suitcase over. "Okay, you look so familiar."
"I'm Chris McLean." Lindsay had a confused look. "The host of the show."
"Oh, that's where I know you from!"
"Yeah." As Lindsay walked to the others, another boat came up. A girl with dark skin, black eyes, khaki shorts, a khaki vest over a white shirt, a light-brown fedora covering her black hair that was tied back in a ponytail, and black boots towered over the others. "I'm Jasmine," she told everyone in an Australian accent, "and I'm here to win! Got it?"
"Got it!" Cameron squeaked as she came over. Another boat arrived. A girl with long, black hair, black sandals, a brownish-pink crop top, and gray shorts came up. She removed her sunglasses to show her gray eyes glaring at everybody. "Heather," Chris said as she stomped over to the others. "Hi!" Beth greeted as she ran over to her. "Looks like we're your new friends for a while!" Heather recoiled in disgust. Soon, some rock music caught everyone's attention. A boy with a skull shirt, jeans, a green mohawk, red sneakers, a spiked collar, and facial piercing came up to the dock while holding a patchy duffel bag. "Duncan," Chris greeted.
"I don't like...surprises," Duncan threatened.
"Yeah, I know. Your parole officer warned me about that. He also said to give him a holler any time and have you sent back to juvie."
"Whatever, man." As Duncan walked by, he noticed Heather and Destiny. "Meet you by the campfire, gorgeous."
"Drop dead, you-" Heather began.
"You seem like a punk rock person, am I right?" Destiny interrupted. "I'd say Skillet fan." Another boat arrived. A girl with neon-blue hair held back with a red clip, a black sleeveless dress, black flats over white stockings, blue eyes and a blue choker skipped up. "Hello, there!" she greeted, which Duncan quickly noticed. "Looks like things don't change," he muttered. "Long time, no see, Echo."
"You know her?" Destiny gasped.
"The boy knows how to spin a tale," Echo replied. "Remember last time you told a story, Duncan?"
"I ended up with a cast on my arm and you were sent to juvie after you stole that wallet from the chief of police," Duncan recalled.
"Like I said." She narrowed her eyes at Duncan. Another boat sped towards the dock. "Ladies and gentleman, it's Tyler!" Chris announced. A boy with a red tracksuit, red headband covering his brown hair, and brown eyes was water-skiing towards them. He soon tumbled on the water and crash-landed in the pile of suitcases, one of which was flung into the water and splashed water onto Heather. "My shoes!" she moaned.
"Wicked wipe-out, man!" Chris shouted. Tyler gave a thumbs-up. As Chris laughed, he didn't notice the next contestant. A boy with red hair, a blue shirt with a hamburger on it, green-tinted glasses, green pants, and a keyboard under his arm breathed onto Chris. "Welcome to camp, Harold," he told him. Harold just looked around. "What's he looking at?" Leonard asked Gwen.
"So you mean the show is at a yucky summer camp and not on a big stage or something?" Harold spoke up.
"You got it!" Chris replied.
"Yes! That is so much favorable to my skills!" As Harold walked off, Chris could only shudder. Another boat pulled up. A girl with black hair, a cream-colored tank top with a purple stripe, black leggings, purple sneakers, a purple bead necklace, red feather earrings and dark eyes walked up carrying a purple suitcase in one hand and a brown sack in another. "Contestant number seventeen is Sky!" Chris announced.
"Pleasure to meet you all," Sky replied. She walked over to the others. "I hope we can be friendly competition." Unknown to her, Echo opened Sky's suitcase, making a pile of sunscreen bottles roll out. "Scared of sunburns?" Gwen wondered.
"Uh, you know what they say about too much sunlight."
"But why this much?" Cameron asked Sky. "Two bottles should be enough." Before she could reply, another boat came up. "Lightning has arrived!" someone shouted. A boy with a blue football jersey, short brown hair, gray pants, a lightning-shaped necklace, and brown eyes leapt onto the docks. "I'm here to win! Sha-bam!"
"Jocks," Greg muttered as Lightning walked up. Another boat arrived. A boy with black hair, green eyes, a shirt with a hand print on it, and black jeans was carrying a guitar case and a large backpack. "Trent!" Chris announced.
"Hey, good to meet you, man," Trent replied, "Saw you on that figure-skating show. Nice work."
"Thanks, man. I knew I rocked that show!"
"I saw that!" Beth gasped. "One of the guys dropped his partner on her head! Though they got immunity that week."
"Lucky," Harold commented. "I hope I get dropped on my head."
"Me, too!" Lindsay agreed.
"Me, three!" Destiny chorused as she raised her hand, which Greg lowered.
"So, this is it?" Trent asked. "Allrighty then." As he walked over, he smiled at Gwen, who gave a small smile back. Another camper stomped onto the dock. She had long blond hair that went down to her waist, a white long-sleeved shirt, black leggings, a furry brown vest and boots, and carrying a snowboard with yeti and polar bear decals went up to Chris. "Where snowy retreat?" she asked as she narrowed her dark eyes at him. "Helga is not seeing snowy retreat! Even brought snowboard to ride slopes with."
"Helga," Chris told her, "You're from a little Siberian village where it snows three-quarters of the year! Maybe this'll be a nice change of pace."
"There had better be pechenye yabloki to eat." She dragged her and her board over to the others, making them back away a little. Another camper arrived. A girl with blond hair in a ponytail, a short blue hoodie, denim shorts, brown sandals, and soft green eyes grabbed her teal duffel bag and red-and-orange surfboard. "Hey," she casually greeted. "What's up?"
"Alright," Chris announced, "Our surfer chick, Bridgette, is here."
"Nice board," Duncan scoffed. "This ain't Malibu, honey."
"I'd thought we were going to a beach," Bridgette replied.
"We are!" Chris replied as the scene showed a seagull being swept away by the water. "Great," she muttered as she joined the others.
"That makes-" Bridgette's board hit him on the head. "Ow! Darn it!"
"Hey, guys," Bridgette greeted.
"Hey, I'm Geoff!" Geoff introduced.
"What's up?" As she turned to face him, her board swung around, barely missing the others. "Dang!" Harold told her. "Watch the board!"
"Hi, I'm Sky!" Sky greeted.
"Hey," Bridgette replied as her board swung around again.
"Okay, we've all met Surfer Girl," Heather commented as she rung out her hair. "Can we get on with the show, please?"
"Someone miss their double cappuccino macchiato this morning?" Duncan teased.
"Get bent." Another boat arrived. A girl with short blond hair, gray sweatpants and hoodie, and indigo eyes stepped up while carrying a gray duffel bag. "Our...next contestant is Jo," Chris announced as he was recovering.
"Stay out of my way if you value your kiwis," she threatened.
"Okay," Greg squeaked as he ducked behind Destiny. Another boat arrived. A boy with short ginger hair, a white shirt under blue overalls, a freckled face and dotted eyes brought his blue duffel bag onto the dock. "Pleasure to be here, Chris," he greeted.
"Glad you like it, Rodney," Chris replied. "Go join the others." As Rodney walked, he noticed Helga and got a smitten look on his face. "Looks like you have an admirer," Duncan teased Helga. She bashed him on the head with her snowboard. "Quiet!" she barked.
"Perhaps I," Rodney stuttered, "We with snow...and bash, love! I mean-"
"He wants you to bash him on the head," Greg told Helga. "For some reason." Helga only shrugged and bashed Rodney on the head. "Nice," he moaned. A slight smile crawled onto Helga's face as her expression softened.
The next person arrived. He had neat brown hair, a red-and-blue shirt over a white long-sleeved shirt, dark eyes, moss-green shorts, and a bored expression. "Noah," Chris greeted.
"Did you get my memo about my life-threatening allergies?" he asked.
"Sure someone did."
"Good. Is this where we're staying?"
"No," Duncan replied. "It's your mother's house, and we're throwing a party."
"Cute. Nice piercings, original. Do them yourself?"
"Yeah." Duncan grabbed Noah's lip and a needle. "You want one?"
"No, thanks. Can I have my lip back, please?" Duncan released Noah. "Thanks."
Another boat arrived. A boy with dirty blond hair, beige pants, a gray shirt, a cleft chin, and green eyes walked onto the dock. "Chris McLean!" he exclaimed. "The one and only! I am honored to be in your presence!"
"Nice to hear, Topher," Chris replied.
"Well-"
"I see you admire Chris," a voice spoke up from behind him. A girl with pale skin, light blond hair, a green sweater, purple leggings, black flats and teal eyes waved hello. "I am Dawn. I came here to help the poor flora and fauna on this toxic island."
"'Toxic' might be a stretch," Cameron pointed out as B nodded in agreement. Dawn walked over to them. "Your aura is exceptionally purplish-green," she told a confused B. "Oh, but it suits you, though." B smiled at this. Another boat came by. A girl with a shirt with kumquats on the top, a brown ponytail, blue shorts, brown sandals, beige hoop earrings, and a beauty mark waved to the others. "What's up, y'all? Leshawna in the house!" she hollered, making Harold gasp. She rolled her leopard-skin luggage on the dock. "Yo, baby, how you doing?" she told Chris as she gave him a high-five. "Feel free to quit now. Save yourself the trouble, 'cause I came here to win!" She gave DJ a high-five. "What's up, my brother? Give me some sugar, baby!"
"I've never seen a girl like you in real life before," Harold spoke up.
"Excuse me?"
"You're real big. And loud."
"What did you say to me?! Oh, no, you didn't!" She stomped over to Harold, but DJ and Sky had to hold her back. "You have not seen anything yet. I'll show you big, baby!" As Leshawna struggled, Harold did a few karate poses. "Oh, yeah? You want some of this? Well, come on, then!"
"Alright, everyone. Settle down," Chris told them. As Leshawna fixed her shirt, Harold gave a little smile. Another boat arrived. Two people came off. One was a wide girl with fair skin, a striped shirt, pink shorts, pink raised sandals, and her black hair pulled into two pigtails with pink ties. The other girl was dressed the same, but she was skinnier and had dark skin. "Ladies," he told them, "Sadie, Katie, welcome to your new home!"
"Oh, my gosh, Sadie," Katie gasped. "Sadie, look! It's a summer camp!"
"Okay, I've always wanted to go to summer camp!" Sadie squealed. The girls grabbed their luggage and ran to the others. Another boat came up. A boy with a teal shirt with white sleeves, gray pants, black sneakers styled like Harold's, brown eyes and black hair stepped onto the dock. "Dave!" Chris greeted.
"Uh, this place looks a little...unclean," Dave noticed.
"Yeah, summer camps usually are." Dave sighed as he walked over to the others. Soon, another boat came by. A boy with a moss-green beanie, a white shirt under an orange vest, jeans, dirty blond hair, and black eyes came up. "Shawn!" Chris greeted. "How's it-" He noticed Shawn was inspecting the place and everyone on the docks. "What are you-?"
"Can't talk," Shawn quickly replied. "Gotta make sure there's no zombies after my brain or vampires after my blood!" He turned to Gwen and Sky. "Are you guys vampires?"
"No," Gwen blandly replied.
"No!" Sky quickly exclaimed. "That's a silly thing to think! Heh-heh-heh." Echo tried to open Sky's suitcase again but Dave slapped her hand away. "Spoilsport," she mumbled. Another boat dropped off two girls. They had red cheer-leading outfits, red lipstick, white heeled boots, blond hair, and teal eyes. The only difference was that one of them had a beauty mark. "Hello, Amy and Samey," Chris told them.
"Um, it's Sammy," the girl without the beauty mark stuttered.
"But Amy says everyone calls you 'Samey'. Because you're the second twin. The lesser Amy, if you will."
"But my real name is-"
"You're officially Samey!" Samey sighed as Amy glared at her sister. As they walked, another boat came up. A boy with a teal cap, green hoodie, teal pants, brown hair, and gray eyes came up. "Ezekiel!" Chris continued. "What's up, man?"
"I think I see a bird," Ezekiel replied as he looked up. Jo giggled at this.
"Okay. Look, dude. I know you don't get out much. Been home-schooled your whole life. Raised by freaky prairie people. Just don't say much and try not to get kicked off too early. Okay?"
"Yes, sir."
"That's just...wow," Gwen commented. Another boat arrived. A girl with a pink dress, pink gloves, pink flats, a pink bow in her black hair, a pink choker, fair skin, and black eyes skipped over. "What a wondrous place!" she cried out with joy. "And I see so many nice people! It makes me want to sing!"
"Save the vocals for later, Ella," Chris told her, a little annoyed. However, Ella skipped away, ignoring him. "I hope to make it to the end," she sang, "along with making a lot of friends!"
"Singing?" Jo wondered. "Who do you think you are, Snow White?"
"I hear you, dude!" Lightning agreed, making her eyes roll. Another boat arrived, carrying two people. One was a ginger-haired boy with a white tank top, jeans, freckles and blue eyes. The other was a girl with red hair pulled back in a bun, a yellow sweater, a green skirt, white socks under black flats, and black-rimmed glasses on top of her green eyes. "Scott and Scarlett," Chris said. "I didn't know you were taking the same boat."
"It was not fore-planned," Scarlett told him. "Some girl decided to commandeer it and decided to make myself accompany this individual."
"I'd thought she stole that fancy boat and kicked me off until you dragged me on yours," Scott thought, to Scarlett's annoyance.
"He's missing the chorus to his melody," Greg muttered, making Destiny giggle. Scott and Scarlett looked around. "It seems you lied to us to attract as many people here as possible," Scarlett told Chris.
"You catch on fast," Chris replied.
"It looks better than home," Scott sneered. The duo walked over to the others. Another boat arrived. A boy with brown hair, a gap in his tooth, a beige shirt with a red and green stripe, jeans, and blue eyes came up. "Cody!" Chris greeted. "The Code-ster! The Code-meister!"
"Dude," Cody replied in a slick voice, "Psyched to be here, man. I see the ladies have already arrived." As he walked past Bridgette, Sky and Jo, they got confused looks. Cody was about to say something to Leshawna but she silenced him. "Save it, short stuff," she told him.
Another boat arrived. A girl with blue sneakers, black hair in a ponytail, light-brown eyes, a beauty mark, and dark-blue shorts and a tank top carried her indigo bag over. "Eva," Chris greeted. "Nice. Glad you can make it." She dropped the bag onto Cody's foot. "Ow!" he screamed as he clutched it. "What's in there, dumbbells?"
"Yes," she plainly answered.
"She's all yours, man," Duncan muttered to DJ. Another boat arrived. A boy with dark skin, a yellow tank top, black basketball shorts, white sneakers, black eyes and dark hair walked up while dragging a large suitcase. "Where is she?" he muttered.
"Forgetting something, Sol?" Chris asked him.
"Tell me how you lose track of your sister," Sol replied. Soon, a deafening BOOM caught everyone's attention. "What the-?" A girl with black cornrow hair, a purple dress, purple ballet flats, and dark skin gave a maniacal cry as she swung onto the dock with a vine. "What a blast!" she cried out. "Blowing up that boat was so much FUN! Can we do that again? Maybe we can play Fling Off with a huge catapult or Dentist! That's really fun! Even got a pair of pliers." She pulled out a huge pair of pliers from her dress. "I could yank teeth out and string 'em on a rope and-" Sol quickly put a sock in her mouth. "If you looked up the word 'crazy'," he explained to Chris, "you'd find Luna's picture in the definition."
"I can tell," Dave told him. He turned to Sky. "What could be scarier than that?" Sky gasped a little at the next person. A boy with spiky brown hair, brown skin, a gap in his teeth, a teal T-shirt, blue pants and brown eyes scowled at the others. He walked up to Chris. "Glad you're here, Mike," he told the boy, who only narrowed his eyes. "Something up? It-" Mike grabbed him by the shirt. "I don't like being lied to," he told Chris.
"You're not the first person to complain about this not being a five-star resort," Noah told him.
"Who said anything about some stupid resort?" Mike asked while dropping Chris, to everyone's shock. "Huh?" Jo asked.
"Chris must've used a different tactic to bring Mike here," Cameron explained, "Similar to Helga. Uh, what did the application form say?"
"That I would be at a run-down and abandoned summer camp-" Mike replied.
"That's true," Jo interrupted.
"By myself," Mike finished as he glared at her.
"I'll try not to bother you," Greg squeaked.
"Please," Lightning scoffed as he walked up to Mike. "You're all talk. You can't beat the Lightning! Sha-" Everyone winced as Mike quickly managed to tie Lightning into a human pretzel. "Any other...complaints?" Mike asked once he was finished.
"No," Harold quickly said.
"Uh-uh," Cody agreed.
"You want the top bunk?" Dave offered. Mike just joined the others in silence. As Chris brushed himself off, the next boat came up with two people. One was a girl with blond hair, blue eyes, a gap in her teeth, a pink top, pink shoes similar to Katie and Sadie's, and blue jeans. The other was a boy with a brown flannel shirt, blue jeans, a dusty-brown cowboy hat, brown hair, dark eyes, and brown cowboy boots with blue stars on them. "This seems to be the place," the boy spoke up. "It's a nice change of pace from the ranch back home."
"See?" Chris breathed out, making Helga roll her eyes. "This is Camp Wawanakwa, Austin and Sugar."
"Whoo-whee!" Sugar hollered. "It's great! And I'm gonna win this pageant here!" She strutted off, with Austin in tow. "Hello, there!" Ella greeted, to Sugar's annoyance. "I hope we can be great friends!"
"Can it! I ain't listening to a fake goody-goody like you!" Ella quickly closed her mouth.
"Perfect," Gwen mumbled. Another boat came up, with two girls on it. One had tanned skin, a hot-pink top, light-blue pants, white hoop earrings, and poofy brown hair. The other girl had blond hair, pink pants, a light-pink sleeveless top, and green eyes. "Hi!" the blond-haired girl greeted. "Dakota here! And I-"
"Three more coats otta do it," the tanned girl said as the camera focused on her spraying her hair. Dakota pushed her aside. "Hey!" she told the camera. "Who said you could pan away?"
"Don't touch me, blondie!" the tanned girl told her as she sprayed hairspray at her.
"Easy, Anne-Maria," Chris told her. "Go with the others and leave the hairspray for later."
"Whatever." Anne-Maria joined the others. Soon, another boat arrived. A boy with curly brown hair, a yellow shirt with orange stripes, gray shorts, and black glasses covering his dotted eyes was busy playing a handheld game. "Dude?" Chris asked. His patience was soon worn out. "SAM!" he announced through a megaphone.
"I got it," a voice told him. A girl with a light-blue leotard, a green cape, green boots, a green mask covering her brown eyes, and a long ginger braid carried Sam off the boat and onto the dock. "Here's Sam," the girl told Chris. "I'm Phoebe. Nice to meet you all."
"Huh?" Sam mumbled. "Sorry about the wait. I've finally made it to level twenty-nine on my GameGuy here!"
"If I were you," Chris told him, "I'd try to focus a little less on the video games, dude."
"Yeah," another voice spoke up as another boat came by. She had a pink jacket, purple pants, yellow shoes, brown hair tied back by a red bow, and blue eyes. "Video games were thought up by my great-great-grandfather. Before him, the only way teens could entertain themselves is by playing with sticks."
"Thank you, Staci," an annoyed Chris replied as she walked down the dock. Phoebe dragged Sam and the luggage all three of them had. "Thanks," Sam told her. Another boat came up. A girl with a long purple braid, a yellow crop top, teal pants, green flats, yellow earrings and a yellow locket, and black eyes. "OMG!" she squealed. "Total Drama!"
"Sierra!" Chris greeted.
"Chris McLean! I am your number one fan!"
"No, I am!" Topher told her.
"That may be so, but-" Sierra gasped again. "Oh, my gosh, CODY! I've dreamed of this moment! Only, you weren't wearing a shirt!" Cody backed away slowly. "I guess what they say is true," Duncan commented. "Be careful what you wish for."
The next boat arrived. A boy that had a white shirt with a teal maple leaf on it, green shorts, blond hair, and black eyes came up. "Whoo-hoo!" he cheered. "Chris! What's happening? This is awesome!"
"Owen!" Chris replied. "Welcome!" Owen gave Chris a hug. "Awesome to be here, man!" he replied. "Yeah! This is so, uh..."
"Awesome?" Gwen finished.
"Yes! Awesome! Whoo! Are you gonna be on my team?"
"I sure hope so," Gwen sarcastically replied. Owen let out another cry of joy. "You about finished?" Chris asked. Owen put him down. "Sorry, dude," he told Chris. "I'm just so psyched!"
"Cool. And next up is Brick." A boy with black hair in a buzz cut, a green shirt, black army boots, dark-gray shorts, black eyes, and dog tags around him marched onto the dock. "Brick McArthur reporting for duty!" he saluted to Chris.
"At ease. And here comes Courtney." A girl with olive-green pants, a gray shirt with white sleeves, black eyes, freckles, and brown hair waved as she stepped off the boat. "Thank you," she told Chris as he helped her off. "Hi! You must be the other contestants. It's really nice to meet you all."
"Hi! I'm Owen!" Owen greeted as she shook her hand.
"Nice to meet you, O...wow!" She noticed the next person: a boy with tanned skin, bright blue eyes, black hair, a moss-green shirt, jeans, and brown sandals. "This is Justin," Chris introduced. "Welcome to Total Drama Island."
"Hey, man," Justin replied as he gave him a fist bump, "This is great."
"Just so you know, we picked you based entirely on your looks."
"I can live with that." As he walked down, Katie, Sadie, Eva and Owen gawked at him. "Stare all you want," he told them. "It won't bother me." The next camper came up. He had a big black afro, a gray shirt with suspenders, dark-gray pants, and black eyes. "Beardo, everyone," Chris introduced. "So, anything you wanna say? Anything at all?" Beardo stayed silent.
"Don't worry," Destiny assured him. "Like I told B, sometimes a little song opens people up." Beardo did a little beat-boxing before singing "Song!" in a falsetto voice. Destiny, Harold and Greg stared in surprise, then they started to applaud. "Impressive," Harold admitted. "I hope to challenge you soon or do a duet."
"Me, too!" Destiny squealed. "It would be so swiller!"
"Alright," Chris told them. "Next up, Alejandro!" A boy with a maroon shirt, gray pants, a bull-shaped necklace, black boots, brown hair, and green eyes stepped onto the dock. "Please," he told everyone, "It is my...pleasure and honor to be here."
"Then honor might need some improvements," Noah replied, making Justin smirk.
"I am also blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people." He walked towards the end, but stopped when he noticed Mike glaring at him. "Is something troubling you?"
"Keep. Walking," he growled at Alejandro.
"As you wish." Another boat came up. A boy with purple hair, black eyes, and a gray outfit like Dr. No stepped onto the dock. "Tremble before me, minions!" he announced. "For I, the most evil person on this island, has arrived!"
"Alright, Max," Chris said with a bored expression. Another boat came up. A girl with bright-red hair in pigtails and a flower in it, a sleeveless red top, green pants, a black choker, diamond-shaped earrings, wedges, and brown eyes came up. "This is Zoey, everyone," Chris announced.
"It's so nice to meet you all!" she replied. "I can't wait to meet everyone!" She laid eyes on someone and walked up to him. "You seem so nice!"
"Thank you," Alejandro replied, not seeing her gaze. "I always strive to-"
"And those soft, brown eyes," Zoey continued.
"Que?" Alejandro noticed Zoey was talking to Mike, not him. "This could get ugly," Dave mumbled to Jo.
"I hope so," she replied. "Here comes human pretzel number two."
"What's your name?" Zoey asked Mike. "If that's not too much to ask."
"Mike," he replied, finally managing a smile. The two shared a moment. "Are you two gonna kiss?" Owen asked, interrupting them. One of Mike's shoes was tossed into his mouth. "Zip your lip," Mike warned as he held his other shoe, "Or this other shoe will be aimed much lower." Owen quickly covered his bottom half with his hands as he spit out the shoe.
"Bad boy meets good girl," Trent quietly commented to Gwen. "Sounds a bit, uh..."
"Cliche?" Gwen finished. "Yeah."
The last boat arrived. "Izzy, everyone!" Chris announced. A girl with curly ginger hair, a green skirt and top, and green eyes waved out. "Hi, Chris!" she cried out as she ran up. "Hi!" She tripped on the boat's railing, knocked her head on the dock, and splashed into the water. "Ooh, that was bad," Tyler laughed.
"Guys," Courtney told them as she ran over. "She could be seriously hurt!" She pulled Izzy out of the water and onto the dock. Izzy shook herself off like a dog before speaking. "That felt so...good!" she cried out with enthusiasm. "Except for hitting my chin. This is summer camp? That is so cool! Do you have paper-mache here? Are we having lunch soon?"
"That is a good call!" Owen shouted.
"First things first," Chris told everyone. "We need a group photo for the promos. Everyone on the end of the dock."
"Are you sure?" Scarlett asked. "Based on the net strength of the wood, it's likely that-"
"Live a little," Austin told her. Soon, everyone was at the end of the dock while Chris stood on the boat while holding a camera. "Okay, one...two...three. Oops. Forgot the lens cap. Okay, one..two...wait. Card's full."
"C'mon, man," Leshawna complained, "My face is starting to freeze."
"Do you hear a creaking noise?" Zoey asked Mike.
"Okay," Chris told them. "Everyone say, 'Wawanakwa'."
"Wawanakwa!" they said. Just then, the dock collapsed, getting everyone soaking wet. "Water!" Sky screamed in fear. She clutched Dave's head. "Help!"
"Like I predicted," Scarlett confirmed, glaring at Austin. The only ones not wet were Zoey, Mike and Dawn. "How are you not wet?" Mike asked Dawn, who was holding a starfish.
"I used a shortcut," she mysteriously replied, leaving Zoey and Mike confused.
"Okay, guys," Chris told everyone. "Dry off and meet at the campfire in ten."
(cue commercial)
At the campfire area, everyone was either sitting down or standing by. "This is Camp Wawanakwa," Chris explained. "The campers sitting around you will be your cabin mates, your competition, and maybe even your friends. You dig? The camper who stays on Total Drama Island the longest without getting voted off will win one...million...dollars!"
"Excuse me?" Duncan spoke up. "What will the sleeping arrangements be? Because I'd like to request a bunk under her." He pointed at Heather. "They're not co-ed, are they?" she asked.
"No," Chris told her. "Girls get one side of the cabin and dudes get the other."
"Excuse me, Kyle, can I have the cabin with the lakeside view since I'm the prettiest?" Lindsay asked.
"No, I'm the prettiest!" Sugar countered.
"That's not how it works here," he told the girls. "And it's Chris."
"I have to live with Sadie, or I'll die," Katie said.
"And I'll break out in hives," Sadie agreed. "It's true!"
"This cannot be happening," Gwen muttered.
"Come on, guys!" Owen assured as he grabbed her, Tyler and Dave in a hug. "It'll be fun! It's like a big sleepover!"
"At least you don't have to sleep next to him," Tyler told Gwen. He motioned to Duncan, who was rubbing a deer's head against its will.
"Or him," Dave said. He motioned to Mike, who was breaking rocks with his hands.
"Here's the deal," Chris continued. "I'm gonna split you into two teams. If I call your name out, go stand over there. Gwen, Zoey, Trent, Cameron, Rodney, Heather, Mike, Sierra, Cody, Helga, Lightning, Lindsay, Beth, Amy, Samey, Staci, Katie, Owen, Ella, Jasmine, Leshawna, Scarlett, Sol, Echo, Max, Justin, Topher, Leonard, and Noah. From this moment on, you are officially known as.." He tossed a green banner to Owen. "The Screaming Gophers!" The banner rolled out to show a gopher in a fighting stance. "Yeah!" Owen cried out. "I'm a Gopher!"
"And I'm on the same team as Cody!" Sierra squealed as she hugged Cody.
"Wait!" Katie gasped. "What about Sadie?"
"The rest of you over here," Chris continued. "Geoff, Bridgette, Sky, Dave, Sugar, DJ, Tyler, Austin, Scott, Beardo, Destiny, Greg, Sadie, Dakota, B, Izzy, Anne-Maria, Shawn, Courtney, Dawn, Ezekiel, Sam, Duncan, Jo, Brick, Eva, Alejandro, Luna, Phoebe and Harold. Move, move, move!"
"But Katie's a Gopher!" Sadie cried out. "I have to be a Gopher!"
"Sadie, was it?" Phoebe asked. "Come on. It'll be okay." She took Sadie over. "This is so unfair!" Sadie moaned. "I miss you, Katie!"
"I miss you, two!" Katie sobbed back.
"You guys will be officially known as..." Chris tossed them a red banner. "The Killer Bass!" The banner rolled out to show a fierce bass fish. "It's awesome!" Harold breathed. "It's like...amazing!"
"We're bass!" Destiny exclaimed. "Be-ar-do, could you do a sound of what a killer bass may sound like, please?" Beardo made a fish noise, which Destiny giggled at. "Yeah!"
"Alright, campers," Chris explained, "You and your team will be on camera in all public places during this competition."
Confessional: Chris
He was seated in an outhouse. "You will be able to share your innermost thoughts on tape with video diaries any time you want. Let the audience know what you're really thinking, or just get something off your chest."
Confessional: Gwen (Screaming Gophers)
"Um, okay. So far this stinks."
Confessional: Samey (Screaming Gophers)
"This is so unfair! I auditioned for Total Drama to get away from Amy."
Confessional: Lindsay (Screaming Gophers)
She had her back turned. "I don't get it. Where's the camera guy?"
Confessional: Owen (Screaming Gophers)
"Hey, everyone. Check this out. I have something very important to say." He let out a fart and giggled.
Confessional: Mike (Screaming Gophers)
"Okay, my first confessional. So, Zoey. Real nice. Okay, super nice! I don't usually like sweet things, but with her, I might make an exception. I wonder if she'll go out with a guy like me. See, I have this, um, quirk?" He sighed. "I just hope it doesn't ruin everything for me."
Confessional: Zoey (Screaming Gophers)
"Wow! I can't believe I'm on TV! It's so exciting! Everyone seems so nice. I hope I can make some new friends. Or, friends, period. What if they hate me? Maybe this flower was too much. Am I trying too hard? You like me, right?"
End Confessionals
"All right, any questions?" Chris asked. When no one spoke up, he continued. "Cool. Let's find your cabins." He showed them four cabins. "Gophers, you're in the east cabins. Bass, you're in the west cabins. The door opened on one of them to show rows of bunk beds. "Bunk beds?" Heather scoffed. "Isn't this a little summer camp?"
"That's the idea, genius," Gwen replied as she walked in, bumping Heather with her suitcases.
"Shut it, Weird Goth Girl." Samey was going to put her bag on a bed when Amy walked in. "Called this bed!" she yelled as she knocked her sister over. "Oh. Sorry."
"You're so smart," Cody told Gwen. "I feel that."
"Shouldn't you be on the boys' side?" Gwen asked. Cody gave a meek smile. Soon, Cody was tossed out. Leshawna just shook her head as she walked in.
"Where are the outlets?" Lindsay asked. "I need to plug in my straightening iron."
"There are some in the communal bathrooms just across the way," Chris answered.
"Communal? But I'm not Catholic."
"Not 'communion'. 'Communal'."
"It means we shower together," Scarlett explained. "Idiot." Lindsay began to bawl. "Oh, no! Come on!" she cried out. Owen, Noah, Trent and Topher came out of their side of the cabin. "I'm glad we're in our own cabin with just guys," Owen commented. "You know what I mean?" The others just stared at him. "I mean, no. I didn't mean it like that." The others ducked back inside. "I love chicks! I just don't wanna sleep near them. Ugh, I mean-" Owen ran back inside.
"That guy's a bit weird," Dave told Sky as they walked but stopped when they saw Mike sound asleep on a tree branch and holding his blue duffel bag. "Seriously?" Dave asked. "Is he-? Really?"
"At least he's not on our team," Sky told him. As he walked away, Sky took a closer look at Mike. "But there's something else," she muttered. "What is it?"
"Excuse me, Chris?" Geoff asked. "Is there a chaperone of any kind in this facility?"
"You're all sixteen years old," Chris answered. "As old as a counselor-in-training in a regular summer camp. So, other than myself, you'll be unsupervised. You got a half an hour to unpack and meet me back at the main lodge, starting now!"
"Nice!" A scream cut through the peace. Leshawna, Heather, Gwen, Amy, Samey, DJ, Harold, Dawn, Tyler, Dave, Sky and Duncan went towards the cabin. "Man, that white girl can scream," Leshawna muttered.
"What is it?!" Lindsay screamed as she cowered from a roach. "Kill it! Kill it!" As it scurried towards the others, DJ gasped and leapt onto a bed, crushing it. "That was my bed," Gwen said. Harold tried to stomp it while Amy, Heather and Dave climbed onto the top bed. Leshawna, Samey, and Sky tried to stomp it, but to no avail. It scurried over to an ax-wielding Duncan. "Help me," the roach squeaked as Duncan prepared to kill it. Dawn scooped it up just as Duncan swung his ax. "Are you okay, little one?" she asked it. "I know you didn't mean to scare anyone."
"You're talking to a roach?" Dave asked. "Now I've seen everything."
"If you see one of those again," Tyler told Lindsay, "Just let me know, okay? 'Cause, you know, I can do that, too." Lindsay smiled at this. "They always go for the jocks," Duncan scoffed.
"What's going on?" Mike asked as he walked in. "All this racket woke me from my nap!" He noticed the cockroach Dawn was holding. "All that fuss over a cockroach?! Come on! That is just...bad."
"He didn't mean to scare everyone," Dawn explained.
"Uh-huh. I'm leaving this loony express." Mike walked off, with Dawn following him. "Give these people a chance," she told him. "I know you're not the most social person, but I know under that tough exterior lies a heart." She walked off, leaving Mike a little confused.
At the main lodge, everyone was lined up. "Listen up!" Chef Hatchet explained. "I serve it three times a day, and you'll eat it three times a day. Grab your tray, get your food, and sit your butts down now!"
"Excuse me," Beth began, "but will we be getting all the major food groups?" She and Harold held up their trays as Chef scooped a red blob onto a bun. "Yeah," Harold began, making Chef glare. "'Cause I get hypoglycemic real bad if I don't get enough sugar."
"You'll get a lot of SHUT UP!" Chef yelled.
"Have a cow," Owen muttered to Noah.
"What was that?" Chef asked him. "Come closer, big guy. I didn't hear you!"
"Oh, I didn't really say anything important."
"I'm sure you didn't." He stopped Noah as he grabbed his tray. "You! Scrawny kid. Give me your plate." He scooped some extra red stuff, but it latched back on the spoon. Chef scooped it again, and it stuck to the tray. Noah walked away. "I know why gruel rhymes with cruel," Sam muttered. "No offense, Chef." Chef scooped some red stuff for Phoebe. "Thank you, Chef!" she saluted as she walked off with her tray. Leshawna tried to talk to Eva. "What's up, girl?" she asked her. Eva just stayed silent. "Oh, it's gonna be like that, is it?"
"NEXT!" Chef shouted.
"Hurry up so I can get some grub!" Sugar shouted. Unknown to everyone, Mike had slipped away.
"Excuse me," Lindsay told Chef, "My nutritionist says I shouldn't eat any white sugar, white flour, or, like, dairy." Chef crushed a fly with his hand. "I don't think that's gonna be a problem," Gwen told her as she saw the food on her tray move.
"Cool." Lindsay walked off with her tray.
"Okay, I'd hate to be predictable and complain on the first day, but I think mine just moved." Chef slammed the food with his mallet. "Okay, then," Gwen told him as she took her tray. Sky saw this and shivered. She and Chef noticed Mike coming back with a fish in his hand. "You've been in my kitchen, boy?" Chef asked with anger.
"So?" Mike asked back.
"That is-" Sky began but one whiff of that fish made her faint. "Guess she wasn't hungry," Mike told a confused Chef. Chef went wide-eyed as Mike took a bite off the fish. "Later," Mike mumbled. Soon, everyone was seated at one of the two tables. Mike and Sugar were the only ones eating. "Welcome to the main lodge," Chris said as he walked in.
"Yo, my man," Geoff spoke up. "Could we order a pizza?" A cleaver went flying and landed on the wall. "Whoa! It's cool, G! Brown slop is cool, right guys?" Chef glared at them while holding a knife. Most of the teens ducked away or nodded in agreement.
"Why does that freak gets to enjoy fish?" Max demanded as he pointed to Mike. "I demand you hand it over to me, posthaste!"
"Don't!" Sky warned. "It's-" She gagged. "Raw." She passed out again.
"Uh, you can keep it," Max meekly told a glaring Mike. "I'm not even that hungry."
"Gross!" Heather, Amy, Lindsay and Beth chorused.
"What?" Mike wondered. "Sushi's raw fish, isn't it?" He noticed Zoey giggling at this. "It's funny because it's true," she explained.
"Your first challenge begins," Chris told them, "in one hour!"
"What do you think they'll make us do?" Destiny asked.
"It's only the first challenge," Scott sneered. "How hard can it be?" Soon, everyone was at the top of a huge cliff. "Crud," Austin cursed.
To be continued...
Hi! Dunsparce519 with a bit of an experiment in the works. This is a story with all fifty-one players, and my nine OCs, competing on Total Drama together! I got their descriptions to the best of my ability, so if I made an error, sorry.
So, some characters will change a bit. (If you read my first story, you might know what changes to expect.) But I'll try to keep shipping the same, with only some minor tweaks. (Cough, Courtney and Duncan, cough, Sky and Dave, cough.)
As always, don't be shy to leave a review and a pick on who might get the boot first. Until then. this is Dunsparce519 saying enjoy and have a good day!
