The alarm blared. Lisa Turpin groaned. She pulled herself out of her bed. God, she hated having to get up early. She walked over to her bathroom mirror. She brushed her teeth. She styled her dark locks into a half up ponytail. She pulled a few strands from her ponytail. She grabbed her new uniform. It was a sweater with her new school's logo over the right side of her chest, a pleated skirt and her school's tie. She threw on her uniform and returned to the bathroom to do her makeup. She did a smokey eye, she put on dark red lipstick and then a little bit of blush. She checked her school bag. It had all of her notebooks, along with her text books. She threw her bag over her shoulder and walked down the stairs of her family's home. Her younger brothers were already away at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and Wizardry. Her father was reading a newspaper and her mother was making breakfast.

"Hello sweetheart, ready for your first day?" Her mother asked her

"As ready as I'll ever be." She said, dropping her bag down at her feet.

"It's not too late to go back to Hogwarts," her father told her

"No, I'm not going back dad. I've made up my mind, I'm going to Crestview for the year and then Oxford" she said

"We understand why you don't want to go back, but do you really want to cut magic out of your life?" Her father said

"Do you really understand Dad? Where were you on May 2nd? Oh right, here with mom listening to the radio. Where was I?"

"At the battle" her mother mumbled

"Exactly"

"We understand that but you can still go, magic is a part of you"

"I'm not having this conversation right now. If you excuse me, I have to go to school, earn Valedictorian, class president and get into Oxford. I can't be late on my first day, so I'm going to leave" She grabbed a to-go cup of coffee, her keys and walked to her car. She sat in it and switched through the radio stations. She flipped through Rap, R&B and then, Wannabe. She turned the radio off quickly. She could listen to that now, maybe not ever.

She drove on. She pulled into her new school's parking lot. The other seniors were busy greeting each other. She got out of the car with her head held high. The other students stared as she walked. She was the new girl senior year after all. She didn't stare back. That would only bring more attention to her. She needed to find the office and get her scheduled. Shoot, she had no idea where the office was. She would need to talk to one of them if she wanted to get to the office on time. If there were two things that she hated, it was being late and asking for help. She could do most things by herself and lately, she found it much more enjoyable. She thought for a minute and then turned to the first person she saw, a boy with a soccer ball in one hand.

"Hey, where is the office?" She asked

"Don't worry sweetheart I got you. it's down here" He pointed to his pants. A couple of the guys high fives him and laughed at his moronic joke. Lisa hated guys like that. She licked her lips

"Let me make myself clear because I clearly failed before. Use your one brain cell to figure out where one room is in. Now I know that thinking that this will be hard for you so take your time"

"Hey, what's your problem?" He asked

"Well. I'm a future CEO, talking to a future bus driver making me late on my first day so unless you can tell me where the office is, I really need to be on my way" She said

"It's first door on the right" Hemumbled

"Thanks." The other students watched this interaction with interest. She didn't care, of course she didn't. She had places to be. She found the office and sat waiting for the receptionist. She checked her reflection in her mirror. It was perfect. She closed it when another girl sat down. She had straight blonde hair, a perfect complexion and jewelry to match. She had a cup of ice coffee in one hand.

"One second Miss Turpin, I just need to print your schedule." The receptionist said. She checked her watch

"Great, I'm going to be late on my first day" she mumbled. The blonde girl looked at her

"You're the new girl aren't you?"

"Yeah"

"I'm Kathryn, nice to meet you "

"Lisa"

"I heard about what happened with Chad, I'm impressed. Based on what I heard, he totally deserved it"

"Thanks. He was being an arse, someone put him in his place" Lisa said with a smile.

"Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to sit with me and my friends at lunch?" Lisa thought about it for a moment,

"I would, but I really need to study for my Uni entrance exam"

"When are you taking it?"

"Two weeks"

"Oh, yeah, I get it. Where are you taking it?"

"Oxford" Lisa admitted

"Geez, good luck"

"Thanks"

"Miss Turpin, your schedule" the receptionist said. She read it over. Advanced European history, Advanced Calculus two, Advanced Literature, Advanced Chemistry, Advanced Latin 5, Gym and public speaking. Perfect. She took out a folder from her backpack and put her schedule in it.

"Bye" she waved to Kathryn. She didn't particularly care about making friends but it didn't hurt to have one or two. Her first class was History. She found the room. She was thankfully not late. She took a seat at the front of the class. Two other girls were sitting next to each other, whispering. One of them pointed at Lisa and continued to whisper. Lisa rolled her eyes. Hadn't their parents taught them it was rude to point?" The black haired one spoke

"Aren't you the new girl?" She asked..

"Yes I am"

"We saw how you took down Chad today. It was wicked" she said

"Thanks"

"I'm Maya MorĂ and that's Bianca"

"Hi," Bianca waved. She had bright blonde hair. She came off as a little bit ditzy but Lisa could guess that she was extremely intelligent. They both reminded her of Mandy and Padma.

"Lisa"

"Nice to meet you Lisa," Maya said. The teacher walked into class. "We can talk more later, meet us for lunch?"

"I have to study for my Uni entrance exam" she said

"You can still come sit with us"

"Maybe another day" Lisa smiled. She sat through the first day's lecture. Her teacher gave them their course description and reading list at the end of class. She shoved them both into her history folder. She sat through the rest of the non-engaging lectures until lunch finally rolled around. After her last morning class, she made her way to the library, she bumped into Maya and Bianca.

"Hi Lisa, ready to go to lunch?" Bianca asked

"I told you guys, I really need to study" she said

"Nonsense, it can wait," Maya said. Maya and Bianca linked arms with her. They began to lead her forward. Her heart raced slightly. She fought the urge to push them both away. She didn't like people touching her and she certainly didn't like people forcing her to go places. They practically dragged her to the lunch room. She forced a smile. They let go when they got to a table. She sighed and took one of the open seats.

"Did you hear? The new girl sassed Chad in the parking lot this morning." One of them said as she sat down.

"I have a name you know" she said

"Oh you're the new girl" one of the others exclaimed. "Is it true that you sassed him?"

"He deserved it" Lisa laughed

"Guys, Queen Bee is staring at us and she looks pissed," one of them said. Lisa turned to see Kathryn glaring at her

"Queen Bee?" Lisa asked

"She likes, rule the school. She can destroy or make your high school experience in like 3 words" another said

"She invited me to sit with her" Lisa said

"And you didn't?!" The first girl said, shocked

"I was supposed to be studying for my Oxford entrance exam" She glared at Myra and Bianca. Bianca and Maya locked eyes as if to say maybe inviting her was a bad idea.

"So, Lisa, what school did you go to before you came here?" Maya asked

"Highland College"

"I've never heard of that"

"What's it like?"

"I don't want to talk about it"

"Ok then" Maya said. The other girls had lost interest in Lisa and were facing the door. Lisa, annoyed, turned to see what they were so preoccupied with. A boy was standing in the doorway. He had a backpack slung over her shoulder. He had circular glasses, jet black hair and bright emerald green eyes

"Who's that?" She heard someone ask

It took her less than a moment to recognize him. Hogwarts's champion, Gryffindor's captain, the order's youngest member, the chosen one, the boy who lived himself.
