Lisa Turpin jumped at the noise. She spun around to see an all too familiar face. Mr. Whiteford was standing in the basement's doorway. Behind her, Reagan had gone as pale as a sheet. Noah quickly tried to put himself between Lisa and Mr. Whitford. Lisa moved herself to be back between them. Noah looked at her curiously.
"You?" Lisa asked
"Yes, me," he said. He smiled at her "Lisa Turpin. Ravenclaw, blood traitor, correct? You fought against the dark lord at the battle, didn't you? You always took second place to the mudblood. Or, that was what Theodore told me," Lisa's eyes narrowed.
"Blood traitor?" Kathryn asked her.
"Lisa, what's he talking about?" Noah asked. She ignored them
"So, I'll take it that you're Nott then?" She asked
"Clever girl," he said
"Lisa, what is going on?" Noah asked her. He gripped her arm. She looked at him. His eyes were wide with fear. She swallowed her own fear and turned back to Nott.
"Would you prefer to tell them, or would you rather I?" He asked her. She did not answer. "I suppose I can, but first, I have some other business to attend to." He reached for his wand. Lisa looked frantically around the room. She saw Ginny's wand sitting on the table. She lunged for it, before Nott could realize what she was doing. He laughed when he saw it.
"You don't even have your own?" He laughed. She pointed the wand at him.
Stupefy she called. He easily blocked her spell. He wordlessly sent another, bright red spell back. Lisa struggled to block it. She could vaguely hear who she could guess was Kathryn screaming. The blood was thumping in her ear. She felt beads of sweat on her hands. It made it difficult to hold on to Ginny's wand. Her entire stomach seemed to constrict. He sent another curse at her. This one was purple. It almost hit her in the shoulder. Her chest throbbed. She gritted her teeth as she sent another spell flying at him. She missed. He was moving closer. She bit her lip and sent another charm flying at him. She felt as though something was stuck in her throat. She did not even notice the tears streaming down her face.
"Lisa!" Noah yelled. Nott hit her. Clear in the chest. She tried not to scream, but the pain was too much. She couldn't hear anything over herself. She forced her head to turn. Nott was pointing his wand at her. She was laughing. The bitch was laughing. She suddenly wanted to wrap her arms around Carrow's throat-
Noah McMichaels collided with him. Lisa shook her head as her vision cleared. Nott was on the ground, but had already kicked Noah off. Her whole body shook as she tried to push herself up. She looked up to see that Nott had gotten his hand on his wand again.
Incarcera Nott called. Lisa watched the cords wrap around Noah. She searched desperately for Ginny's wand. There! She reached for it. She felt the thick cords tie around herself. She looked up to see Nott smiling at her. He sent two more charms behind her. Before she knew it, they were all tied up on the ground
Harry Potter had locked himself in his bedroom at number 12 Grimmauld place. He hadn't spoken to anyone, besides Kreacher, since Grey confronted him. He could hear Neville and Ron talking about him through the door. Neither of them had tried to enter. He had several Quidditch books scattered around the floor. He needed to find something other than being an Auror. At least if he joined the Quidditch League, people might believe that he deserved to be there. He had gathered up his Auror textbooks, his training sheets and even his muggle criminology books and shoved them into a box. He would need to take that out eventually. But bringing it out would mean that Neville and Ron would see it. How was he supposed to tell them that he had quit. Would they forgive him for abandoning them? Would they want to leave with him? He heard a small knock at the door. He ignored it. He heard it again, but this time it was much louder. He begrudgingly opened the door. He saw Neville Longbottom standing there, with an envelope in his hand
"What do you want, Neville?" Harry asked begrudgingly. Neville sighed
"This just arrived for you," Neville said. He handed the envelope to Harry. Harry turned it over.
"It's from Hermione?" He asked reading the neat handwriting
"Yeah, it came with one of the school owls." Neville said. Harry ripped open the envelope. As he read it, his hands began to shake. A chill went down his spin"
"Are you ok, Harry?" Neville asked. Harry took off in a run. He dropped the letter behind him.
Lisa Turpin began to struggle with her restraints. She tried to force them off but it made no difference. Nott had left them there, alone, tied up. Lisa wondered if he was even going to come back. He would have too. He couldn't just leave them here, where anyone could find them, could he? He already took Ginny. Maybe he didn't need them. He would probably execute whatever his plan was and then flee. That is, if he got away. Lisa tried to steady herself. It was already Sunday. The school will be filled tomorrow. Someone was bound to come to the basement. She heard Noah struggle with the ropes binding him
"That's not going to work," Reagan said. She hadn't even tried to escape her bonds. She had been uncharastically quiet. Lisa couldn't help but wonder what she had been doing down here to begin with. Why would she just stumble through the basement and happen to find Ginny.
"You don't know that" Noah said
"Yes I do," Reagan said
"Yeah? How do you know that exactly?" Noah asked. Reagan sighed
"That guy, there's something not human about him. I don't think the ropes can just be broken" Reagan said
"What? Are you saying he can do magic or something else ridiculous?" Noah asked
"Look, maybe?"
"Why don't you ask Lisa? He seemed to know her" Kathryn said venomously. Lisa bit her lip. She should have guessed that they would turn to her eventually.
"Lise? How did he know who you are?" Noah asked. She sighed
"I guess I should start from the beginning, shouldn't I? I haven't been telling any of you the truth and neither has Harry" she said. Noah looked confused. Kathryn rolled her eyes in disbelief. Reagan was hard to read "We did go to the same school, but we both lied about where. We didn't go to Highland College. We went to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry"
"Witchcraft? Wizardry? What is this bullshit?" Kathryn asked
"Magic is what it is. You all saw me fight Nott. That was magic, well, a mix of defensive charms and curses more specifically."
"C'mon Lise, what's really going on?" Noah asked her
"That is what's really going on. You saw when he hit me with that red light. That was a curse, well, it's an illegal torture curse. It makes it feel like every inch of you is being pierced with a knife. You heard me scream. I saw the look on your face. You knew that was real." Noah shook his head. She looked at him. He knew she was telling the truth, but he was refusing to accept it.
"But what about everything else he said? What about the girl, Ginny?" Reagan asked. Lisa chose to avoid her first question
"She's Harry's girlfriend." Kathryn let out a small noise of surprise. If anything could make Lisa smile right now, it would have been the look on Kathryn's face.
"But-" Kathryn said
"He wasn't really interested in you. Harry is a trainee auror, wizard cop essentially. He had a mission to blend in and figure out who Nott was pretending to be."
"What about that thing he called you, a blood traitor?" Noah asked. That was something she was hoping to avoid
"In that world, you are either pure blood, half blood or muggle born. Pure bloods have only magical lineage, like me. Half bloods have a mix of magical and non-magical, muggle, lineage, like Harry. Muggle-borns only have muggle lineage. There is a group of pure bloods who believe that muggles and Muggle-Borns are less than or second class. They call pure bloods who disagree blood traitors."
"What about the dark lord?" Reagan asked
"Long story short. You know who was a really powerful dark wizard. He killed a lot of people. He had a lot of followers. Nott was one of them. He really hated Harry in particular. Harry survived one of his attacks, so You Know Who made Harry his personal arch enemy. Harry was the one who did him in. That's why Nott went after Ginny, to get back at Harry."
"This is all insane" Noah said
"Tell me about it" Lisa said
"We need to get the fuck out of here" Reagan said. Lisa noticed something at Kathryn's side.
"We've already been over this-" Noah began.
"Kathryn, give me the stick." Lisa said forcefully. Kathryn turned to face it. She reached for it "don't touch it, kick it to me." Kathryn did. Lisa caught it. A second later her bonds were gone. She was free. She quickly undid the others. They raced up the basement stairs and into one of the halls. Lisa didn't stop until she realized she ran into someone. Harry. He had his wand already out. He saw Ginny's wand in her hand. Shit. His green eyes narrowed.
"Harry I can explain-" she said. He raised her wand to her.
"Where is she?" he said through gritted teeth. He now had his wand pointed at her chest. The others stepped back. She fought the urge to do the same.
"Nott has her Harry, I'm-"
"Let me guess, you handed her over to him." He said venomously
"That's not how I got her wand-"
"You went after her on your own-"
"Of course not, you idiotic toe rag" Lisa snapped "I went to go rescue her from Nott. Reagan found her in the basement. I needed a wand to break the bonds that Nott had as trapped in" She said,
"Why didn't you have your own?" He asked
"I don't carry it anymore." She said coldly
"Are you really that stupid? Don't give me your whole spiel about how much you hate magic. You could always need it. We were literally hunting a death eater and you couldn't even think that it might be necessary?" Lisa took a step forwards, about to raise Ginny's wand to him. Reagan stepped between them.
"Look, we know that whatever is going on is going to happen at the pep rally" She said
"We do?" Noah asked
"Yes, we do. She's probably there" Reagan said
"Well, looks like we're going to the pep rally."
