Chapter XII: Premature Obituaries

"You really think you can fend off this Quellor guy," I asked Tweeg as he said desperate times call for desperate measures. "Speaking of which, if this fails and I die that's it for your plans." Tweeg laughs saying my plan won't work. Even If I were to die, he could easily dissect me to get my power.
Another image flashed in my head. I saw a girl with white hair and green eyes. She was strapped to a table struggling in her bonds. 'Help me!' she cried as I walked up to the table only to be hit by blue creep again. He tells me the only way to save is to renounce my father...father.
"LB is it ready," Tweeg's voice asked as I snapped back to the present. He and his goon were hooking me up to the machine. LB said that maybe they should test it first but Tweeg says they don't have time. Time...why is it familiar? "LB go see how far Quellor is from here?" he orders the creature who rolls his eyes and leaves the room.
He makes the final adjustments to the device. "Soon, I will be all powerful," he attaches some wires to my body. "Grnudo should be mine!" he cackles as I swallow hard.
Sludge
"You said they would never escape the quicksand?" I tell the blue bounder as see the Illiop and his friends make their way down the road. The bounder looks and says we have nothing to worry about. "What do you mean, they...," the amulet around my neck glowed. "Q...Quellor! What is thy bidding oh Supreme Oppressor." I said fumbling the jewel in my hands.
"Have you reached Tweeg's castle?" the Supreme Oppressor asked as I said were almost there. "I want the boy unharmed so I may break him myself." I tell him that not a hair will be harmed on him. "Excellent and what of the Illiop and his band do-gooders?" I pale at those words. I tell them they drown in the quicksand. "Excellent not only will I have the boy but the crystals as well."
"Uh shouldn't you tell him about what...," I shut the bounder up before he can squeal to the boss. "You know he's going to find out about them escaping?" he says as I release and tell him what Quellor doesn't know won't hurt him. "You know he's going to find out." I tell him that by time he does those fools won't be breathing anymore. "If you say so."
"Go get the gold," I order him as he asks why, "We're going to replace with this," I said taking out some fool's gold from my pocket. "When the wood elves come for the offering they will think those do-gooders tricked them and will go after them." The bounder laughs as he goes to set our trap for them.
Frostbite
"General Cryos, what is the situation," I asked my top solider as I viewed Walker's battalions through the spy glass. Cryos said they seem to be at rest for the moment. "We can use this opportunity to take them by surprise," I tell him as he salutes me as I make may way to the infirmary.
"Halt! Who goes there?!" the Great One's friend said fumbling with an orb in his hands. He asks me how the battle with Walker going. I tell him as good as it can be and inquire about Danny's condition. "He still doing that reflex thing. Sam thinks she can coax him back to the world." I warn him to be careful, Danny is in a delicate situation.
Inside the room Sam was sitting next to the stasis pod. She stroked the ghost boy's hand through the glove box. "Come on Danny wake up. We're all waiting!," I tell her it will more than that to rouse him. "When we will wake up. All the readouts say everything is stable. No swelling of the brain, no crushed lungs." I tell her while his body has healed his mind is still fractured. "If I ever see that bastard again I will make him pay for this!" That will solve nothing.
Jazz places a hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her. She asks how can I be so calm about this. "On the outside I am calm and patient. Inside I am raging storm. Vlad has committed sacrilege by laying hands on the youth. I want to rip him in two. That won't wake the Great One up or right any...," Danny clenches his fist and his eyes dart around.
"My lord," the voice of Iceheart said as he stood in the doorway. "Walker has sent his heavy troops into battle. I seek permission to use the Stasis Cannon." The two humans looked at me. I asked him if it has really come to this. "Yes," I nod as he salutes and races back to the battlefield.
Newton Gimmick
"Something isn't right," I said looking at the compass. Teddy asks me what's wrong. "We should be heading south but the compass is pointing north." He asks if there are any iron deposits nearby. He remembers me telling him that deposits of iron can mess up compasses. "I don't think so," I take out the map and look for clues. "Maybe we...," I see something dart among the trees. "Great gears!" I remove my glasses and wipe them off.
"What type of animal was that," Grubby asks trying to get a closer look when he trips on something. Leota starts to fly around frantically. "What's...," tiny ropes wrap around and tie the octopede to the ground. "What gives?!" he asks trying to break free.
"Hang on Grubby, I have something that..." the branches of a nearby tree bend down and pluck me from the ground. I try to break free but the tree's hold on me gets tighter. "Ulmus la..evis doesn't...normally...,"
Teddy looks around trying to figure out how to help us. "It's no...," Leota beings to say when she is caught in a net.
A group of elves wearing green and brown come out of hiding. "You thought you could trick us?!" an elf dressed in tree bark asks pointing a spear at Teddy. Leota asks what he means bu that. The elf shows us the gold we left. He takes his spear and peels off the top layer revealing lead.
"That wasn't us, what I left you is pure elemental gold," I try to explain but they won't listen. They tie us up and lead us into the woods. "Where are you taking us?" I demand to know. The elf in bark armor says we are going to see the grand elf to decide our fate.
Vlad
"Dona eis requiem, Little Badger," I said looking at my pocket watch. "I really did hate to kill you boy. You had so much potential, but you chose your idiot father and now you are dead." I pour myself a glass of wine. "You will be miss...," something was wrong. I bring up the ecto-radar and see the boy's signal in the Far Frozen. "Can't that bag of bolts do anything right."
I call up the feed on the Far Frozen. Walker's troops are attacking them. Why would he do that? "Unless to claim the boy for himself." I give a whistle as my ghost vultures appear. "What in the name of Curly Lambeau is going on?" I ask them as they look at me. "I thought you were making sure Danielle doesn't escape the Empire of the Night?!"
"We have the hunter on that and don't worry about the boy. Johnny law is taking care of him," Æsc says looking from behind his glasses. "No need to thank us Shef." I grab the bird by the neck and throw him to the ground. "I thought you would be happy, the boy is going to rot in jail and the girl is imprisoned in the Empire."
"Go back there and call off Walker's forces. I won't have him interfere in my plans." The birds look at each other. "If you needed to back up you should have contacted me. Not go tattle to Walker, Daniel could easily link everything to me." I charge up and ectoblast. "I am giving to the count of three – Eyns...Tsvey....," they head for the portal.
LB
"I thought I had some more wire in here," Tweek said looking around. "LB go and find me more wire and quality wire. It needs to be pure copper for it work." he says as I walk to the supply closet.
Once I was a far enough away, I call my buddies using the watch. "Guys did you take care of the Illiop?" I ask but no answer. "Come on guys!" I say as the blue bounder's face appears on the watch face. "Finally, I was afraid something had happened. Did you get rid of those do-gooders?" He says at the moment they are suffocating in the mud. "Did you make it Quellor?"
"I did we are on our way now," he says as I tell him to hurry up. Tweed is busy hooking up his power draining machine. "Do you think you can distract him?" he asks as I hear Tweeze yelling for me. I tell him I will do my best.
"I'm coming Twix," I said race into the closet and see the wire. There are two spools of it. One is marked '100% pure copper' and the other says '50% pure copper.' I take the poor quality wire and make my way back to the dungeon. "I got your wire Tweex!"
