Teaching Elflings was hard. Teaching Legolas was near impossible. Getting the Elfling to actually sit still was a miracle in and of itself. Thus, Thranduil was quite relieved when the Elfling plopped himself down on the floor with a handful of arrows. Luckily their points were all dull and blunted.
"Ada, Moro onen in philinn." ~{["Father, Moro gave me his arrows.]}~
Smiling, the Elvenking moved to sit upon the rug beside his son. " I onen. Sir golthannath, tithen pen, natha nediol ti." ~{[Indeed he did. Today's lesson, little one, is to count them.]}~
The Elfling scrunched up his face. "Algothannath..." ~{["No lesson...]}~
"I golthannath, egor le annathon philinn. ~{[Yes lesson, or you shall have to return the arrows.]}~
Legolas clutched the tan shafts close to his chest, "Nin." he retorted, turning away from his father. ~{[Mine]}~
"San nediol ti, ion nin." the king spoke, placing his hands in his lap. ~{[Then count them, my son.]}~
Casting his father with a blatant look of suspicion, the Elfling took one and dropped it on the rug. "Min." ~{[One.]}~
He took hold of another and dropped it. "Tad." ~{[Two.]}~
And yet one more. "Nel." ~{[Three.]}~
Holding another, Legolas hesitated. "Umm... ada, mana ab nel?" ~{[Umm... ada, what is after three?"]}~
Thranduil held up four fingers, "Canad." ~{[Four.]}~
Smiling like he knew the answer the whole time, Legolas dropped the arrow. "Canad." Again the child hesitated. ~{[Four.]}~
He looked up at Thranduil who held up five fingers, but instead of the right answer, the prince blurted out the first number that came to mind. "Odog." ~{[Seven.]}~
"Al si odog." his father corrected him, showing him seven fingers. ~{[No, this is seven.]}~
"Eneg?" ~{[Six?]}~
But when Elvenking shook his head, Legolas suddenly beamed.
"Leben!" ~{[Five!]}~
With a smile his father nodded and the Elfling grabbed another arrow. "Eneg a odog a pae!" ~{[Six and seven and ten!]}~
Sighing, Thranduil knew it was going to be a long day indeed.

Author's Notes:
- Sindarin isn't going to be 100% accurate because I'm still learning. I suck at syntax. Please forgive me. Sources include David Salo's "A Gateway to Sindarin" (ISBN: 0-87480-800-6) and Parf Edhellen (elfdict dot come) and Elendilion (Elendilion dot pl)
- Morolas "Moro" is a character of my own design. You may use him but please ask permission first.
- Because these are tiny drabbles, I will NOT be doing Muse Moments for each chapter.
- I was inspired to do these by Nyx Thranduilion who is also doing them. The original 100-drabbles challenge is in the invention of NirCele.
- All 100 of my drabbles will be Thranduil related... WEE!
- None of my drabbles will be in any sort of chronological order.
