A/N: Final part and the part I honestly was most excited to write, so I hope you like it!

You can hear it in the silence

Jay held Hailey's hand tightly as they walked into the ED waiting room at Med. All thoughts of keeping their relationship a secret didn't seem to matter anymore. Kim was having emergency surgery because of two bullet wounds. He had personally found her half-alive.

And Hailey had shot the man responsible for it all…off the record.

Jay didn't give a damn if anyone saw him holding her hand. He was going to support her in any way he possibly could because she was the most important thing he could truly focus on and control right now.

It wasn't exactly a bad thing either because he needed her just as much as she needed him. He needed to remember that she really was there with him and okay for the time being. She might be having a hard time, but she was alive and walking alongside him. It was the perfect reminder given where Kim was right now.

In general, he'd also just been feeling uncomfortable since he'd first arrived at Med with Kevin and Kim a couple hours before. He had never been a fan of hospitals in the least, but it was a whole other thing to now be on the other side of a medical procedure. It was unnerving to watch the doctors cut off Kim's clothes and examine her in ways he knew had been done to him.

Hailey's body pressed to the side of his arm reminded him that she had once been in his shoes watching his clothes be cut from him as doctors prepared him for surgery a year and a half before. That was not lost on him.

The entire day wasn't lost on him, especially after Hailey had brought up when he'd been kidnapped the year before. He had worked to push that thought out of his mind all day because he didn't want to imagine the pain he'd caused her.

"Hey," Will said once he'd spotted them, "She's still in surgery."

Jay nodded, "Thank you."

"Kevin and Platt are over there," Will pointed to the back corner, "Has anyone told Voight yet? Why isn't he here?" His eyes glanced toward Hailey knowing that she also hadn't been there when Jay and Kevin brought Kim in.

Hailey sucked in a breath and looked down at her feet.

Jay stepped in front of her, "Trudy might have. I'll check with her. Thanks."

Will nodded and ran a hand through his hair, "All right, I can sit with you for a bit if you want. I've had a pretty crazy twenty-four hours myself and-"

"Yeah, yeah, of course," Jay gripped Hailey's hand as he led them to some seats, "I think we could both use the distraction."

"Thanks," Will sat with a sigh. Once Jay was next to him, he launched into a story about Natalie and her mom and his failed drug trial that seemed to be enough to distract them all from where exactly they were sitting.

Jay was listening and giving him his full attention, but that didn't stop him from holding onto Hailey's hand and occasionally brushing his thumb along her knuckles. Without words, he needed to tell her that he was there for her every moment. He meant it when he said she was never going to be without him.

Hailey watched Will talk and only partially heard the words coming from his mouth. She was more focused on Jay's hand in hers. Just a few weeks before, she had been nervous about everyone at work finding out about them – now she didn't care. It didn't seem important given what was going on.

And if she was being selfish, she needed Jay in that moment to ground her.

Hearing about heart attacks like her dad's wasn't easy. Imagining what Kim had gone through in the past day wasn't easy. Thinking about what she had done just hours before wasn't easy.

Holding Jay's hand was easy, though, and it comforted her. It reminded her that he did love her and wasn't leaving her.

So when she looked up and met Kevin's eyes across the waiting room, she didn't blush or let go of Jay, she just smiled in the slightest bit.

Kevin smiled back and nodded. He wasn't shocked or surprised which didn't even shock Hailey. In the back of her mind, she had a feeling that everyone knew.

She wondered what Kim would say when she found out because she was going to find out; Hailey refused to believe that Kim was going to die in surgery.

Will eventually stood up and walked back into the ED to see if he could find anything else out about Kim.

Jay stifled a yawn and slid down slightly in his seat.

"Tired?" Hailey whispered.

"Long day," Jay breathed in, "I'm fine though."

Hailey nodded slightly and slipped her hand up to rub his arm, "You can close your eyes for a bit if you want."

"No, no, I'm good," Jay shook his head.

Hailey raised an eyebrow, "It's going to be a while."

"Talking from experience?" Jay asked quietly.

Hailey's eyes widened slightly. She wasn't quite sure if Jay was joking or not, so instead she scooted closer to him and moved to lightly rub his back over his jacket.

"I'm fine," Jay said without prompting.

Hailey shook her head and whispered, "None of us are."

Jay glanced up at her and nodded.

Hailey tried to smile at him then rubbed her face with her free hand. She took a deep breath and stretched her legs out. Her feet shook slightly, but whether that was from exhaustion, low blood sugar, or the amount of crying she had just done on the floor of her apartment, she wasn't sure.

Time ticked on.

The waiting room became filled with more cops as the news of what happened to Kim spread throughout the district. Kevin moved into the chair across from Jay and Hailey while still being on the phone with Adam, and Jay started drifting off to sleep with his head leaning on Hailey's shoulder. After walking a lap around the building, Trudy returned to the waiting room and sat next to Kevin. She just smiled at Hailey and teasingly rolled her eyes. Hailey let out a soft laugh and looked down at Jay's hand still holding onto her own.

It wasn't until Voight walked into the waiting room an hour later that time seemed to speed up. Jay had blinked his eyes open enough as he woke up from his nap to recognize him and was out of his seat before Hailey could say anything.

Jay roughly grabbed Voight's arm and pulled him off into a side hallway.

"She's not you," he hissed, "She's not you and yet you dragged her down with you."

Voight pushed Jay back, "Not here."

Jay poked Voight's chest over his badge, "I'm not letting you hurt her or destroy her career. Not anymore."

"Not here," Voight barked.

The side doors opened and Hailey stood staring at them both, "What's going on?" Her eyes were wide, but she couldn't find it within herself to look at Voight. Instead, she focused on the anger written across Jay's face. She quickly walked over and wrapped her hand around his wrist, "Stop."

Jay didn't soften his glare, but he did step back toward her. Without looking away from Voight, he said, "You better have fixed this and done a damn good job at it." He waited a beat as if to see if Voight would reply, so when he didn't, he turned and brought Hailey back into the waiting room.

"Jay," she breathed.

"No," he said quietly, "You let me do and say what I need to. I'm not losing you and that needs to be made crystal clear."

Hailey watched in slight shock as he sat back in his seat. She heard the door behind her open and knew it was Voight without turning around. She ignore him, though, and again sat next to Jay.

Trudy pursed her lips and raised an eyebrow.

Hailey blushed slightly and slipped her hand back in Jay's.

He finally started to relax and let out a breath. He sat up and whispered, "Sorry."

Hailey shook her head and gently squeezed his fingers.

Will came back in the waiting room with a doctor behind him. Hailey patted Jay's arm and stood with him and the others as they listened to hear what had happened to Kim.

Hailey closed her eyes in relief at the news that Kim was going to be okay. She tried not to think about the after effects of scarring and what the bullets had done to her internally. Right now, she needed to focus on the good and hope that Kim would wake up soon.

"Hey, Kev." Jay's voice was quiet as he put his hand out, "Can I talk to Adam?"

Kevin took a deep breath and turned off speaker phone before passing over his cell-phone to Jay.

Hailey put a hand on Kevin's arm and they both watched Jay clear his throat before saying, "Hey, you want to come up here?"

"No, you should be here," Jay continued a second later, "Hailey and I will watch her, it's okay, really."

Hailey smiled slightly and nodded at him.

Jay smiled back then said into the phone, "Yeah, we'll leave now. See you in a few." He passed Kevin back his phone and put his hand out to Hailey.

She took it and looked between Kevin and Trudy, "Call if you hear anything?"

"Of course," Trudy nodded before Jay and Hailey were quickly walking outside toward the truck.

"That was nice of you to do," Hailey said once they were inside and Jay was driving away.

He shrugged, "It's Adam and Kim, they should be together right now. If anyone can wake her up, it's him."

Hailey nodded and let out a breath.

They were both silent as Jay continued driving. He was a few blocks away from Kim's apartment when he said softly, "You woke me up."

Hailey glanced at him, "Sorry?"

Jay chuckled, "After my surgery, you were the reason I woke up. It's all kind of blurry. I remember your face like right here," he put his hand up to partially block his view, "And you kept telling me to hang on, that everything was going to be okay, but it hurt like hell and you kept touching it."

Hailey weakly laughed and leaned her head back to watch him talk about that damned day for the first time.

"I was terrified," Jay said, "I couldn't really breathe and I knew what was happening, like I knew I was shot and that I was being taken to Med, but," he took a deep breath, "I couldn't focus on anything until we were in the ambulance and you grabbed my hand and you were the only thing I could see and I could tell you were crying, but it hurt so bad and I couldn't talk. Your hand was soft, though, I liked it and I liked when you put your other one on my head. If I could feel all of that, I wasn't dead. And then everything was white and keeping my eyes open was too hard so even though I wanted to keep watching you, I couldn't do it."

Hailey knew exactly what moment he was referring to. She could so clearly remember how scared he had seemed in the ambulance and how she had tried calming him down by brushing her hand over his hair. He was right, she was crying the entire time. She also knew that the moment where he said 'everything was white' had to have been the moment the back doors had opened of the ambulance. It really had been bright, but by the time she had blinked past that, Jay's eyes had rolled back and his body had jerked around on the stretcher enough to scare everyone there.

She had managed to hold onto his hand until Will pulled her away so the nurses could get him out of his clothes.

"I was cold," Jay said and parked his car across from Kim's building, "But I was pretty sure you were holding my hand because my hand was hot." He smiled at the memory and looked at her, "Were you?" She just nodded and wiped her face to distract herself from any tears that might have been threatening to fall. Jay reached over to squeeze her knee, "You helped me." He shook his head and sighed, "After your hand was gone, I don't really remember much else. I remember being really cold, like way more than when I was holding your hand, and after watching Kim today, I'm guessing it was because they took off my clothes too. But then I woke up because my hand was hot again and I do remember that, do you?"

His smile was soft as he met Hailey's eyes. She smiled as well at the memory and nodded.

"You tell it," Jay said quietly and brushed his thumb over her cheek.

Hailey cleared her throat, "Well, I…I refused to leave the waiting room like I told you earlier, but then when Will asked if I wanted to go see you, I wanted to hit him because obviously I did. I needed to see you with my own eyes and you were much cleaner than I remembered, like that was all I could focus on at first – someone else had cleaned you up and I was jealous. I had wanted to help you feel better myself."

Jay laughed, "You can give me a sponge bath tomorrow."

Hailey rolled her eyes, "Shut up."

Jay winked, "What else? What happened next?"

"I sat down," Hailey said softly, "And I remembered all the times my parents had brought me to church and I prayed the Our Father or something, I didn't know what it'd do, but it was all I could think of, so I prayed and then I held your hand and asked you to wake up. I told you that you were too important to everyone, but especially to me, to leave this earth. Then I called you a dumbass." She smiled and squeezed his hand, "And then I just sat there and held you like this and waited and I think it took about an hour, but then you made a coughing noise and suddenly you were looking at me. I wanted to cry I was so happy, but I got the nurses and Will and you argued with them because you just wanted to be alone. I was going to walk away with them because of that, but then you said my name and you sounded hurt and so I went over and it was one of the best moments of my life because you were alive and you were asking for me and trying to grab my hand again and…"

Jay knew what came next and blushed as he looked down to play with her fingers.

Hailey frowned and quietly finished, "And you sort of cried, but it wasn't for long because then you were being you and asking how I was and if I'd gotten any sleep or ate." She laughed softly and tipped his head up, "Just like today. You always worry about me before yourself."

"I just don't like when you're hangry and tired," Jay softly teased.

Hailey laughed and leaned forward to kiss him lightly, "It was sweet even though it was also super annoying because you were the one in the hospital bed, but then you told me you felt like you were asleep forever and Voight was there…" she sighed, "And that was pretty much the end of me soaking up you being alive for the first day."

"You have no idea how much it means to me," Jay said softly, "Like everything. When you kept me company and took me home and helped me out and drove me places. I really, really do appreciate all of that."

"Hey, no one else I'd drop everything for and couch surf with for a night," Hailey smiled.

Jay chuckled and glanced behind her at Kim's building, "Even a little girl?"

Hailey let out a breath as she turned and followed his gaze, "Well, of course I'd drop anything for her. She needs a family right now."

"It's late too," Jay turned off the car, "She's probably asleep. We can take her for breakfast tomorrow, sound good?"

Hailey smiled and nodded, "I think she'd like that."

Together, they stepped out of the truck and walked up to Kim's apartment. Adam was already waiting in the doorway with his coat on for them.

"Thank you," he said as soon as they were in earshot, "Really, thank you so much."

"It's not a problem," Jay shook his head, "Take your time."

Adam nodded quickly and rubbed his face, "Okay, she – uh – she's asleep. I put her in her bed after you called. Hopefully she'll stay like that all night. I think tomorrow maybe I'll run home and grab some clothes so I can come back here and stay with her while Kim's…"

Hailey patted his arm, "We got it. Take your time, okay? We'll take care of her."

"Thank you," Adam shakily breathed. He swallowed hard against a lump in his throat then hurried past them down the hall.

Jay followed Hailey inside the apartment then locked the door before slipping his coat off, "You want to sleep in Kim's bed? I can take the couch."

Hailey laughed while setting her own coat over the back of a chair, "You can come sleep with me in Kim's bed."

"You sure?" Jay raised an eyebrow, "It's not weird?"

"We're not going to do anything," Hailey shook her head, "I just want to fall asleep and maybe cuddle a little."

Jay smiled, "See? You are soft."

Hailey rolled her eyes and lightly shoved him. She made her way down to Kim's room with Jay behind her, "I'd keep my shirt on if I were you, though, be respectful."

"Ah," Jay chuckled, "Copy."

Hailey smiled and slipped her jeans off before crawling under the blankets.

Jay laid next to her once he'd undressed and let out a breath as he pulled her closer to him. "Do you think Adam and Kim know about us?" he asked.

Hailey laughed softly, "I think everyone has kind of known for a while now."

"Yeah," Jay rubbed her back. He kissed the top of her head, "Listen, if taking care of Makayla is too much right now-"

Hailey put her hand on the side of his face, "Jay, I think it's the exact thing I need to do right now."

He smiled and nodded, "Okay."

Hailey couldn't fight the sleep any longer, so she hid a yawn behind her hand before burying her face in Jay's chest.

"Night, Hailey," Jay said softly and tightened his hold on her.

"Goodnight," she whispered back.

Jay's hand rubbed circles on her back that helped Hailey drift off to sleep within a couple minutes followed by Jay a minute later.

They were still tangled up together just past one in the morning when they were awoken by a loud scream down the hall.

"Wha's happening?" Jay mumbled and tried sitting up.

Hailey blinked her eyes quickly as the scream continued. She suddenly pushed against Jay and said, "Makayla."

They both ran out to Makayla's room where she was sitting up in her bed clearly terrified at whatever had haunted her nightmare.

Jay flipped the light on, "Makayla?"

Hailey hurried over to her bed and sat on the mattress, "Hi, hi, honey, it's Hailey and Jay."

Makayla whimpered and looked behind them.

Jay frowned, "It's just us, kiddo."

Makayla breathed in shakily then put her head in her hands.

"Oh, Makayla," Hailey whispered. She set her hand on Makayla's back, "You're safe, we're here."

Makayla leaned into her. She let out a quiet cry then turned to hug Hailey tightly.

Jay knelt in front of them and squeezed Makayla's knee as Hailey softly soothed her.

"Where's Kim?" Makayla asked so quietly both Hailey and Jay almost missed it.

They exchanged a look then Hailey said, "She's hurt right now, but Adam's with her and Kevin. They're keeping her company until she's strong enough to come home and see you."

Makayla whimpered again, "I miss her."

"I know you do," Hailey stroked her hair, "I'm so sorry."

Jay rubbed his thumb over Makayla's knee as he watched her cry quietly into Hailey's shirt. He glanced around and spotted little dolls on her nightstand. He grabbed one with his free hand, "What're these?"

Makayla looked up and quickly grabbed it from him. She then pushed away from Hailey to grab the others off the small table.

"I like those colors," Hailey said softly, "I like yellow."

Makayla glanced at her and smiled slightly. She rubbed her eyes before holding a light yellow one out, "It's trouble dolls."

"Trouble dolls?" Hailey asked and grabbed it, "What do they do?"

Makayla sniffled and passed Jay a blue one, "This." She put the rest under her pillow and patted it, "They take all troubles away. I need them."

"Very cool," Jay nodded.

"From Kim," Makayla whispered. She wiped her face and laid down blinking her eyes quickly. Her eyes darted between Hailey, Jay, and the door then she grabbed her platypus that she hugged to her chest tightly.

"Hey, Makayla," Jay said softly, "Sometimes I get nightmares too and when that happens, I like it when Hailey stays in my room with me. Do you want us to stay in here with you too?"

Makayla frowned and looked down at her platypus. She shrugged with a soft sigh.

Hailey tucked her in. "We'll do whatever you want," she said, "We just want you to feel safe."

Makayla slipped her hand from the blankets and grabbed Hailey's fingers. She pulled gently then reached out to Jay and wiggled her fingers.

He smiled, "Should we stay?"

"Yes," Makayla whispered.

"Sleepover," Hailey smiled and softly poked her side, "All right, I'll stay up here with you and Jay can sleep down there."

Makayla nodded and lifted up the other pillow for Hailey. She patted the mattress under it, "Trouble doll."

"Right," Hailey nodded and placed the yellow trouble doll down.

Makayla put the pillow back down then looked around the room. She pointed to a big unicorn and giggled quietly.

Jay smiled at the noise as he walked over to shut the lights back off, "What?"

"You can use it," Makayla said softly.

"Ah, for a pillow," Jay chuckled. He grabbed the unicorn and laid down with it on the rug.

"Don't forget your trouble doll," Hailey said while passing him a blanket from the end of the bed.

"Of course," Jay nodded. He slipped the trouble doll underneath the same unicorn he'd actually given Makayla when she first moved in with Kim and tried getting comfortable.

Makayla smiled at him then laughed again and looked at Hailey.

"He looks silly, doesn't he?" Hailey whispered.

Makayla nodded and slipped back under the blankets.

Jay chuckled, "Goodnight, Makayla."

"Goodnight," she said.

"Goodnight, Hailey," Jay added.

"Goodnight, Jay," Hailey laughed softly.

"Shh," Makayla whispered.

"Sorry," Hailey breathed. She settled into the mattress and put her hand on Makayla's back just like she would when Jay would wake up in the middle of the night and, just like with Jay, she stayed awake until she was positive Makayla was asleep.

She was carefully pushing herself up to tell Jay he could sneak away to the couch when she heard him let out a soft snore. She smiled and laid back down to easily fall asleep herself.

In the morning, Jay insisted on making pancakes despite the crick in his neck and how it hurt to stand up straight. As he cooked in the kitchen, Makayla showed Hailey her Barbies and they quietly dressed the few of them in new outfits for the day.

"I had a Barbie that was a vet," Hailey said softly, "It came with a dog and it was my favorite one."

Makayla smiled and passed her the Barbie dressed like an artist, "I like this one."

"She's super cute," Hailey nodded.

"I draw," Makayla said.

"I love your drawings," Hailey smiled, "Kim shows me all the time. You're so good."

Makayla's face lit up. She hurried over to the coffee table and grabbed the drawing she'd been working on the night before, "I made this."

"Oh, wow!" Hailey put her hand out, "See, you are an amazing artist."

Makayla blushed, but still passed it to her, "Thank you."

Hailey turned and said, "Jay, hey, come look what Makayla did."

He glanced behind him, "One second. I'm almost done."

Makayla sat next to Hailey and returned to dressing the Barbies. She tapped Hailey's shoulder, "Kim likes this one," she held up a long red dress.

"That's a very pretty dress," Hailey smiled, "Do you like dresses?"

"I love dressing up," Makayla pointed to a toy chest, "That's my clothes."

"You'll have to show me," Hailey softly knocked her shoulder against Makayla's.

"Okay," Jay brought the plate of pancakes to the table then came to squat next to them, "Let's see what Ms. Makayla made."

Hailey held out the drawing, "Isn't it cute?"

"Oh, totally," Jay nodded, "This belongs in a museum."

Makayla giggled and shrugged. She grabbed it to put it back on the coffee table. Her stomach grumbled making her laugh more.

Jay laughed with her as he walked over to the table, "Do you want some breakfast?"

"Please," Makayla said while sitting down.

Jay began buttering some of the pancakes and cutting them up for her. Hailey couldn't keep her eyes off of him as she poured out drinks for them.

Seeing Jay with Makayla was one of her newest favorite things. It made some forbidden thoughts cross her mind that she was just too nervous about to truly consider, but she didn't really hate it.

She briefly remembered asking him to marry her the night before and let out a soft breath. That question was bound to come up again later in the future, so she'd be better off waiting to potentially bring up kids then compared to right now when that marriage conversation was so fresh.

She sat next to Makayla at the table and passed her her juice, "Here you go."

"Thank you," Makayla said. She giggled when Jay set the pancakes in front of her and repeated, "Thank you."

Jay chuckled and sat down, "You're welcome."

As they all ate, Makayla stayed quiet and frequently glanced toward the door. With each glance, her smile seemed to fade until she was just frowning at her food and poking it.

Hailey cleared her throat and took a sip of water before saying, "How about I put your hair in pigtails after this? Do you want to pick out your own outfit too?"

Makayla smiled slightly and nodded.

"Cool," Hailey smiled back. She patted Makayla's arm softly, "We're not going anywhere, okay? We're going to stay here until Adam comes back."

Makayla bit her lip and whispered, "Promise?"

Jay wiped his hand on his napkin then held it out to her, "We'll shake on it. We promise we're not going to leave you alone."

Makayla cracked a smile and shook his hand.

"Perfect," Hailey said, "All right, let's finish up and then we can all draw together. I think that would be fun."

"Me too," Makayla nodded. She finished her pancakes looking much more relaxed. While she still kept glancing toward the door, she was no longer frowning and had a small smile on her face when she cleared her plate. She waited for Hailey to finish to grab her hand and lead her down to her room.

It didn't take long for Jay to wash all the dishes, so by the time he was done and going to Makayla's room, Hailey was finishing tying up her hair.

He leaned against the doorway to watch as she tried making sure the two pigtails were even. He smiled and imagined her doing the hair of a little blonde girl in a pink room similar to Makayla's.

He hadn't thought of having kids with her until Makayla came into their lives – well, Kim's life – but then he couldn't stop. Whenever he saw her playing a game with Makayla or making her laugh, he now pictured her doing the same thing with kids that looked like them. Sometimes they were blonde little girls, other times they were a mix of boys and girls with brown hair. Either way, his imagination solidified that Hailey was his future.

The front door of Kim's apartment opened and Makayla gasped at the noise. She ran past Jay and down the hall.

He raised an eyebrow and followed her with Hailey on his heels.

Adam had Makayla in a big hug and was spinning her around. "I needed that big hug," he said softly.

Makayla smiled and patted his back.

Adam spotted Jay and Hailey and nodded, "Hey, everything go okay?"

"Of course," Hailey smiled, "She was perfect."

Makayla's smile widened and she pushed against Adam so he'd let her down.

"What about you?" Jay asked.

"Uh," Adam took a deep breath and watched Makayla go to the coffee table where she sorted through her pictures, "Fine, it's fine. She's still sleeping. Kevin went home a few hours ago, but he's going to come here in a bit and watch this one for me so I can head back there."

"She'll wake up," Jay nodded, "I'm sure of it."

"Hope so," Adam breathed. He slipped his coat off and tossed it on top of his duffel bag he'd brought, "Thanks again for coming over."

"It wasn't a problem," Hailey shook her head, "We'll definitely do it again."

"Thanks," Adam sighed. He rubbed his face and yawned, "I need a nap."

Makayla hurried back and passed Jay and Hailey both a small drawing – Jay's was of a teddy bear and Hailey's had several flowers on it. She smiled, "For you."

"Thank you so much!" Hailey knelt down to hug her, "I love it."

Jay smiled and brushed his hand over her hair, "Thanks, Makayla, and thanks for hanging out with us."

Makayla smiled and nodded, "You're welcome."

"You two should go home and sleep," Adam said while passing them their jackets, "You look exhausted too."

"Not a bad idea," Hailey smiled slightly at Jay.

"Yeah, quick nap then we can head back to the hospital. We can bring you lunch," Jay said.

"I'd appreciate it," Adam let out a long breath.

Hailey squeezed his arm as she walked around him to the door, "Bye, Makayla, we'll see you later."

Makayla waved and used her other hand to grab onto Adam's shirt, "Bye."

"Bye, kiddo," Jay smiled at her then walked out with Hailey. He waited until the door was closed to yawn.

Hailey laughed softly, "Tired?"

"My back is killing me," Jay chuckled and began the walk down to the parking lot.

Hailey set her hand on him, "Sorry."

Jay shook his head, "It was worth it."

Hailey smiled slightly and reached up to kiss his cheek.

Jay smiled back and hugged her to his side.

They were quiet the rest of the way to the truck and then all the way back to Hailey's apartment. As he drove, Jay continued thinking about his future with Hailey and considered when would be the right time to properly propose to her. On the other hand, Hailey looked out the window and thanked the universe for putting Jay in her life because she knew he was her true future.

They were silent the rest of the morning even when they were in the apartment getting ready for their quick naps. It was a comfortable silence, though, and neither regretted it.

They knew after the past twenty-four hours they'd had that a little bit of silence was okay.

Besides, they were at the point in their relationship that they didn't need to say anything to know they were in love with each other. Falling asleep within each other's arms was more than enough to remind them that they were going to do this for the rest of their lives.
