A/N: So, I found a little bit of time in between my Law studies to write this quick one-shot. I've always wanted to read a fic where Molly and Lily meet in the after-life as Molly really took over from Lily as being a mother to Harry when Lily could no longer be there. This takes place in the year 2095 after Molly dies at the rip old age of 145. Assume canon other than where it is inconsistent.
A/N #2: Shameless plug. If you're interested in a fic about Draco's transition from pureblood supremacist through to the man that taught Scorpius tolerance of muggles and muggle-borns, check out my other fic Draco's Journey which will go all the way to the end of the Battle of Hogwarts and will have a sequel. s/13939078/1/Draco-s-Journey
Molly opened her eyes. She was standing on a marble floor, in a place which looked remarkably like Kings Cross Station. A moment later, she came to the realisation that she was naked. This didn't surprise her. She'd overheard Harry telling Ron and Hermione what went on here when he had come here after facing Voldemort in the forest and was aware that he had awoken in nothing but his birthday suit. She immediately summoned clothes with her mind as Harry had described doing when telling the tale to his two best friends.
Suddenly, she heard a wale. She noticed it was coming from what looked like a small creature a short way ahead of where she stood, under a park bench. She approached and jumped back, it was a truly disgusting creature. But then she remembered what Harry had said about the piece of Voldemort's soul that was within Harry that had arrived here with Harry to die. But this creature was bigger than what Harry had described. She put it out of her mind, not having the slightest bit of pity for any discomfort someone as evil as Voldemort may be in and looked around, seeing what else was there.
She thought momentarily back to when Harry had said he had met Dumbledore. She wondered if anyone would be there to meet her. She thought of Arthur who had died two years previous. She thought of her brothers Fabian and Gideon. She thought of her mother and father. But then she heard a voice from behind her.
"Hello Mother!" She turned around and saw a tall, red haired man. She ran at the man and nearly knocked him over with her embrace, tears in her eyes.
"FRED!" she yelled.
"I'm not Fred. I'm George. Honestly woman, you call yourself our mother," the man said good naturedly.
"George? You have both your ears, and you're young again!" Molly said through tears.
"That's the good thing about this place mother, it makes us young and whole again. Well, except for murderous gits like that disgusting piece of trash over there," he replied, pointing over towards where Voldemort's soul lay whimpering. Molly indeed did have her red hair back instead of the white hair that she'd inherited in her old age.
"Oh George, you have no idea how much I've missed you." Molly said tearfully. George had died not long after the final battle from the complications of an infection in the hole in the side of his head from where his ear had been blasted off. Dust and dirt from the battle had gotten into the hole which caused the infection. That was the official medical reason anyway, all his family and friends believed it was because he couldn't bear to be apart from Fred.
"I've missed you too Mum. Just one thing though," he replied with a mischievous grin. "I'm only joking. I am Fred."
Molly, instead of scolding Fred, laughed heartily and more tears fell from her eyes. "I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I've missed your pranks driving me crazy."
"Well, it's a good thing we've got an eternity to prank you. George will be thrilled to hear you say that," he replied. Molly laughed as she released Fred. "He's waiting for us. As is Dad and everyone. But there's someone who wants to meet you, well meet you again, before we move on."
It was at this moment that Molly noticed the woman standing a short way behind Fred. She had long red hair and emerald, green eyes. Lily Potter walked up to Molly and Fred. "Molly, it's great to see you again."
"Lily. It's been so long." Molly said, embracing Lily.
"I want to thank you Molly. For being the mother to Harry that I couldn't be. For treating Harry like he was your own son and looking after him as such." Lily said in a tone of gratitude to match the gratitude showing on her face.
"It was my pleasure. He turned out to be such a sweet boy. I just wish you could have been there." Molly replied.
"Oh I was, I was with Harry every day in his heart. I couldn't be seen, nor could I do anything other than observe, but I was there." Lily said. "I want you to know how appreciative I am. In return for everything you did for my son. When Fred, and then George soon after, arrived, I did my best to look after them and become the mother to them that you had become to my son until you could arrive. James did the same until Arthur could arrive."
"They did Mum. Lily and James have been amazing." Fred affirmed.
"Thank you, Lily," Molly said gratefully.
"I have to say, if you thought the twins were a handful when you all were alive, that was nothing compared to when they teamed up with James, Sirius and Remus. A complete nightmare. It was like the Marauders were back together again." Lily said, a hint of exasperation in her voice.
"Come on Lily, you love our pranks. I know you do." Fred said with a mischievous grin. Lily rolled her eyes. Molly smiled.
"I can imagine James and Sirius planting ideas in their heads." Molly said with a laugh.
"Yes, no one has changed." Lily laughed. At this point, the piece of Voldemort's soul made a loud wailing sound. They all looked around at it in disgust.
"That thing is bigger than what Harry described from when he was here. Do either of you know why that is?" Molly asked.
"Yes, I do. Albus believes that with all the horcruxes Voldemort created destroyed, and then the monster himself finally destroyed – something I am immensely proud of my son for – the pieces of his soul have been united into one being, sent here to die. However, they aren't united in a way that makes his soul whole like our souls are. They are purely united because they have come here. The only way to truly make the soul whole again after doing what Voldemort did is to show remorse, which he never did. Because the pieces of his soul are united, but his soul is not whole, this makes that disgusting creature bigger, but it also means that he cannot go back to the land of the living as a ghost or move on to the afterlife. He is suspended here forever in agony. Something that Harry tried to warn him about before sending him here, but of course his ego meant he didn't listen." Lily said with disdain in her voice.
"Honestly, that's all he deserved." Molly said with equal disdain. Molly had a burst of curiosity at this point. "Do either of you know what became of Bellatrix Lestrange?"
"I was wondering when you were going to ask that Mother. I never knew you had that type of ruthlessness in you." Fred said with a wide grin.
"Never underestimate a mother's love Fred. If you try and hurt a child, a mother's love will destroy you. Both Voldemort and Bellatrix found that out." Lily said wisely. Molly smiled. "To answer your question Molly, she came through here too. She actually arrived while I was here with Gideon, Fabian and Billius welcoming Fred. It was less than pleasant, but the good thing about this place is the unforgivable curses she's so fond of don't work here. That doesn't mean she didn't try her best efforts to use the cruciatius curse. She tried in vain for a while to fix Voldemort. It was quite amusing seeing her make a fool of herself. Frank, Alice, Sirius and Nymphadora got a good laugh out of the story."
"So, Frank and Alice are in their right mind again?" Molly asked.
"Don't you remember what I told you Mum? This place makes you young and whole again. That includes mentally." Fred said.
"Yes, it's good to see them happy again. Instead of the fate they were sentenced to by that evil witch." Lily said with an expression on her face halfway between a smile at the Longbottom's current state and a grimace at the memory of their previous living state after the Death Eaters' attack.
"That is so good to hear. I'm looking forward to catching up with them." Molly said.
"Anyway, in the end, Bellatrix gave up and decided to move on. But she hasn't moved on to the place we're going too. She's gone to a place much hotter." Lily said in a satisfied tone.
"I'm so proud of you Mum." Fred said with pride in his voice. Molly simply smiled.
Just then, a train which looked remarkably like the Hogwarts Express pulled into the station.
"Well Molly, time to go if you want to, or you can go back to the land of the living as a ghost." Lily said.
"What do you say Mum?" Fred said.
"I say, let's go and see your father and brother. It's time we were a family again. Plus, I have to thank James." Molly said. With that, the three of them boarded the train to move on.
