On a moonlit sandy beach entrenched in dark, a cloaked figure looked on at the taller cloaked figure who sat on a rock close by. His mind was hazy as he had only been conscious for a few days but even so, a semblance of curiosity began to bubble within him.
"I've been to see him." The sitting cloaked figure said he turned his head slightly towards his junior. "He looks a lot like you."
"Who are you?"
"I'm what's left." He said, lowering their head slightly. "Or...maybe I'm all there ever was."
"I meant your name."
"My name is of no importance. What about you? Do you remember your true name?" As the cloaked figure asked that, he lowered his head, wondering what having a name could mean.
"My true name is…"
The younger cloaked figure lowered his head as he tried to recall anything that could answer the question, but nothing came to mind.
"You have been with us for six days now. The time has come… " The cloaked figure stood up and then walked towards him, placing a hand on his shoulder as he walked past- revealing his face. "[ _ _ _ _ ]"
He watched as the other figure disappeared through the void of darkness. Yet he lingered for a little while, looking out towards the ocean- hearing the sound of the waves echo in his ears. For some reason the image of the light in the distance made his chest feel tight.
In Roxas's room, stood two higher-ups from the Organization, looking on at number 13th's slumbering from.
"Naminé must have begun her work…" Saix informed as he stood next to his leader. Roxas's sudden slumber was no surprise, though it would become a temporary hindrance.
"When will he wake from this?" Xemnas asked, looking directly at Roxas.
"I am told he will- once Namine collects the memories that are needed."
"Then much hinges on Castle Oblivion." Xemnas said with a hint of amusement.
"We needn't stop collecting hearts. Number XIV has gained power over the Keyblade, just as we intended. Xion can fill Roxas's shoes for the
time being."
"And the chamber?"
Saïx shook his head. "No, sir. I would say progress is slow...if we had actually made any."
"If I may ask, once the plan proceeds as intended what will happen to the vessel?"
"Nothing." Xemnas informed. "It's creation was never meant to be, thus it will return to oblivion just as so."
"Of course sir." Saïx said, nodding his head respectfully as he left the room.
As the doors closed, Xemnas looked at Roxas with an unreadable expression.
"So, sleep has taken you yet again… "
When the Nobody was first found, there was an unmistakable resemblance towards another who held a key in the past. With Roxas here within the present, an amused thought took hold in Xemnas's mind; What if he were to take the Nobody to that place, somewhere where memories of a mournful past could surface- cementing his role as the needed vessel.
