Chapter 21 Bragging Rights

A.N. – So, basically the only thing changing for this chapter is the bet. Since William is in a different class, Odd makes a bet with someone else. Who that is, I can't say? All you have to do is read.

Guest – Even if you didn't suggest it, I would have done it anyways. I had that idea before I wrote Final Round. 1. Sadly, it is all researched at the time of your review. Just keep in mind that I'm always one episode ahead of the one you are reading. 2. I'll keep it in mind, but no guarantees. I never make guarantees, unless I know it will happen. 3. It's in here, don't worry! 4. I don't know what episode you are trying to reference here. If you're talking about Aelita using her big one that she used in Skidbladnir, I have plans for that next chapter. If not, be a little more specific so I can address you properly.

James Marshall – I keep it in the mind, but I got a lot of other stories going on. I got two of my own to write after this one concludes. For your second review, I could do that as I am a fan of the Terminator series. But like your other idea, I'll keep it in mind. As in 'if I think of a way it could work, I'll add it to my bio'.

Spectacular Webhead 11 – Far from, but when Down to Earth happens, I will add a lot of stuff to make it better than the original. Trust me. I can't tell you what because I want it to be a surprise for everyone. It is one of the episodes I'm looking forward too though.

multiman37 – Around episode 90, and some more clarification on a bonus episode before Fight to the Finish.

The spiders from the Amazon lab crawl after Yumi, who's running down the hall as an alarm is going off. William is with her, and they both slide to a stop. The spiders surround them.

"Uh no," William says at their current situation. "And here this was supposed to be easy!"

Several Hours Earlier…

"I'll say it once more, for those of you daydreaming," Jim announces to the class inside the gym. "One, run up. Two, jump onto springboard. Three, push off the horse. Four, pike vault, and five, land feet together on the mat. You got that?"

"No, I didn't get it at all coach," Herb calls out, holding up a finger. "So, would you mind giving us a demonstration Jim?"

"What's the matter with you Pichon? There's nothing to it. Only a half-wit couldn't manage it!" He faces the pommel horse, glancing to the class behind him. He clears his throat and tuns up.

"One, two, three-" Odd counts, his eyes widening as Jim lets out a scream.

"Oh!"

"He got to five without doing four!" Odd puts a hand over his mouth, the class laughing as Jim landed headfirst.

"Pichon!" Jim says in annoyance at their laughing. "Funny, huh!" He turns around so that he's not getting blood rushing to his head. "Let's see what you can do." Herb reluctantly moves away from the students. "And don't forget those five golden rules!"

Herb starts running, but trips. He does land on the springboard but goes flying onto the mat. The class laughs at him next as Jim looks over the boy.

"Ha ha! That horse oughta be in the rodeo!" Odd points at the boy.

"Della Robbia! Your turn to fall!"

Odd clears his throat. "Okay!" He runs forward and jumps, doing a flip. He lands on the pommel horse, impressing the class as he goes a split, bringing his legs together. Jim stares and then he lands safely, smirking. "How was that? You're right Jim, only a half-wit couldn't manage it!"

Jim growls lowly, narrowing his eyes.

"Come on! I don't believe it," Odd complains to himself after class is over. "I do a vault worthy of the Olympics and bam, 4 hours of detention! Is that the kind of payoff I deserve?"

"Who are you trying to kid?" Jeremy walks up to him with Aelita. "Your middle name oughta be Braggart Odd!"

"That's for sure, I can't remember even one day that you didn't sing your own praises!" Aelita adds in, slightly smiling.

"Hey, that is so wrong on both accounts! And I can prove it to you too!" Odd retorts back.

"Okay then, since William and Yumi are going to be teleported tonight, I bet you your desserts for a week that you won't brag on the replica once" Aelita bets him.

"You're on!"

"Don't forget, Jeremy will also be listening. So, you can't pull any fast ones."

"Okay then. I know someone who just bought himself some yummy seconds."

"Okay, since we're done here, we need to see Yumi and William to prepare the mission back to the jungle lab tonight" Jeremy tells the two.

"On top of that, it shouldn't be a problem. Odd knocked out the energy field protecting it last time" Aelita adds in.

"And once again, where mere mortals would have failed, Odd demonstrates his great talent and skill" Odd says.

"So, thanks to our non-bragging hero, it's going to be a piece of cake" Jeremy states with a smile.

Later on, Yumi moves away the manhole cover, climbing down the ladder first. Jeremy and Aelita follow after. She grabs a skateboard, Jeremy and Aelita grabbing their scooters. Together, they skate down the path, with Yumi taking the lead. Odd jumps and slides down the railing, William doing the same. They reach the ladder that leads to the bridge, climbing up to it. Jeremy runs first, the others following after. Jeremy and Odd jump down to the main floor first, Yumi and William going afterwards. He lands just as his sister arrives. Jeremy presses the button and they all go down to the lab.

A few minutes later, the elevator to the skid arrives, the four steeping on. It takes them to their ship. They float above the digital sea.

"I'm entering the coordinates of the replica," Jeremy says. The skid enters the digital sea. "Holo web system connected. You should be able to see it now, I've got it on radar."

"Affirmative. Skid in position in front of the entrance. Digital key engaged" Aelita says to Jeremy. The key activates in front of the replica and Jeremy does the rest. The door slowly opens to allow the skid inside. They end up inside the forest replica and Aelita moves the ship to a tower. "Tower in sight Jeremy. Docking." She mounts the ship to the tower.

"Gotcha. I'm activating the tower for us," The tower's halo turns green a few seconds later. "Are you ready?"

"Ready" Yumi replies.

"Teleportation William. Teleportation Yumi."

The two materialize inside the laboratory, landing safely on their feet.

"Nice job Jeremy! This program is incredible!" William congratulates him.

"Your teleportation is pretty accurate. We're in the middle of the lab" Yumi smirks slightly.

"Cut the flattery guys, before it goes to my head, like Odd!" Jeremy comments.

"I do not have a swelled head!" Odd protests at this. "That being said, considering my extraordinary exploits last time, I don't see why I wasn't teleported over!"

"Gotta give everyone a chance to have fun Odd! Besides, you have an active bet with Aelita, and we need to keep an eye on you."

"And if you want to sacrifice all your dessert to me, keep it up!" Aelita teases. Odd looks away with a pout.

"Okay map director Jeremy, where is the supercomputer?" William asks.

"Go east, and go through a door, then go straight and a little further on at the left, and you should see the supercomputer door" Jeremy instructs them.

"Let's head out Yumi." The two follow the directions. William peaks through the door. "Hello there supercomputer."

"Great, all you gotta do now is open the door and trash the supercomputer. We told you this would be no problem."

Yumi tries to open the door but fails. "Jeremy, why can't I get the door open?"

"Oh right! Last time Aelita used her digital power to open it…hang on, I-I'll figure out something."

"No time Jeremy" William says approaching the panel.

"William, wait-" He smashes the interface with his fist.

"Oops, sorry."

"Great, now the panel's dead and the door is still locked!" Yumi frowns in disappointment.

"What an idiot! I said to wait William!" Jeremy frowns towards the screen.

"Hey, the quicker we get done here, the faster we can stop Xana. But any plan B's?" William asks.

"Well, for one, you can keep your hands to yourself…Hold on," he begins typing to find an alternate opening. "Ah! I've got an idea! You guys have to cut the power to the door's electromagnetic locking mechanism."

"And where is this power source?"

"I'll guide you there!"

"I'll stay here. As soon as it opens, I'll get rid of that supercomputer" Yumi tells him.

"William, turn around and go back to the first intersection. Then take the corridor on the right."

"Here I go!" He starts running down the hall.

"Jeremy, can you hear us?" Aelita speaks up as the two are still in the skid. "Everything okay?"

"Uh, just a little problem. No sweat! Everything's cool." Jeremy reports.

"Are you sure? Because I'd love to go and help William and Yumi. Modesty of course" Odd says.

"Sorry Odd, but you've got your work cut out for you already. I just spotted an activated tower" Jeremy replies as the superscan becomes active.

"We're on it Jeremy. Get ready to disembark Odd. Disembark!" Aelita taps a few buttons to disembark her and Odd from the skid.

"Einstein, could you send us-" the Overboard materializes before Odd could finish.

"What were you saying Odd?" Jeremy asks.

"Um, nothing, thanks."

"Uh oh…it looks like we got a problem here too" Aelita points out.

Jeremy types and hits a button to see what's going on. "I see Ulrich! And three hornets."

Ulrich is running straight for the duo, the monsters flying over him.

"Jeremy, should Odd stay here and fight them off while I deactivate the tower?"

"No, the tower's too far away and Odd could never handle them alone."

"Three hornets and my good buddy Ulrich? Four laser arrows and it's game over" Odd says.

"Odd, don't forget, the desserts will be mine" Aelita places her hands on her hips.

"Ha ha. That isn't bragging, it's the simple truth." The hornets start firing and Odd crosses his arms. "Shield! You see? Lucky for us, I was here."

Aelita silently rolls her eyes.

"Listen, it's easy. Just hold off Ulrich long enough for William to neutralize the generator. It'll only take a few minutes" Jeremy shrugs a little. He hopes this one will be the one.

"No problem!" Odd hops onto his vehicle, flying straight towards them. Aelita stands guard, while Jeremy contacts William.

"William, do you read me? Where are you?"

"The generator room" he reports.

"That's great. Tell me how it looks."

"Uh…" William stares at it. "It looks complicated and I'm not technical so, just know that this is not a normal generator."

"Okay, now just neutralize the commutator that powers the lab doors."

"A commutator?"

"The button! Do you see the little red button?"

"Yeah, but there are also ten others!"

"Just proceed by elimination."

"And give Xana the upper hand? No, I got a better idea" William says gripping the handle of his sword.

"Let me guess. Smashing the generator and short-circuiting the supercomputer?"

"My words exactly."

"Uhh, give me a minute to think it over."

Odd is flying straight towards the monster, taking a deep breath. Ulrich sets his sights on a defenseless Aelita.

"This way kitties!" Odd flies away from the hornets, who follow him.

Yumi leans against the door and opens and closes her fan. She suddenly hears a strange noise. She steps into the middle of the hall, both fans drawn. She approaches the source of the sound.

Odd gets the hornets to fly away from the tower, looking over his shoulder. He suddenly comes to a stop, the hornets flying past him. "Laser arrow!" he fires twice and only manages to destroy one of them. The two hornets turn around and fly straight towards him. He avoids the lasers and jumps into the air, backflipping. "Laser arrow!" From behind, he destroys the second hornet. He lands on his Overboard. "If I tell them, they'll still say I'm bragging again!" he pouts a bit, flying away.

Yumi looks around the corner, stepping into the hall. She hears the noise again, and she presses her ear to the door. The door opens and Yumi steps inside slowly.

"Jeremy, remind me of what there is in the vivarium?" she asks.

"Cybernetic spiders" he responds.

Suddenly, one of the spiders fall in front of Yumi, and she backs away. Another one falls from behind.

"You guys are ugly!" Yumi yelps as a spider jumps towards her. The spider knocks her down and crawls up to her. It scratches its claws. Yumi kicks it away from her. She backflips onto her feet, throwing her fan. The spider dodges it and she catches her weapon. "I've had enough of your cyber spiderweb!" She runs out of the room. "Jeremy, those cyber spiders are being controlled by Xana, they're just behind me!"

"Not for long, the supercomputer should be offline in just a couple of seconds. William, your idea isn't big on finesse, but it should work. Do it" Jeremy informs him.

"Oh, this will be fun" William declares drawing his sword. He jumps and slices through the generator and the facility, including the supercomputer shut down.

Yumi is completely cornered by the spiders. "Hey Jeremy, whatever you want for that short circuit?" Yumi asks pulling out her fans.

"Right now," he replies.

The spiders all drop, and she sighs in relief.

Odd is still being chased by the hornet, which suddenly disappears. "Huh? Where'd it go? Wow, even my good looks blow them away! Jeremy, what's happening?"

"We did it!" he replies.

"Already?"

Back at the skid, Ulrich approaches Aelita.

"Energy field!" Aelita shoots tow, which Ulrich both slices. She steps back and fires again as Ulrich dodges.

"Aelita, the replica is disappearing! Better get airborne!" Jeremy informs her.

She swipes her bracelet and takes flight. The land underneath Ulrich disappears, causing him to fall. Odd joins her side.

"That was what you call a real swan dive" Odd comments.

"I told you this would be a piece of cake!" Jeremy smiles proudly. "You can head for the skid now, your missions over guys! Are you ready William? I'm teleporting you back."

The power suddenly returns. "Uh oh, bad news Jeremy" William announces.

"What?"

"I think Xana just hit the emergency breaker."

The facility jumps to life, an alarm goes off, the supercomputer restarts, as well as the spiders…

The disappearing replica regenerates and Aelita and Odd land.

"Uh Jeremy, is the replica supposed to be regenerating?" Odd asks.

"No, it's not supposed to," Jeremy explains, narrowing his eyes as he tries to figure out what's going on. "William, there's gotta be a backup generator somewhere."

"Yeah, but where? This pace is huge!" William replies.

"How do I know?" Jeremy retorts back. "I'm looking for it!"

"I'm heading back to Yumi."

"Jeremy, how come you haven't teleported me back yet?" Yumi asks. "And what's that alarm?"

"Oh, a little hang up, nothing important."

Yumi stops and notices the spiders are back. One attacks her.

"Hey ugly!" William says as he cuts the spider in two. "Back off!" The two take off from the spiders. "Jeremy, a location would really be helpful now?"

"I still can't find it!" Jeremy continues looking at the blueprints.

"Then do us a favor and deactivate the tower to get rid of these spiders!"

"Aelita, you have to deactivate the tower. Odd, you stay and protect the skid."

"Oh no, why do I have to stay while everyone else is having fun?" Odd complains.

"Odd?" Aelita asks. "your desserts, mine?"

"What? I wasn't bragging," Odd defends himself. Suddenly Ulrich comes jumping out of the air and lands on the ground. He stares down the two. "Great! Ulrich shows up to be with his best friend! Go on, Aelita!"

She rolls her eyes and jumps onto his Overboard, taking off. He prepares his arrows as Ulrich rushes him.

"Feel like playing tag?" Odd waves him forward. Ulrich slashes with both sabers, Odd jumping backwards. He backflips away from Ulrich. It's his first-time facing Ulrich since his possession. He had to be careful. Xana or not, Ulrich was always better than him.

Yumi and William turn the corner, Yumi looking over her shoulder. The cybernetic spiders are still on their trail.

"Uh no," William says at their current situation. "And here this was supposed to be easy."

"Aelita, better hurry. William and Yumi are in a huge jam!" Jeremy tells her.

"Aelita flies down a path. "I'm doing what I can! I still got a ways to go!" Aelita responds as she sees the tower up ahead.

The duo stands defensively in front of the approaching spiders.

Odd backs up from Ulrich, who rushes again. "For my master!" Ulrich declares as he tries a two-hit combo but fails. Odd looks at his legs and crawls underneath them.

"For me! Gotcha!" he punches Ulrich onto the ground. "Stings, doesn't it?"

"Super sprint!"

"Laser arrow!" Odd misses as Ulrich is to fast to hit. Ulrich then tries multiple slash attacks. Suddenly Ulrich sweeps Odd's feet and kicks him off the platform. Ulrich knew Odd was resourceful and would not go down that easily. He looked for where Odd was going to be coming from. Odd crawls under the plateau. He had to be careful or risk falling into the digital sea. He goes to the other side. He sees Ulrich looking away. "Yoohoo!" Ulrich turns around only to meet a quick arrow. "Laser arrow!"

Odd successfully defeats Ulrich. "Odd, did you just blow Ulrich away by yourself?" Jeremy asks in surprise as he watches Ulrich's icon disappear from the screen.

"Yep!"

"No boasting?"

"What do you think I am, a braggart?"

"Hm," Jeremy raises a brow, turning his attention to the lab. "Yumi, William! I just located the auxiliary generator!"

The two have defeated a few spiders, but there not all gone.

"Great, now we can die in peace," William comments at their end. "Man, I hate spiders!"

A spider leaps towards them, and they both scream. "Yumi! William!" Jeremy shouts in panic.

"Jeremy, you there?" Odd calls out as he's still on the ground. "What happened to Yumi and Ulrich's rival?" He sees the two in their navskids. "Hmm, interesting. I get it, they knock each other out! Well Jeremy, we kind of blew our mission, didn't we?"

"Not at all, I found the auxiliary generator, but the problem is, there is no one to take it out."

"I don't want to sound pretentious, but there's me!" Odd offers.

"Okay, get back into the skid. I'll teleport you" Jeremy reports.

"Roger! But once I succeed, don't say I did it just to show off!" Odd is back in the ship. "I'm ready to go Jeremy.

"I read you. Teleportation Odd." He taps enter and Odd disappears. He lands in the hallway, standing up.

"What now?"

"First get out of the lab and watch out for spiders!"

"I can't see any hairy legs yet!" Odd states.

"Well, I can Odd," Two tarantulas appear to destroy the skid and Yumi and William as well… "William, Yumi, you gotta get up and fast too. If the skid goes, so do you. Get up!" Jeremy urges them. The tarantulas fire, while Yumi and William are still unconscious.

"Jeremy, I'm out of the lab. Which way now?"

"Go left. You should run right into the auxiliary generator."

Odd peeks and sees spiders all over it. "Uh oh. That generator's a really popular spot, isn't it?"

"Why?"

"Because it looks like there's a full house."

Aelita finally reaches the tower. "Aelita, you have to deactivate that tower right away!" Jeremy urges her.

"Almost there! Just a few seconds more!" However, a few hornets show up. "Oh no!" They hit the Overboard…and then they devirtualizes her.

"Odd!"

"I don't believe it. Let me guess, I'm on my own from now on, right?"

"Sorry about that. Better make it fast too, or else we can say goodbye to the skid, William, and Yumi for good!"

The skid's shields get weaker with each shot.

Odd prepares his arm, running out of hiding. "Geronimo!" Odd runs toward the spiders. "Laser arrow!" Odd goes all out and destroys the spiders. "Hi there!" He fires at point blank range. "Jeremy, I need ammunition!"

"Hang on a second. I'm reloading you now…okay, you're all set."

Odd defeats more spiders. He jumps on one's head and flips. He lands on another, and jumps. "Lase arrow!" He is able to replicate the stunt like in gym. "Yes!" He hears a spider approaching and moves away, allowing the spider to destroy itself. "How's that for a pike vault?"

"Odd…you've got just one shot, so take good aim" Jeremy informs him.

"One shot is all I need…" he fires and successfully disables the generator. He flies backwards due to the explosion. "Can't say I didn't aim well."

The facility shuts down and the supercomputer is finally destroyed. "Deteleportation Odd."

Odd appears in the pilot's seat. "Hey, nice place you got here Aelita." He has never piloted the skid yet.

William finally wakes up. "What happened?"

"Nothing, things are cool. Go back to sleep."

The replica begins to disappear. "You can come back now guys. It's over" Jeremy tells them.

"We're off!" Odd pilots the ship away from the tower and into the network. As the skid speeds away, the replica explodes.

Jeremy places the microphone onto the keyboard.

"You were right. You couldn't have asked for an easier mission" Aelita says to him.

Night turns into day as William hears the news. "So, he made a bet with my sister, wiped out Ulrich and replica on his own? Insane!" William exclaims.

"And he hasn't bragged about it once!" Jeremy adds.

"Doesn't sound like Odd."

"Who know? Maybe he's changed."

"I wouldn't bank on that Jeremy."

"Miracles happen. He might have become a sensible, responsible kid!"

"Yeehaw!" Odd slides. "40 point on seconds flat! You are now looking at the new record holder for the fastest shower! How cool is that? Give me an O! Give me a D! Give me another D! Who's the man of the century? It's Odd! And you' re handsome too! I love it when you break records like that!"

"Really?" William asks.

"Yeah, right. Tell Aelita she can have my desserts!" Odd flexes.

"You, no dessert?"

"I guess I've gotta face facts. Yes, I'm a braggart, and I love it that way! Svelte, but muscular, don't you think?"

When Odd gets his dessert, he immediately gives it to Aelita.

"You don't want it?" Aelita asks.

"Your right princess. I'm a braggart. And I'm probably never going to change" Odd responds.

"You know what, keep it" Aelita pushes it to Odd.

"You mean it?"

"Yes. I was trying to prove a point. You were in complete denial the other day. Now your admitting to it."

"So?"

"So, I was right. You are a complete braggart."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. I'm a bragger, and I love it!"

If Odd were to ever change, it would have to be for a girl, or a complete miracle.

A.N. – And with this, we complete our first replica destruction! Sorry for the delay on this. I meant to get this out yesterday, but the new IFSCL 4.2X got released and I kind got wrapped up in that last night for two hours. I highly recommend checking it out. It's a really amazing game and gives it Jeremy's perspective behind the supercomputer, rather then in Lyoko. Next time we'll be halfway through season 4 and things are only gonna get better.
