Morning is usually a peaceful moment. Everyone's sleeping and some birds are singing, and the three members of the Mystery Trios were sleeping peacefully in their beds. However, out of nowhere, the young wizard's alarm clock started to ring. After about 2 minutes, and being licked by his cat, he woke up.
"Good morning, Mr. Starry Night" said Finn, finally waking up. As soon as he did it, he went to the bathroom.
When he looked at the mirror, he seemed a little bit surprised. His hair was incredibly messy.
"Time to fix this!" said the young sorcerer, grabbing a comb and combing his hair. After he finished it, he combed his cat.
"Time to start the day!" said the wizard boy, with an air of optimism. However, as he looked around the bathroom, he noticed it was incredibly disorganized.
"I think we should take care of this first" said Finn, pointing to the mess in the bathroom. He summoned cleaning supplies and started to do the cleaning.
As he finished it, the young sorcerer quickly went to the kitchen. He would cook them all a breakfast. Cooking was something pretty usual for Finn, and he was great at it. After all, it was similar to making potions.
He wanted to do it for them because he wanted to show how thankful he was for them letting him live in their house.
"Mr. Starry Night, time for pancakes" said the wizard boy, asking his pet for help. They always did that together, the cat would bring him the ingredients, and the young sorcerer would take care of the rest.
"And let's not forget my tea" said Finn, using his powers to prepare his tea simultaneously. His mother was from England, so he needed at least one cup of tea for day.
Some minutes later, Dipper and Mabel woke up and they were surprised by some changes.
"Did you see the bathroom, that place had never been cleaner!" said the girl with braces.
"I would say Grunkle Stan hired a maid, but that's almost impossible. He would never spend money with this" said the boy with the cap. As they continued to walk, they saw the wizard boy with a plate of pancakes with maple syrup in one hand. On the table behind them were two more pancake dishes, each accompanied by a mug.
"Hi guys, good morning. I made pancakes for breakfast!" said the young wizard.
"Pancakes!" Shouted the cheerful girl, running to eat the pancakes.
"Finn, where you the one who cleaned the bathroom?" asked the boy with the cap.
"Yeah, it was me. That place sure needed it" Finn said.
"Finn don't get me wrong, I am thankful for all of your favors, but you don't need to do this all, dude." said Dipper.
"Yeah, you are our guest!" said Mabel.
"It's okay, I am used to it. Besides, I love helping" said the wizard boy, with a warm smile.
After a few minutes, the cheerful girl had finished eating.
"Finn, those were the best pancakes I've ever had. Do you have any secret ingredient?" Mabel asked.
"Just love and a little magic. Glad you guys liked it" Finn replied.
Suddenly, the young sorcerer took a quick glance at the kitchen's clock, to see what time it was.
"Well, I got to go. I got a quest to do," said Finn, leaving the other two intrigued.
"Why? Is it something mystical?" asked Dipper.
"Kind of. It's just that a cloud island has arrived in town" answered the wizard boy.
"A cloud island, wow!" said the girl with braces, apparently excited about it. "What is a cloud island?" she quickly asked her brother, whispering.
"I think I've seen something like this in the journal. Wait a minute... I found it" said Dipper, flipping through the journal. "It is saying here that the cloud islands are places where leprechauns hide their pots with gold coins!" said the boy in the cap, excited by what he read.
"Yes, it is true. It is rare for one to appear, so I will take advantage of the fact that there is one near the city to explore it. Since I want to buy my personal stuff and to stop depending on your great uncle" answered the young sorcerer.
"Can we come?! This girl has been interested in a human-sized hamster ball for a long time," said the girl with braces.
"And with my part, I can finally hire a team to investigate this city! They will finally listen to me when I say that Gravity Falls is not a normal place!" said the boy with a cap.
"Oh, okay. Just give me a second to talk to Mr. Starry Night, okay?" asked the young sorcerer, picking up his cat to talk in a more private corner of the house.
"Did you hear that, Mr. Starry Night? It's my chance to make them my friends! But this quest needs to be perfect. Let's show them what we can do" said Finn to his cat. His cat nodded, happy for the owner's chance of having new friends.
"Alright, then let's get ready and go!" said Finn to his possible new friends. At that moment, the kids grunkle entered the room.
"Oh, Mr. Pines, the three of us are going out today. So, I need you not to go into that little house, that I made with a part of the abandoned house I was living, close to the Mystery Shack. But in case anything happens, I have a list of things to do if some powerful and magical artifact gets out of hand" asked the young sorcerer. The twins' grunkle would normally say no, but when he saw that he could make money from these objects, he changed his mind.
"Don't worry, I'll be very careful" said Mr. Pines, with a very scary smile.
"Then let's go get that hamster ball!" said the girl with braces.
"So, what's the plan to find the island?" asked Dipper.
"Come on, bro-bro, it's obvious. We just need to find a rainbow!" said Mabel. Her brother sighed.
"Mabel, this is not a fairy tale" said the boy in a cap.
"Sorry, Dipper, but I think Finn is the only one that can disagree with me" said the girl with a sweater.
"Actually, Dipper is right, Mabel. That's not how it works" said the wizard boy. The girl sighed in disappointment.
"Doing it is quite easy, to be honest, since it's in plain sight" said the young sorcerer, looking up in the sky. The two other kids did the same, and suddenly saw a cloud that was way bigger than normal.
"Now, we just need to go to a hill close to that place" said Finn, looking for the perfect place to do it.
"Like that one!" said Mabel, full of enthusiasm, pointing to a perfect hill.
"Well, yes. That's a good example. Huh, weird" said the wizard boy.
"Now, we just need to get there" said the young sorcerer.
"The last to get there is a rotten egg!" said the girl with a sweater, starting to run.
"Oh, no, you won't win this time" said Dipper, giggling a little. Finn felt a little bit confused at first.
"Do you think we should, you know… do it too?" asked the wizard boy, receiving a nod from his pet.
"Okay, then" said the young sorcerer, putting the cat on his backpack. "Hold on tight. Ieiunium tonitrua" he continued, covering himself in a blue aura, and moving faster than normal.
The Pine Twins continued to run to the hill. "I am gonna get there first" said Mabel.
"In your dreams" said Dipper, trying to surpass his sister. Suddenly, when the two last expected, they saw a blue light surpassing both.
"Wow" both said, when they saw the light's incredible speed. After running a little bit more, they all arrived at the place.
"And it seems that I won" said Finn, removing his aura.
"Hey, that's cheating" said the girl with a sweater, in a playful tone.
"Oh, sorry, I think I just got a little bit too excited" said the wizard boy, feeling a little embarrassed.
"Don't worry about that. It's just a joke" said Mabel, giving him a playful punch in his arm.
"Yeah dude. That was really cool," said Dipper.
"Cool?" whispered the young sorcerer to himself. Suddenly, he remembered about the quest and finding the treasure to win the twins' friendship. He quickly went back on focusing on the mission and started to look for something.
"And there it is! The cloud stairs. They will lead as exactly to where we need to" said Finn, pointing to a bunch of sparse clouds that seemed impossible to reach.
"How are we going to get there. Do you have any more tricks?" asked the girl with a sweater.
"Well, this time, it's a trick from Mr. Starry Night" said the wizard boy, putting his cat in the ground. The twins exchanged a confused glance.
The cat, after finding a place that was not that close from the trio, started to focus some magic and grow. When he finished the process, he was a lot bigger than before. The young sorcerer rode on him, like he was a horse.
"Don't worry, it's safe" said Finn, inviting the twins to do the same. The two joined their friend.
"Time to go Mr. Starry Night!" said the wizard boy. When the cat heard his instructions, he started to jump on each one of the clouds.
"This is awesome!" said Mabel, enjoying the ride. The young sorcerer gave a small smile seeing that his friends were enjoying hanging out with him.
Meanwhile, in the Mystery Shack, Mr. Pines was searching the small house where the wizard boy kept his magic objects.
"Mr. Pines, are you sure this is a good idea? These objects appear to be dangerous" asked Soos, who was assisting the owner of the Mystery Shack.
"Nonsense. They're just fake objects. But this cauldron, if well painted, can be quite successful at Summerween" said Mr. Pines, trying to remove the cauldron from the young sorcerer from the small house. However, when he tried to get him out of the place, he went back to the place. He tried to do this a few times, but whenever he did, he kept coming back, hitting his face.
"Mr. Pines, here on Finn's sheet it is written that the cauldron is enchanted to always stay in place," said the handyman.
"That. Is. Nonsense" said the owner of the Mystery Shack, being hit a few more times by the cauldron, causing him to get tired and lie down on the floor.
"Lucky for us that Finn enchanted the cauldron in order not to hurt to the point of killing a person, as written here. Isn't it, Mr. Pines?" asked Soos.
"Very lucky" said Mr. Pines with irony, lying on the floor.
The Mystery Trio finally arrived at the cloud island, but their landing was not exactly perfect. Mr. Starry Night ended up stumbling on a cloud, and they were all covered up in clouds.
"Is everyone okay?" asked Finn, worried about the twins.
"Yeah, don't worry. Just a bit of cloud in my face. And you, Mabel?" asked Dipper, not receiving any answer from his sister.
"Mabel?" asked the boy with a cap, once more, starting to worry about his sister.
"What Mabel? Here, there only is Old Man McGucket" said Mabel, with a beard made of clouds.
"Very funny, Mabel" said Dipper, with a slightly ironic voice.
"Oh, come on, bro-bro. Please, just try it" said the girl with a sweater. The boy with a cap gave in to his sister's request and used some clouds to make his hair bigger.
"And I am Gideon, the one that can guess any number you think about" said Dipper, pretending to be Gideon. The girl with a sweater thought it was a little bit funny but was slightly uncomfortable with the memory of this boy.
"Your turn, Finn," said Mabel. The wizard boy hesitated for a while but decided to join the joke.
"It's money time! Do you want some merch, young man?" said the young sorcerer, using the cloud to make Stan's hat. The other two laughed at their grunkles imitation.
"This one was perfect" said the girl with a sweater. Finn smiled seeing the twins' happiness. But, once more, he decided to go back to the mission. This time, however, his cat gave him a questioning look.
The wizard boy didn't understand exactly why the cat seemed confused. The plan was proving to the twins he is good enough to be their friend, and the only way to do this was finding the treasure, right?
As the trio continued to walk through the island, they ended up finding a temple.
"According to what I have seen about these islands, this temple is part of the path to the treasure. I just need to open this door," said the young sorcerer, grabbing his spell book from his backpack.
"Clavis leporem" said the wizard boy, using a spell on the door, causing it to open magically. Seeing that there was no longer a barrier that prevented them from proceeding, the three entered the temple.
As they entered the temple, they found a long hall. Dipper took the chance that they would have a lot of time to talk to ask the young sorcerer some questions.
"Finn, I know this might not be appropriate, but do you mind answering some questions?" asked the boy with a cap.
"Don't worry, Dipper. I don't mind" answered the wizard boy. Dipper grinned at the boy's answer, immediately grabbing his book.
"Okay. First, how do you do magic?" asked the boy with a cap.
"Well, we wizards have the ability of absorbing magic from natural forces and storing them in our souls and body. In my case, I take my magic from the Moon" answered the young sorcerer.
"But we have seen you using magic at day. How is it possible?" asked Mabel.
"Well, even though you guys don't see it, the Moon is still there, and I am able of absorbing it's magic" answered Finn.
"And how did you learn all that? Did you learn this all by yourself? Can you teach us?" asked Dipper.
"Sorry, Dipper, but being a wizard is something you need to be born as. For example, my mother was a witch, reason why I am a wizard" answered the wizard boy.
"Actually, it was my mom who taught me magic," said the young sorcerer.
"This is awesome" said the boy with a cap, writing down all information his friend was saying.
"But didn't you run away because your family didn't accept you wanted to be a wizard?" said the girl with a sweater.
"Oh, not my mother. She supported my decision. But, after she… left the world, the situation got complicated to me" answered Finn.
"What do you mean by… Oh, now I get it" said Mabel, leaving the atmosphere covered in an awkward silence.
As they continued to walk, they reached the end of the hallway. There was a door right in front of him.
"Clavis leporem" said the wizard boy, trying to open this door just like the last one. However, this time, it didn't work. Then, they looked at some buttons that were in the wall the was close to the door.
"It seems we will need to use these buttons to open this door. But don't worry, guys, I can fix this alone" said the young sorcerer, approaching the buttons to decode the sequence.
Once more, his cat gave him a questioning, but this time, he wasn't alone, Dipper and Mabel joined him.
"Are you sure you don't want help?" asked the boy with cap.
"Yeah, I can solve his" said Finn, focusing on the buttons, determined to solve the problem. The twins knew that he probably wouldn't be able of doing it alone, so they went to the other side to the hallway to see what the journal had about the island.
"Okay, according to these pages, leprechauns usually use hieroglyphs in their buildings. But none of these symbols seem to be hieroglyphs" said Dipper, looking at the buttons.
"Maybe, we should look at them from a different angle" said Mabel, laying in the ground, and looking at them from an upside-down perspective. Her brother did the same, and he noticed that his sister was right. He quickly approached the buttons once more and pressed the one related to an opening. The door, then, finally opened.
"Oh, you guys found out the answer" said the wizard boy, embarrassed for not being able to help.
"We should get going, then, right?" asked the young sorcerer, walking through the door. The twins exchanged glances but followed their friend.
Now that Mr. Pines was somewhat recovered, he decided that he would take the young wizard's potions.
"That cauldron was a bad choice, but I can sell these potions saying they are old medicines" said the owner of the Mystery Shack.
"But, Mr. Pines, Finn left in the instructions to not touch the potions, he is saying here that it can cause major body changes or something like that" said Soos.
"This is just a lie. It's just water with dye" said the owner of the Mystery Shack, giving the bottle a little shake.
"Mr. Pines watch out! Here's saying not to shake the bottle, otherwise horrible things will happen!" said the handyman, concerned.
"Why? What will happen if I shake this little bottle here?" asked Mr. Pines, with a tone of irony, shaking the bottle, causing it to explode.
"Mr. Pines!" said Soos, still concerned.
"Stay calm, Soos. It's okay" said the owner of the Mystery Shack. However, when he noticed that there was a snake tail, he shouted.
"Mr. Pines, don't worry, one of those bottles should bring you back to normal" said the handyman, throwing a set of bottles at Mr. Pines, but instead of helping, he was just giving him even more animal parts.
"There must be something in those notes about that. Ah, look, Mr. Pines. These potions are temporary. In a little while, they will lose their effect" said Soos.
The owner of the Mystery Shack wanted to sigh, but he couldn't get through the new parts of his body and ended up making a dolphin noise.
Back to the quest, the trio managed to leave the temple, and were getting closer and closer to the prize, and the twins were sure that something was wrong with Finn.
"Bro-bro, did you notice that Finn is acting a little bit… weird" whispered Mabel to her brother.
"I did, but I can't understand why? It seems he felt embarrassed by not being able to help us," said Dipper.
"But why? What's the problem with letting others help?' asked the girl with a sweater. Her brother sighed.
"Maybe, he is just too proud to do it," said the boy with a cap.
Meanwhile, the wizard boy was also whispering to his cat.
"It's all going wrong, Mr. Starry Night. I was supposed to show what I can do, but I couldn't even decode a mural. They probably think I am useless" said the young sorcerer, face palming.
"Meow" his cat said, on a reprimanding tone.
"I just want them to like me," said Finn. As they continued to walk, they felt a cold wind coming from behind.
"Did you guys also feel that?" asked Mabel, receiving nods as answer. They turned back to see what it was. They ended up seeing part of the island's cloud joining and forming a monster and screamed in fear.
"He's a tornado monster, he's the guardian of the island! The only way to defeat him is to expel him from this island" said the wizard boy.
"Time for action!" said the girl with the sweater, preparing for battle.
"No, it's safer if you guys stay here. Let me handle this" said the young sorcerer. Before any of the two could protest, however, Finn went to fight with the monster alone, with his cat joining him.
"We can't let him do this alone!" said Mabel.
"Let me just think about a plan," said Dipper. As he tried to think about something, her started to walk away.
However, during his planning, he almost fell off the cloud island when he stepped on a gray cloud part, which, when stepped on, turned into water, and fell into the town.
Seeing that there was a corner of the island that was all formed by this gray part, the boy in the hat had an idea.
"Mabel, I need your help to drag that monster into here. Can you do that?" asked the boy with a cap.
"You can bet I can, bro-bro!" said the girl with a sweater, approaching the battle.
"Congelatio!" said the wizard boy, casting a ice spell at the monster, freezing his arm. But the monster let his frozen arm fall, and made a new one with more clouds.
The young sorcerer didn't have much more ideas of what to do, but then, Mabel ended up jumping on the monster's neck, and started to punch him.
"Take that, tornado guy!" said the girl with a sweater, using her attacks to guide him to the place her brother asked her too.
"Mabel, wait!" said Finn, trying to help his friend. However, she didn't listen, and continued her plan. When they arrived at the key part, she jumped of the monster, and Dipper made him trip.
The tornado monster stepped on the area of gray clouds, that turned into water and made the monster fall.
"Mystery Twins!" said the twins, fist bumping.
"Wait, I thought you didn't like the name," said Mabel.
"It started to grow on me," said Dipper. Finn felt sad at watching the scene. He was sure the mission would have been a complete failure if they didn't have a treasure at the end.
Mr. Pines, after returning to normal, was fed up with the magical objects of the young sorcerer, in fact, he was irritated even with Finn himself, and, after he and his nibblings returned, the wizard boy would be expelled from the house.
"I'll put that magician out of my house as soon as they get back" said the owner of the Mystery Shack.
"But, Mr. Pines, look at his last notes" said Soos, trying to convince the boss not to do this.
"What do they have now?!" asked Mr. Pines, quite irritated by the notes. The handyman then handed over the sheet for the owner of the Mystery Shack to read.
The note said: Dear Mr. Pines, I know that all this magic must be new and complicated for you, but I am grateful for you letting me spend the summer on your house. Where I come from, people usually judge me, and it's hard for me to feel welcome, sometimes even on my own house. So, it's nice feeling welcome.
The words on the sheet made the owner of the Mystery Shack move a little, but he didn't let the tears fall.
"That boy may be a little bit chaotic and have weird powers, but he has a good heart and needs us. He can stay" said Mr. Pines
Finn, Dipper, Mabel and Mr. Starry Night had finally arrived at the scene. When they saw the pot, they ran towards it, and the three put their hands on the lid to be able to open it.
"Are you ready? One" said the boy wizard.
"Two" said the boy in the cap.
"Three!" said the girl in the sweater. When they opened it, however, they were surprised, because there was no gold, but cookies.
"Cookies?" Asked Dipper.
"I don't understand, how is that possible?" asked the young wizard. At that moment, a flock of creatures that were half leprechaun half unicorn appeared.
"Oh no. This is not a leprechaun cloud island. It's a cloud island of leprecorns" Finn said, noting his mistake.
"Lepre what?" Mabel asked.
"I read about them in the diary. Leprecorns are half leprechaun and half unicorn creatures. And they have cookie pots instead of gold pots" replied Dipper.
"At least we have cookies" said the girl in the sweater. However, one of the leprecorns scratched his beard. When he did, some cookies fell from there, revealing how the cookies were made. This revelation disgusted the three friends.
On their way back to the Shack, the wizard boy was feeling even worse than before.
"I'm sorry, guys. I made us have this life-threatening adventure for nothing," said Finn.
"Ah, Finn, it isn't true. I had a lot of fun" said Mabel.
"And we got to explore and ancient building" said Dipper.
"But I was not able of doing much, was I?" asked the wizard boy.
"And what's the problem with that?" asked the boy with a cap.
"It's just that…" said the young sorcerer, pausing to sigh.
"I wanted to prove to you two that I was useful enough, so that I could be your friend. I never had friends before, so, I thought that I could use this quest to show you two what I can do. To show that I am powerful, that I could help you guys win things. But I guess I am not good enough to this" said Finn. The girl with a sweater, bursting into laughter.
"Finn, being friends is not about 'winning things' and 'earn treasure'. It's about having fun. Like when we raced, or played with the clouds" said Mabel, putting her arm on his shoulder.
"It's okay if you can't do things alone. Friends are here to help you" said Dipper.
"So, this means we are friends?" asked the wizard boy.
"Of course! We have been friends since we let you live with us!" said the girl with sweater, giving her friend a hug. The boy with cap joined his sister soon after.
At night, the three have decided to watch the ducktetive marathon on the TV.
Mabel and Dipper were on the sofa, and Mr. Starry Night was lying on the carpet.
"And the popcorn is ready, everyone!" said Finn, arriving at the room, with a bowl of popcorn for each one. He sat down in the middle of the twins, with his cat, climbing on the sofa, and laying next to his owner.
"I am so thrilled about today's episode. It's said that the show will have a new character. A magical owl that has a lot of daddy issues and even uncle issues. I am excited about this character," said Mabel.
"Mabel, that doesn't sound that creative," said Dipper.
"It doesn't mean it will be bad, though" said the girl with a sweater.
"You have a point" said the boy with a cap. The wizard boy was looking to the other three that were in the room with a smile. He was happy that he had such cool friends.
He never had human friends before, since his only friend was Mr. Starry and now, he made two in a day. He felt really happy about it.
Meanwhile, Stan was looking at the three kids from afar. The young sorcerer's situation reminded him on his own. Rejected by his family and needing to find a place to fit in. Before he could be seen by any of the three, however, he left the place.
