AN: This story will take some inspiration from Fairy Tail, but it is not a Fairy Tail crossover.

Earth. Fire. Air. Water. When I was a boy, my father, Avatar Aang, told me the story of how he and his friends heroically ended the Hundred Year War. One of his friends however, was a very unique individual unlike any my father had ever seen. A boy born from the Northern Water Tribe the same year as Avatar Kuruk was cursed by the Spirit known as Ankhseram and became something unlike the world had seen.

The boy had not only become immortal due to his curse but was also given powers beyond anything the Avatar could ever hope to achieve. His powers were dubbed the 'Black Arts' and could only be used by him. This boy became an enigma during the Hundred Year War, decimating entire Fire Nation battalions with nothing more than a flick of his finger. His aura and power caused everything to shrivel and die around him as he walked the Earth. His name is Tyrin.

Avatar Aang, Fire Lord Zuko, and Tyrin transformed the Fire Nation colonies into the United Republic of Nations, a society where benders and nonbenders from all over the world could live and thrive together in peace and harmony. They named the capital of this great land Republic City. Avatar Aang accomplished many remarkable things in his life, but sadly, his time in this world came to an end. And like the cycle of the seasons, the cycle of the Avatar began anew."

This is the Legend of The Curse One and the Avatar.

Southern Water Tribe, South Pole, 170 AG

The Southern Water Tribe of the South Pole. For years, this place had always been seen as the baby brother to its northern counterpart, especially during the Hundred Year War when the Southern Raiders would attack the Tribe and would either imprison or kill their water bending captives. However when Avatar Aang defeated Ozai and began rebuilding the South, the Southern Tribe had gained an abundance of prosperity and even wealth especially with the help of Aang, Fire Lord Zuko and a certain someone.

If we take a closer look outside the Tribe, we shall see that certain someone who has been around for over two hundred years. A man who has seen empires fall, Avatars die, and even witnessed the genocide of the Airbenders. This man is a brown skin individual wearing a sleeveless gray jacket, a long sleeve black shirt, black pants and black boots. His hair was black and had a spiky in-depth fashion. He is also carrying a satchel as well. This is Tyrin, the one hundred and ninety two year old immortal who was cursed. This is his story.

...

Tyrin let out an icy sigh as he walked closer and closer towards the White Lotus Compound in the Southern Water Tribe. It had been years since the immortal had even stepped foot near this place, more specifically since the day Aang passed away and the new Avatar was born. He had stayed with Katara and her daughter during most of their grieving process but soon left afterwards. He hadn't set foot back in this place since then.

He could remember the pained expression that adorned Katara's face when he told her he was leaving. Tyrin, originally, expected the master waterbender to attack in a fit of sadness and rage at him but the girl had learned since the days of the war.

"I do wonder how she has been though. I know Katara isn't exactly one too hold grudges anymore but then again, things could change"

After walking through another pile of snow and ice, Tyrin finally ended up at the Lotus Compound. The building itself hadn't changed in years. It still looked like the horrible drawing Sokka had made that he called the blueprint of it, but it looked more improved than he remembered it being. Tyrin smiled lightly as he remembered that the non-bender's blueprints caused not only Zuko to look at him strangely and with a sense of nostalgia, but it also caused Aang's youngest son to see just how horrible is uncle was a drawing.

Walking towards the gigantic icy doors of the compound, Tyrin was intercepted by two Lotus sentries.

"Halt! Who dares try to enter the Southern Water Tribe White Lotus Compound!?" The sentry all but yelled, trying to intimidate Tyrin.

Tyrin as cool and collected as always simply replied. "Tell Master Katara that the Cursed One has returned!"

The sentry looked back at his other brother in arms with a shocked and alarmed look before running off. Minutes later, the gigantic doors opened, revealing a brown skin girl with wrinkles and gray hair loopies. She was wearing a blue parka with white fur around it. Her blue eyes shined brightly despite the fact that it was snowing. That is Katara, the widowed wife of Avatar Aang and Tyrin's old friend, literally. Katara's eyes widened as she stepped out of the compound's doors and walked closer to Tyrin.

The immortal himself just smiled lightly. "It's been a long time hasn't it, old friend."

Katara smiled brightly and hugged Tyrin, who returned the gesture with a tight hug of his own.

"It has been a long time." Katara said knowingly into his shoulder. "It especially for someone who is immortal." She teased.

Tyrin smiled at her joke before letting themselves out of their hug. Katara guided him into the interior of the compound where he could see The Grand Lotus and some of his sentries speaking with one another along with a couple of injured firebenders as well.

She then guided him into the building the sentries were standing at and offered him a seat, which he gratefully took. The two of them then decided to do some small talk.

"How long has it been since we have been in the same room?" Katara asked.

Tyrin let out a sad sigh himself. "Not since Aang's death, old friend." For Katara, it may have felt like a couple of years but for Tyrin, it felt like an eternity as every day since his curse began, they all felt the same.

"Speaking of Avatars, where is the new one. What's her name again? Korta? Korina?"

Katara smiled lightly at the man in front of her. Tyrin always seemed to have a hard time remembering people's names. She didn't blame him of course as he has been alive for years.

"Her name is Korra and she is currently taking her Polar Bear Dog out for a run. She just recently completed her firebending test and will soon start learning airbending with Tenzin." Katara stated proudly.

Tyrin was quite intrigued with what he had just heard. Korra was already more proficient when it came to Bending unlike Aang who struggled to learn Earthbending and Firebending. To hear that she had already mastered all but one element was definitely something to be proud of and to be taught by the son of Aang was something to brag about as well. After all, there aren't too many Avatars who learn the Bending Arts that efficiently.

"Well I'm certainly glad to hear that. It seems like she'll make a fine Avatar someday." Tyrin responded.

"If she could not be so stubborn, then she would already be one." Katara chuckled.

"Well I remember Kyoshi being quite stubborn and I believe your husband was also stubborn as well, especially when it came too you." Tyrin teased causing a blush to appear on his old friend's cheeks.

"You know...you never did tell me why you left." Katara said quietly after her blush went down.

Tyrin sighed loudly and rubbed a hand through his spiky black hair. Truth be told, Tyrin left because he wanted to grieve on his own. Being alive since the days of Avatar Kuruk and watching countless people that you care about die takes a toll on someone, especially someone like him. Tyrin had been there for almost every Avatars' death except for Kuruk's. Plus Tyrin's powers do respond to his emotions and he didn't want too accidentally destroy or kill someone.

"I wanted to be alone Katara..." Tyrin started to say. "I needed to grieve on my own. Aang was a good friend despite the fact that our relationship started off rocky."

Katara smiled fondly. "Yes I remember the day that we all first met you, back in the Swamp. You almost attacked us with your powers by accident." She then sighed sadly. "We didn't know it back then but you were in so much pain and alone."

Katara then turned her head back towards Tyrin. She reached out to his hand and held it firmly. "You're not alone anymore Tyrin. Remember that."

Tyrin smirked and grabbed her hand as well. "Duly noted, Katara."

"KATARA! I'm back!" A loud voice called. The two old friends looked at each other and chuckled before walking out of the building they were in. Once they were outside, Tyrin saw a brown skin girl with big blue eyes, hair tied into a ponytail, wearing a blue parka similar to Katara's.

"Welcome back Korra." Katara smiled brightly at her waterbending student. "How was your ride?"

"It was refreshing. It was exactly what I needed after absolutely smashing my Firebending test." Korra beamed with pride as she spoke.

"That's wonderful. Now there's someone I want you too meet." She then turned towards Tyrin. "This is Tyrin. I'm sure you've heard of him from the stories I told you when you were little."

Korra looked over at the man standing next to Katara with an wide eyed expression. This was the Tyrin she spoke of? The man who was supposedly cursed by a Spirit and became immortal? The one who helped Aang defeat Ozai and was the one who killed Ozai after Aang didn't? This man didn't look any older than she did.

"It's finally nice too meet you, Avatar Korra." Tyrin bowed in respect which Korra did as well.

"Yeah...I-it's nice to meet you too." Korra said. She then went on to ask "Is it really true that you were cursed by a Spirit and became immortal?"

"Korra!"

"What!? You can't blame me for asking. The stories you told me about him date back to before my time!"

Tyrin simply chuckled at the girl's bluntness. It seems that Korra really did get straight to the point and charge ahead without a care in the world.

"For your information, yes I was cursed by a Spirit and yes, I am immortal." Tyrin responded. Korea's eyes widened even further than they should've been physically able to before Katara coughed into her hand.

"Now that the introductions are out of the way, Korra I would like for you too help the sentries prepare for Tenzin's arrival later today." The Avatar nodded her head but not before taking once last glance at Tyrin and walked off in the other direction.

"So what do you need me to do?" Tyrin asked.

"Nothing at all old friend." Katara smiled. "Feel free to do whatever you please while you stay here."

She walked off in the direction Korra walked leaving the immortal man by his loathsome. He sat and stared at Katara's disappearing figure before letting out a sigh and walking out of the compound, into the icy abyss. He decided that it was time to visit some old friends of his.

...

Tyrin walked through the icy tundra once again, this time taking a different route towards another destination. The cursed man walked towards an open area that somehow wasn't affected by the light snow that was befalling the South. He then walked up towards five rock structures that were side by side each other. Each structure had rocks around it in a circular fashion with one giant rock sitting in the middle of it. These are the graves that the Southern Tribe makes for any of its deceased members. Tyrin stood right in front of all four graves and looked at them sadly.

"It's been a long time...hasn't it?" Tyrin whispered sadly as he looked at the graves before speaking again. "Kya, Kanna, Hakoda, Sokka...Aang." Tyrin's voice almost cracked as he uttered the names of the two people who became his closest friends in the past seventy years.

"I'm sorry I haven't been here in a very long time...and I'm sorry I haven't visited sooner." He whispered again, the tone of his voice laced with emotion. He could feel his aura quietly trying to stir up around him. "Katara and I miss you guys very much, especially you two numb nuts." He then turned to look at Sokka's grave. "Don't worry about Suki, Sokka. I've been watching over her. She's a tough old bat, but she's doing good."

Tyrin then turned to Aang's grave. "And don't you worry about Katara or the new Avatar, old friend. I'm not going to break the promise I made to you all those years ago. I will make sure that this Avatar will live in an era of peace." Tyrin finished off his statement with a firm nod of his head and continued to stare at his deceased friends graves for what felt like an eternity.

"I thought I might find you here."

The immortal Northern Tribesman whirled around to see Katara smiling at him. "I thought you were helping Korra prepare for Tenzin's arrival?" He said.

"Korra finished everything else along with the Grand Lotus." Katara said as she walked up and stood side by side next to him. "When I came back to were I had left you, I had a feeling that you would be here."

The two surviving members of the original Team Avatar sat in silence as they stared at the five graves in front of them. Memories of all their trials and battles flashing through their minds and eyes. From Ozai's defeat to Azula's to finding Zuko's mother. So many members and so many great times.

"...I miss them so much" Katara whispered as she felt tears begin to appear in her eyes. Tyrin noticed this and gave her a side arm hug.

"Me too Katara. I miss them too." Tyrin whispered.
