Chapter 7
Sarah watched Chuck as he looked at his finger, then when he looked up at her, it felt right. Chuck pulled her into an embrace and kissed her softly. "Yes. I will marry us. But I don't have a ring for you?"
Sarah smiled. "I have this." As she admired the twist on the tie. Chuck took her hand. "It's just a twist tie?"
"It's more than that." As she looked at him.
Chuck rested his hands on her hips. "It's all the will we won't we that was thrown at us and what we chose to do about it. All the times that we wanted to be together and couldn't because someone or something was pulling us away. Just like this twist tie, its something that's simple but yet means the world to me. No it's not a ring but it doesn't matter, this shows us that we can finally be together. No more fighting, no more wondering no more looking over our shoulders. Sarah looked up at Chuck, her heart racing. "I love you."
"I love you too."
Chuck placed his lips gently over hers and waited till she stopped crying enough to kiss him back. Chuck liked this Sarah, this vulnerable Sarah that he was able to bring out of her. They headed up stairs kissing and embracing. Chuck laid Sarah down on the bed as the rain continued to fall outside with the odd lighting burst that shone a light on the painting. Chuck covered her with his body as they made love. It was like their first time with the added bonus that now they were engaged. Sarah pulled Chuck's body closer to hers as she felt his muscles move, his body moved into hers. His lips kissing her, his hands touching her and his fingers pressing into her flesh. Sarah ran her fingers through his curls which she loved, knowing that she'd be able to do this for the rest of her life.
Next morning
Sarah got up and headed to the bathroom as Chuck rolled over to find her side of the bed empty. "Sarah?"
Sarah peeked out from the bathroom. "What?"
Sarah saw him looking at his ring and came out holding her towel in her hand. She knelt beside him. "Good morning Mr. Walker to be."
"Good morning Mrs. Bartowski to be."
Sarah leaned in to kiss him. "Can't you stay?"
"No, and if I don't get moving, I am going to be late." Sarah got up from the bed and finished getting dress.
"Do you need your car today?"
"No, don't think so."
"Okay, I just got some running around to do and we groceries."
"Sounds good."
Chuck dropped Sarah off at work and drove down the street as he wanted to work on his next plan now that they were engaged. He also wanted to do it right so when he passed the jewelry store, he had to find a ring. He parked and walked in and greeted the older man. "You're that handsome man that has swept Ms. Walker off her feet?"
Chuck thought a hello was enough as he looked at the man. "How did you know that?"
"People talk and (he paused) Gladys told me."
"Ah darling Gladys. It took me awhile to win her back."
"But you did, otherwise you wouldn't be here."
"Right, but she asked me."
"She did?"
"Yes but she was so nervous, so we ended up asking each other. Corny but."
"No very romantic."
"Now I need a ring to give her." As he should him his ring.
"Simple but elegant." The older man looked at him.
"So what do you have in mind?"
"She's my world, she's mysterious and very beautiful."
The old man nodded. "Sophisticated but simple, I might have a ring in mind."
Chuck watched as a tray of rings were brought out and his eyes were drawn to them. Chuck picked up a few and the ones he liked to see on her finger he made a little pile. Then he ended up putting them back, looking at another row of rings. Chuck ended up laying out the five rings he liked and looked at them.
He wanted it to be the perfect ring. Not too pricey that he have to take out a loan but not too cheap either. He put back three and stared at the two that remained.
The old man looked at him. "Don't look at it as a ring, look at it as something that when she sees it. It reminds her of what you two have gone through to get here and that the ring is a symbol of that love."
Chuck looked up. "Right."
"I am guessing that you two haven't always been together, Gladys told me."
"No we were on and off for while then there were others. Then I chose the job over us."
"Oh boy."
"I know."
Chuck looked at the two rings. "Take a picture of these two and think about it and come back in a few days."
With defeat Chuck answered. "Yeah, you're right."
Chuck took a picture and said goodbye. He got some groceries headed home and walked into the back yard.
It was a quaint yard with a grassy area that led from the back door. He looked up at the steps and got an idea. He grabbed some paper from inside and started figuring out a plan by making her a deck and fire pit area with a hot tub in the corner by the garage. He got his idea down on paper and went in to make supper and then go and pick Sarah up.
The next few days Chuck drove Sarah to work taking her car to get the building materials and other items he'd need from the lumber store. He walked in and planned to have sand, pea gravel, landscaping blocks, a decking kit delivered and a hot tub ordered.
The clerk rung up the order. "Are you sure you don't need help?"
"No, thanks, just deliver it please."
Chuck went home and started clearing the back yard. He knew Sarah preferred to use the front and hadn't cared about what was going on in the backyard. He hoped that this time she wouldn't want to look outside.
He got the yard cleared and now he had to wait till his order arrived.
He drove back to the store and walked in as Sarah looked up and smiled. He came up to her and gave her a quick kiss. "You busy?"
"Not for you." Sneaking another kiss. "What's up?"
"Thought maybe lunch?"
"Sure but it will have to be a quick lunch. I have a shipment coming in and an order to make some flower arrangements for a 50th wedding anniversary."
Chuck looked up. "So you will be busy, at least for the next few days?"
Chuck smiled inwardly. 'Good that will give me time to get the yard ready.'
They went for lunch and Chuck walked her back. He saw that the truck had arrived. He stayed to help. "You don't have to stay?"
"I want to and the old ladies who like to walk the sidewalk like me flexing my muscles."
Sarah ran her hand down his arm. "Well their not the only ones."
"Well. Ms. Walker."
Chuck gave her his bed room eye look. She bit her lip slightly. Chuck unloaded the boxes and flowers and set them inside the fridge. They smelled amazing. He even saw gardenias and he remembered giving her a bouquet full years ago. Chuck headed to the back door and lock it walking back into the middle of the store, but didn't see Sarah. He headed to her office and saw her sitting on her desk. "What about your customers?"
"I haven't flipped the be back sign over yet."
"Oh?"
"Come here." Chuck obliged and walked over to her. "I'm a bit sweaty."
"I don't care." He kissed her softly and she could taste the saltiness of his lips. She slid his shirt over his head as she stared at his chest. Every time it made her excited. Their lips met and their hands touching their bodies. Chuck picked her up and carried her to an arm chair she had in the corner. "Just a little more romantic than doing it on the desk."
Chuck slipped her top off as she did the rest. Sarah sat down on his lap. "It beats the desk for sure."
They were in no rush, and lately they took advantage of being together as much as they could.
Chuck grabbed Sarah's top and gave it to her as he got dressed. "So Mr. Walker what are you going to do this afternoon?"
Chuck looked at her. "Going home maybe mow the lawn? When will you be home?" "Who knows."
"Well don't over do it."
Sarah kissed him as he walked to the front of the store. Sarah flipped the sign over.
"Love you."
"Love you too."
Chuck walked home leaving the car for Sarah and waited the building materials to arrive.
Chuck finished up raking the yard and saw the first truck driving up the back. They unloaded the sand just shy of the garage. Chuck pushed out the wheel barrow and started shovelling the sand into it. He pushed the first load to the far corner and kept going till the sand was all gone. He smoothed out the sand and looked up hearing another truck. This time it was the landscaping blocks. He watched as the fork lift moved the pallets of stone. Chuck signed for it. The young man turned to him, nodded and drove off. "The hot tub will be here in a few days."
"Sounds good." Chuck nodded. Now he had a couple days to get this done. It was getting late and he was losing light. He looked at the clock and he knew that Sarah would be coming home soon, but he called her just to make sure.
He got off the phone and had just enough time to make supper and keep her away from the back yard.
The next day Chuck got up when Sara left and he headed outside and started to lay down the blocks. The gray looking block were laid in a brick pattern towards the garage. He kept some grass near the other side where he planned to build a deck to house the hot tub. Chuck laid the last block then used the other blocks he bought to make a spot for the fire pit. He bought a kit that all he had to do was put it together. He finally got to the deck when he heard a voice. He looked up hoping that it wasn't Sarah. "Hey Chuck."
Chuck looked up. "Hey Matthew."
Matthew walked in from the back gate. "Wow, you have been busy. Looks great."
"Thanks."
Matthew walked over as Chuck was measuring the lumber for the deck.
"A deck?"
"Yeah, I got Sarah a hot tub and it is going to go in here. So I want to build a deck with some walls for privacy and posts for lights."
"You need a hand?"
Chuck looked up. "That would be great."
Matthew and Chuck worked on the deck for the next day quitting because Sarah had come home. But resumed early the next morning. The hot tub arrived and Chuck, Matthew and a friend of Matthews named Eric came by to help with the hot tub. The three assembled the hot tub and inserted the decking around it. Chuck got the posts up as Eric put up the lights that cascaded towards the fire pit. Chuck grabbed a pail of sand and tossed it over the blocks sweeping the sand into the spaces between the rocks. Matthew grabbed the garbage and the three stared at their handy work.
"Thanks guys, I wouldn't have gotten this done without your help."
Chuck walked inside and came out with a case of beer and a gift card. Chuck walked over to Matthew and Eric. "A small token of appreciation."
Chuck handed Eric a case of beer and gave Matthew the gift card.
Sarah drove up and saw Matthew she assumed and another guy walking out of her backyard. Instinctively her spy senses kicked in as she called out to Chuck. Chuck ran to the front.
"Hey babe, your home?"
"Chuck what are you doing?"
"Nothing."
"Chuck." She got that look. "Ok don't freak out."
"What have you been up to and why was Matthew and…"
"Eric."
"Why were Matthew and Eric here?"
"They helped me so I paid them in beer, but Matthew doesn't drink."
"Paid them?"
"I wanted it to be a surprise, an early wedding present."
Sarah got nervous. She remembered a few times her surprises were movie nights or Chinese shrimp buffets with Morgan. Chuck stepped back letting her pass. She walked around the back and saw the patio lights stringed in a square around the yard. A bistro set sitting near the house and across from there was a fire pit crackling. Beside the garage facing her was a hot tub. It had a slotted horizontal cabana enclosure on three sides and the side facing her had a canvass curtain for privacy if needed. She spun around to take it all in. She didn't think her backyard was big enough, but somehow Chuck made it look twice the size. Chuck came around the corner and watched her look around. The look on her face was worth all the sweat and frustration of putting it together. She turned to face him. "It's beautiful."
"How?"
"I needed something to do? It kinda helped when you didn't come home till late." Chuck walked up to her and held her close. She kissed him. "It's lovely, thank you."
Chuck took her hand and walked the yard showing her everything. They came to the fire pit and looked at the flames. Chuck bent down to add more wood. "Stay here, I'll be right back." Chuck looked up and she was gone. So he continued to tend to the fire. He walked over to the table and grabbed a beer and twisted the cap off taking a swig. When he looked up he saw Sarah coming down the back stairs wearing a blue bikini. He looked at her. "You look amazing." Chuck walked over to her as she slipped seductively into the hot tub. Sarah looked up at him as she sat down in the hot tub. "Your a little over dressed." As she dragged the hot water over her body as she sunk further into the water. Chuck walked over to the side and watched her as she waved her hands back and forth in the hot water. "It feels lovely." Chuck leaned on the edge.
Chuck watched her then walked over to the table and grabbed her a beer and came back giving her one. "Are you coming in?"
"I'm way over dressed."
"Exactly."
Chuck smiled as he slipped his shirt off and shorts and slipped in with just his boxers on. He slid down and and took a swig. Sarah looked out at her yard. Then looked at Chuck. "This is beautiful, thank you."
"You had the yard, it just needed something." Sarah put her beer down and moved towards Chuck. She took his beer and placed it on the edge of the deck. She sat in his lap. "Thank you." As she kissed him. "Your welcome."
Chuck held her close. They sat together in each other's arm.
Chuck sat drinking his morning coffee staring at his phone. He flipped back and forth between the two pictures of the rings. He liked both of them and wondered if they had a wedding band to go with it. He liked the ring that had the diamonds going all around the band with a diamond in the middle. The other one was just a plain gold band with a diamond and two smaller diamonds on either side. He flipped back and forth and got interrupted when Sarah came down to join him.
"This is nice that we can sit out here. I love it. You did a good job."
"Your welcome and we do get a bit more privacy than if we sat on the front step."
They held hands and sipped their coffee. Chuck looked up at her as she played with his fingers and the ring he was wearing.
"So, I guess we should pick a date to get married?" Chuck waited for a reply.
Sarah looked at him and smiled. "I guess we can now."
"So do you want a big wedding, or go to the justice of the peace?"
Sarah looked at him. She didn't know what to say as she hadn't really thought about her wedding. It wasn't a priority or a possibility. Was it by choice or the thought that she didn't deserve to have one? Chuck saw the look on her face, he knew that look and she'd go dark and quiet in no time.
"What are you thinking?"
Sarah looked at him. "This, marriage you and me?"
"What, that it wouldn't happen or that your not sure where to get married?"
"Both." She turned to face him. "I was never that girl that dreamed about getting married or wearing a white dress. That was what 'other' girls dreamt about. I was that girl who dreamt about whether I was going to be arrested with my dad for whatever con we had committed, or where I was going to stay when my parents fought. Then when he got arrested, I then had to wonder who was going to take care of me. That turned into living my life out a suitcase as a spy. The only consistent thing was how many stamps I had on my passport till I met you and then the slightest thought of marrying you was as high as not falling in love with you."
"Well you fell in love with me so marriage is the next logical step. You deserve to have that day whether you dreamed about it or not. We don't have to have a big wedding cause no one is really here to see it happen. Ellie and Devon are gone, Morgan is as well. Your dad is who knows where, mine is not a consideration at all. There leaves Casey and Carina, Beckman, Big Mike." Sarah got up and sat in Chuck's lap. "Whatever you want I want as well. Not sure if guys think about stuff like this?"
Chuck kissed her hand. "When Ellie got married for the second time." They both laughed. "I looked over at you and wonder what we would say if we were an actual couple and it was our wedding. Yeah I thought about it and I thought about it when I was with Jill. Cause I thought that she was the one, so yeah I have thought about it and every time that I look at this ring I wonder what a Bartowski and a Walker would, do for a wedding. Minus the guns and all the shooting stuff." Sarah rested her head on his chest. "Maybe we can have a simple ceremony. We are simple people."
"So no big wedding?"
"I don't know. All I know is I can't wait to be Mrs. Chuck Bartowski."
Sarah looked up at him and kissed him. "Well I can't wait to be Mr. Sarah Walker."
A week later
Chuck waited till Sarah left for work. He grabbed his list. He read it out loud.
"Call Carina, Casey and book the church. Phoned in flower order and book hotel room for the weekend. Checking last minute honeymoon arrivals." Chuck grabbed Sarah's file she put together when they planned to run away. He wanted it to happen on their terms and not because they were running away. Chuck opened the file and looked at her plan and sat down.
He looked at the itinerary and remembered her telling him to head to the training facility in Prague then head to the Nadrazi train station in three weeks. Chuck looked at the tickets that weren't used. He also saw a one way ticket back to DC was dated that afternoon. Hours after he left her at the train station. 'You went back to DC?'
He wondered what else she did before she asked Beckman for a new mission. He laid all the tickets out and he saw that they still could go on their second chance trip as he was now calling it. He grabbed his phone and decided to put the trip back on. She was good and Chuck had to put his thinking cap on for some of the names she used to buy the tickets. She had planned for places to go once they left Prague which would get them as far as Switzerland, after that she had made another list. Chuck looked at the list and the places he saw he figured were in case they were seen or caught. Now they didn't have to hide. Chuck continued to talk to the travel agent. "Yes so we will leave Monday and fly out of Butte to New York."
"Yes then you will take a flight to Paris where you will stay at the Citzenm Paris Gare De Lyon hotel. Your train will leave Paris and head to Lyon then to Lucerne Switzerland. You can stay on the train or decide to go to Austria by car ending up in Italy as I see from your list of places."
"I want to be able to see it all if I can. Being our honeymoon and all."
"Well she is one lucky lady."
"She is."
"Okay I will have all your papers and itinerary sent by courier to your address as well as digital copy sent to your email."
"Thank you."
"All the best."
Chuck hung up and flipped through his phone for Carina's number. He pressed her number and instantly he heard a squeal. "Carina?"
"Chuckles, the only reason you would be calling is she's dead and that wouldn't happen so it has to be that you got some wonderful news."
"I do. Are you free next Saturday?"
Carina squealed.
"She said yes."
"She did."
Chuck continued to talked to her. "Okay, I can be there mid week take her shopping."
"Good she needs a dress, and I don't think she knows what she wants."
Carina could hear in his voice that he was overwhelmed but at the same time very excited to get to this point. "She wasn't one to get married, or thought about it."
"I know, we talked about that but what we have gone through this is what we both need."
"Darn tootin."
Chuck laughed.
"Alrighty then."
"I'm happy for you Chuckles."
"Thanks, see you next week."
Chuck now had to ask one more person to join them. Besides Morgan he was a true friend. He dialed the same number he dial 8 months ago when Casey had left to work with his old team. Chuck was ready to leave a message when he heard the voice of Casey. "I told you it better be a good reason, life or death if your calling me or your getting married or having a kid."
"Not life or death, or a kid."
There was a long pause but Chuck knew that Casey was grinning with a huge smile.
"When's the date?"
"A week Saturday."
"Where?"
"Butte Montana?"
"Butte Montana, yeah if you fly into…"
"I know where Butte Montana is. So how did you get Walker to say yes."
"She asked me, then she cried then we asked each other."
"How romantic."
"It was, wasn't it."
Chuck heard Casey grunt. "Awe sarcastic caring but not caring grunt. Thanks Casey."
"Okay. I'll be there. Thanks for calling."
"You can stay here…."
(Click goes the call)
"Hello Casey? Casey….you still there?"
Chuck started the BBQ knowing that Sarah would be home soon. She had been given a last minute flower order and it was a challenging one as their weren't any gardenias left in Butte. Chuck listened as she called him earlier telling him that she had to call the next state to have them shipped in. And the lateness of the call frustrated her. He heard her open the door so he grabbed their wine glasses and stood in the hall. She saw him and Chuck put down the glasses and pulled her into a hug. He kissed her and she stole another kiss before she grabbed one of the glasses. "Supper is almost ready."
Sarah walked to the back and saw that Chuck had set up the bistro table with dinnerware and candles. The hot tub was steaming and the BBQ sizzling. Chuck walked over to the BBQ and opened the lid. The smell was amazing. Sarah walked up to him and snuggled in his neck. "What are we having?"
"Steak and potatoes and cooked vegetables."
"You spoil me."
Chuck flipped the steaks over and brushed them with BBQ sauce closing the lid. He turned around. "You complete me."
"Jerry Maguire."
"Very good Ms. Walker."
They kissed softly, with soft touches following each kiss. Chuck held her face in his hands. "Your so beautiful."
Sarah smiled.
"Go sit down, supper is ready."
Sarah headed over to her chair and sat down. "Well we won't have many more evenings like this."
"No summer is almost over. Wait till winter comes."
"Oh can't wait." Chuck laughed.
Chuck headed into the house and slipped into the spare room, grabbing Sarah's gift. He had picked up the ring. He opened up the box and looked at it. The gold band with the center diamond with smaller diamonds was the ring he chose. He took it out stared at it then slipped it back into a red box. He walked out and grabbed their desserts placing the red box on her plate. He walked out as Sarah was staring at her new yard. He placed her plate down in front of her then sat down and waited. Sarah finally turned to face him and saw the plate with the red box. "What's this?"
"Open it."
Sarah took the red box and opened it finding the ring. She took the ring out. "You gave me a ring but I couldn't see you not having one so I saw this one and thought of you. He got up as Sarah turned to face him. "It was official it's now verified."
Chuck slowly untied the twist tie and slid it off her finger as he kissed her hand. Then he slipped the diamond ring onto her ring finger. He kissed the back of her hand then her lips. "It's beautiful, thank you."
"So will you marry me?"
Sarah looked at him with loving eyes. "Yes, again and again."
Sarah stood up and held him close.
Chuck cleaned up as he waited for Sarah to return. They took their wine to the hot tub as Sarah came into view wearing her blue bikini. Chuck sported his swimsuit just in case someone happened to show up. But as Sarah slipped into the water, it didn't take long for Chuck to pull on the draw strings loosening Sarah's body from her suit. Chuck slipped out of his shorts and tossed them as he moved towards her reaching for her top. He knelt in front of her as she wrapped her legs around his waist. He ran his fingers up her chest and around her neck. Kissing her lips and settling inside her warm neck. He released her from her top and pulled her closer. He wrapped one arm around her waist as he caressed her face with the other. They took it slow and let the hot water wrap them up like a blanket. They headed upstairs leaving the hot tub and fell into bed. Ready for round two, their bodies colliding in more ways than one.
"I love you." Sarah barely was able to voice as Chuck made love to her. She knew he heard her by the way he looked at her. His eyes staring down at the love of his life as he proved how much he loved her.
Chuck slid over as Sarah fell into his arms. The place she like to be in after they made love. They succumbed to sleep allowing their dreams to take over.
Days later…
Chuck headed down stairs hearing giggling. He walked into the kitchen to see a red head grabbing a cup of coffee. "Carina?"
"Chuckles."
"Sarah, look Carina is here?"
"I know isn't this great."
"Yeah totally."
Carina winked at Chuck as Chuck kissed Sarah on the cheek and grabbed a coffee and popped in a couple of pop tarts into the toaster.
"So blondie, you and me shopping?"
"Shopping? In Butte?"
"Yeah why not?"
Sarah watched as Chuck and Carina passed glances back and forth, as it wasn't a normal thing between them, it was almost creepy.
"So are we going shopping?"
"I can go during my lunch hour or even after work."
Chuck nodded over his coffee cup.
Carina looked at Sarah. "Great, noon it is."
Sarah looked at her watch as Chuck heard the toaster pop.
"I better go, I hope that this order of gardenias is here today or this wedding that is happening this weekend might not have the flowers they wanted."
Sarah walked over to Chuck and kissed him. "See you later?"
"See you later. Don't worry about the flowers I think that they will understand if they don't arrive."
Sarah smiled and headed out of the front door.
Chuck looked at Carina. "She called you?"
"Yeah, she did, so that is why she thinks that I am here."
"Good, if she thinks its her idea then getting her a dress won't be that bad."
"So what are you wearing?"
Chuck took a sip of his coffee. "I was going to wear my suit that I got a few months ago."
"Let me see."
Chuck headed upstairs and grabbed the suit. Carina met him at the door. "Not bad, but a tux would be better."
"Maybe but remember she's not a fan of weddings and she doesn't know that she is having one. So a tux might be too much."
"Okay but we need to find a different white shirt and you need a black tie. We are going shopping." She grabbed his arm and pulled him down the stairs. They walked towards main street as Sarah had taken the car. Carina walked the quaint neighbourhood taking in all the sights, smiling at young mothers and fathers pushing their babies in strollers as their dogs did tricks to get a pat by strangers. Carina and Chuck continued to walk. "Could you see yourself living a life like this?"
Carina looked at Chuck. "No, I'm not wired like this but it does look good on a Christmas card."
"So, you never thought about settling down?"
"Like this? No, I'm more of the settling down with a hot servant boy toy and we are living in Italy."
"So no kids?"
"No, but I will be a great aunt to your kids."
Chuck laughed. "Let's not get a head of ourselves. Getting Sarah to the alter is our focus now."
"Well you better be pregnant when you two get back from your honeymoon."
"Will we?"
"So where are you taking her?"
Chuck stopped to wait for the walk light. "Sarah planned to run away with me months ago and I turned her down. She had a plan to go through Europe till the CIA had stopped looking for us so I figured that I would make up for all of that by going with her plan."
"So how long will you be gone?"
"I don't know, I have planned so far for a month but we might like being out on the grid, enjoying life. But I don't think she'll want to be away from work that long."
"She's enjoying her new job?"
"Very much, didn't picture her making flower arrangements or teaching art classes would be on the same page as shooting and hunting down intel."
"You allowed her to be happy. After you left her at the train I was wondering if she'd ever be happy again."
Chuck lowered his head.
"But when you came back, she knew that there was a chance that you two could make it. I knew years ago and I was right."
"Yeah you were, but I'm the lucky one. Have you seen her? Then, you look at me. It's impossible to think that someone like her would like someone like me."
"Chuck, are you listening to yourself? Do you not see that you got the girl on your own terms, she didn't fall from the sky, she's not faking it nor pretending to like you as she had too? You won her heart. You said to yourself that she will be loved if it kills you and what I have seen, it came pretty close. Sarah has never been an open book but you were able to look inside. That's a win in my books. And this weekend you two will be married. Chuck you got the girl."
Carina pulled Chuck into an embrace. "Are you sure you don't have a brother?"
Chuck pulled back. "Well there's Morgan?"
"Martin?"
"Yeah."
Carina gave Chuck a look that he had seen only a few times. Carina answered. "Something to consider."
They slipped into the men's store.
Friday afternoon
Sarah walked up the sidewalk to see an army bag on the porch. She slipped inside and grabbed her gun that she had placed inside the old milk delivery box and slipped around the back of the house. She listened to hear something but got nothing till she came around the back and heard a faint grunt. She walked into the yard and saw Carina, Chuck and Casey. The three turned around. And Chuck had a hand full of cash. "Hello?" Chuck walked up to her and gave her a kiss taking her gun and placing it in the house. "We had a bet on how you would arrive in the back yard and I won." Casey walked over and gave Sarah a hug. "Walker."
"Casey good to see you?"
"It is."
"So why are you here?"
"I told Chuck that I wouldn't comeback unless there was a wedding or a child. And you don't look pregnant."
Casey looked at Chuck as Chuck walked towards them. "Sarah, we are getting married tomorrow."
Sarah looked at him. "What?"
"Wedding you and me?"
Sarah stood there processing. She looked at Carina. "You and me going shopping was for this weekend?"
"Yeah and wait till Chuck sees your dress."
"Chuck we haven't decided on a date."
Chuck took Sarah's hand. "I know but I have made arrangements to get married tomorrow afternoon at Matthew's church and Casey and Carina are here as our friends."
Sarah looked at Chuck as he waited. "Chuck, tomorrow?"
"I don't want to wait any longer, and what for. We love each other, we are ready for the next step."
Sarah paused then caressed his face kissing him. "I love you."
"I love you too Chuck."
Carina opened the champagne and poured four glasses. Casey looked at the people around him as he raised his glass. "When I was given the task of looking, (then he remembered that Carina still didn't know about the intersect) when given the assignment to come out to LA and work with you Chuck and Sarah, I thought that it would be a few days or even a week but it has been over three years that this once titled assignment has now turned into a deep friendship. Though it wasn't easy, some how despite your odds, you two fell in love. I had my doubts (looking at Sarah and looking at Chuck) but what you had was beyond what we saw on the outside. I found out that you Chuck had feelings for Sarah way back when we were on the diamond mission with Carina and maybe before that. Even when you two were angry with each other you still needed to know that each of you were okay. It was your looks that you gave each other, the words that were said. And for you Sarah to maintain a professional balance knowing that you were falling for the nerd I was impressed even when I didn't understand. Chuck I gave you a hard time with all your girly feelings but I see that it actually worked. So I am so happy to be witness to this and I wouldn't miss it for the world." Casey lifted his glass higher. "To Chuck and Sarah."
The four raised their glasses and each clanged them with another.
Chuck took Sarah aside after supper. Sarah kissed him. "What was that for?"
"For everything. How?"
"It's just something that I wanted to give you and do for you."
"But I haven't done anything?"
"Yeah, you have."
"What?"
"That flower order. The one that drove you a bit crazy."
"That one." Rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, you were actually getting your own flowers ready."
Sarah looked at him.
"Who would have all their flowers, to include gardenias? And the name?"
"The order had Ivan Spienonue written on it."
Chuck smiled then laughed. "Ivan – I have been spying on you Spi-en-on-ue."
Chuck repeated the name and Sarah fell into his arms. "Really? I thought the guy was French."
Chuck grabbed her face in his hands. "I love you and tomorrow we will make it official. But tonight, you and Carina are heading to the hotel. Tomorrow morning you will have a massage and champagne breakfast and by three Carina will have you at the church."
"We aren't tonight."
"No, bad luck to see the bride before the wedding."
Sarah could see Carina at the patio door. "You ready blondie?"
Sarah headed upstairs and packed a few things and put them in a bag, as Carina grabbed her dress. Chuck was waiting at the door. Carina looked up. "I'll meet you downstairs."
Chuck slipped inside as he looked at Sarah. "You ready?"
"I think so." She turned to face him. "We could have a quickie?"
"Tempting, but I am going to say no cause I want to undress you and kiss you out of your dress as a married woman, as my wife. So I will pass and wait till tomorrow. But I will settle for a kiss."
Chuck pulled her close as their lips met for the last time as Sarah Walker and Chuck Bartowski.
Wedding Day
Casey was up and already making his infamous hang over breakfast for Chuck, but he also had pancakes and the works as well. Chuck and Casey downed a few bottles of beer and a few glasses of Jack plus finishing off the champagne. Chuck staggered down the stairs, seeing the dining room set. "Bartowski have a seat."
Chuck didn't have the strength to argue. He sat down and poured himself a cup of coffee. He looked up to see Casey wearing Sarah's apron tied under his armpits. "Nice look."
"Well, I didn't want to spill on my shirt. How are you feeling?"
Chuck looked up. "Like I have been run over."
"Here drink this!"
Chuck saw the glass of beer with a raw egg inside as Casey poured a few drops of hot sauce into the glass. "No more alcohol."
"This will take care of that hangover and this will fill your stomach. We have less than six hours till we need to get you to the church and you are not going to puke at your own wedding."
Chuck begrudgingly tossed back the mixture. "Suck it up Bartowski."
Chuck dry heaved but managed to keep it down. He grabbed his coffee and took a sip. "Better right?"
Sarcastically. "Oh, yeah."
Casey served Chuck his breakfast and sat down dishing himself a plate.
"So, you are out of the spy game?"
Chuck looked up. "For now, Sarah's happy here, happiest that I have seen in a long time. We are good here."
"Sarah told me last night that you did the back yard."
"Yeah, with a neighbour's help. It was fun. I never had the chance back in LA so at least here I can do stuff like that. And you? How's your old team?"
"Good, it's not like this team. But I get to be out there."
"Yeah, sorry about Prague. I just couldn't do it. I thought that was what I wanted or needed to do but I will never be that spy."
"Maybe not then but maybe now that you and Sarah are together? You could go back and try again?"
"You want me to go back?"
Chuck looked up at his friend. "Honestly, no. Your not that kind of spy. You have taken what I assume was at the beginning a burden and have been able to successfully make it work for you. No training is going to change that. The intersect is safe, your safe and in a few hours you are going to marry a very special lady. So eat up. We have flowers to get and a church to decorate."
Chuck smiled and ate with his friend.
Sarah slipped into a bathrobe as the massagers set up their tables. They placed candles and soft music beside the two tables. Sarah came out as Carina grabbed two mimosas' and passed one to Sarah. Carina sat on her knees on the bed as Sarah curled up in the chair. They watched as the room was ready then slipped under the sheets as their bodies were rubbed down with oil. Sarah closed her eyes but when she heard Carina talking to someone she opened them. "She's busy."
"Who is it?"
"Your husband to be."
Sarah's eyes lit up as she slid her arm out of the sheet to grab the cell.
"Hey."
"Hey beautiful, sounds like your having your massage."
"I am, we are and its lovely."
"So you're naked?"
"I am." Chuck closed his eyes picturing her naked. "What are you doing?"
"Picturing you naked."
"Besides that."
"Casey and I are getting ready to go and get the flowers and such. I drank way too much last night after you left, but I took one of Casey's hangover drinks and I feel pretty good."
"You and Casey?"
"Yeah, it was fun. So what did you and Carina do?"
Chuck could hear her moan, which made him take notice. He knew that she wasn't listening. "I hope that your thinking of me?"
Sarah bit her lip. "If you only knew. Wait till tonight Mr. Bartowski and wait till we go on our honeymoon. By the way, are we going on one?"
Chuck switched ears. "Got to go babe, enjoy your massage and I will see you at the church. Love you."
"Chuck! Chuck!"
Carina looked at her. "He hung up on me."
"Good, now close your eyes and lets get back to this."
Carina grabbed the phone and tossed it on the bed.
Chuck waited at the alter with Casey beside him. He rolled onto the heels of his shoes. He looked at Casey who actually cleaned up well and was wearing a suit and tie. Matthew walked up the aisle and stepped up on the second step of the alter. "She's ready."
Chuck nervously smiled. "Thanks for doing this."
"My pleasure, it beats a funeral that follows but comes in second to a baptism."
Matthew looked up as he saw Carina walking up the aisle. She took her spot as Chuck looked down the aisle. He saw the flowers that he had her make and besides the bride they were beautiful. Sarah came walking in wearing a long white laced dress with off the shoulder corset style dress with beaded work on the front. Her hair was up which reminded him of Ellie's second wedding. She walked closer and Chuck could tell that she was fighting back her tears. Chuck tried to fight his but failed miserably. Sarah reached Chuck as he took her hand as Sarah passed her flowers to Carina.
The ceremony started as Matthew started talking then he looked at Chuck after Sarah spoke. "Right my vows. I don't have any really. How do I express the depth of my love for you? Or my dreams for our future? Or the fact that I will fight for you everyday? Or that our kids will be like little superheroes with little capes and stuff like that." Sarah laughed. "Words can't express that. They don't do it justice. They just don't cut it. So no vows." Teary eyed Sarah sigh then smiled. "I'll just prove it to you every day for the rest of our lives. You can count on me."
Sarah wiped a tear from her cheek and looked up at him. "Perfect."
Matthew held back his reaction and looked at Chuck. "Do you, Charles Bartowski take this woman as your lawfully wedded wife?"
Chuck looked at Sarah. "I do."
"And Sarah Walker do you…"
"I do."
The five all laughed.
"Okay then well by the power vested in me by the state of Montana I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Chuck smiled. "Come here."
Sarah leaned in as she felt the current from his lips even before he pressed them against hers. He held the kiss to make sure it was real, then swooped her even more into his arms dipping her, kissing her bare neck as he brought her up. They looked at each other then embraced Casey and Carina. Chuck turned to shake Matthew's hand. "Thanks, my pleasure. Just need you two to sign a few things as well as your stand ins."
Casey and Carina said their good byes as Chuck and Sarah headed up stairs as man and wife as they had a few hours till their flight left and they rather spend the time at home than at the airport. Casey and Carina headed to the airport heading back to their previous destinations. Chuck and Sarah reached their room. Carina had set everything up. Candles were lit all around the room and on the floor, the bed had gardenia pedals strewn all over the bed spread. Champagne was chilling in a tall container. Chuck grabbed the bottle and opened it up pouring two glasses. He walked towards Sarah. "To Mrs. Sarah Bartowski. To Mr. Charles Walker."
They finished their champagne as Chuck took their glasses and returned staring at Sarah. He kissed her softly, nervously touching her bare skin. He moved behind her kissing her neck then slowly unzipping her dress. He held it as she slipped out of it. Sarah turned around and slid his jacket off releasing him from his tie and unbuttoning his shirt. Chuck kneaded her corset slowly removing it from her body exposing the rest of her. He kissed her nakedness as she went for his pants. They stood their with just their underwear. Sarah looked better in hers than he did in his. Her laced ensemble made him lose his focus. He stared at her body as he rested his hands on her hips as they kissed. Chuck picked her up and laid her down on the bed as the pedals began to stick to their bodies. They rolled back and forth holding each other close as they made love for the first time as man and wife. Their bodies screaming for the attention and tenderness that each were receiving from each other. They reached new heights and a new level of intimacy that couldn't be explained, well at least not tonight.
Early Monday morning
Chuck called upstairs. "Hey wifey, our cab will be here shortly."
"I am coming, if you told me where we were going then I could pack accordingly."
Chuck smiled. "Not a chance." He saw the cab pull up. "Babe the cab is here."
Sarah came down with another bag and a carry on. "We are going to miss our flight."
Sarah reached the last step. "And who's fault is that?"
"Not mine."
"Well, Mrs. Bartowski I didn't hear any complaining, but I did hear other noises."
Sarah blushed. Chuck walked the suitcases down to the cab. He came back and locked up. "Don't worry, the store is taken care of and Matthew is taking care of the place. Let's go."
They reached the airport and when they arrived at their gate. They were approached by an airport official. "Mr. Carmichael?"
Chuck almost fainted as he heard his cover name. He looked up. The man continued to speak. "I have instructions to take you and your wife to a private jet. A Diane Beckman has made arrangements to have your flight taken care of and to have the jet at your disposal for your entire honeymoon." The man gave Chuck a card as he passed it onto Sarah. Sarah opened it. "Dear Chuck and Sarah. Casey told me the great news and I couldn't be happier. So as a gift I am loaning out my jet to you both. Enjoy your time away. You both deserve this. All the best. Diane."
Sarah slipped the card back into the envelope and watched as their bags were taken from check in to a golf cart. They slipped into the back and were driven through the airport. They reached a private area and looked up to see Beckman's jet. Sarah and Chuck grabbed their carry on's and headed up the stairs. They found a basket full of fruit, chocolate and a bottle of champagne. The flight took off as Sarah sat back enjoying her champagne. She took her shoes off looking over at Chuck as she slid her foot into his lap. "Hi oh!"
"Chuck, husband, where are we going?"
Chuck kept his eyes down but her foot and what she was doing with her foot made it hard for him to concentrate. "Wife, can you please stop."
"Stop what?" As if she didn't know.
"Stop that." As he looked down at his lap.
"This?" As her foot pressed into his lap.
"You tell me where we are going and I will move my foot."
Sarah didn't move her foot as Chuck slid between her legs. "Well, I like..where this is going?"
"It's your fault."
"No I just wanted to know where we were going, it's not my fault that your in this situation."
"Situation. Didn't you have enough this morning?"
"I'm married now."
"So that changes things?"
Sarah wrapped her legs around his and pulled him into a searing kiss. Chuck looked at her with lustful eyes. "Where are we going?"
Chuck unbuttoned her shirt and kissed her chest then he moved to her neck as his hand removed their jeans. Their voices quivered as they started to make love 30,000 feet in the air.
Chuck slipped his jeans on and sat across from Sarah as she laid there in just her underwear. He grabbed her shirt and tossed it to her as she sat up seeing a folder. She recognized it. "Our file?"
"Yeah."
He passed it to her as he grabbed his shirt slipping it on. Sarah opened the file and looked at the first page. "Well we aren't on that flight so we will not be going to New York but will arrive a bit early in Paris."
Chuck gave her time to look at the new plans. Sarah looked up as she wiped a tear from her cheek. "It's not exactly what you had planned for us months ago but I am just taking us to the places that you did have listed. I hope that is enough for now?"
Sarah leaned forward and fell into Chuck's arms. "It's perfect."
