CHARMING'S AUTHORS NOTE #1: Well ladies and gentlemen, this chapter was truly a joy to write. It's been along time since I've had a chapter of Desire end on a happy note; actually, I don't know if it's ever happened really... Either way this chapter was a lot of fun and in the end what I was hoping would be the final chapter of the story will not in fact be the final chapter of the story. About three days ago, I had a brain blast, while I was writing chapter seven; I suddenly had a brilliant idea for a completely new direction for the ending. The new ending completely took over my brain and before I knew it, I had a completely new outline for a new ending and I finished chapter 7 in another day. What you see here is the result of that new direction.

CHARMING'S AUTHORS NOTE #2: Now because of this new direction, you will be getting two more chapters of Desire; it's just one of those things where if I wanted to tell the story right, and with what I want to happen in the story, I needed more chapters. What is likely going to happen is you're going to get an eighth chapter, a ninth chapter, and an epilogue. Once again though, I reserve the right to make any and all changes to the direction of the story at any time, if my demon hell spawn creative brain comes up with a new idea lol.

CHARMING'S AUTHORS NOTE #3: I want to thank my beta, Nev for going over the chapter for me, thank you Nev!

Chapter Seven

Down River

As Chuck followed Sarah outside, his mind was racing, trying desperately to regain control, but failing miserably. The woman he loved was here, they were together again, but why? How long was she here? Why was she here? Why was he here? He had so many questions and he knew he wouldn't get any answers to them. She was right there and yet it felt like she was a thousand miles away. Should he get close again, should he enjoy this time, knowing the eventual heartbreak the morning would bring? Chuck didn't know if he'd survive watching her leave a second time. It had torn his heart out the first time, but knowing what would follow after she left, Chuck didn't know if he could go through that again.

Sarah's mind was frantic; Chuck was here, but why? Why had they sent him here, and if they had sent him here, why had they sent her in here to extract him, when this place had no security? Where was Casey? Why wasn't Casey the one on this mission? Sarah's mind was a hive of angry hornets, buzzing around frantically from one question to another. As Sarah looked back at Chuck, she saw the pensive look on his face, choked by caution, smothered by fear; he was over there wondering if he should let her in or not, save himself the heartbreak or not. Sarah couldn't blame him; as it stood right now, the morning was going to be the worst moment of her entire life. Her heart was already broken, she knew this night would work to heal those wounds, put the pieces back together; then the morning would break her heart worse than before. The second separation would hollow her out worse than before; would she even be able to live on after that?

Sarah shook off those morbid thoughts; Chuck was here right now; they were together again, maybe for the last time ever, she needed to make the most of it. She could see that Chuck was having this very same internal debate as the two of them walked along the stone path, towards the dance floor and adjacent tables.

For Chuck, the internal turmoil over how much to let Sarah in this evening, was raging in earnest; she was here, maybe for the last time, and he knew he'd regret it if he squandered this moment. But would the pain be worth it? Would the crushing pain of watching her tearfully leave his life a second time, actually be worth it? When she turned to look at him and gave him a small smile, his mind could only think one thing.

"She's worth it," Sarah Walker was worth all of the pain in the world; he would break his own heart a million times over, for one more minute with her, and he knew it. She was right there within his reach, and he couldn't let this opportunity pass. Chuck was in love with this amazing woman, and he was going to be damned if the government was going to rob him of this moment.

They finally arrived at a table and took a seat; Chuck made sure to pull out Sarah's chair for her, she thanked him softly. Chuck quickly took a seat next to Sarah and set his manhattan down on the table. When Chuck looked over at Sarah, he saw her eyeing him, she wanted to ask something, but she was holding back.

"How are you doing?" she said softly to him, Chuck swallowed silently.

"Physically, I'm fine," Chuck deflected; Sarah leaned forward and grasped his hand, squeezing it supportively. The look in Sarah's eye told Chuck that Sarah knew what he was doing.

"Not physically Chuck," she said directly. Chuck simply nodded to himself and searched for the words. Sarah watched Chuck shrink into himself emotionally, as he looked over at their joined hands. Finally, Chuck spoke softly, only to soft notes of music, and the general cacophony of the party louder than his voice.

"I haven't had a real flash in five weeks. This is my first time in the field in a long time. I've missed you terribly, if you haven't already noticed," Chuck said, with a light chuckle, before he continued. "No one in my family understands what I'm going through, so they've stopped trying to help me; they all expect me to hate you. I could never hate you. Beckman and Agent Forrest wanted me to accept a new cover; they wanted me to tell people that you left me to go back to DC and date your ex, thus opening the door for Forrest to come in and replace you. I refused, I wouldn't tell that lie, I wouldn't hate you; that's when the abuse started," Chuck said quietly, almost to himself. Sarah's blood ran cold, now she understood why Agent Forrest was at the LA field office. They'd removed her from the team because she was abusing Chuck.

"Oh Chuck," Sarah started, before Chuck shook his head and spoke again, softly.

"It gets worse," Sarah piped down in an instant and let Chuck continue. "Forrest's abuse wasn't just verbal, it was physical; I'd have to hide the bruises from everyone, she knew how to hurt me and she did constantly. The team stopped functioning almost immediately after you left. Casey and Forrest hated each other, but Casey just sat there for weeks and let it happen. As the weeks went by, I got low; without the Intersect, my usefulness waned and I feared they'd get rid of me, at least that's what Forrest always told me would happen." By now Sarah was practically in tears as she learned what they'd done to her nerd; they'd abused him, destroyed him. The next time Sarah saw the bitch, Forrest, she was going to kill her! Sarah was snapped out of her thoughts when Chuck gave her hand a comforting squeeze.

"It's okay Sarah, they got rid of Forrest; Beckman finally heard about the abuse and Forrest has been reassigned, pending an investigation," Chuck said softly, hoping to comfort Sarah before she came apart, as she looked like she was about to. Sarah simply nodded silently and tried to compose herself.

"I'm gonna kill that bitch," Sarah growled, as she reached for her mojito and took a sip; Chuck simply gave her hand another squeeze and nodded.

"I know you will, but for right now, why don't you tell me what you've been up to?" Chuck asked with a small smile; Sarah simply glanced at him nervously and swallowed. Chuck noticed her hesitancy and had to wonder what the source of that was.

"To be honest with you, I haven't done much," Chuck looked at her in surprise; she simply shrugged. "I've been on suspension in DC the entire time," Sarah said, much to Chuck's astonishment.

"They suspended you?" Chuck asked in shock; Sarah simply nodded.

"Said I was too emotionally compromised, if you can freaking believe it," Sarah said with a huff as she took another sip of her mojito; Chuck hemmed and hawed before shrugging.

"I mean, I can kinda see it," Chuck said cautiously; upon seeing the offended look on Sarah's face, he spoke quickly to elaborate. "By that I mean, you are in love with me, we are in love with each other," Sarah smiled at that and nodded. "To the pearl-clutchers at the CIA, that is not allowed, so I can see how they'd think that you were too emotionally compromised. It is bullshit, but I can understand it," Chuck said honestly to Sarah, who nodded at what Chuck was saying.

"I guess; still hurt to basically be fired for nothing, and then be sent back to DC with my tail between my legs," she said with a grumble that made Chuck breathe a laugh and nod.

"So, what'd you get up to on your six weeks at home?" Chuck asked to Sarah who had to correct something before she could even contemplate his question.

"First of all, DC is not my home; Burbank is my home," Sarah said to Chuck, whose features softened. She smiled at him as she saw the understanding in his eyes. "No matter what those jackasses in DC say, Burbank is my home, you are my home," Chuck gave her a small smile and nodded silently; it hurt to hear that, knowing she'd be gone again in the morning, but Chuck was touched nonetheless.

"Back to your question; to be honest with you, I spent most of my time on the couch watching movies," Sarah said to Chuck who looked positively shocked. Chuck's shock made Sarah chuckle; she could imagine what he was thinking; Sarah Walker watching movies? Impossible! The sound of Simply Red's "Holding Back the Years" filled the air.

"What'd ya watch?" Chuck asked as he stood up and extended a hand towards Sarah, signaling his desire to dance with her. Sarah accepted his hand and joined him on the dancefloor. As they swayed back and forth to the music, Sarah could see the nerd in Chuck come to the surface. Chuck was obviously eager to learn what kind of movies she liked, boy was he going to be surprised.

"To be honest with you, I watched all sorts of nerdy stuff," she said bashfully, much to Chuck's shock, which showed on his face; she simply nodded and continued. "I watched the Star Trek movies, several seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the first three seasons of Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, the movie Dune, all of the Star Wars movies, oh and I finally watched Tron, thought it was cute." As Sarah finished summarizing her six weeks of nerd bingeing, she saw the shocked look on Chuck's face, it made her giggle. It took a moment for Chuck's brain to reboot; when it did, he said the first thing his overwhelmed nerd brain could think of.

"God, you're amazing," Sarah blushed and simply rested her head on his chest and swayed to the music.

"I wanted to know you better, I wanted to understand why you enjoyed all of these nerdy things in your life. I took the time to get to know what makes you, you, like I should have when I had the chance," Sarah said tearfully. There was that pain again, that searing regret that always followed her around in life these days.

"I needed something in my life to remember you; I needed a way to be closer to you, at least in spirit," Sarah said with a sniffle. She couldn't cry again, not in front of him, she couldn't do this here. As Chuck heard Sarah's despair return, he finally understood the tattoo; he'd understood the translation just fine the yesterday day, but now he understood the tattoo.

Aeternum Tuus

Aeternum Solus

Forever Yours

Forever Alone

She'd made the same promise to herself that he had made to himself; he'd promised his heart to her and her alone. Nobody would ever love him like she had, and he would never love another person as much as he loved Sarah Walker. Once you've had the best, why would you settle for anything less, right? Sarah obviously felt the same way, and she'd inscribed that promise on her body.

"I told you, you'd turn into a real girl one day," Chuck said after a long pause, Sarah gave him a wet laugh in reply and nodded into his chest. She blinked away the tears before they could fall and nodded at him in recognition of his quip.

"Indeed, you did; I spent six weeks on the couch, looking like the Dude, not my finest hour, to be honest," Sarah said honestly, the silence from Chuck grabbed her attention. Sarah pulled back slightly and noticed another shocked look on his face. This time, Sarah got mildly offended at his shock that she knew about the Dude. "What's that look for, I've seen the Big Lebowski; I wasn't grown in a lab you know?" Chuck shook his head defensively and laughed.

"I didn't say you were, although it would go a long way in explaining how perfect you are," Chuck said candidly, which made Sarah blush.

"Stop it, you're making me blush."

"What, think about it, you're the smartest person I've ever known other than Ellie, which is still a super high bar. You're the most fearless, bravest, most tenacious, fighter I've ever seen; I mean you stood toe to toe with Mr. Colt and held your own. If it was you, or an army of ninja's, I'd pick you in a fight any day. Beyond your combat prowess, you're the most kind, most generous, most loving person I've ever met." When she looked at him skeptically, he simply nodded. "You are, Sarah; you took a broken soul like mine, you healed that weary soul, showed him he did deserve to feel loved, that he was worthy. You showed a loser, wasting away in a Buy More, that he was meant for more, meant for something bigger in life You've fought evil, saved hundreds, maybe even thousands of lives, you did that." Sarah's eyes were glassy as she listened to Chuck's impassioned speech, she loved this man so much.

"Beyond how heroic you are, you're one of the funniest people I've ever met. You said on our first date that you weren't funny; it isn't that you're not funny, it's that your side splittingly hilarious sense of humor, is too dry for a lot of people to understand, too smart, too intelligent. We haven't even gotten to your breathtaking beauty, and I'm not talking about your body, which is stunning; I'm talking about your eyes, deep pools of sapphire that I could get lost in, if I looked into them for too long. Your smile, with your perfectly imperfect teeth. Your smile that brightens my day, your smile that I crave when I have a horrible day at the Buy More. Everything about you is perfect, Sarah Lisa Walker, even the perfectly imperfect parts of you that you haven't shared with me yet, they're perfect too."

By now the tears were flowing, Sarah couldn't stop them, even if she were trying to; she loved this man so much and she had to show him somehow. With her words failing her, Sarah leaned up and kissed the man she loved; Sarah threw everything she had into the kiss, everything she felt towards him, all of the love. The kiss was like nothing Chuck had ever experienced in his life; it was the kind of kiss they write about in romance novels. Chuck pulled Sarah close and kissed her with everything he had; when the two of them separated, they each had a beaming smile on their face.

"I love you," Chuck said breathlessly; Sarah simply gave him a watery smile. He was so perfect as well, everything she'd never known she'd always wanted. Chuck Bartowski was smart, kind, brave; he was so unflinchingly loyal to the ones he cared about, something that was wholly alien to Sarah Walker. She cherished everything about him, and in that moment, as she saw the pure, unfiltered love in his eyes, she said what was in her heart.

"Marry me." Chuck looked at her in shock, but her smile never faded one iota; she was serious. Chuck couldn't believe what he was hearing.

Finally,
We have seen some things

Some awfully nice
Some dreadfully bad

"What?" he asked breathlessly, still in shock.

"You are everything I never knew I could have in my life; since I was sixteen, I've felt like I wasn't worthy of happiness, until I met you, Chuck. You are more than I could ever dream about; you are so special, and you love me of all people. I don't know how much time we have left together; but before I'm forced to leave you forever," Sarah stopped as her voice cracked with emotion. Sarah looked down briefly to collect herself; eventually she looked up at him tearfully and spoke sadly. "Before I am forced to say goodbye forever, I want to be Sarah Bartowski." Chuck huffed at the weight of her admission, she wanted to marry him, she really did love him.

But we will sing
Wash the blood, off our knees
'Cause our love breaks
Through ruff seas, our ship will sail it

"How can we?" Chuck began to say, but Sarah spoke over him quickly as the idea began to gain momentum in her mind.

"We get in my car and drive to Vegas; we don't stop, we just drive." Sarah searched Chuck's eyes for any clues to what he was thinking. She wanted this so badly, she wanted to be his wife so badly. If she became his wife, then they couldn't take that away from her; even if she never saw him again, she would still be his wife, she'd be able to carry that around with her for the rest of her life, she'd be a Bartowski… forever.

For Chuck, his mind was racing; he wanted this, but what would Beckman think? What would Casey, and Ellie, and Morgan think? In that moment, Chuck had a burst of clarity; it wasn't up to any of them, it was his life and it was time he took control of it. Chuck simply nodded to Sarah; she eyed him nervously as she saw the nod, but her nervousness blossomed into joy as she saw the smile on his face.

I, don't, understand
How this world will work
'Cause time will tell us nothing
I'll take a chance on something

"Yes," Chuck said, Sarah couldn't say anything to convey her joy, instead she captured his lips in another kiss, the fact that they were in the middle of the dance floor completely forgotten. When the two seemingly star-crossed lovers' lips parted, they simply stood there, their foreheads together, reveling in the joy they felt.

Go, don't stop
Go, don't stop
Go, don't stop
Go don't stop
Now go

"We're getting married," Sarah breathed with a beaming smile. Chuck matched her smile with one of his own and took her hand in his. With quick strides he led her off the dance floor and towards the house; their joined hands a symbol of their pending union. As the two lovers ran through the party, towards the front door, they passed Rex Horn. As Chuck saw the actor and the man standing next to him, he flashed for the first time in weeks.

Name: Theodore "Rex" Horn

DOB: June 3rd, 1954 (Age 55)

Occupation: Film Actor

Pertinent Information: Childhood friend of Diane Beckman, Director of National Intelligence

Name: Marcus Lynch

DOB: December 17th, 1938 (Age 71)

Occupation: Central Intelligence Agency (Retired)

Pertinent Information: Known associate of Michael Hawthorne, Director of Central Intelligence

Chuck stumbled as he flashed, but Sarah caught him and led him outside; a tremendous relief washed over Chuck as he realized he could flash again, the Intersect was working again, all it took was getting Sarah back in his life. As Marcus and Rex watched Chuck and Sarah quickly move through the party and exit the house, the two older men shared a knowing look; Marcus pulled out his phone and dialed his contact. Director Hawthorne answered the phone.

"Hello, Marcus, any news from the party?" Hawthorne asked, getting right to the point.

"Good news, Mike; don't know where they're headed off to, but the happy couple was just seen hand in hand leaving the venue in quite the hurry," Marcus said with a smile on his face.

"And the other thing?" Hawthorne asked, without actually asking.

"He definitely saw me, he got a strange look in his eyes very briefly, before stumbling, doesn't look like the most coordinated fellow," Marcus commented with a chuckle, that Hawthorne reciprocated in kind.

"Indeed, but he's good people; thank you Marcus, tell your Mother I said hello," Hawthorne said with finality to Marcus, who simply nodded to himself.

"It was my pleasure sir, it was good to get back out in the field again, and I will certainly pass on your regards." With that, Marcus ended the call and turned to Rex.

"Thanks for hosting me Rex," Marcus said as he extended his hand, which Rex shook gladly.

"Pleasure to have you. Take care Marcus," Rex said politely as he watched Marcus walk away, no doubt to go home and enjoy his own evening. Once Marcus was out of sight, Rex pulled out his own phone and dialed his own contact, he'd called this number hundreds of times over the years, but this was the first time it was for professional reasons. On the fifth ring the phone picked up and the unmistakable voice of Diane Beckman filled his ear.

"Hello Teddy, how's the party?" Diane asked her old friend, warmly.

"It's been a smashing success, such a shame you and Roan couldn't make it this year," Rex said honestly; it really was a shame, it was so seldom that he got to see his childhood friend and her on again, off again life partner.

"Well, Roan wouldn't have been able to make it this year anyways sadly, he's out on assignment. If you're calling me now, you must have an update on our two intrepid adventurers?" Diane quipped to Rex who simply chuckled.

"Something like that; I talked to that Charlotte Barstow, before she reconnected with the guy you sent here," he began.

"And?" Diane heard her friend sigh a deep sigh, which worried her.

"I don't know what happened to her, but that woman has a lot of bitterness and anger in her, most of which is directed at you, I think," Rex admitted; that was what Diane was afraid of.

"Yeah well, I did screw up pretty badly; not that I can tell you anything about it, Teddy," Diane rushed out with a chuckle, which made Rex laugh.

"I wasn't going to ask, I don't want to know," Rex added with a chuckle.

"How was she after she reconnected with Mr. Watkins?" Diane said, sticking to the cover stories she'd given to her best friend she'd had since childhood.

"If I had to boil it down into one word, I'd have to say joy, pure joy," Rex said to Diane, who simply nodded to herself in disappointment, she'd messed up six weeks ago and tonight had proven it.

"She was that different?" Diane asked.

"She really was, Di; they both were. To be completely honest with you, it was like they were two halves of the same person, they just clicked together," Rex said into the phone. The hum of understanding he got from his longtime friend told him a lot more than the former spy wished it would have. "But you already knew that, didn't you?" Diane was very quiet. "Oh my god, that's it isn't it? You separated them, and they both stopped functioning; now you're hoping that by getting them back together that things will just go back to the way things were," Rex said to Diane, who cursed his keen eye and brilliant intellect.

"Come on, you know I can neither confirm nor deny, ongoing intelligence operations," Diane said in her well-practiced professional voice that, though soft, conveyed to Rex to drop it. Rex simply chuckled to himself; his friend hadn't changed much over the years.

"Fine, I'll leave it be; just don't fuck it up this time," Rex said to Diane who rolled her eyes at him over the phone.

"Thanks for the advice Teddy," Diane said sarcastically before she grew more serious. "More seriously, thank you for going along with this. Those two are the best I've got, and I know I was asking a lot of you, when I asked you to allow them to snoop around your home," Diane said honestly. She'd called him out of the blue and asked him to let two total strangers into his home to snoop around for her. The thing was, her friend Teddy, who the world knew as Rex Horn, was a great guy and he'd been happy to help her out.

"It's nothing Di, just know that the next time you're in town, you're going to be buying the drinks for Cheryl and I," Rex said with a small smile. He heard Diane chuckle on the other end of the call.

"Sure thing. Give your girls a kiss for me; tell them Aunty misses them," Diane said as the call wound down.

"Absolutely, talk to you later Di," Rex said to Diane.

"Take care, Teddy," Diane said before hanging up. As Rex slipped his phone back into his pocket, he couldn't help but think back to Charlotte, and how much happier she looked once she was reunited with her guy, joy was the correct word. He hoped those two worked out, because they were so obviously in love; but then again, he was an old romantic, so what did he know?

~X~

Finally
We have seen some things
But bells in your hallways
Don't move you in the right place

The drive from Beverly Hills to Las Vegas was some two hundred and eighty miles; in theory it should have taken the two of them nearly five hours to travel that distance… they did it in two and a half. With Sarah behind the wheel, and her penchant for grossly fracturing the speed limit, the entire journey went by in a flash for the two lovers, their hands intertwined in the other's the entire drive. It would seem both Chuck and Sarah couldn't resist sneaking a peak at the other, for every time they did, they often caught the other sneaking a peak at them as well. The beaming smiles on their faces and slight blushes betraying the fact that the two of them were completely sure of their decision, they were going to do this. As the lights of Las Vegas came into view on the dark horizon, the swell of excitement inside both of them only grew more intense. For Sarah Walker, her heart hadn't stopped racing since she'd asked him to marry her and he'd said yes; in a short while she'd be the wife of the greatest man she'd ever known and nobody would ever be able to take that away from her.

For Chuck, the conversation was slightly different; he was excited to be marrying Sarah, she was the love of his life after all, but a part of him couldn't help but think about what Beckman would think, what would Casey and everyone else think of this? How would they make the cover work after this? How would he explain this to Ellie and Morgan?

"Hey, stop that," Sarah said quietly, grabbing Chuck's attention; Chuck's head snapped back towards her in a flash.

"Hmm?" Chuck answered innocently, but he saw the look on Sarah's face and knew he'd been found out.

"Stop thinking about what happens later, just stay in this moment with me," she said softly as she reached out with her hand that had spent most of the trip clasped around Chuck's hand, and caressed Chuck's cheek. Chuck gave Sarah a small smile and a nod as they entered Las Vegas. It was just passed eleven in the evening when they rolled in and from the look in Sarah's eyes, she was on a mission and new exactly where to go.

"Sarah," Chuck began cautiously, Sarah looked at Chuck with a smile.

"Hmm?"

"Have you done this before?" Chuck asked cautiously, trying not to sound judgmental; Sarah simply smiled at Chuck and shook her head no.

"No, but I did have to help a mark do this on a mission once, so I know how this works. The first thing we need to do is get down to the Marriage License Bureau and apply for a marriage license." Chuck simply nodded. "Buckle up Chuck, you're about to learn a whole lot about the real me." Chuck simply gave Sarah a smile and settled in.

It was fifteen minutes before the two of them arrived at their destination, the bureau closed at midnight so they only had twenty minutes left, but Sarah was on a mission to become Mrs. Bartowski, tonight, damnit! Once they entered the large building, they walked up to the small table in the center of the room. There, on the table were marriage license application forms. Sarah grabbed a form, which was more like a packet of papers, and a pen, and led the two of them over to an area to fill out the form quickly.

"Okay, first we'll start with you," Sarah said, before she filled out literally everything there was to fill out about him; his first, middle, and last name, last name at birth, current city and state of residence, his birthday, and social security number. Sarah filled in both of his parent's names, including his mother's maiden name, Chuck didn't even know that.

"You know my social security number?" Chuck mumbled in shock. Sarah simply smiled to herself; her nerd was learning just how much the government had invaded his life.

"The first thing I did after I was assigned to your protection detail was learn absolutely everything I could about you; obviously some things were hard to find, like your Stanford records, but all your government information was easy to find. Chuck simply nodded in shock.

"I feel like there's an imbalance of knowledge here," Chuck said with a hint of a smile, one which Sarah gave right back to him.

"Just you wait, you'll get to learn a whole bunch of stuff about me in a minute," Sarah said before she flipped the page.

"Okay now it's my turn," Sarah said before she filled in her name as it would appear on her ID. Chuck watched with rapt attention, eager to learn about his future bride.

First Name: Sarah

Middle Name: Lisa

Last Name: Walker

Next, Sarah filled in her last name at the time of her birth, this would be the first real piece of her she'd be sharing with Chuck. Sarah quietly wrote in the name and then filled in her gender and place of residence.

So we will sing
Cast our hopes out to sea
Though our hearts break
Through violent winds, our ship will sail it

"So that's your last name?" Chuck asked as he read the words on the page…

Last Name at Birth: Wilson

"Yes Chuck, when I was born, my name was Magdalena Lisa Wilson." As Sarah said it, she saw Chuck flash, it was a doozy, so she went about filling out more of the form. When Chuck came out of the flash he had to take a moment.

"That bastard Graham," Chuck growled, which caught Sarah's attention.

"What'd you see?" she asked as she set her pen down briefly.

"It was a memo, from Langston Graham, who was the head of the Special Operations Group, of the Special Activities Division, under the Deputy Director of Operations. The memo, dated August of nineteen ninety-four, states that Magdalena Lisa Wilson, age twelve, shows remarkable promise as a potential recruit, and should be observed and profiled for any avenues of possible recruitment into clandestine operations. That bastard had you pegged from the time you were twelve, you never had a chance." Chuck was obviously upset, which touched Sarah.

"As upset as that make me, and as unsurprising as that is to learn about Graham, I don't care one bit; without Langston Graham and his twisted machinations, I would've never met you," Sarah said with a smile, that brought one out of Chuck. The two of them kissed quickly and returned to the form they had to fill out. Sarah quickly checked off never married, and then penciled in her birthday.

Date of Birth (MM/DD/YYYY): 07/30/1982

"You're a July baby," Chuck said happily, which made Sarah giggle and shake her head.

"Yeah, that's when it all happened," she said with a laugh, she felt Chuck encircle her in his arms as she filled out the form. As Sarah filled in her parents' names, she was surprised when Chuck didn't ask about it or say anything. Once all of Sarah's information was filled in, she flipped over to the final page. At the top was a section, that allowed the two parties to change their names. As the two of them looked at the boxes to check, Chuck was afraid to even ask. Sensing Chuck's apprehension, Sarah got a small smile on her face and checked the box that she knew was right.

Party 2 Last Name: Designate New Name… Bartowski

As she wrote in the new name, she felt Chuck tense around her, she knew what he was wondering, what was this going to do to her career, what about her life? Well, Sarah wanted to be a Bartowski, and this was her chance. Sarah quickly filled in Chuck's mailing information and then spun around in his arms, smiling up at him.

"You ready to get this ball rolling?" she asked, Chuck simply gave her a smile and nodded.

I, don't, understand
How this world will work
Cause time will tell us nothing
I'll take a chance on something

"Absolutely," Chuck said happily. The woman at the counter, didn't look too happy to have to do another license so late, but the happy couple got in just under the wire. By twelve oh five in the morning, Chuck Bartowski and Sarah Walker were back in the Maserati, marriage license in hand, ready to tie the knot. It took Sarah no time at all to find a twenty-four-hour wedding chapel. Once they'd paid for their package, they were up at the altar ready to be wed; the man set to wed them, was a much older man wearing a Scottish kilt, while their witness was a fat, Elvis impersonator, as if it couldn't get any more Las Vegas.

Build them up
Build them
This time take you

"Do either of ye, have vows?" the man asked in a strange accent; Chuck and Sarah simply beamed at each other, giggling at the whole situation. Sarah nodded, she hadn't planned on giving any vows, but she was going to.

"Chuck, you are a gift, a gift that for most of my life I wouldn't have felt I deserved. When I came to Burbank and walked into that Buy More eighteen months ago, I was on a dark path. The second I spoke to you, your inherent goodness shone through everything else around you. Your kindness, your generosity, everything that makes you the wonderful man that you are, I saw it all there that first day. You awakened my soul, showed me I could be happy, showed me that I deserve to be happy. So, as we prepare to become husband and wife, I promise you that I will love and cherish all that you are, all that you have done for me. I will hold you in my heart forever," Sarah said tearfully. The man about to wed them, didn't understand her vows, but she didn't give a damn. Chuck looked stunned, and deeply moved by Sarah's vows.

"My god, how do I match that? I can't match that," Chuck stopped and took a breath. "All I can say is, you saved me from a life of misery. I was hiding from the world, and you found me and helped me heal and live again. You came into my life at my lowest point and loved a broken heart back to health, even when you had every reason not to. No matter how much time we have left, I promise you I will spend it loving you as hard as I can, because it will never be enough, I'll never be able to repay what you've done for me. So, I promise to always be there for as long as we have left," Chuck said tearfully as well, Sarah gave him a loving smile.

"Perfect."

Walk these stairs
Put, the pieces, back together

"Okay, do you, Sarah Lisa Walker, take Charles Irving Bartowski, to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?" the man said.

"I do," Sarah said as a lone tear of happiness streaked from the corner of Sarah's eye.

"Do you, Charles Irving Bartowski, take Sarah Lisa Walker, to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?"

"I do," Chuck said as he looked lovingly into Sarah's equally loving eyes.

"Then I, Maximillian Lawrence Pfefferbottom, by the power vested in me from the state of Nevada, do pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride," the man said proudly to the happy couple; Chuck and Sarah quickly closed the distance and captured the other's lips in a searing kiss. They were now husband and wife, Charles and Sarah Bartowski; a union built on love, a union forged in the heartache of loss. No matter what happened to them from here, no matter what the universe threw at them next, Chuck and Sarah would always have this night, they'd always have this moment, they'd always have each other. They were married now, and nobody could take that away from them.

Go, don't stop
Go, don't stop
Go, don't stop
Go don't stop
Now go!

CHARMING'S AUTHOR'S NOTE #4: Isn't it nice to have a happy moment in the story for once? It was one of those things where after Chuck gave his impassioned "You're perfect" speech, a part of me just wanted her to ask him to marry her. In the back of my mind I knew that was kind of abrupt and sudden, but another part of me just totally ran with it and in the end it totally changed the trajectory of this entire story. So now, Chuck and Sarah are now Mr. and Mrs. Bartowski. I thought DC would be very proud of how fast Chuck and Sarah got married in my story, they haven't even gone on a real first day that hasn't been interrupted by gunfire yet, so take that David! But in all seriousness, expect fluff in chapter eight; chapter eight is going to be fluffy, happy, Charah goodness, because these two crazy kids deserve a happy moment dammit! I haven't started writing chapter eight yet, but I expect to do that either Tuesday or Wednesday depending on how much free time I have. I want to keep this momentum going on the story so I can finish this thing up before I have to go back to college.

CHARMING'S AUTHOR'S NOTE #5: So, what'd you think? Chuck and Sarah are married now! All of the same problems still exist for them, but they'll always have this night. What do you think it's going to happen from here on out? Let me know by leaving a review and sharing your thoughts one way or the other.

UNTIL NEXT TIME :D
