Chapter 8: Rooftop lunch.
The next day after his fight and Touma against the graviton bomber yesterday, Kotaru told Konori that he needs a break after what happened yesterday and Konori accepted Kotaru proposal which leads Uiharu, Kuroko, and Konori working to find out the other culprit of the Graviton bomber because the one that Kotaru and Touma catch yesterday wasn't the only graviton bomber culprit after he found out that the satellite detects graviton acceleration near district 15.
On the lunch break while Kotaru is eating his bento on the rooftop alone, Kotaru texted one of Touma's best friend, Tsuchimikado Motoharu to go to the roof of his school because he need to talk with him in because he want to asked something regarding to the bomber yesterday. He can't get it off from his mind that the bomber level isn't accurate from the database.
Tsuchimikado called him using his phone and Kotaru take the phone and saying "Hello Tsuchimikado, I need some help right now."
"What kind of information do you need Kotaru?" Tsuchimikado asked.
"Do you know why some esper power doesn't match with the database?" Kotaru asked to the point didn't want to waste time.
Tsuchimikado paused after Kotaru he heard what Kotaru just said. "Why are you asking me this kind of question Kotaru? Does this have anything to do with the bomber yesterday?"
"Actually yes." Kotaru admitted, "When me and Kamijou-senpai fight against the bomber yesterday, I realized something's wrong with him. I assume that his mental is unstable after I saw how his eyes were violently shaking which is not normal for any humans."
"Hmmmm…" Tsuchimikado mused thinking about it. "If I'm right, this has something to do with the item called level upper."
"Are you seriously thinking that the level upper is real?" Kotaru start to think that the bomber he and Touma beat yesterday has a connection with the level upper.
"Sounds stupid right?" Motoharu agreed with him, "From what I know, so many espers raised their level unnaturally which is really true considering I heard that most of them will fall into a coma sooner or later."
"I guess I should start searching at this 'level upper' after I have a break." Kotaru think he should find out who made this kind of device and sell it to so many espers. "Thanks for the info pal, see you around."
"See you around Kotaru." Tsuchimikado hung up from the call.
Kotaru continued to eat every food on his lunch box one by one. Suddenly, the door opened which made Kotaru reflexively looked at the door and he saw Saten was the one who opened the door.
She walk towards him and asked "Hey Kotaru-kun, can I sit right beside you?" Saten want to eat her lunch with him alone.
"Sure, I don't mind at all Ruiko-chan." Kotaru accepted, then Saten sit down on the right side of Kotaru leaning against the wall.
Both of them eating bento silently enjoy each other's company with the sound of the wind went by on the roof which gives a peaceful vibes to whoever is around there. After a while, Saten asked "Hey, today I'm going to Seventh mist with Uiharu and Misaka-san today." Saten looked at him and continued "Do you want to come with us today?"
Kotaru swallowed the sushi inside his mouth, then replied "Sure I would like to. I'm actually on a break today tried to relieve my stress after facing against the bomber that me and Kamijou-senpai beaten yesterday."
After she heard the word graviton bomber, her mood dropped while she put her left hand on her chest. She still remembered those feeling when the bomber throw the bomb point blank to Kotaru's face. She cannot imagine what would happen if Kotaru wasn't able to react when the bomb goes off at that time which made her scared even more.
Kotaru see that Saten expression become sadden. After a moment of thought, he put his lunch box to his left, use his right hand wrapped around Saten's waist pulling her closer and rested her head on his right shoulder, and then he brought his left hand gently stroke her hair and softly told her "Don't worry Ruiko-chan, I already faced something that is more dangerous than yesterday so you don't need to be worried about my safety." He want to make sure that Saten doesn't have to worried too much.
Saten blushed at the sudden action. While resting her head on his right shoulder, she replied "Even though you say that, I still can't get the weight of my shoulder thinking about your safety."
Kotaru knew that she still worried about him, but he eventually replied "Don't worry, I am still here in one piece. After all, I promised you that I will keep myself safe and sound so you should calm down now."
Saten feel relieved by his words, she replied "Please be careful when you tried to face against that kind of fights again ok?" She still wanted Kotaru to take care of himself so she doesn't have to worry about him that much.
"Okay, I will." Kotaru ruffled her hair for the last time and removed both of his hands from her, but Saten grabbed both of his hands pull it back to the position like before.
"Can we..stay like this for a while?" Saten enjoyed the pampering that Kotaru giving to her so she wanted to stay like that for a moment.
'Wow she's really bold today.' Kotaru want to make her feel comfortable, so he smiled at her softly replied "Of course you can Ruiko-chan, until you finally sattisfied." He used his right hand gripping her waist tighter and use his left hand playing with her hair and he started to enjoying himself looking at Saten face show her cute smile with her eyes closed. 'Man, this felt really nice. I never seen her cute side like this at all." Kotaru thought to himself while he tried to keep the girl feel comfortable.
While all of this happened, Kotaru and Saten didn't know someone has been watching them behind the door that is slightly opened. The one who watching them was Saten friends Muu, Akemi, Makochin, and Uiharu along with Daigo sensei watching as well. They were awed by the sight of Kotaru and Saten together on the rooftop having each other's company, but after a while, they decided to leave them alone up there having their time together alone on the roof.
Kotaru and Saten start to think that this is the time where they finally end their date properly since yesterday the incident didn't finished their date because the bomber's interruption which somehow has made both of them felt satisfied.
