Chapter 15: multiskills and AIM burst
After Kotaru and Sogita left the branch, they immediately flying in the sky, right now Sogita is flying right beside Kotaru who's also flying with a green little kite shaped wings on his back. Kotaru informed Sogita that he's able to track down Uiharu's phone using his virtual watch.
"So, do you find Uiharu's location, hikari? Sogita asked.
"I did," Kotaru confirmed while still looking at his virtual watch, "It looks like she's on the highway right now and still moving, i'm guessing that she's inside Kiyama's car, aaaaand it's the opposite way where we facing right now."
"Then what are we waiting for?" Sogita asked, "Let's go before we're too late, it's not just her on hostage, there's also lives of thousands of comatose espers on her hands!"
"All right, follow me then!" Kotaru replied him while leading themselves to uiharu'ss location.
Meanwhile at the same time, Touma and Misaka were inside the cab after meeting the anti-skill team, they're heading towards where Kiyama is getting predicted by the anti skills.
Misaka is currently fidgeting her body because of her anxiety for Uiharu's safety, she know that Kiyama was only a researcher, but she's worried for Uiharu's safety because there might be a chance that she could become another level upper victim.
Touma saw Misaka is currently feeling worried right now, he guessed that she must have worried for Uiharu's sake, so he put his right hand on her shoulder. When Misaka looked at Touma's face, she saw Touma gave her a soft and a warm smile at her, she think Touma looks cool with that kind of face which made her blush a bit.
"Don't worry Misaka," Touma said reassuringly, then he looked at the road a head of them, he continued, "Uiharu is going to be fine, i'll make sure everyone could walk away from all of this especially for Hikari as well "
"That was really a dreamish goal you know?" Misaka asked.
"It was a dreamish goal, but that was something i must achieve especially when it comes for everyone who needed help." Touma explained, "Everyone I've ever met that did something horrible was misguidedin their life. They convinced themselves that there was no way out of a situation except for whatever terrible path they took. I'm sure Dr. Kiyama is the same."
After that, Touma cluctching his right hand in front of his face after he took his right hand off of misaka's shoulder.
"I don't know what kind of illusion she has to do such thing, but i'll make sure to shatter that fucked up illusion she has!"
After that, Misaka decide to stand up and give Touma a fist bump with her right hand as well, then she said, "Then let me help you shatter that illusion with you."
"Sure thing, Misaka," Touma reply with a smile on his face, "I appreciate your help, let's help each other out then."
They looked at each other, before they got interrupted by an explosion coming from the top of bridge near them, which was where Anti-Skill said they were going to intercept Kiyama.
Kotaru and Sogita is following the direction of where Uiharu's phone was located, but they got interrupted by a loud explosion, when they look where the explosion was coming from, Kotaru realised it was where Uiharu was right now. Seeing this, the two boys flying faster towards the explosion.
When they were arrived on top of the bridge where the explosion happened, they saw that the entire scene was coated with dust clouds that were kicked up by the scuffle. They saw Misaka and Touma coming from the emergency stairs.
"Damn, anti skill got taken care of easily." Kotaru said shocked.
"Who did all of this?" Sogita asked.
"Kuroko says that Kiyama did all of this using the mind of thousands esper." Misaka answered.
"But where is Uiharu now?" Kotaru asked.
Everyone looked around, until Touma saw a blue sport car with someone familiar inside it.
"There she is!" Touma said point out the blue car.
Everyone approach the unconscious Uiharu inside the car, Touma pry oppened the passenger car and he suprised by the fact the handcuffs on her was already opened.
"Is Uiharu-san ok?" Misaka asked worried for her friend.
"Don't worry she's fine." Touma replied, "She's just fall unconscious."
"All of you don't need to worry," a familiar foived called from behind them, "She just caught an aftershock from the fighting and got knocked out. Her life isn't on danger at all."
All of them turn towards the voice, they saw Kiyama standing a few meters behind them musing about the situarion as if nothing happened.
"Misaka Mikoto, Sogita Gunha, and Kotaru Hikari, two of the seven level fives in Academy City and the Judgement Elemental Burst," she said, "Three of you never fought someone like me despite the experince all of you have faced before. Do all of you think you guys could stop me who has the mind of ten thousand espers?"
"Kamijou-Senpai, please make sure Uiharu is okay," Kotaru said as he spawned his badminton racket, "Leave her to three of us okay?"
"Okay, just be careful," Touma replied back, "We don't know hoe many power she has in control."
"No problem at all." Misaka said before both three of them charge in.
"Of course we could take her on!" Both Kotaru, Misaka, and Sogita said in a unison.
Kiyama instantly used one of the abilty, she carved the slab of the aspalt below three of them, Misaka luckily manage to step off the slab before the slab fall, Sogita sidestepped to the right instanly while Kotaru jumped high to the sky.
Kotaru used his wind energy to boosted himself towards Kiyama, infused his racket with his fire element and swing the racket on his right hand downwards to where Kiyama was standing, Kiyama immediately create an energy blade on her right hand and used it to block Kotaru's attack, but she got knockback from Kotaru's attack with Kotaru jump backwards get i
"I didn't expect for you to be that strong, Hikari." Kiyama said, "But will you even be able to fight against my multi skill?"
After she said that, she create a blade made of air sliced it to the ground. Kotaru infuse his racket with his wind power and blocked it's attacked, but he got pushed back, while misaka and Sogita sidestepped, after Misaka sidestepped, Kotaru manage to swing his racket to stop the attack.
"I don't care what it's called, all i have to do is the same!" Misaka said before she throw an electric spear towards Kiyama, but got blocked by Kiyama using another ability, she used some sort of invisible force field that surrounded Kiyama herself, made Misaka suprised.
"How about this then," Sogita said with red aura flowing around him, Sogita get into his stance, and said "AMAZING PUNCH!" After he said that, Sogita sent a devasasting energy towards Kiyama, when the beam reach her, suprisingly it's only shatter the invicible force field around her.
"Not bad at all," Kiyama said mockingly,"But don't think i couldn't use multiple power at the same time."
Kiyama followed up her defense with a shockwave that collapsed the section of the bridge they were standing on. Rubble crashed to the ground while Kiyama gently floated down. On the other hand, Sogita land on the ground with no problem at all, Misaka used her magnetism anf Kotaru slowly flying down.
'She's really crazy,' Misaka said on her mind, 'she didn't even hestitate to use her power even if it's going to hurt her.'
"It dissapoint me," kiyama said looking at Misaka, "Is this all you got as a level 5?"
Misaka immediately used her electromagnetism to pull a chuck off of the support column and threw it at the doctor because she's pissed of her insult. Kiyama create a energy sword in response to sliced the rock to the bits, but she didn't expect another incoming attack coming from Kotaru, Kotaru throw his fire, elecro, and wind infused racket towards Kiyama from Kiyama right side and she immediately blocked the racket with the energy sword and knocked the racket to the side, but Kotaru move towards her so fast using his electro power to boosted his speed and immediately land a punch on Kiyama's stomach and knock her back a few meters but she's still standing on the ground. Misaka and Sogita came closer to
"That was really good Hikari, and what are you gonna do once you beat me?" Kiyama asked.
"Simple, i'll make sure to take you into custody!" Kotaru said gather a vortex in front of him using his left hand.
"I'm with Hikari-san in this one!" Misaka said while kneeling down right beside Kotaru to manipulate iron sand around her.
"I agree, i'll show u how gutsy we really are!" Sogita said, lowering his stance to charge his attack and yelled "SUPER AMAZING PUNCH!"
Kotaru launch his fire swirled vortex beam along with Misaka iron sand and Sogita red beam launch towards Kiyama.
Seeing how powerful they attack combined, Kiyama immediately used so many rubble around her to use it as a shield and it destroy all the ruble into dusts.
"Sorry but i won't let myself to get captured just yet." Kiyama said.
Kiyama used another power, she sent three trash can full of empty cans flying above them, Kotaru and Misaka recognized that it's the graviton bomb attack.
"Sogita, those are the graviton bomb attack!" Kotaru informed the captain judgement, "Make sure to destroy all of them or they will hurt you so much!"
"Thanks for the information Hikari!" Sogita said before he take swallowed an absurd amount of air, and immediately let out all of them towards the empty cans. Most of the empty cans flew high to the sky and blew up, but some of them didn't get blown to the sky, so Kotaru and Misaka immediately used their electricity to destroy the bomb with Misaka throw a lightning spear towards the empty can and Kotaru hold his left arm using his right hand and used all of his left hand finger to throw 5 electricity flowing from his fingers before it reaches them.
"That's amazing, but.." She said while teleported an empty can 2 meters behind Kotaru, Misaka, and Sogita.
"That was really easy." Kotaru mocked.
"I agree, now let's-" Was all Misaka could say before he got interrupted by Touma's voice running towards them.
"Watch out, Behind you!" Touma said while he's running approach them.
They looked behind and they saw a can was about to explode, but Touma manage to get in front of them and blocked the explosion with his right hand, the sound of the explosion echo around the area made a shattering glass sound from Touma's right hand got masked with it, but the explosion made a large amount of smoke clouds.
"Well these guys did better than i expected, but still, is this the power of level 5?" Kiyama asked as she walked out from the smoke clouds, "I really thought both of you could do better against me."
Kiyama continue to walked away, but suddenly someone grabbed her from behind.
"Gotcha!" Kotaru and Misaka said while they grabbed Kiyama.
"What the, Impossible!" Kiyama said in shock. She looked back to see Touma and Sogita walked from the smoke clouds.
"You already lost Kiyama-san, you left your guard open there." Sogita said crossing his arm while approach the fight with Touma on his right side.
"Important rules when you fight someone: Make sure your opponent is in no condition to fight." Touma quipped.
"Both of us will shocked you point blank now!" Misaka said, " Our powers won't work against that idiot over here, but i know for a fact you don't even his power at all!"
"I'll make sure to shocked you very badly!" Kotaru said, he started to sparking a little bit.
"Not to mention, it's impossible." Touma added.
Kiyama immediately manipulate earth around her and attack Kotaru and Midaka with multiple syone spear. However, Touma immediately rushed and negate all of the stone spear with his right hand. Kiyama suprised when the stone spear suddenly got negated and she heard the sound of the glass shattering when Touma touch them. But Kiyama immediately got shocked with several volts by Kotaru and Misaka. When they stopped, Kotaru let go of her and immediately fall only to get held by Misaka.
"That was some amazing show both of you showed to me just now." Sogita said walked closer to both Kotaru and Misaka.
"But don't you two think you went too far?" Touma asked
"Both of us still holding back okay?" Kotaru and Misaka defended.
Suddenly, Kotaru and Misaka heard so many voice of children that kept saying the word 'teacher'.
"Did you heard that?" Misaka asked.
"Hear what?" Touma and Sogita tilted their head in confusion.
"I think both of us accidentally created an electrical current that allowed us to see her memories." Kotaru guessed.
From Kiyama's memories, Kotaru and Misaka saw the images of several children who appeared to be Child Errors and Kiyama's students as part of an experiment. She saw them shower Kiyama with kindness and affection, and Kiyama grew to do the same for them. However, the memories turned sour when an experiment went wrong with all of the children were put into comas. The man in charge of the experiment, someone by the name of Kihara, ordered that the experiment remain under wraps, not even getting the children medical treatment. The sight shocked Misaka to her very core, causing her to drop Kiyama on the ground while Kotaru fall to the back landing his butt to the ground.
"What in the world was that?" Misaka asked.
"Are you two okay?" Touma asked in concern.
"We litteraly saw he memories, what in the world was that experiment!?" Kotaru asked with disbelieve.
"So you two saw my memories?" Kiyama groaned as she picked herself up.
At that time, Uiharu woke up from the shock. She exited the car and saw so many damages around her and wondered what could be the reason of all the damage that happened here. Suddenly, she heard a groan coming from under the bridge, she's kneeling down, she saw Kotaru, Touma, Misaka, and Sogita standing over a struggling Kiyama. Uiharu decide to keep quiet and try to listen to the conversation that eas sbout to happen.
"What were they doing?" Misaka asked, mentioning about the memory she just saw.
She stand up and turned around as dhe explain the story, "On the record of off of it, officially it was designed to test controlling AIM diffusion fields," Kiyama explained, "but the real study was on the effects of pushing an ability beyond its natural limit."
"What..." Touma asked in disbelieve, clenching his fist.
"What are you talking about?" Sogita asked, put down his hand.
"They overstimulated the children's AIM diffusion fields in order to study run away abilities first hand," Kiyama continued.
"Then..." Mikoto said with shocked realization.
"So what you're saying was..." Kotaru said in realization.
"Yes, they were intentionally manipulated to run out of control," Kiyama confirmed, "but I didn't realize what was going on until it already happened!"
"Experiment using kids!?" Touma started to get angry with him clutching his fist.
"Those children are still not woken up in this whole time." Kiyama revealed while dhe began to yell, "we stole their youth from them and used them as a rat labs!"
"This must be the work of the dark side of Academy City!" Sogita said, he knows where this came from.
"Dark side you say?" Kotaru repeated what Sogita just said.
"Have you ever asked the Anti-skill for help?" Misaka asked
"23 Times! I've requested that many to use the tree diagram in order to find a medicine and the fail simulation of them." Kiyama answered, "If i have the power to access the tree diagram, i could use it to find a way to retrieve them! Tree Diagram is the greatest computer in Academy City, if I had it I could have brought those children back! I could have set them free to laugh and run and play in the park like children are supposed to, but I was always turned down! Twenty-three times, they said 'No'! Don't you get it? Even the board of directors was in on it! There's no way Anti-Skill would act!"
"There must be another way to do that!" Touma insisted, "There hase to be some way than this level upper mess!"
"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND AT ALL!" Kiyama suddenly yelled caught the students off guard, "I'll do anything to save those children anything in the entire world. The whole city can hate and revile me, I don't care! I'm not going to let anything stop me now!"
Suddenly, she felt a tremendous ammount of pain, she screamed in pain towards the sky, something's not right at all.
"Are you okay?" Misaka asked suddenly worried for Kiyama.
Kotaru and Sogita let their guard up, something's bad is goin to happen.
"The network," Kiyama said while fight her pain, "It's out of control."
"Everyone be careful!" Sogita said warned his partners, "Something's coming out!"
As soon as he said that, the doctor collapsed on the ground, landing on the ground face first. A light that appeared to move like liquid emerged from the back of the doctor's head before spiraling upward and taking shape. The end result was something that resembled a fetus with a halo above its head and tentacles of green light trailing from its back. It opened its eyes, revealing a pair of red, white, and yellow eyes that appeared almost human. It then let out an ear-piercing scream, like a baby in pain.
At the 177th judgement branch, Konori and Kuroko is frustated because of the fight that happened, All cameras went dead. To make it worse, Kuroko can't called Sogita, Touma, Kotaru, and Misaka because her phone wasn't connecting either, so they had no way of knowing what was going on at the scene. Not wanting to just sit by and wait for the end result, Kuroko attempted herself to leave and go to the scene herself, but Konori stopped her.
"Onee-sama is in danger, i can't let myself just stay her at all, Konori-senpai!" Kuroko insisted while she twitched because of her pain.
"I know you want to help them, but do you think you're in any condition to help them especially you're still injured?" Konori asked.
"Well, i.."
"Listen, Misaka-san isn't alone at all, she's with Sogita-san, the 7th rank level 5 and also our current judgement captain, and also Kamijou-san who could negate our powers, and lastly Our Hikari-san, a level 0 who possesed a Vision that let him manipulate fire, wind, and electricity, so she should be fine, because all of them were with her." Konori said firmly, try to make Kuroko calmed down.
Completely left without words, all Kuroko could do was look at the now static filled camera feed in worry. She know that her senpai was right those boys are with her Onee-sama, but she can't helped herself worry about her safety at all.
Everyone in the field excluding Kiyama who has knocked on the ground, was shocked by what they saw right now, they never seen anything like this before. It appears that they saw a giant fetus made from a pure energy.
"What the!?" Sogita said with a sweat running through his body.
"What is that thing!?" Touma and Kotaru asked to nobody.
"It looks like a Metamorpho skill," Misaka guessed, "I've heard about it before, so I guess it's real."
Suddenly, the monster let out another scream, this time releasing a shockwave and some sort of energy attack, Touma immediately get in front of Misaka and block it's attack while Kotaru create a fire shield along with Sogita create an energy shield in front of them. This was followed by Misaka fired back an electricity, but they suprised when the chunk grew back along with the monster added two more hands and the monster grew larger twice of it's original size.
"That thing could regenerate itself!?" Kotaru asked in disbelieve.
"Not inly that, it's getting bigger as well!" Misaka observed.
"You said this thing might be a result of an ability, right?" Touma asked, "If it really does, my right hand should be able to negate it."
Touma instantly run towards the monster, he threw a punch to the monster, but Touma didn't expect that the monster backed away dodging his attack. This was followed by one of the light tentacles swinging to Touma's waist and knock him away from the monster and rolling on the ground until he stopped a feet away from the others.
"Are you okay?" Misaka asked worried as she helped him get up in his feet.
"I've been hit way worse than this," Touma answered, "Why did that thing was actively avoiding my right hand?"
Everyone got no time to think about the monster behavior because the monster suddenly turned it's attention towards Touma and Misaka and created several giant crystal shards from thin air. Seeing this, Kotaru get in front of them and sent out so many wind flows and made the several giant crystal sent back to the sender, but the monster instantly create some sort of invisible force around it and destroy those crystals.
"Damn it," Kotsru cursed, "It has an invicible force around it as well."
"Guys, over here!" A voice called out from behind them.
Everyone turned around and saw Uiharu peeking out from behind one of the support columns. However, the monster create a giant fireball and fired it towards the four students. Kotaru suddenly looked back to where the monster was, when he saw a giant fireball coming towards them, Kotaru instanly covered himself with his electricity power, jump towards the fireball and kicked it to the sky, and the fire ball explode in the sky.
"Kamijou-senpai, Misaka," Kotaru called out as he land on the ground, "You two get Uiharu to safety while me and Sogita take care of this monster until Uiharu was in a safe place okay?"
"Okay, but make sure you're still alive, Hikari-san!" Misaka replied.
"No promises," Kotaru said as he spawned his badminton tacket on his right hand.
Sogita walked closer to the right side of Kotaru, he lower himself to his stance as he asked Kotaru, "So, are you ready to show this monster our guts, Hikari?"
"Sure thing Sogita," Kotaru answered him, "This thing might have guts, but our guts is litteraly greater than his."
"HAHAHA, well said Hikari, now let's do this!" As soon as Sogita said that, Sogita charged towards the monster followed by Kotaru behind Sogita.
While Kotaru and Sogita fight against the monster Touma, Misaka and Uiharu approach Kiyama who's on her knees on the ground, they asked what is the thing Kotaru and Sogita is currently fighting in the distance right now and the doctor revealed that it was a collection of AIM diffusion field which is called an AIM burst that used the mind of 10 thousand esper as a catalyst to bring to life a monster of latent consciousness.
Now Touma, along with Misaka and Uiharu suddenly realised why the monster dodging Touma's right hand because it was the thought of Saten who knows about Touma's right hand power. Kiyama asked why his hand is so special and Uiharu explained that his right hand could negate any esper abilities when it got touch with his right hand.
Misaka asked Kiyama if there was a way to cut off the energy supply that was inside the monster, but Kiyama said to the three students that they won't believe what she says, but the student insisted and somehow, Kiyama sees one of her comatose students face when she looked at Uiharu. So she say there might be a way by bringing down the network.
"Wait, the level upper treatment program," Uiharu realized, pulling a small microchip out form her pocket.
"It might not 100% worked at all, but at least it's worth a shot," Kiyama added.
"Allright then, i'll join Hikari-san and Sogita-san fighting the Aim Burst while you two get that program to Anti-Skill!" Misaka said, looking at the intense fight of the AIM Burst facing Kotaru and Sogita in the distance.
"Not so fast Biri-Biri," Touma interrupted, "I know that monster will try to avoid my right hand when i try to attack it, but it doesn't mean i can't hit them for once and it still be good for us buy some time to worked the treatment program."
"Fine you win, but make sure to watch my back okay?" Misaka replied with a smirk on her face, she know that Touma will fight the enemy as well.
"That's the idea, Misaka." Touma said, smirking back at Misaka.
"Alright then, let's do this now!" Uiharu said cheerfully.
After that, Touma run towards the Anti-skill who is currently support Sogita and Kotaru who's been fighting against the AIM Burst for a long time followed by the girls behind him, but splitted up to do their individual tasks. Meanwhile, Kiyama stayed behind, admiring the students that had taken in upon themselves to fix everything. It was hard to believe, but there were still people out there that would trust others without any reason to.
Touma and Misaka finally arrived where the Anti-Skill was supporting Kotaru and Sogita, Touma punched the tentacle that knocked Tessou and causing the AIM Burst to scream in pain. Tessuo looked to the right and saw Misaka used her ability to manipulate girder into knocking her away.
"Why were you just standing there?" Misaka asked, "That monster could have killed you!"
"Who are you?" Tessou asked, ignored Misaka question, "A civilian shouldn't be here! It's too dangerous!"
"Why does everyone called me a normal Civillian, it's getting annoying, ya know." Misaka said with annoyed tone.
"Whatever, but please get away from here now!" Tessou argue back.
"Both of you stop arguing, we have a bigger problem now!" Touma said blocking the tentacle that was about to attack Misaka and Tessou that wasn't paying attention at all.
"He's right. You're the ones that should get away from here," Misaka explained, "That thing wouldn't come this way unless you provoke it with more shooting especially Sogita-san and Hikari-san was fighting that thing right now."
"But we can't just let both of them fight that thing alone." Yomikawa interrupted
"Yomikawa-sensei?!" Touma yelled in worry as he crouched down to check on his teacher, "Are you alright?"
"Don't worry about me, Kamijou," Yomikawa insisted, she point her fingers towards a white building, "There was a nuclear reactor there."
"What?!" Touma and Misaka yelled in unison.
"Hey, what's that girl doing?" Tessou yelled.
Looking over to where Tessou was looking, everyone saw, Uiharu running up the maintenance stairs. It took her a moment, but Yomikawa recognized her easily.
"Hey, that's the girl Doctor Kiyama was holding hostage," Yomikawa observed, "She sure is taking her time getting away."
"She's not getting away," Touma corrected.
"Uiharu-san is no longer a hostage and she's not running away," Misaka explained, "We need to ask a favor from both of you."
"Man how long this thing is gonna be defeated?" Kotaru lamented.
"This thing keeps regenerating itself no matter how many tentacles we have to destroy." Sogita complained.
In a flash, The AIM Burst just throw a invisible yet fast tiny wind slash and it went through Kotaru's Right arm which made , not only that, Kotaru immediately jumped to the sky when he saw one of the tentacle attacked him, the first tentacle hit the ground but he failed to notice the second tentacle that hit Kotaru in the air and knocked him a few meters and rolling on the ground until he stopped rolling.
"Hikari!" Sogita yelled, worried about Kotaru's condition.
The AIM burst swing it's tentacle towards Sogita, but the tentacle stopped midway and got cutted by Misaka's lightning strike, but it regenerated back.
"Sogita-san, you helped Hikari-san now! Let both of us take care of this thing now!" Misaka said with her and Touma appeared in front of him.
"Alright then," Sogita replied back, "You guys be careful! This thing never stopped at all."
"Don't worry about us, go helped Hikari, he's injured right now." Touma replied.
Sogita gave a nod to Misaka and Touma before he went to where Kotaru was knocked to.
"Ouch, that thing really got me good." Kotaru said while he try to pick himself up. His body was covered by a lot of bruises especially his right arm, it has a small hole in his right arm.
Kotaru still struggling to be on his feet, suddenly Sogita show up and made Kotaru left hand wrapped around Sogita's shoulder and being grabbed with Sogita's left arm, and Sogita wrapped his right arm around Kotaru's back which made Kotaru able to ease his burden a bit.
"Hey sogita," Kotaru began to talk with a weak tone, "How's that monster now?"
"Misaka-san and Kamijou-san is currently fighting that monster, but i somehow felt like that thing was aiming something." Sogita answered.
"Same for me, but what in the world was this thing targeting now?" Kotaru asked.
Despite the intense battle between the AIM burst against Touma and Misaka, Kotaru looked at Uiharu where she's climbing at the emergency stairs, he got a bad ferling something's gonna happened, so Kotaru told Sogita, "Sogita, let me sit on the ground and go with Uiharu now! I start to feel something's bad gonna happened at her!"
"Wait, what about you?" Sogita asked.
"Don't worry about me! Just put me down to the ground because i should be fine and go help her, NOW!" Kotaru insisted.
Sogita is still worried at Kotaru since he's still in a bad shape, but he can't help but admit that he's right about something bad is gonna happen at Uiharu, so he put down Kotaru to the ground that made him sit down on the ground and hurried himself to wherr Uihsru was right now at an incredible speed.
Kotaru jinxed it, Kotaru saw a stray blast that was coming from the AIM burst that was shooting multiple energy blast towards Touma who's blocking the energy attack with Misaka behind him. Kotaru looked to the left and saw Sogita manage to get to where Uiharu was right now and create a energy shield in order to block the blast, the shield shattered into pieces after the blast made contact with Sogita's shield, but the blast somrhow manage to go through his shield and melted the stairs where they're standing right now. Acting quickly, Sogita placed his right arm under Uiharu's knees and wrapped his left hand behind her back, which msde Sogita princess carried Uiharu in his arm and instantly jump to the sky in order to get on the top of the bridge.
"Hey are you okay, Uiharu?" Sogita asked.
"Y-Yeah, i'm okay, t-t-thank's S-Sogita-san." Uiharu answered but she's stuttered because she didn't expect Sogita princess carrying her now, her also reddened because she somehow enjoyed the feeling of being princess carried by Sogita. Kotaru saw that Sogita was princess carrying Uiharu right now which made him smirked, he might would like to tease her later.
Suddenly another blast coming after them and Sogita didn't realized it until Uiharu tell him, but the blast is already close to them, but the blast was blocked by Yomikawa and Tessou had defended her with a blast shield and were informed about the Level Upper treatment program. The two Anti-Skill Officers along with Sogita were determined to cover her until she could put the program to use, but Sogita put down Uiharu to the ground first. After that, they prepare themselves when the monster began to charge another attack. However, the attack never came as the top of the AIM Burst was blasted apart by a bolt of lightning.
"That must be Misaka's attack," Kotaru guessed, he looked to the right and no realized what was behind Touma and Misaka, "That's a nuclear reactor! Who the hell build a nuclear reactor here of all place?!"
Kotatu ttied to get himself up, but he's twitching the pain all over his body and he instantly fall to the ground again.
"Looks like i can't help you guys right now," Kotaru muttered, holdong his right arm that has a hole in it, "Good luck all of you, finish these fights now!"
Kotaru saw that Misaka and Touma has a good synergy fighting the AIM Burst, Touma acts like a shield where he block and negate sny attack that's coming at them while Misaka acts like a sword where she keeps offensive so she keep attacking the AIM Burst.
Even thought Touma and Misaka made a good teamwork, the battle didn't went good at all because the AIM burst keep getting closer to the nuclear reactor no matter how many times they attack the AIM butst because the AIM burst keep regenerating itself everytime it got cut or it got wounded.
When the AIM burst throw so many shard at Misaka, she was forced to dodge it, but she got caught at her ankle by the AIM burst and swinging her around before it decide to tossed her away. Touma rushed over to the flying Misaka, by some miracle, he was able to catch her just in time before she hit the ground, but not without skidding across the ground on his back himself.
Kotaru saw from afar that Misaka dragged Touma climb the power plant to took the final stand, Kotatu decide to get up from his spot and using his racket as a handler to support him to approach them slowly.
Suddenly Kotaru heard some kind of music, he didn't know what kind of music that was, but when Kotaru saw Touma and Misaka was grabbed by the AIM Burst, he saw that Touma destroy the tentacle that was grabbing him and the tentacle didn't grew back which he assume that this music was a music to destroy this monster.
Kotaru try to shoot a fire blast with his right hand, he try to endure the pain on his right hand but he was able to shoot the fire blast towards the AIM Burst along with Misaka let out a surge amount of electricity at the AIM burst ehich made it Scream in pain through the air. After that, the AIM Burst was burnt into a crisps, Kotaru walked closer at Touma and Misaka where they stand right now.
"That was really close eh, Senpai?" Kotaru asked.
"Haha deffinitely," Touma agree, "But you shouldn't be reckless right now, you're almost in no condition to fight at all."
"Don't relax," Kiyama yelled, "It's not over yet."
"What are you doing here?" Misaka asked.
The student was shocked when they look at the AIM burst, it's still alive even after it got shocked by Misaka's billion volts.
"You gotta be kidding me!" Touma complained, he raised his right arm in front of Misaka and Kotaru.
"What should we do in order to stopped this thing?" Misaka asked.
"The nucleus! There has to be a nucleus where the fields have become embedded somewhere inside," Kiyama deduced, "That's the key! Find a way to destroy it!"
Before they have a plan, the AIM burst suddenly talked, It spoke in the voices of all the Level Upper victims, lamenting about their broken hopes of becoming Espers. Kotaru expression suddenly saddened because He heard Ruiko's voice along with the other victims was there eith Touma also put down his right hand because he can't fight against something that sounded so sad, scared, and innocent.
"Hey Kamijou, Hikari-san," Misaka began to talk, "I'll take it from here. You two make sure Dr. Kiyama stays away from danger."
"But.." Touma began to argue, but was cut off by Kotaru's right hand grabbing Touma's shoulder.
"Let Misaka finish this," Kotaru said, "We already play our parts, just let her do it."
Somehow, Touma saw a sad expression in his face saying that he don't want to face this monster now, so Touma conceded "Allright then, let's go Hikari."
Kotaru gave him a nod before Touma helped Kotaru walked a bit faster and bring Kiyama with them. Kiyama don't care if her life is in danger now, but Touma insisted if she want to see the kids again, she have to stay alive.
Then Misaka use het Lightning strike, using it's heat to burned the monster skin. When the electricity stopped, the monster combined several tentacles to create a sort of arm. It brought the arm down on Misaka, but she simply used the surrounding iron sand to slice it apart. When the arm failed, the AIM Burst tried using the crystal shards again, but the shards were blocked and shattered by the vortex of iron sand Misaka had surrounded herself in. The entire time, Misaka asked for forgiveness from all of the Espers whose thoughts made up the monster for being so insensitive about them being powerless.
Kiyama was in awe, looking at Misaka power. She realized that Misaka wasn't even using her full power when Misaka faced off with Kiyama. While on the other hand, Touma is happy that Misaka didn't use that kind of power against him for once, but Touma also tried to cheer Kotaru because they also heard Ruiko's voice coming from the monster as well.
"Ruiko-chan," Kotaru began to talk to himself, "After everything is over, i would like to talk with you together, just the two of us."
Touma indeed heard what Kotaru said, so he figured that Kotaru want some private time with Ruiko later. They saw Misaka picked her coin from her pocket and flicked them to the sky.
"I understand, but this doesn't have to be it. You can keep trying," Misaka said try to encourage the esper inside the AIM Burst, hoping the Esper behind it's creation could hear her, "Don't stay here and let yourself be defeated. You are not defective, there's nothing wrong with you, so don't give up and started again fron zero!"
As soon as the coin fell, Misaka flicked it forward and fired her ultimate weapon, her railgun. The coin shot forward, appearing as some sort of orange laser, and flew cleanly through the AIM Burst. The blast flew out the other side of the monster taking with it a red triangular prism, the nucleus, which promptly shattered. With the nucleus destroyed, the AIM Burst began to disintegrate, disappearing in multiple streams of green light. With that, it's over.
"So that's it, huh?" Kiyama said, on her knees.
"Yup," Touma mused, "That's a level 5."
"At long last," Kotaru said relaxly, "It's over." Kotaru really glad that the fight was already over.
Later that day, Powered Suits arrived on the scene to secure the power plant and make sure no damage had fallen on the facility. Kotaru wound has been bandaged by a medic team. At the same time, additional Anti-Skill personal arrived to take Dr. Kiyama into custody. The doctor was already in handcuffs and being led into a van when Touma interrupted.
"Wait a minute," Touma interrupted, "What are you gonna do now with those chuldren?" Touma asked.
"I have no intention of giving up," Kiyama said with a small smile, "I'll just have to try again. It doesn't matter if I'm in a laboratory, or a prison cell. They can lock me up, but they won't be able stop me from planning. However, I'm still not going to be choosy about my methods. If you don't like the plan I come up with, you'll have to come and try stop me again."
"But if we liked the method, let us helped you out whether you liked it or not Doctor Kiyama." Kotaru added.
"Don't worry about those kids maam," Sogita interrupted, "Next time i'll make sure to show those twisted scientisyt their lack of guts towards those kids."
"I appreciate your help kids." Kiyama said with a smile.
The student watch the doctor enter the anti-skill van and was taken away. One thing was for sure, Kiyama wasn't going to stop taking the most direct path when it came to accomplishing her goals, whether it was saving her students or dealing with stained clothes on her way saving those kids.
As soon as the van left, a taxi pulled up in front of the group with a screeching halt. They saw Kuroko got out from the taxi and teleported herself and tackled Misaka with a hug fall to the ground.
"Here we go again." Kotaru sighed along with Touma and Uiharu laugh stiffly while Sogita laugh normally.
"Oh yeah i almost forgot," Kuroko said looked at Uiharu and Kotaru want to informed something, "I got called by the hospital just now, every level upper user has woken up, that's including Saten-san."
Hearing this, Kotaru didn't waste his time and immediately fly towards the hospital where Ruiko was in a flash.
"Hikari-san!" Uiharu called at Kotaru who immediately fly away leaving the groups.
"Should we chase him now?" Sogita asked.
"No, don't rush away." Touma interrupted, "It looks like he needs a private time with Saten-san."
"I guess we should follow him, but slowly." Misaka conceded.
"Okay, let's go then." Sogita said.
The group made their way to the hospital afterwards.
Ruiko is standing on top of the Hospital building along with Junto (Kotaru's seelie pet)flying beside her, she held her hand in front of her, remembered the times when she used the power when she used the level upper. She knows that power is great to have, but she also glad that it was gone. The seelie
"Ruiko-chan!" A voice called her.
Ruiko turned to where the voice was coming from, she saw Kotaru on the air in front of them. Once Kotaru land on the roof and run towards Ruiko and pulled her into a hug, he's relieved to see her in a good condition now, all his worry that weight his shoulder is finally gone. On the other hand, Ruiko saw how many bruises on Kotaru's body especially his right hand that is covered by a bandage, Ruiko realised how important Kotaru was in her life, he try to save her no matter what happened to him. When she got hugged by Kotaru, Ruiko wrapped her arms behind him returning tur embrace.
"You learned your lesson yet, you naughty girl?" Kotaru teased.
"Yeah i did," Ruiko answered, "Thank you so much Kotaru-kun, you got hurt so much in order to save my life, thank you."
"You're welcome Ruiko chan." Kotaru replied, he pulled ruiko closer to him, putting his right hand behind her head and the other hand behind her back as well before he continued, "You know, i can't stop worried about you at all after you went into a coma, you were suffering so much and used the level upper desperately in order to get a power for yourself. I don't want to see you suffer like this again, i will help you to seek the power you really want in your life no matter how long it would take okay?"
After Kotaru says that, Ruiko began to cry show a tears of joy flowing on her face. She burried her face on Kotaru's chest, she's happy that Kotaru's willing to be on her side to help her find a power that she seeks in her life. She's really happy to meet Kotaru in her life.
After she stopped crying, she looked at Kotaru face looking at her happily. Both of them subconsciously lean their face closer and they kissed each other and close their eyes as they keep kissing. The seelie immediately turned around, the seelie also change color from a flowing dark blue color into a bright red color because Junto embarassed to see the pair kissing in front of him.
The pair continued kissing for a few seconds before they separated, both of them flusterd with their face reddened for what they just did but still happy they did it. Both of them leaned their forehead against each other looking at each other as well.
"I love you, Kotaru-kun." Ruiko said at him.
"I love you too, Ruiko chan." Kotaru replied her back as well.
Kotaru grabbed both of Ruiko's hand and caressed them with his thumb for a while. Unfortunately, they separated instantly when they heard someone's running from behind the door on top of the hospital.
"Saten-san!" Uiharu called her when she opened the door.
The pair looked at Uiharu who's catching her breath. Ruiko decide to hugged Uiharu because she saw her best friend got a bandage on her right leg. Touma, Kuroko, Misaka, and Sogita is stood by the door, they watched Uiharu and Saten reconcile a few meters away. When the two friends started one of their playful arguments after Saten flipped Uiharu's skirt, one thing was made abundantly clear.
"GYAAAAAAAAAH!" Uiharu screamed, "Why did you do that Saten-san?! You just wake up too!"
"Our Ruiko-chan is back!" Kotaru declared before he went laughing at the scene that happened.
"With this, the case is finished.' Kuroko declared.
However, Touma, Misaka, and Sogita both three of them looked at the ground in a rather sullen manner, lost in thought.
"What's the matter?" Kuroko asked, noticed her friends behavior.
"Huh?" Touma replied.
"No, nothing at all." Misaka added.
"Can we really blame the people that used the Level Upper for making the chose they did?" Kuroko asked, reading her friends like open books, "My we are responsible for all this, we Espers who didn't realize how much pain they were in. How hard it must be to live here and not have an ability. That's what you three were thinking, or something along those lines, am I right?"
"You got us, Shirai-san." Touma admitted.
"I admit, i feel bad to those who desperately stucked at low level," Sogita said, "Especially since i'm a gemstone, who have a power since i was borned in this world feel bat to their jealousy."
"So that explain why you somehow manage to catch my 30% railgun only with your teeth, man you're strong." Misaka replied, "But yeah you're right Kuroko. Also you were able to keep your promise to make sure everyone made out with a smile."
"Of course i did," Touma said nonchalantly, "That's what i always aim when i try to save people."
"You really are an amazing person, Kamijou." Sogita replied, "I would love to fight you another time, so you have prepare yourself when i come at you."
"Great, not only biri-biri want to fight me, Sogita also want to fight me as well, Such Misfortune." Touma lamented.
"You two were looked alike with both of you show kindness to everyone, "Also there is something i want you to realize onee-sama, that is my feelings towards you." Kuroko get closer to her leaning in for a kiss.
"Here we go again." Touma lamented with a stiff smile.
"I should thank you, Kuroko," Misaka said dangerously as she covered Kuroko's mouth with her hand, "Your unrelentingly, unapologetically, perverted nature has given me some of my strength back!"
She began to spark that made Touma stepped back before Misaka zapped Kuroko, but the spark somehow went to Touma as well as he hold his right hand in front of him blocking Misaka attacks and screaming 'SUCH MISFORTUNE' along with Sogita is laughing at the scene in front of him. Kotaru, Ruiko, and Uiharu ran up to their friends, laughing, ready to join in on their antics. Everything truly was indeed was back to normal.
