Chapter 1: Welcome to Reflet Town
It is now in the morning, as the twins slowly made their way out of a forest. Apparently, they're now on what appears to be a main road. Which has three paths."I believe we lost them now." Magalyn thinks, catching her breath. "And I hope for good this time."
"As long as we're far away from them, I agree." Davenas nods, also catching his breath. "At least, for now."
"Huh? I think we found the road." The younger twin guesses before realizing something. "If you believe they won't find us again for now, do you think so?"
"We've been running our whole lives in the wilderness for these last few years, Magalyn." He eye rolls. "The last place those wraiths will look for us would be in either a town or city."
"I still wonder who that mysterious figure was the other night." She wonders. "And what exactly was that strange red orb?"
"I have no idea." He answers. "But hopefully that's the last time we see that thing."
"Don't count on it." She doubts. "I get the strangest feeling that we'll see it again. Very soon."
"Always doubting me since we were five, sister." He shakes his head, starting to walk down the road. "But anyway, if we can't go back to Middle Earth for awhile, we will need to begin a new life in wherever we are now."
"At least we won't have to worry about that. Look." She points at a nearby sign.
As they walk up to it, the three signs on the single wooden pole is written in a language they've never seen before.
"Well, this is problematic." Her brother comments. "Guess we are in foreign lands after all. And to think we're the only inhabitants to set foot here."
"You know, I'm not even sure that they speak the language we know."
"Well, only one way to find out." The older twin told his sister, as they decided to follow the road.
"Wait!" She grabs him by the shoulder, stopping him. "We don't even know which of the three roads before us to take."
"We can go by instinct." He told her.
"Like the last town we were in, when you entered a brothel and mistook it for a tavern?" Magalyn questions, raising an eyebrow.
"One of the travelers we passed by mentioned that the prices of food where reasonable!" Davenas argued at her.
"Suuuurrre." The strawberry blond girl sarcastically replies. "Keep telling yourself that, Davenas."
"We really need to find ourselves a tutor. And fast." The brunette boy groans, slouching his head and upper body down. "I don't want to cause any more misunderstanding."
"Like also the time we were in the Shire on our way to the Middle Earth border?" She added. "Or maybe-"
"Alright, alright!" Her brother shakes his head in annoyance. "You've made your damn point! You don't have to rub it in on me!"
The made the younger half elf sister giggle from her brother's misfortune.
"Fine, then!" He declares. "We'll settle this with rock, paper, scissors. The winner gets to choose which road to take."
"Works for me." Magalyn smirks. "I will beat you easily."
"We'll see about that."
10 seconds later...
"Woohoo!" She whoops in triumphant. "And paper beats rock once again! Today's still not your day, brother."
"I can't believe it." He whines. "How could I fall for that trick again?"
"I know exactly how, but I ain't telling you." She finger wags. "You're so predictable."
"I'll get you next time." He declares, standing up. "So, which direction are we going?"
"I don't know." She shrugs.
Her brother collapses in disbelief.
"You don't know?!" He exclaims. "Just pick a road! Any road! It's not magic!"
"Sheesh." She rolls her eyes as she starts picking a path. "You always have to be so dramatic about it. Anyway, we should go that way."
"Straight path again?" He deadpans. "We've been doing that since we left Middle Earth. And there's no way in hell I wanna fall into a canyon a second time."
"Trust me. We'll be fine."
"That's what you said last time!" He argues before crossing his arms and looking in a different direction. "I'm not going anywhere unless you pick either left or right instead of the same choice."
"Alright then. We'll go this way then." She told him, pointing her finger to the right. "Happy now?"
"Thank you." He rudely says. "Now let's get going."
And so the two siblings headed towards the direction they decided to take.
Now it has been two hours on foot, and due to the position of the sun, it's now 10 AM. And the twins' stomachs begin to grumble.
"I'm so... Hungry." The young girl groans, slowly down. "We've been walking for two hours, and there's still not a town in sight."
"I'm not even sure that there really is a town."
"Awwwww." The girl whines. "We're going to die out here in the middle of nowhere!"
"If only there was some miracle for us."
"Are the two of you lost?" A voice asks the two. The twins turned around to see two women on horseback moving up to them.
One of them has the appearance of an average sized young woman. She is a female Cat Beastman so she has cat ears, yellow eyes, and a cat tail. Her hair color is a brownish orange color. Breast size: D-cup.
And the other is a young tan-skinned Amazon with dirty blonde hair and green eyes. She is attractive in appearance, sporting a slender and athletic frame with a well-toned build. CC-cup breasts.
"Need any help?" The Amazon questions. "The two of us we're coming back from a quest we'd completed."
The twins look at each other when Davenas jinxed what he just said a few moments ago about a miracle.
Inside a Tavern...
The two Adventurers eyes widened as they say the twins consuming a lot of food and orange juice.
"This is so good."
"Delicious!" Magalyn exclaims with her mouth full. "Pass me the butter knife, will ya?"
Davenas hands the utensil to his sister, and she starts spreading jam on her piece of toast before taking a bite.
The other two women looked at each other for a moment.
"So..." One of them begins to ask.
"Oh." The strawberry blond girl replies before swallowing her breakfast. "Sorry, where are my manners? I'm Magalyn. And this is my older twin brother Davenas."
"Family name?"
"Unfortunately, we don't have one." The twin brother explains. "Don't mean to be rude, but it's best if you don't question it further."
"We understand, Nyah." The Beastman nodded her head. "Well, you can call me Miya Catt."
"And I'm Glatyle Krelyope. Nice to meet you Magalyn and Davenas." The Amazonian introduces herself with a smile.
"Nice to meet you girls." The strawberry blonde half elf answers. "So... What are you two? We haven't recognized any of you before."
"Not from around here, huh?" The cat girl raises a brow. "That's alright, I guess. I'm a classified as a Beastmen. People who have a human appearance, but with a few differences like the cat ears sticking out of my hair up top."
She then demostrates by moving her cat ears up and down.
"Wow." Magalyn answers in amazement. "Those ears make you look very pretty. Especially your tail."
Miya's cat tail was swaying back and forth with excitement.
"Why, thank you." Miya smirks with pride. "Not every day I get a compliment for being called purr-ty from someone not racist towards me."
"Why would anyone do that?"
"Oh, ya know, the usual." She casually waves off. "Scumbags calling me and others 'freaks.' They're just too afraid of us because we're not meant to have animal traits or pointy ears. We're lucky they didn't go as far as judging our skin color."
"We're sorry you had to go through that."
"It quite all right." Glatyle assures the younger sibling. "I'm an Amazonian. Or Amazon. An all-female race of warriors. And in order to continue our population, we always look for the strongest men to become our tribes husband."
"Are you..."
"Oh no. Not me. I do want to look for a strong man, but only on my terms." She explain, slamming her mug on the table. "Anyway, each of our kind are Demihumans. Well we also use that term for Elves, Dwarves, Centaurs, Fairies, and other races."
"I see."
"Anyway, you two seemed lost out there." Miya changes topics. "Are you really trying to reach Reflet Town?"
"Reflet Town?" The twins said in unison.
"Huh?"
"Easy, Miya. They're new around here in Belfast, remember?"
"Belfast?" Their new friends question further.
"Miya, the map." The Amazonian snapped her fingers.
"Nyah!" The cat girl meows with an innocent grin. "Here you go."
"Thanks." She nods, taking the map from her and laying it in front of the twins to see. "This is where we are. We're about ten miles out from Reflet Town. And the nation that houses the town is known as the Kingdom of Belfast."
The half elves were surprised to see the whole map.
"Brother..." Magalyn points her finger at a region south of Belfast and another one that's labelled in a unreadable language to them. "I recognize the western coastline."
"So do I, sister." He agrees before looking at the two. "Do you have something I can draw on?"
"Uh, sure?" Glatyle replies confusingly, handing out a feather to him before getting out of her chair to grab something. "I'll be back with some ink."
"Sure." Davenas nods, smiling towards the woman.
A few seconds later, the Amazon hands the ink over to him.
"Appreciate it." He nods before dipping the feather tip in black ink, and starts drawing on the unmarked region of the world map.
Miya and her friend eyes opened up in surprise. Once he was finished, Davenas smiles at his work.
"That's more like it." He nods with pride.
"Say, the place you drew..." The beastman woman curiously asked.
"Oh, right." He says showing the updated map to them. "Have a look."
"This is where my brother and I are from."
The geography of the land is filled with forest, grasslands, mountain ranges, deserts, tundras, and rivers. And some parts of the region have labeled landmarks. One particular landmark had a circle drawn around it. The birthplace of the twins: Imladris. Otherwise known in Westron - or common speech for short - as...
"Rivendell." Magalyn quietly utters without the Amazonian and cat girl hearing, despite the latter having enhanced hearing.
"Meow." Miya awe. "You guys are from the unexplored Sea of Trees?"
"Sea of Trees?"
"Are you serious?"
"We're fur real." The cat girl answers. "Those that try to cross the region to reach Sandora never returned."
"Sandora?" The twin brother questions. "Is that the kingdom where the Sutherland borders?"
"That is correct." The dirty blonde confirms. "And what is the Sutherland?"
"A desert region within our home continent." The twin sister shrugs. "It's where there are these giant elephants with huge tusks live."
"Oliphaunts?" Glatyle tilts her head.
"You know about them?" The twin sister was curious.
"Yeah. The Kingdom of Mismeade has wild ones in their region. That so happens to be where Miya is from."
"Huh." Davenas said before looking at his sister. "Guess we must've spent those last three years getting lost in Mismeade before we found our way to Belfast yesterday morning."
"Seems so." Magalyn agreed.
"L-Lost?!" The two adventurers sputtered in disbelief. "For three years?!"
All of their yelling caught the attention of the other patrons and some of the barmaids.
"How are the two of you still alive and in purr-fect condition?!"
"Um, Miya and Glatyle?" The strawberry blond half elf interrupts, blushing in embarrassment. "Can you keep it down? You two are already making a scene."
"Huh?"
The two finally noticed that everyone is staring at them.
"We're sorry." The two sweatdropped and grin nervously.
After breakfast, the four are already on the road.
Magalyn horseback riding behind Miya, while Davenas offered to drive for Glatyle as a small payment for the food, as the company of four are almost to their destination. While traveling, they passed by another carriage being pulled by a horse.
The carriage had three individuals. Two girls, that appear to be twins with silver blue hair, green eyes, and matching outfits. Each of them had different hairstyles. One sporting long hair and the other a bobcut. And another thing different about them is their own chest sizes.
With the bobcut girl driving the open carriage and her twin sister sitting in the back, another passenger is sitting beside the long haired girl. He was a young man around 14-15. Short, wavy black hair and matching eyes.
"So Davenas... How old are you and your sister if I may ask?" The Amazon wonders, curiously, as the other travelers passed by them.
"We're no older than 13." Davenas truthfully says. "Despite our... older teen appearances."
"Oh, well Miya and I are 15." Glatyle nodded before taking aback by what their current age is. "Eh?! 13?! B-But how?!"
"It's complicated." He told her. "But, please don't think into it even further."
"You got to be kitten me?" The cat girl frowns suspiciously. "Not even a hint?"
"Let's just say that we no longer have a home to go to. Or a family."
"You're orphans?" The girls questioned the twins, in which they gave a slow nod. "Sorry for your loss."
"It's fine." Davenas assured. "We'll get over it. Our parents would want what's best for us after all."
"That's what my tribe wanted me to do as well, when I left." The Amazonian admits as she hugs her driver, pressing her armor-covered breasts against Davenas back.
The boy flinches as he feels her soft, bouncy assets that results in his cheeks turning pink.
"Your tribe must love you so much, huh?" He asked, doing his best to get a hold of himself. His sister noticed this too and started puffing up her cheeks.
"You have no idea." She grins mischievously. "Now let's keep going. We're almost to Reflet Town."
"What's so special about this place?"
"It's where the headquarters of the Adventurers Guild we are affiliated with." The cat girl explains to the boy. "Or is it an outpost? I don't know."
"Oh."
"And this Cafe we go to called 'Parent' has this new menu item that has become very popular." Glatyle explains to them, liking her lips. "A good old friend of ours sent a messenger pigeon about it. Unfortunately, she hasn't told us what it's called. Says it's a surprise. But at least, Miya and I looking forward to tasting it for the first time."
"And when did this new treat came onto to the menu?" The strawberry blond girl asks curiously.
"Just yesterday." Miya answers before noticing the twins' unconvinced faces. "No really! It's become so popular in Reflet Town, that it won't be long before the entire Kingdom of Belfast experiences it! Maybe all of Arda!"
"I believe I want to try this new treat. Can we, brother?" Magalyn smiles brighty towards her older sibling. "Please."
"I-I don't see why not. I think I want to try some too." Davenas told his younger sibling. "That is, if you girls will allow us?"
"Of course. We're all fur-ends." Miya declared, giving a cute pose. "As long as you give us a helping paw occasionally."
"Fur-ends?"
"H-Helping paw?"
"That's right." She smiles. "The two of us are the only members of our party and we were wondering if you and your sister would join us."
The two siblings looked at each other for a moment, wondering if they should accept. Before they can say anything to the two guild members, Davenas looks forward, seeing a town in the distance, just down the hill.
"I can see the town from here." He announced to everyone.
"Magalyn, Davenas." Glatyle sticks out her hand. "Welcome to Reflet Town."
The half elves were astonished by the location. They don't know how to describe it. It wasn't long before the two horses they're riding on walk through the west town gate.
"Welcome back, Glatyle and Miya." A female guard called out, waving at them.
"Anna!" The cat girl beams, waving happily.
"Good morning to you, too." The Amazon greets with a smile as their horses pass by, now inside Reflet Town.
"Back from your quest already?" Anna wonders, curiously. "That was quick."
"Yeah, it was." Glatyle confirms. "See ya later."
"Laters!" She waved back, before smirking. "Huh. So that Amazon finally found herself a man. Oh well. Hopefully I'll be like that soon."
A few minutes later, the four were able to park their rented horses in the stables, and they all got off before a stable boy walks in to do his job.
"Perfect timing." He told them, before looking at the twins. "Friends of yours?"
"Something like that." The Amazon says before handing him two gold coins. "For your troubles, kid."
The young boy was surprised at first, before slowly giving a nod.
"Thank you."
She nods back before she and the others exit the stables, and begin to walk down the brick streets.
"Wow, it's so much better inside the wall." Magalyn admits, breathing in the air.
"It's been a long time since we've been in a town." Davenas agrees with his sister.
"So, have you made your decision?" Miya chimes in.
"We'd like to think it over if that's okay with you two." He requests. "For now, Magalyn and I need to find a place to stay for awhile. Our sleeping bags got left behind in a forest fire, so we appreciate if there's an inn here or not."
"We know the purrfect place. We're staying there right now. It's called the Silver Moon Inn. The Inn Keeper is a friend of ours. And if you tell her that you are friends of ours, then she'll give you a key to one of the extra rooms we rented."
"Why do you have more than one bedroom?"
"You don't want to know."
"Try us."
"You asked for it. Don't say we didn't warn you." The tan-skinned woman sighed, before telling them. "When me and Miya get drunk... We occasionally end up in the same bed together. Naked."
"Oh." The boy said. "So are you two, ya know..."
"What?! Of course not!" Glatyle blushes angrily. "Why the hell would I be interested in having a romantic relationship with the same sex?! That's literally disgusting! I mean, who came up with that idea in the first place?! Besides, I'm from a race that needs a male to procreate and continue the species!"
"Yeah, no offense, but Glatyle has a point." Miya deadpans. "It just ruins the natural order, ya know."
"Sorry! I mean it! I didn't want to disrespect you."
"Well, we pretty much feel disrespected right now." Glatyle turned her head to the side, crossing her arms. "Keep that up and it might just have to give you the boot and you can sleep on the street."
"I just apologized to you!" He argues. "If it still bothers you, then get over it already."
"I will. On one condition." She raised a finger.
"Which is?"
"Join the guild." She answers. "AFTER you and Magalyn discuss it over."
"Is this the only way to get your full forgiveness?"
"Yes!"
"So stubborn." He shakes his head before leaning next to his twin. "Are all women like this, sister?"
"Don't look at me." She shrugs with an innocent but smug expression. "You got yourself into this mess and a only you can get out of it."
"Damn." He grits his teeth in annoyance. "Cocky little bitch."
"I heard that." She glares back at him.
"Whatever." He rolled his eyes. "Fine! If it's the only way to apologize, we'll do it."
"Paw-some!" Miya cheers. "We'll be expecting your decision, then. Take as much time as you want. No need to rush."
"Alright, the Silver Moon Inn is just up ahead." The Amazon points her finger straight.
"Thanks." The strawberry blonde half elf smiles as the twins made their way towards the inn.
Later inside...
"Finally, a bed!" Magalyn plops on her back, feeling the soft, comfy mattress. "It's been forever since we were able to relax like this."
"You said it." Davenas agrees with his sister. "We been on the run for 3 years. Of course it's been a long time."
The younger sibling starting laughing a bit.
"Are we really doing the right thing?" She questions. "Traveling with them, I mean."
"Hmm." He thought about it, looking at the ceiling. "That's a good question. I don't know. But we really could use the money. And new clothes. We look like the Rangers from the North. Not in a good way either."
"Good point." She says, looking at herself. "Plus, we need to also get new weapon. I know we already have swords, but we can't always rely on them."
"Exactly." He nods. "And on top of that, they draw too much attention to us."
"So, you know what we need to do?"
"Do you?"
"Hmm." Magalyn thought about it for a moment. "Well, I really like them. Though, we should always keep our guard up. I don't wanna think about the thought of being backstabbed, even if we never experienced it."
"Good call." Her brother agrees once more as he leave his heirloom weapon on the bed before facepalming. "Ah, shit. We didn't tell Glatyle and Miya that we can't read the writing here."
"Nuts!" His sister exclaims.
To be continued...
