Misaka Mikoto and Shirai Kuroko were sprinting to the nearby trainyard. A few moments ago an explosion shook the ground, needless to say, both girls were worried about the boy that was dear to both of them. As she was running Kuroko wiped tears off her eyes and reminded herself of what the boy had said.
"I'm glad you are worried for my sake, but don't worry about me. As I said, everyone will come home smiling… I promise."
"I… just have to trust him" Kuroko whispered to herself as she approached the trainyard.
But when she arrived, all of her thoughts left her, and her heart sank. What she saw in front of her terrified her. She saw a white-haired boy, who she assumed was the number one, with his arms up. He was doing something in the air above him… compacting it? Kuroko didn't have time to worry about what he was doing, because behind him was a sight that she could never forget.
Kamijou Touma laid in a pool of his own blood, unmoving.
"T-Touma!" Kuroko yelled. Beside her was Misaka, who said nothing, but had a look of anger on her face. Both girls ran through an opening in the fence, Kuroko ran to Touma's side and Misaka started digging around for something in her pocket.
"Accelerator! Stop this!"
He glanced back, smirked at her, then turned back forward. Misaka's eyes widened and she gained an irritated look on her face. She held out her railgun and prepared to fire at him.
Shirai Kuroko was at Touma's side, the boy breathing was ragged and it was clear that he was going to bleed out, if not given proper medical treatment. She looked at his hand, it was clutching something. It was his pill container, unopened, she quickly took it and fed him one. His breathing slowed, but he was far from being okay. He coughed up blood, then opened his eyes.
"T-Touma! Don't move, it will be okay!"
Touma's eyes widened, Kuroko was not supposed to be here.
"Kuroko, you can't be here…" He said, raggedly.
"W-What?! I can't leave you here to die!" She yelled at him. To her surprise, he just smiled.
"Y-You... have to trust me on this. Can I ask that of you, trust me?"
Kuroko looked at the boy, the boy that had saved her life all those years ago, the one whose very presence comforted her. In his eyes, she saw the same spark that was always there, his determination was nearly unbreakable, once he set his mind to something.
There was a silence for a little while, before Touma's eyes widened when he saw Misaka aiming her railgun at Accelerator.
He turned to Kuroko, "Don't let her fire that, I have to do this on my own."
"T-Touma, please-"
"I can beat him, but I need your help. Just trust me." He said, staring her in the eyes.
Kuroko looked at the boy, and made up her mind. She decided that she would trust Touma, no matter what happens.
"Touma… what do you need me to do?"
Misaka Mikoto was ready to fire her railgun, she wanted to save the people she cared about, even at the expense of her own life. She looked over to see Kuroko next to a bloodied Touma.
"Sorry your dream won't come true… but I want you to live…"
She turned back to her target and aimed.
"Ready…" She flipped her token up, and it began to descend towards her awaiting thumb. But before it reached her, Misaka was suddenly run into on her side. She missed the token flick, and tumbled to the ground. She looked up to see Kuroko, with tears in her eyes.
"K-Kuroko! W-What-"
"Just trust him…" She seemed to be speaking more to herself than Misaka.
Before Misaka could ask another question, Kuroko ran off to another part of the trainyard, leaving a startled Misaka alone.
Kuroko was teleporting towards her goal. She had just stopped Misaka from firing her railgun, and now she was running towards the second part of Touma's plan, Misaka's clone. Their conversation from just now, still fresh on her mind.
"Over there is Misaka's clone, she's hurt, but alive. You have to tell her…"
Kuroko arrived at the clone with wide eyes, it was an exact replica of her roommate! She knelt down by her side and grabbed her hand.
"She's cold!"
She didn't feel a pulse, she shook the girl gently, then started to cry.
"What am I doing… how can I ask this girl to do anything, she's injured… I'm a member of Judgement, yet I can do nothing now…"
While she was crying, she heard a small voice below her.
"W...Why… are you… crying… Misaka asks… with concern…"
The girl spoke with a broken monotone voice. Kuroko looked up, her eyes wide.
"Y-Your alive…"
"Yes… thanks to that boy… Misaka says… confused by the boy's actions…"
"He saved her…" she smiled, "Of course he did…"
Her smile quickly turned to a frown when she realized that the boy she was thinking about, was in grave danger, and it was up to her to stop what Accelerator was doing so that Touma could fight him.
"I know that I'm asking a lot from you, especially in your current state, but I need your help! Please, help me save him!"
Kamijou Touma was lying on the ground, surrounded by his own blood. He knew that he was injured, but if he didn't get up, he wouldn't be able to stop the experiments. Slowly, he pushed up off the ground, wincing in pain. He looked up to see Accelerator looking at the sky in confusion, the ball of plasma he was working on had dispersed.
"She did it…"
Once Accelerator realized what had happened he turned to the source of his problems, the clone that he hadn't finished off. Touma saw that Kuroko and Misaka were standing in front of the clone, ready to protect her. Accelerator was getting ready to launch himself at them, when he heard a noise to his left. He turned and his eyes widened in shock.
"N-No way he is still alive… that's impossible!"
Kuroko and Misaka turned towards the noise also, eyes widening. Kuroko put her hand over her mouth. Touma shouldn't have gotten up, she knew that he was in extreme pain.
If Kamijou Touma was in pain, he didn't show it at all. His hair was covering his eyes and he had a frown on his face. He took a step towards Accelerator. He was very intimidating, he looked like a bloodied zombie, lumbering towards its prey.
Apparently Accelerator thought so also, he took a step back before realizing his mistake.
"What am I doing! I am the number one esper, I could beat this guy with a flick of a finger!"
With that thought he launched himself at Touma with superfast speed.
Kuroko barely had time to warn Touma of the attack, before a punch was landed.
"H-He… actually did it…" Kuroko stared at the sight in front of her, wide eyed.
Accelerator was on the ground, unconscious, and Touma was standing up, breathing hard. However, Touma couldn't stay up for long, he winced and started falling towards the cold-hard ground. Something stopped his fall, but he would never know what it was since he fainted from exhaustion upon impact.
Had he still been conscious, he might have seen a crying Shirai Kuroko crading him in her arms.
"Y-You really kept your promise…"
She heard sirens in the distance, she knew that she had to leave him here. If she was caught out of Tokiwadai at this hour, she would surely be expelled. Wiping the tears from her eyes, she set his head on the pavement, and took one last look.
A look at the boy she loved…
Kamijou Touma stirred from his deep sleep. He woke on in a hospital room and it took him a few moments to remember why he was here. He had beat Accelerator and, hopefully, the experiment had ended. He took a look at his surroundings, the window was open and the sun was shining in, it looked to be about noon. He was hooked up to a machine that helped him breathe. His heart, of course, had been overworked in the fight and it needed some help before he could be back to normal. He was about to go to sleep, when he realized that someone was on his hand, he looked down to see the girl that he knew as Shirai Kuroko. She was resting her head on his bed, asleep. He moved her hair out of her face, revealing just how beautiful she was. She slept with a content smile on her face, Touma smiled at this sight, admiring her beauty just a bit longer.
After a while, Kuroko stirred, she opened her eyes and looked around. Then she saw Touma staring at her, she jumped out of her seat and looked away to hide her blush.
Touma let out a chuckle, "Good morning, Kuroko, did you have a good nap?"
"I-I…" She looked at him, " I did, thank you."
"So how long have you been here?"
She smiled at him, "Not long at all. Are you feeling alright?"
He put on a grin, "As good as new! I'm a pretty fast healer."
She laughed, "You are saying this while covered in bandages."
They talked and laughed for a while.
"Well… I have to get back to school. I can come back to visit you later if you want."
Touma smiled, "Yeah, I would like that"
She turned to leave, but she was stopped by Touma's voice.
"K-Kuroko?"
She turned to him, "Yeah?"
"W-Well, since I missed our first 'date', I was wondering if you had anything planned for this Sunday?" He stuttered nervously.
She immediately looked down at the floor, flustered. "W-Well 'date' isn't the word I would use it was more of a meeting between two acquaintances who just happened to run into each other on the street and just wanted to catch up-"
She stopped when she realized that she was rambling, out of embarrassment.
"I would love to hang out with you this Sunday, Touma!" She said, then quickly ran out of the room, turning redder by the second.
Touma had a smile on his face.
"I look forward to it."
Shortly after she left, the frog-faced doctor entered the room.
"You shouldn't scare off your girlfriend like that." He teased.
"Oh, she isn't my girlfriend…"
"Oh, I'm sorry, it's just that she seems to care deeply for you. Did you know that you were asleep for three days, and she was here everyday after her school let out? Seems to me that you guys are more than just friends."
Touma's eyes widened, he remembered their conversation earlier.
"So how long have you been here?"
"Not long at all."
He smiled, his heartbeat had increased for some reason, it was happening more and more often, when he thought about her. He looked out his window and saw the girl running to her school.
"Shirai Kuroko…"
The week seemed to fly for Kamijou Touma, before he knew it, it was Sunday and he found himself in front of the mirror, getting ready for his meeting with Kuroko. He was putting on his school jacket and combing his hair
"What are you doing, Touma?" Asked Index, who was watching some anime on TV.
"Oh, I'm just meeting someone, I'll be back tonight. The food is in the fridge and if you need to contact me, my phone number is by the landline phone."
He rushed out of the house, he would probably arrive at their meeting spot late, because of his misfortune.
"Bye Index!" He said slamming the door before Index could question him.
"T-Touma!"
Index stared at the closed door. Touma was in a rush, she wondered who he was going to meet.
"Could it be a girl?!"
Touma arrived at their meeting spot five minutes late, he quickly spotted Kuroko sitting on a bench from afar. He ran to where she was, and his eyes widened. She looked at him and he got a glance at her beauty. Her usual pigtails were gone and instead her hair flowed freely. Her usual uniform was replaced with a skirt and a t-shirt. He stared at her for some time, before she looked away, flustered.
"W-What are you looking at?!"
"Y-You look absolutely… stunning!" He stuttered, and with this Kuroko started to turn red.
"T-Thanks, Touma…"
Touma snapped out of the trance that she had him in, and grabbed her hand. The sudden gesture stunned the girl.
"Do you want to go?" He asked.
"Where?"
"Don't worry I've got it all planned out."
With that, the two started their "meeting".
Really, we should call it a date.
Author's Note:
Hello friends, hope you enjoyed the chapter. This took a bit longer than usual because I was lacking my usual motivation. I've written the Accelerator fight scene multiple times across my many fanfics, and at some point, it gets dull. BUT NEVER FEAR, now that this is out of the way, I can start developing their relationship (sorry for those of you who think that the love is forced). I can wait to write the Festival arc, it's going to be amazing. Also, thanks so much for all the reviews last chapter, it was one of the most reviewed chapters of any of my fanfics. You guys really keep me going, I love reading what you guys think of my story. If you have an idea that you think could make the story better, don't be scared to share it. Thanks for reading!
See you next chapter-Gabriel
(P.S. Am I the only one who thinks that Kuroko with no pigtails is extremely pretty? To bad they only showed her like that when she was getting ready for bed) *cries*
