First Sight.

I knew Charlie was looking forward to us both staying with him for an extended period of time as he usually only got to see us for six weeks a year of that I spent three weeks in Forks before he came and spent three weeks in Phoenix so having us both for the entire year was a dream come true for him no doubt.

He had gotten us both registered at school even though I was tempted just to test out last year when I was sixteen, but in the end, I decided to spend the last few years in school if nothing else, I could relax and study for college. Or work on writing a book, something that I would have to look into.

Our dad was waiting for us next to the cruiser. This was to be expected. He didn't really have another car and didn't need one. Charlie was the police chief to the good people of Forks. I know that was a reason that Bella wanted to buy her own car, even with the small amount of saved up funds that she had. I knew that he had bought her that abomination of a truck. The first weekend I get I am buying my own car.

I ran up and gave my new dad a large hug " Hello, dad." I greeted him.

"It's good to see you again, Maya", Charlie replied and then turned to look at Bella. I grabbed the suitcases and started to load them into the car's boot while they greeted each other, and dad helped Bella, who had managed to trip on the flat surface. I knew that I would have to go shopping with Bella and get us some better clothes for the weather in Forks. I had some stuff here already, but Bella needed some of her own clothes.

"I found a good car for you both, really cheap," Dad announced when we were strapped in. I took most of my willpower not to snort at that.

"What kind of car?" Bella asked, no doubt suspicious of how he said a good car for us instead of a good car in general.

"Well, it's a truck actually, a Chevy."

"Where did you find it," Bella asked.

"Do you remember Billy Black down at La Push?" La Push is the tiny Indian reservation on the coast full of magic Laylines that I would no doubt take advantage of to enchant things with magic that was beyond my normal reserves of magic.

"No," Bella said.

"Yes," I said at the same time.

"He used to go fishing with us during the summer," Charlie tried to prompt Bella, knowing that I knew Billy. After all, I technically saw him three months ago. But I was sure Bella had forgotten him after all the bad times she had fishing when she was younger.

"He's in a wheelchair now," Charlie continued when Bella didn't respond, "so he can't drive anymore, and he offered to sell me his truck cheap."

"What year is it?" Bella asked him. I saw from his face he didn't want to focus on the age. After all, that truck is actually older than our dad.

"Well, Billy's done a lot of work on the engine. It's only a few years old, really."

"Actually, it was Jacob that did all the work on the truck", I jumped in and told dad.

"Really"

"Ch — Dad, I don't really know anything about cars. I wouldn't be able to fix it if anything went wrong, and I couldn't afford a mechanic…." Bella tried to explain.

"Don't worry, Jacob will help if anything goes wrong", I reassured her. After all, the truck was fine till Edward killed the thing.

"Really, Bella, the thing runs great. They don't build them like that anymore."

Yes, to right, they don't; it is no longer the 60's I thought to myself. Then again, the only downside to the truck was the noise and the amount of gas that it drank. I doubt we could even get to Seattle on a single tank.

"How cheap is cheap?" Bella asked, no doubt worried about how much money it would set her back, not that I was worried. After all, I had five thousand dollars in my purse at the moment I'm sure I could buy ten of those trucks.

"Well, I kind of already bought it for you both. As a homecoming gift." Charlie peeked sideways at Bella with a hopeful expression.

"You didn't need to do that, Dad. I was going to buy myself a car." Bella said, looking straight ahead. Both of them were uncomfortable with expressing their emotions. It was a little funny to see from the outside.

"I don't mind. I want you to be happy here."

"Hey, I am always happy here. How have Leah and Seth been?" I asked dad to spare Bella some of her embarrassment, something she must have noticed as she gave me a small smile.

"Seth has been okay and asked me when your next coming back and has been looking forward to you getting here. Leah seemed a little down about something. Maybe you could visit her and try and cheer her up?" Charlie asked me he was good friends with Sue after all.

"Ya, I will go down this weekend," I told him, thinking about it. Sam must have turned into a wolf or is starting to turn into one and pushing Leah away from him. Not sure what I could do to help them both. I know that he would imprint on Emily. It was next to impossible to avoid that. Eventually, they would cross paths. They live on the same reservation, after all.

The car fell quiet, and I decided to focus on my magic and feel the Laylines around me. I would need them to protect myself from the Cullens vampire gifts. I had not decided what my stance on them was getting involved with them would complicate my life but getting involved with them would allow me to protect Bella far better. The idea of trying to stop Bella from falling in love crossed my mind, but if they were really mates, then Bella's life would be loveless and empty forever, something I couldn't do to my own sister.

I guess I will just have to let it play out and try and help where I can. The Laylines here was filled with so much life and magic. It was a comforting feeling that was impossible to put into words, but it felt like home, safe and pleasant.

We eventually made it back to Charlie's. He still lived in the three-bedroom house that he's bought with our mum in the early days of their marriage, which was the only days they had. Their parked on the street was the abomination with its faded rust red colour with the big rounded fenders and bulbous cab. I could see that Bella actually liked the thing.

"Wow, Dad, I love it! Thanks!" Bella said to dad while I got our stuff out of the trunk and moved them to the front door while Bella checked out the truck with dad. It only took one trip to bring everything upstairs. Bella got the west bedroom facing the front yard, whereas my bedroom overlooks the back year.

I looked around my bedroom, which, unlike Bella's, looked like someone had lived in it in the last decade. The walls were a pale green which matched the green bed sheet. Thankfully, the bed was a double bed as single beds made me feel caged in with how small they are. I could see the internet modem in the corner, something that mum had demanded so we can stay in touch, which would have to wait till I can go to Seattle actually to buy a computer.

Forks High School was going to be the first school that I had ever been to. I know that I had my memories of my last school, but knowing what it was like from memories and really experiencing it would be two different things and everyone here know each other and although I knew some of them from when I was here at summer-like Mike Newton from the outdoor store going to school with them would be new.

On the bright side, I wasn't too bothered if I got on with any of them as most of them from the books showed to be not very good friends in the end, with only Angela being someone I would want to be friends with.

We got takeout for dinner, nothing fancy, just Pizza, meaning cooking will be left to Bella and me. Well, more likely me, I loved cooking in my old life, and money wasn't an issue, so I will make sure they both get to eat the best food that I can cook. I was just waiting for them both to fall asleep, so I could go and make the enchanted necklace to keep me safe from Edward's mind-reading, Jasper's ability to sense and control emotions were the two main things.

Alice's power was much more challenging to protect myself, and I wasn't sure I could use that much magic at the moment. The more you use magic, the easier it is to use, and I hadn't really used it a lot in this life, so I couldn't channel a lot of magic at the moment. It took five hours before I was sure that Charlie and Bella were asleep. Using magic, I cloaked myself so no one could see me or hear me and set off into the woods behind the house.

Using my magic, I kept going till I came across the first Layline. It seemed that it should be large enough for all the magic that I wanted to. I was tempted to try to find a bigger one, but I didn't want to be out of the house too long, so I decided to use this one and protect myself from Edward first, and there was any magic left in the Layline I would protect myself from Jaspers gift.

Worse come to worse, I would have to wait for the Layline to replenish, which should only take a day or two. I decided to make the actual necklace from my own magic reserves to get the most out of the Layline that I had access to. I need to picture the necklace I wanted to conjure. I thought of the Witch Pentacle with a gemstone in each point of the Pentacle and the tree of life behind the Pentacle and ᛈᚱᛟᛏᛖᚲᛏ runes carved around the bottom border.

I felt something appear in my hand and opened them to look and see the necklace resting in my hands how I pictured it. I could feel that even that amount of magic had made me out of breath, but gemstones were tough to make and took a lot of magic. I could lift a person and throw them a good five feet with the magic it takes to make one gemstone.

So the six gemstones that I just made took a ridiculous amount of magic. This was why it was better to just make money than trying to make gold or silver. The magic cost was enormous. Looking at the necklace, it looked just like the one I had before. It was a symbol of pride for me, a mark that shows that I was a witch and proud of it.

Grabbing a stick, I drew a Pentacle on the ground, something I did just to feel more witchy. It had no real purpose other than looking cool and witchy I placed the necklace in the centre and started to pull the magic from the Layline and pour it into the necklace while thinking of the enchantment I wanted to give the necklace. Going for gold, I try to add protection from all mental vampire gifts knowing that most gifts were mental in nature, and I would be protected against most gifts this way.

I could feel the necklace starting to heat up as the magic filled it up and the enchantment was placed on it. It would either break or glow to show that the spell had worked. A few seconds passed, and I felt the Layline start to run low on magical power, then the gemstone in the centre, a sapphire, glowed a bright blue. I used the rest of the magic in Layline to fill my reserves back up, or tomorrow would be a rough day before I picked the necklace back up and placed it around my neck.

I noticed that the sapphire had taken on a slight glow, but all enchanted items took on that same glow, and there was nothing that I could do about that. Standing back up, I noticed that the sky was starting to lighten. I had clearly been out here much longer than I had thought and started to jog back home, feeling better that I was safe from Edward at least.

I had gotten home before anyone else was awake and looked at the clock to see that it was quarter to six in the morning. I used magic to vanish any of the dirt I had on me before getting changed into some fresh clothing. I could use magic to clean them while wearing them, but it just didn't feel the same as freshly washed clothing.

Seeing the time, I decided to start breakfast. Checking the fridge, I could see that dad didn't eat a lot of food at home. There were things to eat breakfast and nothing else. Grabbing the eggs, bacon and sausage with some toast should be enough to make breakfast for dad and scrambled eggs on toast for Bella and me.

Breakfast was a quiet event with Charlie. He wished us luck at school, and I told him I would do a food shop on the way back from school, which Bella looked relieved at. She didn't really like takeout or greasy food. Dad left first, off to the police station that left Bella and me sat at the table. Bella was looking around at the kitchen.

"You didn't change anything?" Bella asked me, no doubt confused why I left everything the same.

"No, we can if you want to get some paint or something?" I asked her. I wasn't sure why I didn't change anything I got my memories of living in this world, but not every single thought or anything like that, so I was just as confused as her.

Bella looked at the pictures, and I saw her give a slight wince.

"Right, shall we head off to school then?" I asked Bella

She just nodded back and walked to grab her large jacket while I just grabbed my leather jacket, and we both headed into the rain. It was just a light drizzle, not enough to soak my hair or anything like that, and a little subtle magic kept that dry as well as we climbed into the truck. Bella was driving, after all, she was stuck with this thing, and I was going to buy my own car at the weekend, so she needed the practice.

Someone must have cleaned the truck out as it was clean and only had the smell of tobacco and gasoline lingering. The truck then roared into life as if protesting how old the thing was and then idling to remind you that it was still alive.

Finding the school wasn't too hard Forks was really small, and it was just past the police station. Bella parked in front of the first building with the sign saying office. We both got out and walked into the office and saw a red-haired woman surrounded by stacks of paper that looked like they would tip over with a simple breeze.

The red-haired woman looked up. "Can I help you?"

"Hi, I am Maya Swan, and this is my sister Bella," I said to her, pointing to Bella. And saw that she knew who we were. I might have met her before, but if so, I had forgotten her.

"Of course," she said. She dug through a precariously stacked pile of documents on her desk till she found the ones she was looking for. "I have your schedule right here and a map of the school." She brought several sheets to the counter to show us.

She went through our classes, highlighting the best route to each on the map, and gave us the slip to have each teacher sign, which we were to bring back at the end of the day. Bella and I shared the same classes. The problem with a small school was a small selection of classes to pick from hell. They only had Spanish as a language option.

We went back to the truck, and Bella drove to the parking lot. With the small number of students and staff, there was no need for a student and staff parking lot. In fact, the parking lot wasn't even filled to capacity. All of the cars were old, with the newest car being a shiny Volvo that I knew belonged to Edward. Hmm, maybe I could copy him as much as I would love to buy something like an Aston Martin. It would raise questions from everyone, such a shame.

Bella took one more look at the map before we both set off for our first day at school. We headed off to building three. I gave a smile to everyone that we passed. After all, no reason to look rude even if I wouldn't remember most of these people. The classroom was small. The teacher gawed at us and then sent us to sit down without introducing ourselves, which was a relief.

Looking at the book list, I saw that I had read all of the books. At some point, homework was a new thing to me, and I found I didn't like the idea at all. The bell rang for the end of the lesson, and I saw the boy that was sat in front of me lean over.

"You're Isabella Swan, aren't you?" "And your Maya Sawn, right?"

"Yep, you caught us," I told him, not really sure who he was. He didn't fit the description for Mike. I saw that everyone else in eat shot had turned to look at us. I gave them a wave.

What's your next class?" He asked us I was sure it was Eric at this point, that or maybe Tylor.

"We have Government, with Mr Jefferson," Bella told him.

"I'm heading to building four. I could show you the way… I'm Eric" He introduced himself.

"Yes, please, that would be very helpful," I told him, seeing Bella was uncomfortable with all the attention.

Once we were outside the classroom, the questions started. And, of course, everyone was listening in a while, trying to pretend that they were not listening in. "So this is a lot different than Phoenix, huh?"

I saw Bella nod her head.

"Yep, far greener and way more rain, not that is bad. I like green a lot more. My sister has a thing for the desert, though." I told him. "Oh, we are just about to pass building four. We will be able to find building six, thanks anyway, Eric; We wouldn't want you to be late."

Before he could speak, Bella and I had already walked away. The rest of the morning went pretty well. Everyone in small towns was friendly as they grew up together and knew each other, making getting on with them relatively easy.

We, unfortunately, met Jessica, though. I knew that she was a backstabbing bitch who only cared about herself and how she looked and that everyone would hear any gossip from her even if it was something that she just made up. She offered to let us sit with her at lunch part of me wanted to turn her down but remembered that I could show her up at lunch, so I accepted alongside Bella.

We both got our tray, and I was horrified at what was apparently passed for food at school. I wasn't sure that I could even eat this so-called food. I decided I would be making us lunch every day rather than eat this pond scum.

I saw Eric at the table across from us and gave him a wave when she saw us. I noticed that Bella was looking around before stopping at one table I knew would be the Cullens. I was excited to see what the vampires looked like. I looked over at the table and saw them. They all stood out from the clothes to the looks.

I saw the oldest with his arm wrapped around his wife, if that is even a strong enough word to describe the relationship of mated vampires.

Emmet was very tall, but the stand out thing was the amount of muscle on the guy. I could see why people thought he was intimidating and must have been over two feet taller than me with slightly curly brown hair and a slightly childish look that seemed to suit him even given his size.

I saw Rosalie and had to stop to take in how beautiful she was. The books didn't do her justice, let alone the movie. She was 5,9 with a perfect figure with long wavey blond hair that seemed to shimmer in the light. I didn't want to look away from her. It was a shame she was mated. I couldn't help myself think I never questioned that I preferred girls to boys, and Rose had solidified that. Emmet is a lucky bastard.

Next to them was Jasper, who was nearly as tall as Emmet but looked far less bulky with honey blond hair. I knew that he was covered in scars from his time with newborns. I was sure that if I used magic to enhance my eyesight, I would see them. Next to him was my favourite Cullen.

Alice was tiny; I was sure that I was a bit taller than her. She was also thin to the extreme, like someone that didn't eat a ton but still worked out. She had pixie-like features. I was tempted to ask if she had pointed ears. Her hair was ink-black cropped short and spiky from her time in the mental hospital. I knew that her sister Cynthia would die in a few months before she ever got to see her.

Or at least she died before 2006, and it was 2005 now. Part of me wanted to help her. I know that she wished to know her life before becoming a vampire, and I could tell her far more than what she would ever find out. Hell, if I told them about James, I could save so much pain not only for her but for Bella as well, and they could get information out of James and Victoria. I didn't make a decision now as if I did, Alice could see it.

Across from Alice was Edward, who in the books is compared to Rosalie in terms of how good looking he is, but as far as I can tell, he has nothing to her in terms of looks. Sure he is the best-looking male at the table but nothing on Rosalie. He had a good face with a strong jawline and untidy bronze hair and seemed the least built of the male Cullens. And next to him was…

Wait, there is an extra person. They were clearly a vampire, but that wasn't right. There weren't six Cullens in the story. Only five, but at the table was a sixth from the looks she must have been Edwards sister. They shared the same bronze colour hair.

This girl was about a foot taller than Alice, making her a bit taller than me with a beautiful face. Her lips were full and plump, and large eyes that would have shown of the colour perfectly. She wasn't Rosalie level beautiful but more among perfect moral beauty and not goddess level. Her hair seemed to have a shimmer that made it seem like actual bronze, something missing from Edward's hair, and it came down to her lower back.#

I could see that Jessica had noticed we were looking at the Cullens. I started to look away and saw that Alice was looking at both Bella and me with a mixture of curiosity and excitement. I couldn't help but give her a wave she was my favourite, after all, I would love to be her friend maybe when Bella became friends I would have the chance to meet her.

If nothing at all, we would get to talk when it was Bella's wedding.

I heard Jessica speak up, so I turned to listen to her wanting to know who the sixth Cullen was as she had thrown me off. Was this even the same as the books anymore, or was everything different would Bella end up with Edward?

"I see you have noticed the Cullen's," She said, excited no doubt to talk about the Cullens being that she was a gossip. I knew that Edward would be looking now that she thought of his name. I was happy to see my necklace was working, or Edward would have looked at me when I was thinking about his family, especially when I was thinking about Alice's past.

"They just moved down two years ago from somewhere in Alaska. That's Alice, the short-haired one, Edward with the bronze hair and his twin sister Elizabeth. Emmett Cullen is the big guy, and the two blonds are Rosalie and Jasper Hale; they're twins also.

So she called Elizabeth the same name as her mother. I think Edward was named after his father as well. I had zoned out as I thought about that.

Jessica was still talking about them. I was sure she would have gotten bored about talking about them after two years. I must not have noticed them as I spent all my time at La Push. "... they all live together with Dr Cullen and his wife, Dr Cullen is really young, so he adopted them."

I held in a snort at the young comment. After all, he was around three hundred and fifty at this point. Not exactly young.

"Wow, they must be exceptional people to adopt all those kids," I said in a tone that said drop it to Jessica. I could see Bella was blushing and looking at the table. Looking back at the Cullens, I noticed that Alice was still smiling at us, and Edward was looking at Bella and me with an unmet expression and confusion.

The rest of lunch flew by. I saw Bella take a few more looks at Edward. Hopefully, that showed that they were still mates, or his lust for my sister blood could cause her death, not that I would allow that to happen. When lunch was over, I knew that we had Biology with Angela, and if Edward and his sister were there, Bella might not sit next to him.

Walking into the room, I immediately spotted Edward sitting at a table alone with his sister sitting at the table behind him. Was this something that Alice told them to do? It didn't seem likely she wouldn't risk Bella becoming a meal.

We walked up to Mr. Banner to get our books and slips signed, and he told us where to sit. I was next to Elizabeth, and Bella was next to Edward. As we walked up, I brought my magic to the surface to save me a few seconds. I would generally need to summon it. If he made a single move to my sister, I would set him on fire.

I could see Edward looking at my sister with Fury and hunger in his pitch-black eyes. I sat down next to his sister, who seemed to be worried I wasn't sure if she could read minds and was reading what Edward was planning, but something had her worried.

I gave her a slight nod and listened to the lecture, not really paying attention. I know that Elizabeth tried to talk to me a few times, but I ignored her, keeping my eye on Edward just in case.

The class seemed to take longer than any other class; however, Edward never once moved towards Bella and just spent the entire time not breathing and glaring at her. I wanted to use my magic to slap the crap out of him for glaring at her.

The bell finally rang, and Edward seemed to vanish out of the room, no doubt running far too fast to be fully human. I turned and looked at Elizabeth, who still looked a little worried.

"It seems your brother seems to be a little ill. You should see if he's okay," I told her before saying goodbye and walking to gym with Bella and Mike, not really paying attention to either of them, still lost in my own thoughts.

The class passed without me noticing, and the day had ended. I could see that Bella was upset and was trying not to show it. She was a suffer in silence type of person.

When we walked into the warm office, I saw Bella wanted to turn around and walk back out. Edward Cullen stood in front of the desk and didn't seem to notice us arrive. He was arguing and was trying to swap out of sixth-hour Biology to any other time.

The door opened, and the wind gusted through the room. I saw Edward Cullen's back stiffen before turning around to glare at Bella, making me glare back at him.

"Is there a problem?" I asked. Making him take a quick glance at me before he turned back to the receptionist

"Never mind, then," he said hastily in a voice like velvet. "I can see that it's impossible. Thank you so much for your help."

And he turned on his heel without another look at us and disappeared out the door. We walked up to the desk to hand in our slip.

"How was your first day go?" The receptionist asked us kindly.

"It went well. Well, as well as first days go." I told her with a smile which she returned and took the two slips.

By the time we got to the truck, it was almost the last car in the lot. Which Bella seemed relived for giving the breath she was holding. We both got in, and Bella seemed to pause for a minute before starting the truck and driving home.

I could tell she was fighting tears the whole time. Some even slipped, though.
