I didn't bother going to the Layline today. Instead, I was putting a file together with all the knowledge I had on Mary Alice Brandon Cullen as a sign of good faith. I was also planning to use it to get rid of James and Victoria and spare my sister from the pain they caused her. I hoped this would also keep the Cullens off the radar of the Volturi. I wasn't sure if that would affect Seth and Leah becoming wolves, but I was sure I could use my magic to make them change if they didn't and wanted to change.
I knew where she was born and when she was born, so getting a birth certificate was not hard, and I managed to dig up an old newspaper with a picture of Alice and her sister and scumbag father. It was much easier for me to get records on Cynthia Brandon after all, Alice just vanished, and her dad said she was dead. I also didn't want to dig everything up as I was sure that Alice would like to learn everything for herself. I looked, and Cynthia was still alive. The books said she died just before 2006 and it was only 2005, so she was due to die soon so Alice could meet her. After all, everyone would believe she was seeing things. She is 96 years old.
I wasn't able to find anything on which asylum Alice was sent to. Still, they can no doubt torture that out of James or Victoria before killing them, or Alice may not care about it at all. The books never really went into what she thought about her human life other than she was sad she couldn't remember what she missed.
I didn't notice how long I was up compiling the information, but before I noticed, it was early morning, and I could hear dad getting up and getting a shower. Looking at the folder, it has a good amount of information about Alice's early life as a child and even more about her sister and nephews, which is more than she would know about from James as they killed him before they knew that James knew Alice's past.
Walking down to the kitchen, I used my magic to make us a full American breakfast along with some fresh orange juice. Placing them on the table, I made sure the folder was in my enchanted bag. Looking over the rune stones, I made sure that I had an aversion rune stone and muffling rune stone that would make sure no one noticed as I talked to the Cullens. Placing them on the table, I made sure the folder was in my enchanted bag. I was sure Bella would notice as it was based on willpower, and when it came to Edward, Bella had plenty of willpower.
I made sure not to plan anything to avoid Alice's power, but I was convinced that she was keeping her mind on Jasper and Edward if the meeting went anything like it did in the midnight sun draft I had read. Dad came down and saw all the food placed out on the table.
"Wow, thanks, Maya", Dad said as he started to load up his plate. I saw Bella come down and begin to load her plate. I could see her mind was still on what happened yesterday, not that I planned on saying anything about them being vampires as Jake would tell her all about that in a few weeks after Edward had stopped sulking.
Dad had also forbidden me from using the bike till the snow was gone after yesterday. He was spooked about the bike, but I wasn't planning on giving it up.
The morning went fast, and I struggled not to plan anything out so that Alice or, more importantly, Edward wouldn't see and run away. No doubt demanding his whole family moves as well, he always seems to get his way, which annoyed me. Everyone seemed to be asking us what happened. I just shrugged and ignored them other than Angela Weber. The rest were frankly terrible people, especially Jessica.
Walking into Biology, I could see Edward and Elizabeth were sat at their tables. I walked down and sat never to Elizabeth and gave her a smile which she returned.
"Morning Elizabeth", I greeted her, happy to see that the Cullens hadn't left.
"Morning", Elizabeth replied after asking if I was okay from yesterday.
"Yep, the van missed me by miles, nothing to worry about," I told her. "And my sister was fine after a nights sleep even with the bump on her head."
I heard Bella great Edward, who didn't reply and just gave her a cold nod and then looked back to the front of the class. I guess he was trying to protect his family, but seeing this made everything even more suspicious. He should just play it off and act like normal I think not being able to read Bella's mind was really throwing him.
I saw Elizabeth shake her head, looking at Edward. The class was normal for me, and if I didn't know about them being vampires, I wouldn't think anything was wrong with Elizabeth. I was thankful that the rain washed away the snow and ice, so I hoped that I would be able to ride my bike tomorrow.
When the lesson was done, I walked over to Bella to ensure that she was okay other than being hurt that Edward was ignoring her. She was fine. We headed off to lunch, where I was a little nervous but took faith in that they couldn't attack me at home or school, which meant they couldn't really attack me at all.
"Bella, I'm going to sit with Elizabeth today. I will see you later," I told her, making her looked shocked at me, no doubt the fact that no one sat with the Cullens.
Walking over to the Cullen table, I could see them all looking at me. Alice looked confused but excited. I could see Rose glaring at me, and the rest looked a little confused. I took the seat at the end of the table. I could tell that everyone in the dining hall was looking at us being nosy children. Then again, I was sure I was the first none, Cullen, to sit at this table.
I pulled out my runestone, placed it on the table, and pushed magic into it, making the stone glow. I saw everyone in the hall look away from us. I could see that I had set the Cullens on edge, pulling out the second runestone, and activated it. Seeing a ripple in the air around us caused Rose and Jasper to start growling at me.
"Now, now it's rude to growl at people. What would your mum say" I reprimanded them, seeing them all looking shocked as I was sure humans wouldn't be able to hear them growling.
"Don't worry about the Humans. I told them. They can't hear us anymore."
"What do you mean humans" Rosalie growled at me.
"Well, I am talking about the humans in the lunchroom after all this talk is just between us supernaturals", I replied to Rosalie. I could see some of them react to this.
"I don't know what joke this is, but it's not funny. Leave," Rosalie snarked back, and I could hear a silent or else.
"That's not very nice, Rosalie Lillian Hale," I said back, not amused at her attempt.
The table was silent, and I was tempted to drop a pin to see if I could hear it.
Waving my hand, I used magic to make myself a plate of food. "As I said, this is a talk between us supernaturals, so let's stop pissing around as if you are not vampires," I told them, starting to eat my food.
"What the hell are you," Rosalie asked me. Slightly wary about me now, I showed that I wasn't human either I could see the other Cullens taking glances around the cafeteria, making sure that no one was looking at them.
"Hmm, I thought the magic gave it away. I am a witch, you know, like Sabrina or Harry Potter. Well, not exactly like that, but the same idea," I said, digging into the fired chicken.
"A witch?" Emmett asked, looking confused and disappointed.
"Yes, I left my pointy hat and broom at my house," I told him.
"What really?" Emmett asked, surprised.
"No, of course not. Why would I need a pointy hat? Now I would like to arrange a meeting with your father but just turning up at your house seemed a little rude and could have lead to a fight so this was my best option.
Oh right, I have also brought you a gift. Take it as proof of friendship," I said, looking in my enchanted bag.
"We don't need anything from you." Rose snapped at me, still unhappy about me, knowing they were vampires.
"Oh, maybe you should be careful what you say, Rose, or you could cause your sister a lot of pain", I warned her in a cold tone and saw Emmett tense up.
Placing the folder on the table and looking over at Alice. "I am aware that you don't remember your past." I pushed the folder over the table to Alice.
"In this folder is everything I know and could find about one Mary Alice Brandon Cullen." Making everyone snap and look at the folder.
"Now, there are still things I don't know, but you should be able to find out almost everything about your past with what I have collected for you. One more thing, your sister is still alive when she is 96 years old and will die by the end of the year at the latest.
Now can I come to your house and have a talk like adults" I asked them as school wasn't the place to have this talk.
They all seemed to be talking to each other I could hear them whispering, but I couldn't make out the exact words. After a minute, they looked back at me.
"You willing to come to our house after school? Elizabeth will drive you there," Alice asked me, taking looks at the folder on the table.
"Yep, I am guessing you all going home for an emergency?" I asked them. I doubted they would wait to read the folder, and they would want to check the info in the file to make sure that it was real.
"Yes, Elizabeth will be back at the end of the school," Alice said.
"Okay, I will see you after school then. Oh, I left something out in case you read it at school. I wasn't sure how you would take that. I will tell you when I get to your house," I told them, getting up to leave.
"Wait, does Bella know about vampires," Edward asked as I got up.
"Nope, it's not my secret to tell in the same way. I hope you won't tell people about me being a witch," I said, grabbing the runestones and walked over to Bella and set down.
"Sorry was just talking about lab work," I told Bella, knowing that Jessica would overhear as I didn't want to deal with her. True to their word, the Cullens were not in any classes after lunch. I hoped that Alice wasn't hurt by what she learned. I know that some people say that ignorance is bliss, but I wasn't sure as I loved to learn new things.
I wasn't looking forward to telling her about her father who killed her mother, faking Alice's death, and sending her to an asylum. The rest of the day passed really quickly, and we walked into the parking lot. And Maya was happy to see that Elizabeth was waiting next to the Volvo that the Cullens always used to get to school.
Turning to look at Bella, "I am going shopping with Elizabeth. Sorry, I forgot to mention at lunch, can you tell dad for me." I told Bella I could see that she didn't fully believe that given how she would have noticed how tense the Cullens were at lunch, but she nodded and walked to the abomination.
I was glad to see that most of the parking lot was empty, and everyone had rushed home, none of them wanting to stick around school. I was sure in 10 years they would wish they were back here.
"Hello, Elizabeth", I greeted her as I got to the car. I could see that she was warry about me, but I guessed that my knowing would make them so. I had assumed that Jasper and Rose would try and kill me before school was over, but they hadn't. Then again, they may be waiting for me to get to their house before trying.
We both climbed into the car; Elizabeth pulled out of the parking lot and started to drive to their house. The atmosphere in the car was tense, and neither of us really knew what to do to break the tension, so I just waited. I could see her taking glances every now and again. Like all the other Cullens, she drove like a mad man ignoring the speed limit completely. But it didn't bother me. I could use magic to save myself if she crashed, and I was sure that she wouldn't crash with vampire senses and reactions, or she really did deserve to lose her license.
In fact, did they even take a test, or did they just get a fake one from J. Jenks? I would guess fake just for less scrutiny. The ride was over quickly, and we had arrived at the Cullens house.
The book didn't really do it justice. It was much taller than the books painted at three stories tall with large glass walls with a deep porch the warped around the house. It overlooked a river to the south, and the whole house gave off an old but graceful feeling.
"Nice house, whoever restored it did an amazing job," I told Elizabeth as we both got out of the car. Part of me wanted to walk around the house and see what thing I would keep or change I never got to design or decorate my own home. I this life, I would build my own house and decorate it.
"Our mum did it. She loves restoring old houses and decorating them," Elizabeth said with a small smile gracing her face. I could tell that she really loved her new mother. I really liked talking and being with Elizabeth. She doesn't have any of the doom and gloom her brother has. I feel bad for Jasper having to deal with him.
"Is your farther back yet?" I asked Elizabeth.
"Yes, he came home the moment after lunch when we passed on your message. Why?" Elizabeth asked.
"Your dad is a rational man who wouldn't think about trying to kill me, unlike your sister and brother," Maya said with a shrug.
"My brother and sister don't", Elizabeth started to say before I cut her off.
"Both Jasper and Rose planned on killing us at your family meeting. I believe the words were some humans go to sleep and don't wake up," Maya said, shooting a look at Elizabeth and saw her flinch a tiny bit.
"Right shall we go meet your parents," Maya said with a coy smile.
We walked up the steps to the front door and stepped inside. The inside of the house was open and spacious, and I could feel that the house was a place they felt they didn't need to hide. I could see the three-hundred-year-old cross on the wall.
The Cullens are all stood waiting for us. A tense silence covers the room as we look at each other.
Carlisle steps forward...
