Mukade's Lies
"What?" Naruto practically yelled.
"We're in the past," Kairi explained.
"How can we be in the past, and how can you be so sure?" Naruto asked. The two of them were standing on a rooftop, Kairi had just told him what she discovered.
"Look around Naruto, Loron is alive and thriving," Kairi explained, "And I ran into Kakashi not to long ago."
"Kakashi-Sensei?"
"Yeah, by the way, he was younger than us," Kairi explained, "Ten, maybe twelve. He was kinda bratty."
"Are you sure it was Kakashi-Sensei?"
"White hair, wears a mask; it was him."
"Oh man," Naruto panicked, "This is bad."
"I know," Kairi said, "If only Merlin was here, he could take us back to our time. He says time travel is his hobby."
"You know weird people Kairi," Naruto muttered, "Anyway, do you think anyone else made it back with us?"
"I've only found your chakra so far," Kairi explained, "but I might have missed something."
"Let's go look around to make sure."
"Okay," before they could even move from the roof, the sound of fireworks stopped them.
"Is there a party going on?"
"Let's find out."
The two got closer to the city square. They saw a huge crowd of people along with some parade floats on the streets.
"Your majesty!" The people shouted and cheered as they gathered around a tower.
"Your majesty?" Naruto asked.
"Probably the king or queen," Kairi commented, "But who's in charge here?"
"Good question. Lets get closer and find out."
Naruto and Kairi jumped onto the tower closest to the one the people were gathering around. If this 'majesty' was going to come out, they would get a good look at them.
The door to the balcony opened. Two puppets came out.
"It looks like the ruler here is close to Mukade," Kairi murmured.
Then from behind the puppet guards, a girl walked forward with long red hair, not a bright red like Kairi, but red regardless. She didn't look older than Kairi, but she was wearing an elaborate dress and head wear.
"It's the queen!"
"Her majesty, Queen Sarai!"
Kairi looked at her as she began waving to the people, "She's so young."
"That girl," Naruto spoke in a confused tone.
"You know her?" Kairi asked.
"When I first woke up here, she was the first person I saw," Naruto explained, "but when she saw me she ran. I didn't get a chance to talk to her."
"Okay," Kairi looked back at here, "Why is she using puppets as guards?"
"I don't know," Naruto said, "Maybe we should ask her."
"I doubt we'll be able to just walk up to her," Kairi muttered.
A second later, the queen stumbled forward, before her balcony collapsed and she started to fall, screaming.
"Oh no!" Kairi cried.
She and Naruto jumped off the tower. Naruto caught her after her head dress flew off. He used his chakra to latch onto the wall and jump to safety. Kairi was right behind them.
Kairi looked down at the people. A minute ago, they were cheering, now they were silent. Why wasn't anyone screaming or panicking, their queen almost fell to her death?
Naruto landed outside the square, but he didn't have good balance carrying another person. This girl was heavier than Kairi. He stumbled back, but managed to lean against a wall and slide down with out hurting the queen.
Kairi landed near them, "Naruto are you okay?"
"Yeah," Naruto sighed tired.
The girl stirred and looked up at Naruto. When she saw him, she stiffened.
Naruto smiled, "Your safe now, no need to afraid-…" Naruto couldn't finish his sentence when the girl suddenly started to slap him.
Kairi watched stunned as the girl just elbowed her brother's face and backed away screaming, "Unhand me, you insolent boy."
"Naruto," Kairi quickly sat next to her brother to check his face.
"What's your problem?" Naruto moaned, "I just saved your life, did you forget that part?"
"Oh," the girl said realization, "Yes of course, how silly of me. Thanks."
Kairi gave her a look.
"You're the queen of this place?" Naruto asked, "My sister is more classy than you."
"Your sister?"
"That would be me," Kairi said.
The queen looked Kairi over.
"This girl? She's barely dressed."
Kairi felt a tick, "I'm fully clothed, I'm not the one who slaps someone for saving them. Snob."
"How dare you! I'm Sarai the High Queen of Loron."
"Loron?" Naruto asked, still confused about Kairi's story, "Oh, I'm Naruto Uzumaki, a shinobi from the Hidden Leaf."
"And I'm Kairi Uzumaki, Keyblade Wielder."
"You know," Naruto began, "Loron's going to be a dump one day."
"How dare you say that to me," Sarai exclaimed, "Loron is the city I inherited from my mother, it's more precious to me than life itself."
"Okay, I just don't understand what's going on here," Naruto said, he looked up at the balcony, "Anyway, what happened up there? How come you fell from the tower?"
Sarai looked surprised, before looking up, "It felt as though someone pushed me from behind."
"What?" Kairi asked.
"Seriously?" Naruto asked seriously, "Is someone trying to kill you?"
"What? No?" Sarai said indigenously, "Who would ever want to do that to someone like me the queen?"
"Power, jealousy, someone didn't like a law you passed," Kairi listed, "People have power have enemies, no matter how well they rule."
"That's not true! You saw, my people were showering me with adoration."
"That doesn't mean everyone likes you," Kairi said.
"Besides," Naruto said, "You just said someone pushed you."
"Well… I must have imagined it!"
Kairi gave her another look, "How did you survive as queen for so long?"
"You insolent little-…"
Sarai was interrupted when the squad of ninja they saw earlier suddenly dropped between her and the Uzumaki twins.
Naruto and Kairi were so surprised they stood.
"So, you didn't keep your promise." The disappointed tone of the blonde ninja made Kairi flinch.
"Hey, we had to no choice," Naruto pulled out his kunai in a defensive manner, "We saw that girl fall off that tower, what were supposed to do?"
"Excuse me!" Sarai ran past the group of ninja and stood between them and the twins: spreading her arms out almost protective, "Just who are you people?"
"Hold on," Naruto thought of something, "Don't tell me you're here to assassinate her?" Naruto shot forward towards the blonde ninja.
"Naruto stop!" Kairi called, but Naruto was already in a headlock. His kunai was pointed to Naruto's neck.
"Relax, don't get the wrong idea, we're here to protect the queen too."
"Please don't hurt him," Kairi cried, "My brother's just an idiot," If she was right, then this man could not hurt Naruto!
"Kairi," Naruto whined, not understanding his sister at the moment.
The blonde man looked at Kairi's pleading face and released Naruto.
The group moved to the tower, to talk in private. Kairi looked out the window as the citizens left. Just left. No one was worried or looking for the queen they seemed to adore.
Something's not right.
"I don't understand what's going on here," Naruto said, "Kairi thinks we traveled back in time."
Kairi looked back at Naruto when he revealed her theory, "Naruto don't tell them that!"
"Why, we need all the help we can get," Naruto told her before looking back at the ninja squad, "Guys if you know anything, please tell us."
The masked men looked at each other. Kairi wondered how they could tell what the other was thinking when they couldn't see their expressions.
"I guess it can't be helped," the blonde man walked forward and began removing his mask, "I'd hate to do this and I can't tell you two everything. But I'll tell you what you need to know."
Kairi had to bite her tongue when the mask came off and she saw his face. It kept her from reacting emotionally.
She was right.
In front of her was the future Hokage, Minato Namikaze, her father.
You look so much like your mother.
I'm so proud of you.
Kairi somehow kept herself together. She could feel the desire to cry as she recalled the first time she spoke to her father, when his chakra awakened in her seal. She wanted to run up to him, hug him. Tell him everything, but she couldn't. She swallowed down everything and forced herself to listen.
The other two ninja behind him removed their masks. Kairi believed she recognized them as Choji's and Shino's fathers. But she focused on her own.
"The Hidden Leaf sent us here on a top-secret mission," Minato began to explain, "It seems your sister's right. If I had to guess, you came the future."
"What, the future?"
"Yeah," Minato said, "I didn't want to tell you anything, because if someone from the future alters something in this era, the events of history could be drastically changed. I'd say it's roughly 20 years before your own time."
That made Kairi think about her friends again. Terra, Aqua, Ven, Axel, they must had been kids by now.
"And another shinobi from the future came here six years ago. Like you he suddenly found himself here, his name is Mukade."
That surprised Naruto and Kairi.
"The guy my team's after has the same name."
"It must be him," Kairi realized, "But he got here six years ago?"
Naruto let out a frustrated howl as he started to panic, "I don't understand any of this at all."
"Please just tell me what happened," Minato asked, "We'll start from there, maybe we'll learn something."
Kairi nudged Naruto. She wanted him to explain it. She still didn't trust her own voice to talk to her father.
"The five of us," Naruto address, "We followed Mukade to the ley line. But before we could stop him, he absorbed the jutsu formula into his body. And then…" Naruto trailed off. After that, they arrived at that place.
"All of you, must had been carried back in time, via the transportation technique."
"I still don't really get it," Naruto said, "Does that mean we can't ever go back home?"
Kairi looked worried, they couldn't stay in that era.
"You said he absorbed a jutsu formula into his body," Minato recalled, "Maybe if you defeat him, time will correct itself and you'll return to the future."
"You think so?" Naruto asked. Kairi certainly hoped so.
"I'm not sure," Minato said, "but either way, we must bring Mukade down, or all of time will be disrupted."
"Wait, I remember now," Naruto suddenly ran up to Minato and got closer to examine his face, "I knew it, that's why you look familiar. You look like the mountain side image of the Fourth Hokage."
Kairi was amazed she didn't faint, "Naruto, stop talking," Kairi quickly grabbed him and pulled him away from Minato.
"Now that's a funny thing to say," Shibi said, "There've only been three Hokage up till now."
"But they came from the future, it's a different now for them."
"Please stop talking," Kairi whined. She was bad at trying to maintain the world order, the time order was just as bad.
"She's right, that's enough about the future," Minato said, "We need to focus on the ley line, Mukade is using that power to develop formidable puppet soldiers."
So he really was using it to fuel his jutsu.
"Enough!" Sarai who had been quiet throw the whole conversation finally spoke and rose from her place on the windowsill, "I demand you stop speaking such lies! It wasn't some evil shinobi named Mukade, it was a good man named Onrokuzon!" She declared, "And today, Onrokuzon serves as my minister and has faithfully carried out my mother's wishes. He loves peace and would never develop military weapons, and I won't allow you to speak ill of him!"
"I beg your pardon your majesty," Minato said, "I don't mean to upset you, but this man has been deceiving you."
"I refuse to believe such tales," Sarai denied before pointing at the group, "If anyone's suspicious here, it's you!"
She turned on her heals and started walking away.
"Hey, where are you going?"
"I'm going to go ask him about this myself," Sarai declared before continuing down the hall.
"Wait," Kairi called, "Someone tried to kill you earlier."
"Yeah what if Onroku- onro," Naruto said before giving up and said, "What if Mukade was behind it?"
Sarai didn't stop to listen to them.
"This is bad," Kairi said, "She's clearly a figure heard, she doesn't know what's going on."
"I think we should split up," Minato said, "I want you two to stay with Queen Sarai and keep her safe."
"W-we can do that," Kairi stuttered as she addressed her father.
"We don't mind, but our mission is to capture Mukade," Naruto explained, "This entire mess got started because our team let him get away in the first place."
"It'll be faster if we look for him," Minato explained, "We're familiar with the city, besides we can't include you in a mission that's already in progress. You should know that. Plus, protecting Sarai is just as important."
Kairi nodded, he made a lot of sense. No wonder he became Hokage… or will become Hokage? Time travel was confusing.
"Alright, you've convinced me," Naruto said, "We can't forget about Sarai when her life's on the line."
Minato held out one of his kunai, "Here."
Naruto took it, Kairi looked at it with meaning, "That's…"
"I've had that one made special for me," Minato explained, "but you hang onto it for now. If you're ever in need I'll come to your aid."
Naruto looked at the kunai, this was the kunai used in the sealing formula.
Then that means he's…
"Say, mister I-…"
"Naruto," Kairi grabbed Naruto's arm, "We gotta go, we don't want to lose her."
"Uh- Alright," Naruto was lead down the hall by Kairi. He called back down to the man, "See you later."
Kairi swallowed back what she wanted to say as they followed Sarai, Bye Daddy.
